The slim tall dark complx guy at the cashier always over bill me whenever i purchase items at this store,i have complained severally to the management, but he keeps doing it. Folks check your receipt after purchase from this store so you dont get over charged..and i guess he needs to be fired if he has been doing that to other customers, i will call it stealing.

Im highly disappointed in you!Why would you sell a mixture of oil and palm oil as non cholesterol palm oil. The quantity of oil was higher than the palm oil in it.This is totally deceptive.Your employees this days are untruthful to customers which would affect your business. They are in there for money and tips. Stop the idea of inflating the price of commodity without your boss consent and the act of scanning/checking out customers items before they do while trying to quickly grab an additional items. Someone needs to go, yall need to audit your cashiers.

My husband and I visited the store for the 1st time this week. He normally picks up hot food and supplies from the market south of town, but I was told G&J was closer so we gave it a try. For supplies, we will continue to patronize. We were curious about the hot food so we bought a variety to try, the fried fish was amazing!!! and the beans we decent as well, however the moi moi, jollof rice, vegetable soap and meat pie were not!

Only been here twice, first time was good experience although it was pricey because I left with 2 grocery bags worth of stuff but paid over $220. But I didnt mind to be honest because the man at the register and the meat area gave awesome customer service.2nd time was very bad. I attempted to order cooked fish priced at 1.50 per slice. I started pointing to the ones I wanted. It was almost closing time and I would be the last customers buying the made fish. I pointed to 4 fishes for the server to bag but then changed my mind and asked the server to switch one of the fish selected for a different one. He got irritated and said I had to buy the fish as selected and that he wouldnt switch it because its not allowed to select your own fish. I asked for the manager, he said no, because the manager would tell me the same thing. I asked for the manager again, he refused. Another worker walked by and I stopped her and asked her to get the manager. The owner of the shop walked out almost immediately once informed. I tried to explain the issue but she interrupted me and said no they cannot do that. She went further to explain that if I picked all the good fish then no one would buy the other parts of the fish. I went back and forth trying to explain to her that since she priced them 1.50 each i should be able to pick which i wanted. Safe to say she didnt understand that concept. It was a heated arguement and customers shouldnt be forced to buy what they dont want.Ill not be going back here.

Absolutely recommend this store. It is well maintained, and super clean! You have to call ahead to reserve your puff puff, because those tasty balls of fried heaven go quick! The Jamaican beef patties are always hot and perfectly seasoned. And if you really want to treat yourself go ahead and order a pan of jollof rice, Ghana or Nigeria- She does both! There’s material in the front, and a butcher in the back if you want fresh meat. It’s safe to say. They do it all, and they do it exceptionally well!

Basic enough... and thats about it. Very basic, the things you need at regular prices and as always rude African employees. A stigma that hunts African shops all over the world. Thats why when good service is seen in an African store e.g WAZOBIA. Its celebrated from the rooftops. Good location and parking but can be better. Starting with a smile...

The best place North of Downtown to get any West African food supplies. They have great hours and now have a great selection of fabrics and other non food items.Great softdrink selection and usually will have a surprising amount of fresh greens available.Four stars due occasional interaction with cashiers which can leave a shopper perplexed. This usually involves when a shopper asks the price of an item. Some of the young ladies who work the register respond to the question as a personal affront which leaves this shopper quite bemused.

As a Nigerian that takes pride in his motherland’s dishes, the dried grounded Egusi they sell in this store is a disgrace. After preparing it for my family the egusi tasted like soap and it left a weird after taste to the palate. I don’t know what you call that but that is not egusi. I won’t be spending good money at this place anymore whenever I come to Houston.Fix your inventory people and get that thing you call egusi off the shelves.

Its a good place. I go there twice a week. Friendly staff. However, if you have a menu, but you never have an item that you put down on the menu, simply take that selection off the menu. I like okra soup, but they never have okra soup. Every time I try an order okra soup, they make me feel as though, Im committing a crime! I would rate them higher simply by having okra soup!

I saw the owner of the business in the kitchen. I smiled at her and said hello, she neither smiled or returned my greetings. I have been going to this shop for years. I remember their humble beginning. My advice is that they dont let fame or their improved status make them forget or ignore all the customers that helped them get to where they are now.

Shoping & Groceries:G&J is probably the largest African store on the north side of Houston. They have a wide selection of items that you expect to find in most African supermarkets. The store is somewhat clean compared to other African stores and doesnt have the smell you associate with African stores.Catering Service:Decent prices but very terrible with delivering orders in a timely manner. If you have to order here, give yourself 2-3 hours of wiggle room because they will more than likely be late with your order. I have tried to give them the benefit of doubt but they have consistently failed.

They are the only African store in the area. Things are really pricey in comparison to NYC where I usually get my African product. The ladies seem to have a bad attitude but I have learned its a cultural barrier. Their face may say Im angry but that doesnt always mean that. They are from Ghana and also have prints you can buy by the yard. The back of the store is kinda messy but no one seems to mind. I like them but if there was another African store near it wouldnt take much to have a better aesthetic and better prices.

Meals prepared as take-out and more...They Accept Major credit cards ($10 minimum) EBT. (No minimum)The atmosphere says Motherland.Braided hair and dreads. Colored material. Im thinking add some incense,Oils, candles and loose herbs for the curious at heart or well being.Theres room for growth!Come check it out. Dont be surprised if this Shopping Mall lands two Afro-centric shops by the African Market!I enjoyed it!
