Not as congested as the NEX, which is a BIG plus. Shelves were adequately stocked. Was able to find everything I was shopping for.
I love all commissary they have everything you need for lower prices. They also have the most delicious poke. Its a very good place.
Hickam Field Commissary is located on base which can be a challenge shopping at because of military drills and long lines at the gate. The plus side is that the vegetables seem fresher than other military commissaries. Same goes for the meat selection. Store is always very clean. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Parking is readily accessible close to the entrance and exit.
The pasta has been infected with bugs for >6 months. The first time I bought a few boxes of pasta from there the bugs got into everything else in my pantry and I had to toss about $300 worth of food. I thought the problem was fixed so I recently bought some more pasta from there this week and the same thing happened. The bugs are so small that they actually got into my sealed jars as well somehow. Thats now about $500 worth of food wasted because of their bug problem. I could have just bought everything closer to home at higher prices instead of going there. :(
Nice and fresh selections of meats and vegetables. Customer service is alright. I guess it comes with the price!
Nice size, good parking. Some in-store sections close early.
Fast n friendly but a few pesky out of stocks in frozen foods.
Fresh veggies, excellent steaks and salmon. They also carry lactaid milk and ice cream.
Come here to skip the huge lines at the Pearl Harbor commissary. They have a decent selection, and good parking. As with all the commissaries on island the produce isnt the best buy what youll use in the next three days so it wont spoil on you.
By far the worst of the 4 major commissaries on the island, but its still average quality overall. Large lot sales frequently in the back section.
Great selection of different local foods like poke and Portuguese sausage. Most commissaries lack local foods
Not nearly as crowded as other commissaries but fresh produce is rarely fresh.
Like it better then the big one
Alot of choices w/I individual items! Many items that is not available in local stores. Love that. Some fresh fish. Poke did not look fresh. Meat dept had a good selection. Even vacuum pack of brisket. Would go there again.
Great. Well stoic chef and organizedM
Were are the collar green these are soldiers from all over the world 🌎. Get there food
Bigger store that I thought, very convenient. Lots of selection for the size. Great bakery, friendly staff, close to housing an the PX, plenty of parking. Great frozen section. 👌
Great experience! Awesome prices!!
Love the Spicy Ahi Poke from here. Holiday deals are awesome when you find them.
Clean facility. Older yes but not too unusual. Good selection of fresh produce and meats. Warehouse sales area was a bonus as well. Customer service was great. Fast checkout. No issues.
Good selection and friendly staff
Older, smaller commissary than at the NEX complex at Pearl Harbor, but grateful it is there. Had everything we needed.
This is strictly for the ACAI BOWL and not for the Hickam AFB Commissary as a whole. I was pretty stoked to see that I could get a acai bowl without having to leave base to get one. Im TAD here for the week and by the end of the day, Im exhausted (time zone exhaustion), so Im not too enthusiastic about dealing with traffic, trying to get one. I guess I was expecting a freshly made bowl, made-to-order. Not the case. The acai is already pureed and frozen in advance. So when one is ordered, they just pull out a pre-prepped one and add the toppings of choice (granola, strawberries, blueberries, and coconut). Bummer....oh well. I guess it works when youre in a pickle... or time zone exhausted.
I usually find what I am looking for when I go. No complaints! Items are stacked neat and clean always.
Unless you live on Hickham AFB, its a bit of a drive. Store is usually very well stocked and organized. Produce isnt that great, because most of it is shipped from the mainland. Staff is very helpful, and the line is almost never long so never much of a wait.
Antonio Briggs is awesome love this store!
Holy cow!!!!...cashier didnt know what she was doing!!!!
Store opens earlier than PH Commissary. Not too busy and the cashiers are very friendly. Always our Go To for all produce & grocery needs.
Must have base access. Great service, well stock given minor up and downs for pay days, kids do the bagging 👍
Fast and friendly service
Has everything we need, parking is convenient, not too crowded, cashiers and people that help with bagging are always pleasant.
Not crowded like nex.. more items in stock.. friendly cashier..
Just happened to be on base so I thought I would stop by to pick up a few items. Store is definitely an older store and shows its age. I purchased the Oxi Cleaner (purple) and noticed it to be almost half the price that what it is at the Pearl harbor commissary. So this is where I buy this product at now.Not a very busy store since the Pearl harbor commissary opened up in 2002. I used the self check out lane and I really dont like those self check out machines. They are slow and seems like they stop you from scanning items quickly when the machine informs you waiting on associate to clear the screen. So just skip these machines and go to a physical associate to check out.
Excellent varieties at reasonable prices
A lovely little grocery store. Decent prices in the pearl city area.
I dont go to this one very often. However, they usually have what I need, its on the way home, and customer service is always top notch.
No crowd, No line around the building. Outstanding customer service. Most of all Well stocked.
Arrived late fruits and veggies still in good shape! In and out in 30 minutes
Usually a quick in and out with most everything Im looking for.
I enjoy shopping there because its not crowded and the staff is friendly. The down side is its fairly small and the building is dated.
I stopped going to the Pearl Harbor Commissary completely. My shopping trips are less headache, parking is easy, store layout is great!!!
Great way to avoid the Pearl Harbor Commissary rushes. Still has a great stock.
Just another commissary. Wish I had more options for different meats as I had to go to my third choice for a type of beef for a recipe as there was no beef shank and could only get an entire brisket instead of part of it like at most other stores. Can always count on them having chuck though.
Had high hopes, but came on an off day I guess. Shipments havent been coming in due to the storms on the mainland (presumably).
Great place
Okay. I often shop on Sunday nights when shelves are more empty. Glad to see we can bring reusable bags again.
Not to busy when I went today! Had an excellent Ruben sandwich made there and it was really great to have it on Rye bread. They also had Chicken gizzards which my dog love.No line at the check out! Which was really nice. I guess its all about going in at the right time.Friendly staff and check out personally made this trip totally AW3SOME!
Great service and prices. Everything was clean, and there is an excellent variety of foods - particularly local and international. Their deli and sushi counters do a great job too.
Clean and well stocked. Very friendly and helpful employees in the produce section.
Good experience had almost everything on my list The lines were really short was a quick in-and-out no problems
Its always good to shop there. I like the selections that they have.
On base so less crowded and more likely to still have something in stock if PHC runs out
I’m on base, so this is very convenient. Typically, I spend about an hour in the store but that’s because I don’t feel rushed or a need to race to checkout since it never takes long to get in and out when necessary. Currently, they aren’t selling poke but the sushi is still being sold. I’ve never had a bad experience with the items or the cashiers. The environment is truly family friendly and welcoming as well.
Has all the foods. Wonderful employees. Fresh sushi. Cant complain.
Small commissary where you get get basic groceries. Nice sandwich counter in the back for a quick lunch.
I shop there every week for groceries, saves me a ton of money.
My preferred commissary on island, compact size with varied food options. Produce is usually fantastic, meat selection has options for small households not just value packs, and a wide selection of everyday items along with a decent array of Asian foods. Generally the self checkout has small issues with scanning (not always user error.) Workers are generally nice and helpful as well.
The only thing I feel I rarely see there are the sanitizing wipes by the front door. During this time of year the flu is going around and sanitizing wipes for the carts are a must for keeping sickness down. Thankfully I always carry spray hand sanitizer and spray it down before putting my toddler in there.Aside from this issue its our favorite place to shop as the atmosphere is calm and the prices are great 😊
Very good products and prices. They cheerfully help bag your purchases.
Always buy more than I intend to fresh produce is the best!
Never been there before but alot to choose from.
Clean, organized.
Store was clean and neat. My rating has more to do with the fruits being moldy, which was a bummer since I prefer Hickams produce to KBays. There also wasnt any sanitizer wipes to wipe down the cart handles.
Great little commissary. Not as fancy as Pearl Habors but much less busy with just as good of a selection of items. Parking is easy, staff is nice, you are on the installation (unlike Pearl) and the beach is just minutes away....not to mention seeing aircraft from all over the world. Highly recommend you not come to this commissary so it can stay quiet and clean ;).
Its not as big as other bases commissaries, but it still has a solid selection, and is much cheaper than the local stores, particularly if you hit it right with the deals. They have a great produce selection, and even a little local Hawaiian section. Just be prepared to fight through a large crowd.
Always like shopping in this commissary, merchandise are nicely stock up and very well displayed on the shelves. People here are friendlier.**2 years later, I am adding on to my last review... today, I am giving this place a 2-star. Here are my reasons:I was told that they have recently changed a new store manager. A lot have changed in terms of the shelving arrangements to the new products he/she brought into this store. But why change when ‘nothing is broken’? I saw those expensive new cupcakes, and new off the wall products been introduced into the store, no one has touched them. Eventually, they all have the ‘special offer’ price tags on them. Also, the reshuffling of products on the shelves. We cannot find the products we used to buy anymore. Bean sprouts, doesn’t mean you don’t buy them you should simply removed them totally from the store!? This is Hawaii, people’s taste buds are different. Different states have different ways of managing a store. Don’t you get it?
Good commissary experience. Tends to be much less crowded than the Navy commissary. Has all your essentials and lacking in some variety but not by much. Definitely the smallest commissary on the island but the convenience of having less people outweighs its smaller size.
Clean and well organized, a little small though. Love the selection of Oikos Zero yogurt and sugar free coffee creamer. Great!
Not crowded today and alot in stock! Perfect!
Havent been there in years but it was a pleasant experience. A lot of goods & food items not available in local super markets. Highly recommended if U can get a sponsor to get U in.
Ive shopped in this store a few times. Always well stocked and the staff is friendly. Parking is a breeze compared to Pearl Harbor.
Much preferred over the Pearl Harbor commissary. Shelves are usually stocked. It is not nearly as crowded. Produce usually nicer.
Probably the best commissary on island. Well stocked and not crazy busy during peak hours the way the NEX commissary gets. Stockers & cashiers are friendly and helpful, and all the baggers are sweet and friendly, too.
A good amount of the groceries offered here are at a lower price than what you will find at local grocery stores. Im visiting my sister and cooking a good amount. Great way of saving money on food and be able to spend the money on experiences.
This is a great option for all of your dry goods and such. The big problem here is the meat and the veggies. Everytime weve gotten meat here it has tasted off and the last time we purchased ground beef here we found a nasty surprise. The outside was a beautiful red but the second I put it in the pan and began to split it apart I found completely oxidized meat. They are taking all the old ground beef and mixing it back in with new beef to resell it. Do yourself a favor and go get your meat and veggies elsewhere like whole foods.
Best commissary on island. Avoid the crowds at Pearl Harbor Mall and it has more friendly staff. It could use a facelift, but still great for almost all of your grocery needs!
Very friendly. Find what i need for the most part.
It wasn’t bad but upon entering the store everyone in my party noticed a urine smell throughout the store.
Super friendly staff, not busy (I went around 1100), and a large variety of items to choose from.
Full of KungFlu masked panic zombies
Cleanest, most organized store Ive been to.Employees are nice too.
Great selection of local fruit and fresh fish
Love not waiting in long lines
Everything I need and a good selection of reasonably priced fruits and vegetables. The meat looks very fresh and priced well too. Its all name brand so I use resonable generously.
Wide variety of items and super friendly staff. Be sure to tip the baggers, though. They are mostly military relatives and tips are their only pay.
Awesome military benefit, especially for large families! Im glad this location only allows authorized patrons with a valid military ID because other commissary locations get too crowded with guests of patrons. Avoid going shopping on paydays -- it gets very crowded! I love the self-service checkout so I can organize my groceries in my bags the way I want. And yes, commissaries still provide plastic bags for items you have purchased.
Great place to shop;reminds me of camp zama commissary.
Lots of expired items. Never enough cashiers. Overall, about average for a commissary, but definitely lacking from a normal grocery store - as are most commissaries.
Army and Air force have similar items on inventory (AAFEES). Hickam AFB Commissary usually less crowded than Schofield Barracks Commissary. Sale items are usually cost effective.
We live off base, so I run to the Safeway when I need something, but every 3 weeks or so I make a long trip out there to stock up on what I can. They prices are literally half that of any grocery store on island. The meat selection is limited, but good enough for everyday meals and at a decent price. Produce is cheaper, but things like breakfast cereals, canned tuna and veggies, and frozen foods are where the prices are much better than off base.
Everything was fine. My only disappointment for today (usually never happens) no tubs of ice cream. The whole ice cream tub fridge was closed down and defrosted
Its a good value and its usually not too busy, I definitely prefer the hickam store over the NEX which has essentially the same stuff but avoids the absurd lines at the NEX. I just wish theyd circulate new product into the store. Its the same selection every time, nothing new hardly ever. Also needs a much better gluten free selection
One of the better commissaries in terms of produce freshness, and overall variety and quality of everything else. Its kind of dark but its really clean and well-stocked.
Great. They had paper towels and toilet paper, on hand, even this late in the afternoon
