Waiola Shave Ice has the fluffiest ice, out of all the shave ice places I’ve tried. Its ice is perfect, even magical; it’s so soft and melts immediately when your tongue presses on it, without any coarse specks. However, the flavors are relatively standard with nothing too notable.

We walked here from our hotel and it was worth it. After, our Lyft driver said this is the only location (there are a few) that uses natural flavors as the syrup. Glad we came here!

Waiola is the best shave ice our family had in Waikiki. So much better than most offerings on Waikiki beach, worth the 5 minute drive from hotel area.

Yum! Super shaved ice. Sometimes shave ice is chunky but this shave ice is so good bc it’s super small shavings. Good flavors and decent topping choices. $7 for 2 small cups, one we got ice cream on the bottom. Not very many parking spaces, small outdoor seating area. Other places may have better toppings like fruit and boba but this is good for kids who don’t know the difference and just want shaved ice.

I love this place! The shave ice is so fine and soft, the flavors are perfect! Good toppings to choose from and there’s a mini crack seed store inside too! I had a POG and haupia flavored shave ice with vanilla ice cream and mochi balls inside. I will definitely be back. Remember, cash only.

Matsumotos gets all the attention but Waiola Shave Ice is better! The ice is so smooth and creamy!

The shave ice is awesome, like the original ones from Japan and Taiwan, but it also comes with a lot of attitude from the owners... it would be a 5 stars for sure with a little bit of hospitality.

Always a fave spot when we comeVisit. Grateful this location is open since closer to Waikiki/Waialae area.Limited hours. But this location has actual parking lot and extra space and picnic benches to sit and quickly enjoy your frozen treat before it melts! Tho... this side was smaller and less saturated in flavoring than our serving at Kapahulu/Mccully location. Which is the original fave local spot for all. Went here based one of the locals recommendation who couldnt say enough good things about this place. Kept it simple, just the ice and syrup-no toppings or additions, wanted the taste in its purest form. Absolutely fantastic!! Melts in your mouth and hits the spot on a hot day.

Fun little shop off the main road. Its classic shaved ice with all the different combinations of toppings you could ever want. I got the rainbow with ice cream at the bottom. Its cash only but the prices are low because of it. The inside has a lot of fun souvenirs. Would definitely recommend and come back to in the future

This is an adorable location, and the shave ice is delicous! This place serves it like fresh powdered snow; its so fine that when the syrup is added, it feels more like ice cream. I added actual ice cream to the bottom of mine, and I would highly recommend it! They are cash-only, but their prices are great, with a small cup of rainbow shave ice with ice cream only costing me $3. Definitely make the trek to get some shave ice specifically at Waiola while youre in Honolulu!

Best shave ice in town. Get the first column shave ice (with condensed milk and red bean. The Obama Rainbow is good but not as good as the traditional one. Much better than crazy expensive ones from Island Vintage in the middle Waikiki.My biggest complaint is that The cross st of Kapahulu and Mokihana is absolutely treacherous and I hope Hawaiian government does something about it. mokihana has Waiola shave ice so attracts decent amount of traffic especially given how narrow it is. Kapahulu is a busy Main Street where cars drive very fast. There are ALSO plenty of cars coming onto Kapahulu from Safeway supermarket side. So it’s a 3-way street without ANY traffic lights or Stop sign. It’s entirely up to polite drivers to yield to pedestrians and cars coming from Safeway and Mokihana. Super dangerous.

Best shave ice on the island

Craving for shaved ice after having eaten at the famous M establishment on the North Shore. The shaved ice is okay, good enough to cool you down on a hot day.

Softest shaved ice weve ever had!!! We had the custard bowl and the ice cream bowl which comes with custard or ice cream at the bottom.

Friendly neighborhood shave ice place with a great selection of flavors and toppings. Located right in the popular kaimuki district and not too far from Waikiki. Its however off the main road but not difficult to find. Great place to enjoy a quick snack or dessert!

There is parking in front or the parking lot on the side. Usually theres a line but we came at the right time. I love the shaved ice here - probably mainly because there is condensed milk and the li hing mui powder. Ordering is simple. There is a small table with little chairs inside - when I say small, I mean SMALL as in its for children :-) Enjoy your shaved ice!

This is the worst shave ice that we had during our trip to Hawaii. The flavors didnt taste right (or even very good).They did not have syrup going through the whole thing (as you can see in the attached picture it is just ice in the middle).We paid for the sweetened condensed milk but we never tasted any.Plus they charge you an 25 cents for an extra spoon.Follow the recommendations we received for our time in Oahu, this was the most disappointing and overrated.

The shave ice is nice on a hot day. There wasn’t a line when we went and since it was our first time, we had a few questions on the menu. The lady had an ignorant air to her and gave us the impression she didn’t need to be spending her time giving us helpful answers. The dessert was fine. However, the lady’s attitude just left us with a bitter taste.

I got the Waiola Rainbow with ice cream.Thier ice was smoothly shaved so it contained the flavors great. They were really quick with our order. Definitely will return. Only downfall is parking.

Great tasting Shave Ice.

Its not fancy, but its the best shave ice youll ever put in your mouth. If the ice was shaved any thinner it would be called water. I always get mine with ice cream and a snow cap (condensed milk). Oh, and the price is right too, but bring cash. No credit cards accepted.

Already well known - not much I can say other than it lives up to the hype. I did a custard bowl as pictured which was just a tad too sweet.

I had the Hawaii 5-O rainbow with a scoop of ice cream and sweetened Condensed Milk on top.This is nothing like Ive ever had before. It is so far superior to snow cones. The ice is so light its fluffy. In the mouth its almost creamy. If I could bring a Hawaiian food home, this would be it.The lychee and Lilikoi (passion fruit) syrups were amazing.

What you expect from a shave ice place. Clean and concise. However dont expect much pleasantry or service as the lady just wanted to hurry up and get things going. As youre lining up, make sure that you know what youre ordering. Otherwise, i think its just an overpriced syrup on top of ice.

The shaved ice here is not that special

First time going to this location for me. The shave ice is very fine and there are lots of choices on the menu. Personally, I think the mochi balls are the must-have item. New to this location are picnic tables that customers can sit on. This is a great upgrade from their original store. Even though the parking lot is small and the sitting area has just a few tables, this place feels welcoming to its customers.
