Great and flavorful shave ice with a lot of fruit and mochi. The syrup tasted super fresh definitely tell they used a natural flavoring for the ice. The toppings they used like the mochi and jam were also really great. Would definitely put in top 3 shave ice places to visit in Hawaii.Honestly Iβm leaving it with 4 stars because it was 11 dollars πππ
First of all - itβs located right on the street in a stall in front of the Royal Hawaiianβs food court. One of the most popular shaved ice places on the island is right in the middle of traffic. We went on a Thursday morning at 11am but there was no line. We were shocked. I ordered the Tropical and my husband ordered the Green Island. Both were delicious and large, but I preferred the soft ice cream in mine vs the frozen yogurt in his. The Mochi is freshly-made and pillow soft. The popping boba was a nice textural addition. It was worth the trip!
I personally did like it it was refreshing and it has ice cream inside and I really enjoy coconut natural flavor. This was not natural but I still like. My husband thought it was okay. He got the mango pineapple. The lines are really long. So every one is loving it, try it for your self when you are here in Hawaii, I think you be refreshed.
I was not impressed with the shave ice on Oahu after trying a series of the best reviewed places a few years ago, so I didnt go out of my way to hunt for good shave ice on subsequent trips. This time, after being cooped up for so long and finally liberated by the vaccine, we wanted the full Hawaii experience. This kiosk is right in the middle of the Waikiki shopping district, conveniently right on the sidewalk so you cant miss it. Their syrups taste great, and the shave ice topped with real fruit, fresh mochi, and condensed milk, along with a scoop of ice cream underneath, was a perfectly refreshing and balanced treat. Highly recommend this place if you are craving shave ice. The line can get long, but its not too terrible a wait that pays off deliciously.
Amazing ice cream. We almost passed on trying this ice cream here because of long lines this place has, but it was totally worth it. We got the tropical island from the signature shave ice menu. This has popping boba and mochi on the side and inside the shaped ice, it had vanilla soft icecream. The flavors were on point. Highly recommend trying this if you are around Waikiki beach.
A cool shaved ice stand located in the busy streets of Waikiki. We wanted to get a small dessert after dinner. The line here can get long so be prepared to wait. We finally got to the front, but the main flavors we wanted were out - lilikoi and mango. We opted for some other flavors instead. I liked that they have some soft serve in the middle and the outer part was padded with the shaved ice. The 2 employees working here were working non-stop and hard, while trying to get through all the people in line.
Absolutely delicious! If youre in the Waikiki area and need a tasty, sweet, and refreshing treat, I highly recommend giving this spot a try. Fresh fruit flavors straight from the island and fresh soft serve ice cream covered in delicious toppings. Highly recommend!
Island Vintage Shaved Ice was AMAZING! Fresh fruit, very fine ice. Hawaiian Rainbow had soft serve vanilla ice cream in the middle. Super Island had frozen yougurt. It was enough to share. It is a little kiosk/ free standing building on the sidewalk, line moves quickly. I visted twice during my stay in Hawaii. Believe the hype and try it.
Not really sure how to rate this, Iβve never had anything like this. I was expecting more of ice and syrup and this is more like thinly shaved sorbet with a scoop of sorbet with fruit and some white stuff? It was good, we ate it all, but I was not expecting what we got. Would absolutely try it again!
Touristy? Yes since it is in the middle of a highly populated walk way.Is it worth it?Yes!Ice is very fine but not melted. Ice is not crunchy. It is perfect. The flavoring was unique because it wasnβt overly sweet and the flavors definitely comes through.Would I get it again? yes!FYIβ¦ the store closes at 930pm but they cut off the line at 9pm.
If you are looking for some good shave ice in Waikiki this place is pretty freaking delicious! It is like premium shave ice, I felt so fancy carrying it around! Im all honesty the flavors were spot on and the ice was perfect! Gotta make sure you get some ice cream makes it even better! The line is pretty long in the evenings but it is worth the wait for a refreshing dessert after a hot day!
I donβt mind the wait especially if it is this popular but you would hope itβs worth It. Itβs definitely not something special and the server was kinda rude. Probably had a long day and itβs hot too so i would put it on the owner of this business that if it is that busy they would need to change shifts more frequent so servers donβt get too cranky with customers
This is the best shaved ice I have ever eaten. This is more like a meal. Starting with the texture of the ice, different fresh flavors of fruit, frozen yogurt, popping Boba (it literally pops in your mouth). The shaved ice in US mainland is something I would not eat again after eating this one. Best in town.
Heard about the rave reviews so we decided to try it out for the first time and thought it was good. This is probably one of the busiest ones we have seen. Purchased two make your own (2 flavors included). On the first was strawberry and lilikoi with condensed milk. The second was strawberry and mango with sorbet. Sadly they were out of azuki beans and vanilla ice cream. The staff here are friendly but their shave ice seems under flavored and rushed.
Im a shave ice connoisseur, and have tried several places on Maui, Kauai, the Big Island, and Oahu. This shave ice stands out as one of my favorites! Definitely my favorite on Oahu! The ice is shaved so finely that the natural syrup does not run to the bottom. The vanilla bean ice cream didnt disintegrate and get lost in the ice as it sometimes does. The mochi and bobas were a nice touch to complement the fruit flavors. I did wait an hour in line, but Im glad I didπ
Living here on the island there are some things I like to repeat over and over again. This place has hands down the best affogato, but you have to get it with the macadamia nut gelato. It is life changing. Or maybe you shouldnt try it because if you leave for the mainland/home it will make you want to come back to hawaii to get another one. That could get expensive lol
Fire! Got there right before close, had a pretty good sized line, moved semi quick. Toppings were on point.
The wait was long but well worth it. I personally donβt like shaved ice, but my husband and niece really wanted to try it and I ended up getting an ice cream. I did try a little of my husbands and it was really good. The service was great, and the servers were friendly. My husband and niece really loved it, gave it 10/10. It was very busy down on Waikiki but it was really great!
Wonder taste. Fast service. No artificial coloring
OMG, this was SO good. The shave ice is the bomb! Many flavors to choose from and a great array of variety. Canβt wait to go back!
I got the heavenly lilikoi with Mochi and popping boba. We waited in line at 8:30pm (it was wrapped around the shack) and got our dessert at 9:30pm (30 mins past their closing time). I would give 5 stars but the wait was so long. It was worth trying in the end but because the line is always this big, its not somewhere youd go back to.The ice itself was really good. I loved the syrup flavorings and toppings. I believe it was about $9.
Sooo good! If youβre wondering what place has the best shave ice this one should be on the top of your list. Itβs different than other places. Iβd say this is an upscale version of shave ice. The flavors taste much more natural and not very sugary. The yogurt adds a super interesting flavor, and balances out the sweetness from the syrup. You can def tell the difference in the quality of the ingredients they use! You should def give it a try next time youβre in Waikiki! They have a sign that says cash only but they also have a POS.
Summary: Little stand with some delicious but overpriced shaved ice. But Id say it was worth it. I had an immense joy consuming thus.Price: $10-$15 for one. But its enough to share for 2 people.Time: Likely youll wait in line for 5-20 minutes. And 3-5 minutes between ordering and shaved ice being ready.Parking: Better off walking here from your waikiki hotel
Long line but the BEST shave ice I ever had. It was finely shaved like snow and the syrup was the best. No seating so we had to look for a place to sit down together.
While planning our trip, this was one place I had to visit and let me say, we are NOT disappointed! Soooo good! Im not a sweets person and I dont do cold treats much, the after reading the reviews, I had to try Island Vintage Shave Ice. A hefty potion to share with my husband and such friendly staff. Must try!
The young asian guy that was at the kiosk was so rudeβ¦ He never greeted me, I didnβt know if he was there to fix a machine or take our order. I know this pandemic has made some people monsters to deal with but when you work with the public thereβs a certain level of professionalism you have and there was NONE here. As a popular tour guide I will NOT recommend anyone to to Island Vintage Shaved Ice. As soon as I walked away the same little guy who directed me to place my order( in a low tone) on the screen he was willing and cheerfully helping another person. My money spend the same as anyone else. I was very disappointed and definitely will find another company to give my money to. Shaved Ice was mediocre at best.
Amazing place. Got in a line behind 30 people, but well worth the wait. Make sure to stop by every year when in Oahu. Will definitely be back next year!
Love the finely shaved ice with fresh fruit topping. Great taste, not too sweet and not filling, just right!
Great out door mall. Lots of high end shops Great selections of restaurants.
This place may have ruined me for all other shave ice. It was the first place I had it 2 years ago and was so mindblowing I have craved it ever since. They make it with frozen yogurt in the center, shave ice surrounding with blends of fruit and sweetened condensed milk and popping boba surrounding. Is there anywhere else that makes it like this? If so I want to know. Other places Iβve tried are just like snow cones. This place stands apart to me.We got heavenly lillikoi and pink island. Both AMAZING.
Good shave ice. Is it worth the long wait and $8+ price tag? Absolutely not IMO. I think they probably benefited from being one of the few shave ice joints in Waikiki so they charge a fortune (maybe for slightly better ingredients but letβs be honest, itβs just ice plus artificial flavors).
The shaved ice was really good, but there was only one guy! The line was really long which is why I took a star off. Help the guy out! I think one more person could fit in the booth :)
Ive been to 5 different shave ice locations in my short time on Oahu, and this was the best. The ice was malleable, the mix-ins offered were appealing, the amount was worth the price and it all looked so appealing. The line was 40-minutes on a Wednesday, but if you can get there with no line - go for it.
Greatest most amazing treat my wife n I have ever experienced, writing this review 3 years later. Ive traveled the world over & nothing has ever compared to this dessert. It is a must stop in Waikiki. If I had to make a last meal request it would be this. Pure magic π₯°
Loved this shaved ice place i went back 3 times while i was in Waikiki
I tried it thinking it was like a snowcone but its something totally different. I chose flavors that I like but I did not like the coconut flavor at all. The mango was good, thankfully. Overall Im not a fan.
I am a huge fan of shaved ice. I can definitely say this is the best shaved ice I ever had. If you are in Oahu, do stop at this spot. When we went, they were out of mango flavor, so we took one of their signatures βHeavenly Lilikoiβ and it tasted heaven. The strawberry seeds, passion fruit seeds, blueberries and bobas were all coming together so good, just want to be there and grab one again.
A little pricy but the convenience factor if being near our resort, and: lilikoi strawberry coconut made my day.
Surprised at how good this place was. Itβs in the shopping area at a kiosk on the sidewalk. It was a bit hard to find at first because we were running all over looking for it before they closed. The flavors are amazing. We got a bunch of them and they all came out amazing. Might not be as well known as some of the other shaved ice spots... which means itβs easier to get and enjoy.
Tastes Better than Matsumoto. But at 4 times the price. 12.50 is too expensive imo
If you are ever in Oahu this is a must visit place for shave ice. There is not a better shave ice place on the whole island. Our kids loved it so much they wouldnt stop talking about it and we had to drive an hour just to visit this place again. All of their shave ice selections are really good. Really wish they had more locations
This is the best shaved ice I have ever eaten! This is not the typical shaved ice with just sugary syrup. This is super flavorful with all natural ice cream laying beneath of it topped with fresh fruits and yummy mochi and boba on the side, so it is a volcano of flavor! It is a long wait but it is worth it because you wonβt find any other shaved ice like that anywhere else. Must try!
Always open later than supposed to and never have all the things on the menu. The shave ice is good, but definitely not worth an hour of your life especially when they dont tell you that theyre out of pretty much everything ten minutes after they open. So why would your waste your time on vacation, pay double price and get rude attitude from the staff and not even get what you really wanted? Instagram? To tell your friends you had it? Do yourself a service and go elsewhere. I definitely will.
The location is not pretty much correct on Google map. It looks like the store is located in the building of Royal Hawaiian Center on the map but actually is is located on the roadside. I had βtropical islandβ and it was really good. Thereβs no table but you can have it around Royal Hawaiian Center. There are lots of benches. The price is quite reasonable I guess. Tropical Island was $7.95.
My wife is allergic to dairy so I can only imagine how much this would be if you added ice cream or frozen yogurt.Needless to say, this was amazing. Ive had shaved ice before but something about this shaved ice was just so different in a great way. This is our first shaved ice on Hawaii so maybe its just the level offered here thats so much better and I hope it is!
Im not a fan a shaved ice in general, but this place changed my opinion completely. The ingredients tastes fresh and the best part is their homemade mochi which balances the excess sweetness from shaved ice to an extent. The line can get long after 9 PM, so better to come here during noon. This is one of the few places I didnt mind staying longer than 20 mins in line.
So delicious. Wish they had a non dairy ice cream or yogurt base.
Distinguishable shave ice. Sits on top of a very creamy frozen yogurt. Its like no other taste!
Got a regular build your own strawberry mango. Super good.
Delicious shaved ice piled on top of ice cream/frozen yogurt. Had to wait in line for 45 minutes during a busy time and it was worth it!
A truly and unique dining experience that stands far and apart from the normal fair. Whats more is the staff thats very informative and engaging. The flavor is complex, abundant, and will keep you coming back!
Seriously so good. I had my doubts about ice cream and ice together, but they proved me wrong the fresh fruit was 10/10 and the mochi was my favorite part
The heavenly lilikoi was awesome! Great passion fruit (lilikoi) flavor and all of the toppings were great! There was a bit of a wait (~30 min) but it was worth it! Highly highly recommend visiting for a great shaved ice!
Little hut on the sidewalk, super busy but quick service. Takes all major credit cards. Had the heavenly ice shave, which is half strawberry half passion fruit. The surprise? In the middle of the shaved ice is frozen yogurt! And I donβt normally like frozen yogurt but they made it delicious. Another highlight from this was the mochi bits. Highly recommend
Interesting location its in Royal Hawaiian shopping center very very very busy anytime Ive ever been there price point is on the higher side so I imagine that is because of the rent structure in Royal Hawaiian shopping center so you cant blame the store. But everything there was considerably overpriced a water flask $42 I mean really youre trying to make the rent on everything you sell? Seating was next to near impossible and cultures that are usually a little quiet polite were fairly aggressive to find a place and sit down not the best experience. Try it see what you think let me know.
Huge rip off, I genuinely do not understand the good reviews. Shave Ice is twice the price here and nothing particularly good about it. They take island time to a whole new level and you will wait a ridiculously long amount of time even if there is no crowd. they were out of half of the flavors when I was there. Find another place for shave ice, this aint it.
One of the very few places where I got to experience shaved ice while staying in Honolulu, and was my favourite. The food itself was delicious. The fruit sauces that decorated the ice was fresh and you could tell it wasnt your typical syrups of sugar and flavouring, it was crushed fruit. In the centre of the shaved ice you also get a nice treat of getting some ice cream.Service here is great, however if it is busy expect to experience some delays approximately between 20-30 mins to get your order. My favourite order was number 1 which you will see in the photos but I cant remember the name of it.If you are in Waikiki definitely check this place out!
First Hawaiian Shave Ice experience. Most excellent. Highly recommend it!
