UPDATE: I have received multiple calls, follow up and help from Raul who helped troubleshoot the below problem to the cylinder head bolts not being sealed with thread sealant during initial build, which is an incorrect build. I took them out one by one, applied thread sealant and re-torqued the bolts at Raul’s advice and no more leaks. Engine goes in tomorrow and soon to be run to test. Raul has been extreme helpful and friendly as has always been the case, just wish I had not had to go through weeks of stress and myriad on line, BBB, etc. complaints to get the contact path flowing again. I have moved my star rating from 1 to 3, with better communication it would easily be a 4 or 5.Hello Raul,Please return my phone calls and e-mails. I am unable to contact you on your work are cell phone numbers.I have praised your company for years and purchased (2) engines from you, so I am sure you can image my surprise at receiving the silent treatment. I have contacted the BBB for assistance in convincing you to answer with a phone call also. As one of my voicemails stated, please do not be fearful to call, I merely wish to discuss the below topic with you in a gentlemanly fashion:In summary - the long block engine I purchased from you a couple of month back is now built-up and ready to install in my boat. I installed a fresh water system and decided to pressure test before installing the engine and I could not hold pressure. To my surprise the engine is leaking air at both head gaskets areas, aft, outboard section of the cylinder heads, and along the outboard sides.Again, I merely wish to discuss the best way forward to get this engine working and into my boat. This does not necessarily mean any financial investment for you, lawsuit, or other hardship.

Bought a 5.7 350 Vortec Long Block from him last August. Had it installed in September but didnt have a chance to test it out till this spring. The first time out a rod blew right through. For the past month both me and my mechanic have been trying to reach them a few times a day and email. They wont pick up the phone or return a call or email. Horrible customer serviceUPDATE: Your 100% wrong. after everyone I knew called you, you finally picked up the phone. Then when we tried calling you back you wouldnt pick back up. Warning to anyone do not do business with this company everyone says the same thing even with the BBB. They are a scam company and once they have your money they will never reply to your emails and calls. Go anywhere else but these guys.

READ THIS !!! Bought a 5.7 V-8 Mercrusier. In 2013 a rebuilt engine. Yes 2013. Had it shipped to Chicago. Just dewinterized it. RUNS EXCELLENT STILL. have a total of 350 hours on it. 650 on the boat. Fires right up after the long cold winter. I can reccomend Rapido Marine 100%.

Purchased a complete 5.7 vortec to replaced a pre vortec 5.7. Rapido Marine was very conscientious to quality and details like catching a weep hole leak from water pump after initial run before shipment and replaced water pump. Raul has been helpful with technical assistance through the process. Discovered my exhaust manifolds from original engine were leaking which caused damage that led to this purchase, waiting on manifolds and risers now.

Was mislead, promised and then no return phone calls. His lies cost me time and money. Claims to do over 1000 engines a year. Thats more than 3 a day for 7 days a week 365 days a year. I dont think so.

Awesome Team and service at Rapido Marine! Raul, Angel and Carla were very helpful and worked hard to make sure my 305 to 350 GM long block transplant is set up for success. Previous 305 long block from a big name rebuilder lasted less than 50 hrs due to coolant in the combustion chamber damaging the piston and cylinder wall. Rapido does all grinding and machining in house and they know their stuff !Sean

I bought an engine from them in September of 2017. Last month it had two cylinders fail. This engine had 370-380 hours on it. So not bad for a $1700 Miami engine in my book. However, when I removed it from the boat I noticed every since freeze plug had been leaking in the bell housing (automotive freeze plugs). Engine was a reverse rotation engine yet they had a standard rotation rear main seal in it(which leaked from day 1). Lastly, the pistons were never turned for it being a reverse rotation engine. Like I said for the money I’m ok with it only lasting this long but not using the correct parts for the engine your building is a problem.

Update to my last review. Was given a certain price for shipping then when it did finally ship out a week later than I was told originally I was charged more for shipping. I called Raul and he kinda had an attitude about it but said he would look into it and call me back. Never did I called several times and left messages but no one called back. They are just after a sale I guess don’t care about customer service. I’d be Leary if they even honored the warranty.

My Rapido engine had oil pressure issues after the ten hour break in. The cost make a crate and ship it back to Florida cost half as much as I paid for the engine, so the warranty is useless.My mechanic opened up the motor and discovered that all the main bearings were wiped out from debris inside the engine. Basically Rapido did not properly clean engine before assembly and it wiped out the bearings on start up. You can actually see the grit embedded in the bearings.Also I found out they sold me an engine that was bored out 0.060”, which should never been sold as a marine engine.

Bought a motor for my boat from them. He said he didnt have any standard motors ready but he did have one with flattop pistons ready to ship out but it would be $100 more. So me wanting my motor soon I agreed. Got the motor and no flat top pistons. He tried to say I didnt know what I was talking about on the phone then I sent him a text with a pic of the piston part # and a pic of the top of the piston where you can clearly see its a dished piston. Never replied back. They pull you in by advertising cheap prices and try to get every penny out of you when you do purchase. Id go elsewhere. If you lie about the pistons who knows what else is wrong inside the engine .

We bought the 4.3 V6 with the flat topped piston upgrade. Great motor. Great service. Great price and amazing performance! Not a reman. All new parts! Pay attention to what youre buying and you will not consider any other, anywhere else. Period.

Bought a 350 engine for a 5.7L Mercruiser from them in August 2019. Found in the spring of 2020 that the block was cracked. Upon further inspection they sold me a block that was previously cracked that they tried to weld. They have refused to answer the phone or any emails since June. Will not reply to any messages, not even a complaint with the BBB. Now Im out almost $2K while paying for an additional engine.

Replaced my fathers engine for a 26 Coastal. Raul was great, he explained the engine and specs so I could get the right engine without even asking my father! They got the engine to me on time for his birthday and he was thrilled with the quality of the engine. We used one of the installers in our area he recommended and that weekend we had a blast on the Potomac. The engine ran smoothly and we have been enjoying having the vessel back on the water!

I purchased a 4.3L long block. Nice price, good shipping and now have 4 years without any major problems with that engine.One non-critical problem is that it was never well balanced and has vibration at 1800-2000 rpm. Perhaps the harmonic balancer is off a bit? I never run at that rpm so it doesnt affect me and Im otherwise happy with the engine.

Rapido Marine is a really amazing company! The 350 engine I bought to replace my 305 cost $500-$1000 less than I could find from other websites. They shipped to me in 2 days and it only cost $150 which blew my mind. Most impressive was the customer service. The owner answered all my questions before I bought the engine so I was very confident that the engine was going to work for me. After I received the engine he was also very helpful with advice on getting the accessories swapped over. I later discovered that he had thrown in an additional upgrade which made installing my oil deflector much simpler. I would definitely recommend this company.

Rip off. Claims builds all these engines and has on hand. Mine was supposed to take 2 weeks. Constant excuses when I called. Finally a month later the engine is done. Arrives flipped over. All the gaskets crushed. Gaskets were wrong anyway and so was the oil pump. Raul lies over and over with excuses and never follows thru. Engines are assembled with automotive gaskets not marine! Raul claims they have less trouble ? They are called marine gaskets for a reason. Read up on these people. Stay away !

I bought a 350 marine engine from this Company about a week ago. The transaction was efficient and the engine was here pretty quickly. There was an issue with the billing and I called and spoke to the owner. He handled it very professionally and resolved the problem right away. The engine is currently being installed by a local Marina and the mechanic said the engine looks good so far. I will update this when it is running and in the water! As for the purchase transaction, I would recommend this company to anyone!

Searched the internet...rapido had the best reviews so I decided to go with them for my 1997 mercruiser 5.7...now my boat is 1998...year the vortec came out from gm.. but my boat was built with the older 5.7 638 block...the owner of rapido..Raul...saw this as a red flag...called me himself to confirm I was ordering the correct engine I needed...and even threw in a flat top piston upgrade free of charge...I refurbish boats in my spare time and I will be using rapido again on my next rebuild projects

I dont even know where to start... long story short. After my order was completed and Im thinking everythings good and should be on its way they call me 2 days later requesting more information to ensure I was getting the right motor. Which I gave them what they wanted. Then said it was going to be more money then advertised for the flat top pistons and EVEN MORE money to have it shipped to my house instead of a business. It was shipped days late. Arrived 2 days after the delivery date. Finally got time to work on it and find out its not the same. Mine had rollers and the one they sent me has flat tappets. The counterweight on the crank looks like someone beat on it with a hammer. The motor they sent will work its just not as good. Anyway I call them on a Monday and get no answer. Finally get ahold of them and the guy I spoke to aside from being unprofessional as hell he plays it off like this motors better and yadda yadda. I tell him I need to know what crank is in it. Then ask him to quote me for heada and pushrod because mine having rollers my push roads are to short. Guy tells me to call back hes about to be conducting sea trials tried calling back since Monday and no answer. I emailed and no response. This companies rating is a joke. The dude I spoke to is a complete idiot and I wouldnt reccomend this place at all. I really hope this motor operates fine because I can only imagine the nightmare trying to warrant something with these bums.

WOW! It was bad enough blowing the port side inboard V8 Mercruiser on my Wellcraft,finding someone to rebuild it was daunting to say the least. I checked out a few shops but price and knowledge was important for me in choosing. Rapido Marine came to my rescue. After talking with the owner Raul he assured me he and his crew could get this done quickly and RIGHT the first time. He kept his word. Very professional I am very happy with the engine as it runs beautifully. I would highly recommend Rapido Marine for your engine rebuild!

Very poor service, took 20 times calling them to speak to someone, the owner acted like he didn’t even want to talk to us. Bought a 1700 dollar motor that they claimed was a new block which certainly was not, we put 5 hours on and it failed so we called them back and they pointed the finger at us. We will never give them my business again nor refer them. That’s the thing with these big Marine places is that they’re only worried about cranking as many motors as possible with no quality. Give your hometown business’ your money before these shmucks.

Bought an engine, paid for a cam and valvespring upgrade.... the valve springs were clearly used and was told they would be installing new springs matched to the cam. I primed the oil pump and it pumped sludge out of the pushrods. I have pictures and video of this. On thier website they claim to install new valves, springs and keepers. None of these things were new. It looks like they just bolted used heads on and spray painted them. I called to ask about it and see what they would do to make it right and he said hed have someone call me back, that hasnt happened. Since then Ive called several times and I get no answer. Im just crossing my fingers and installing it anyways. I wouldnt buy anything from this company again . Im very disappointed . Hopefully it will at least run well.

On July 24, 2015 I stopped by Rapido Marine to get an estimate for a 302 long block for my Shamrock 20. I spoke to Raul. I found Raul to be personable, knowledgeable, and informative. Not only did he offer me a long block at the price advertised on Rapido’s web site, but he offered me a complete factory new 302 engine with a 351 cam for a reasonable price. I was not prepared to purchase but left a small deposit anyways and returned on Monday the 27th with a pickup truck. I opted for the complete factory new engine after considering Raul had pointed out that the engine in my Shamrock was an original 28 year old raw (salt) water engine. Raul removed the plastic wrapping to verify that the new engine had everything properly bolted intact, was undamaged, and complete. I paid for the engine, completed the paper work, verified Rapido’s warranty. They loaded it in the back of my pickup. The experience was not only expedient, less than an hour, but was a pleasure. I was treated like a long time valued customer though we had just met. I will not only recommend Raul and Rapido, but will be a repeat customer.

Stay Away form this company, you will chase them to get your engine done, Mine blew up after 10 minutes and they wont even respond back. I had to file a BBB case, worst customer service. Save your money and spend it somewhere else, they have 0 customer service and they will not call you back or honor any warranty. I had to keep calling from different phone numbers in order to get a hold of Raul.

I would like to go ahead and say it, the name of this business doesnt instill confidence. My experience with them was exceptional.We purchased a Mastercraft with a cracked block from not being winterized. We got a great deal on an almost mint condition boat, however we did need to replace the engine. The marina quoted us $800 more for a short block, then the Rapido price on a long block. We had the same marina put the engine in, and they made several comments on how impressed they were with the rebuild quality. We put over 80 hours on it pulling skiers/tubes, and it is still runs perfectly. We were skeptical before ordering, but I wouldnt hesitate to purchase from Rapido again.

I have an 86 OMC 4.3 I/O, sense they didnt have one in stock I up graded to a newer year model 4.3 and found out it would not couple to an 86 OMC out drive so Raul paid the shipping back to replace it with 86 4.3 motor that he got in stock after I received the newer model.

I had placed an order and have waited 9 days with many different excuses from them of why it has not shipped out when they claim it was done also in the many calls I made and messages left they never called me back when finally got a hold of someone he told me that they dont have any 4.3 engines to build at all and beware this company does not use marine felpro gaskets that they advertise try ATK MARINE NORTH AMERICA if you want a good solid company
