I met Elizabeth Ann at her studio at the Monroe Center. It was an open house, and how grateful I am that I stumbled in to Eat Metal. I had several rings, from my mother and grandmother that I inherited. They were all sitting in a jewelry box, not being worn. I made an appointment with Beth Ann to bring in all my jewelry. We sat together for an hour as I shared the stories of each ring and the memories I had. I remember holding my grandmothers hand and twisting her engagement ring around her finger as a child, just delighted to be close to her. I missed my mom who had worn Grandmas ring until she died a few years ago. I had so many pieces of my history. Beth Ann and I spent about 8 months, designing a ring, we called The Circle of Life. All of the platinum was melted to make one special ring. Each diamond was used, even the tiniest, because I wanted one ring I would wear which would be the history of my life. The diamond that I wear closest to my heart is my grandmothers. The rubies were in celebration of the birth of my first son, a Leo. Beth Ann started with sketches and we worked together creating a ring I now wear every day. It was an emotional process and I came to respect and love the way that Beth Ann worked with me. Beth Ann created something new for me, going forward in this chapter of my life. And everyday, I see and feel the love of the people who wore parts of this ring during their lifetime. Beth Ann probably has some better photos to post, but I wanted to give such a big thank you, to the woman who helped me tell my story in combining all my memories. I have never met anyone finer that could have gone through this process with me. She is creative, gifted, technical, funny and smart. And she listens. I have such gratitude. Thank you Beth Ann.
BethAnn is the best. Crafted my custom engagement ring. She designed a piece to embody my fiancé, then obsessed over the small functional details only known to a seasoned artist. Can not recommend enough.
I hired BethAnn to come teach a class for my girl scout troop (age 10). She picked the perfect piece for them to make. She explained everything thoroughly, then helped the girls step by step through the process. They have a new appreciation for making jewelry, and they feel proud that they made their own piece. BethAnn also taught them about tools and different materials, and the many different ways jewelry is made. I would highly recommend Eatmetal for any kids program, party or girl scout event! She is a fabulous teacher, patient and fun!Now I want to take her adult class, since the girls had so much fun and made a great piece of jewelry. :) Shannon DiNotaFeb 2021 ....I wanted to add a new review about the pieces of jewelry BethAnn has repurposed in a unique and incredible way! I have lost a few valuable pieces, and she has created a new piece of jewelry, and in the end I liked what she made more than the original piece! I would highly recommend if you lose a precious piece or a piece of jewelry you like, contact EatMetal to repurpose! Check out the pics below!
Engagement/wedding/anniversary bands newly created, reconditioned or refashioned - this is the ONLY PLACE for you!! Beth Ann is truly a visionary. Her business is amazing and her work is beyond phenomenal. Her attention to detail and artistry combined is truly unmatched. I trusted her to re-create my wedding band when my original was compromised in its setting of 12 years. I was in awe of her understanding of and commitment to a piece that was so precious to me - it was as if she were working on her own ring. I cant thank Beth Ann and her team enough!
I recently hired EatMetal to redesign my wedding and engagement rings to create brand new rings to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I worked directly with the owner, Elizabeth. She took the project so seriously and personally and made sure I was comfortable from both a design and budget standpoint every step of the way. The new rings are absolutely gorgeous, I can’t stop staring at them. Working with EatMetal was such a pleasant experience, I am already looking at their website so I can add some more unique, custom pieces to my jewelry collection!
I wanted to make the perfect engagement ring for my fiancé and Beth Ann really helped that happen. She made the whole process seem easy. I only had a small idea of what I want and no real way of expressing it. Beth Ann helped turn my vision into a reality. We only had one sit down together and in no time we came up with the perfect design. She also is very easy to work with through email. I lived about an hour away and she made it seem easy. Beth Ann also work really hard to find the perfect diamond in my price range. The entire process was so easy and handled in a timely manner. So if youre looking to design that perfect piece of jewelry for someone EatMetal Art Jewelry is that place.
My friends and I attended a private event at EatMetal last week, we had an AMAZING time. Elizabeth is a phenomenal teacher!!! We had chosen to make hammered copper bracelets which we all adored. She had all the demonstrations prepared for us when we arrived. It seemed like we had maybe picked something a little over our heads, but Elizabeth was great at having us try something new (or not) for those of us not as confident. Her studio is absolutely gorgeous... I can honestly say we had such a great night we will surely be back soon!!
My friends and I attended a private workshop at EatMetal and it was a great experience. Elizabeth is a great teacher and not only was it a fun day with my friends, we loved the bracelet that we made. We had to pick the piece of jewelry we wanted to make in advance - the hardest part was choosing one piece since there were so many great options. You can also bring your own food and drinks so its a great day out with friends. I also got to see Elizabeths jewelry and Ill likely be back for another workshop or to go shopping.
I just hosted 12 girl friends for a weekend and worked with Beth Ann at EatMetal to conduct a jewelry activity at my home, and I highly recommend them! She was so professional from start to finish and worked with me to plan and customize a project, materials and time that was best for all. She had amazing patience and helped us all throughout the event. Everyone had a wonderful time and we all ended up with a gorgeous bracelet that will be always be memorable. Its a great idea for a group of friends whether you go to their studio or have them come to you! Donna
I had an earring making workshop at Eat Metal Studio and now eager to try more! Its a perfect crafty night if you like to work with your hands - you will take a piece of jewelry home and learn about jewelry making techniques. Studio owner, artist and teacher, Elizabeth, is very helpful, truly enthusiastic and creative. She is also a great customer service. Very inspiring working atmosphere, thank you very much!
I have visited Elizabeth a couple of times now for presents for my wife and each time I couldnt be more satisfied. Her attention to detail is amazing. Both times I went in with just the basic idea of what I wanted and she showed me ideas right away that were spot on. The quality of the pieces were exceptional and the designs were creative. I highly recommend if you are looking for a custom piece, Elizabeth at EatMetal is the place to visit.
EAT Metal helped me repair and redesign my wedding ring for my 10 year anniversary! My ring had taken quite a beating because I wear it every day and I work a lot with my hands. Plus I had some extra diamonds that I wanted to add in to make it more sparkly. She re-worked the design so that the setting is not as high and yet really shows off the diamonds! It was a very collaborative process and I feel the the ring really fits both my personality and lifestyle. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new ring and after 10 years of marriage I kinda feel like I just got engaged again;-))))) I would recommend her to anyone looking to reset old pieces and make them new!
I took a jewelry making class from Elizabeth with a group of women. We all had an amazing time and went home with a beautiful bracelet. Elizabeth explains everything so well, demonstrates but lets you actually make the piece yourself. Definitely recommend and its a great girls night out!
I had a custom engagement ring designed and the whole process and result were fantastic. I came in with only a concept and Elizabeth sat with me to discuss the ring design for a long time with no pressure to be rushed out the door. The final piece was perfect.
I hopped off the NJ light rail into a cool industrial area in Hoboken. Eat Metal was located in a fun office/business building, which Elizabeth told me, used to house plenty of artists. I came for a double private instruction, which lasted all day. Just what I needed! the whole experience reminded me of working with my high school art teacher, who brought me into the quiet, magical cove of creation. I learned several techniques: hammering, torching, buffing, polishing to create perfect ( in my mind at least) pieces and left with a feeling of having done something worthwhile. Elizabeth was helpful, attentive---all the niceties, but you could tell she was a professional, a craftsman, educated in her skill, and must have experience teaching and leading you to learn things rather than dragging you along and watering things down ( to me this is more valuable). Id love to go back!!!
Elizabeth Ann can be trusted to take your personal interest and combine it with her artful talent, knowledge, and design experience to create a piece of extrodinary beauty and meaning. My engagement ring stone is now a contributor to an heirloom necklace reflecting past, present, and future in a way that only someone with her insight and technical expertise could. Thanks for a great experience, beginning to end. Looking forward to working with you again.
I organized a girls night out for 5 friends at EatMetal. We had a great time! Beth Ann was very patient and fun while we all made our unique bracelets. Each one fit our personalities and individual styles. I would definitely recommend EatMetal!
Fabulous place! We (4 girlfriends) did the earrings and had a great time. Super friendly and very attentive to the group. 100 percent engaged for the complete time.
Had my fiances grandmothers ring reset into a new setting and Betty worked with me thru all of the process. From different sketches and designs to completely resizing the ring for me a few times aswell. Definitely recommended to anyone looking to surprise their significant other or just to customize a preexisting ring ! Thank you for everything Betty :)
My daughter-in-law received the Chai necklace and was thrilled. I am so impressed with your fast service, your attention to detail, your presentation and your lovely thank you note!! Thank you so much!Debbie
Great studio to learn about jewelry making and metalsmithing. Elizabeths friendly teaching style and enthusiastic personality makes her a natural instructor - helping this novice jewelry maker feel confident in my metalsmithing skills and creative choices. Im just days away from beginning my 3rd class with Elizabeth and I cant wait to get started! Highly recommend....
My 9 year old daughter attended summer camp and LOVED IT!!!! The small classes afford a lot of individual attention and she proudly brought home the lovely pieces she had created.
Highly recommend EatMetal, Elizabeth is the kind of person who will go out of her way to help you! And beyond that she is an incredibly talented custom jeweler - I had taken old engagement rings to her and within a week she had turned them into a pair of beautiful sapphire earrings that I gave to my sister - And she loved them!!!
I contacted Beth after seeing some of her work on instagram. She has a wonderful way of highlighting the stones and using metal in beutifully geometric shapes. She helped me to make a 60th birthday present for my mother using stones from a broken piece of jewelry that was fiven to her from a family member who had passed away. It was very special and Beth was fun to work with. She is creative but also listened to my vision and worked with me to make it my vision as well. I hope to work with her again and highly recommend her for anyone looking for a special, unique piece of jewelry!
I had my daughters 7th bday here and from beginning to end Elizabeth was extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. She helped us to decide on the best project for her and her friends to do during the birthday and her and her assistants helped the girls throughout the party to assemble and work on their necklaces. My daughter had a lot of fun with her friends and it was something different than the normal activities for a birthday party in Hoboken. The studio is beautiful with big windows and lots of light. The studio during the time we were there showcased other works of art by other jewelry artists as well which was nice. Elizabeth and her assistants were really great with the girls and was able to guide and lead them to making a beautiful creation.I am looking forward to working at the studio again and maybe try one of her workshops. My daughter and her friends really had a great time and had plenty of time after they completed their piece for cake and snacks afterwards. Its a lovely space so go check it out and see what EATMETAL has to offer!
