We love this family-owned business in Hilo! Their prices are very fair and they have a good selection of furniture. We bought our dining room set, 2 couches, and a cozy chair from Yamada. All items were delivered for free and they even put together the dining room set during delivery. Their customer service is excellent and they keep you informed of status on a regular basis. We will continue to go to Yamada for our future furniture needs.

Went to buy some furniture during business hours, got there and there was a sign on the door saying appointment only. We were about to leave and a lady came out pushing a cart and asked is what we wanted. I told her then she said shed let is in, but only after recording our address, phone number, temperature check, hand sanitizer, and disposable gloves were put on. After which, she unlocked the door. Got inside then she asked again, told her again, then she said they were out of stock. She disappeared, clearly not interested in talking or helping us. All of the furniture we wanted to see was covered by sheets, so with no help, we decided to leave. When leaving my 91 year old mother asked of she could us the restroom and was told no, it is for them only, no exceptions. We had been there before and had great service by a very sociable owner, but this experience kind of killed it for my mom who wanted to buy several new pieces. Dont know if well go back or not. Id give it one star for that day, and four for the other time we went. I guess it just depends on who unlocks the door.

I was amazed at the customer care provided. It was personal concierge style. I was looking for a recliner and was taught about so many different facts. Did you know there are over 40 different sizes of recliners? I never knew so much about buying furniture and the different comfort levels provided along with the size of the person, length of the legs, etc.I had personal service while choosing the perfect reclining love seat for my husband and myself. The care went all the way to helping provide our grandchildren their mattresses and what would be the best fit for our guest room.The owner phoned after our personal shop, before the delivery and afterwards to assure everything was satisfactory. We have moved to Hilo from New York. Once establishing a rental home we needed to furnish the entire thing! Yamada has a wide selection of living room and dining room furniture as well as dressers and lamps. Wonderful recliners too. I had the experience of a knowledgeable son in that family stuff and restuff a recliner to fit my lumbar weakness three times. He never lost patience or politeness. This place has a huge showroom! I was like a kid in a candy store checking out every piece of furniture. Mahea went above and beyond to make sure I found the right item. Imagine trying to purchase a chair during the pandemic when a display room is closed to in-house visits and you only have technology to rely on to “see” something. I still don’t think that your google listing should have “in store shopping” if you don’t allow it. I still think your website should be more user friendly, and should have prices listed. This would allow for less frustrating client experience. There are ways to do it, even if your prices constantly change. And no, I didn’t fill out an online questionnaire just to find out what is the price of an item I liked. I can’t imagine filling out a questionnaire for every item I want to know how much it costs.

After a lifetime of used furniture, and hand me downs, I decided to get some brand new furniture. I found exactly what I was looking for at Yamada Furniture. Everything is expensive here, but you get what you pay for. Yamada Furniture offers free delivery, and I had my furniture delivered on time with no problem. The delivery guys set up my couch and love seat exactly where I wanted it. All in all, buying from Yamada Furniture was a good experience.

Claira was delightful, she allowed us to walk around without trying to sell and we appreciated the space. We did buy a couch set. It has a nice chaise lounge. After only a month our fur baby decided she needed to mark it!! So I called Yamada they were incredibly helpful, getting me the price of the new cushion and also letting me know how to get it cleaned. These are the people to buy from because they are still there for you even after youve purchased from them and I just love that.

They didnt hover over me as I took my time to check out a few different living room sets, but they stayed nearby and were right there to answer any questions. I had just moved to Hilo and needed a dresser. Yamada Furniture was the first place that popped up on my search. So I decided to check it out. Before I even walked in Clara greated me at the door. I didnt have the measurements for the space I had in mind for a dresser. Clara grabbed a measuring tape and helped me find something that I thought could possibly fit. I took a pic of the dresser and wrote the dimensions down. I told her Id have to go home to measure the area.
