I am very disappointed with this company, because I have been in communication with them regarding burial of a 250 gallons propane tank for our new pool. My initial contact with this company was by telephone (June 2021) to inquire about the starting cost for this work. They informed me that it would start at $3200 (military discount), plus any additional cost. A few weeks later a couple of their employees visited my home site for a survey. On the first visit, Eddie did not inform me that he wouldnt accept the job. The second visit, he surveyed the area for offloading the sand (no sand was delivered) and still he didnt say he wouldnt accept this job. Since Eddie conducted these site visits, I assumed that we had a gentlemen agreement, until time came to start the work, since no gas heater was connected. During Eddies second visit, I had informed Eddie, once the heater arrives and the pool company had it connected, I would contact him. The heater was installed (Oct 21). Eddie indicated that he would stop by, but never did, until I contacted the Owner David Cole. The purpose of contacting the owner was to establish a good start date for digging to begin. On 9 Oct 21, Eddie stopped by my home to see where we wanted to bury the propane tank, at least, I thought we would confirm a digging date. During his home site visit on 9 Oct 21, less than 5 minutes into our conversation, Eddie said that he would pass on this work, and provided me with all kind of reasons for backing out of our agreement. Eddie said that the price for burying this propane tank would cost roughly $4500 vice the initial burying cost of $3200. After meeting with Eddie, I called the Owner David Cole, and told him that I was very disappointed with Eddies decision, since I did not research any other businesses, because I assumed we had an agreement. Now, I have to find another company that can perform the requested work.I guess overall, I am disappointed in this company, because I was lead to believe that we had a gentlemen agreement for this work to begin. I would advise to have a written agreement for the cost and work to be performed by this company.

We were using Startex for propane but we spent almost $5000 on propane in one year for a doublewide mobile home and we knew there was a leak or something so we paid them to check it and they said it was fine and blamed our old house for lack of insulation so they continued to sell us huge amounts of propane.. about $400 a month. So we decided to find a new propane supplier and we saw Poor Boys had good reviews so we went with them and on the first visit he discovered the valve on the tank had a huge leak, apparently Startex only checks the line they dont check your tank at all. Poor Boys fixed my tank, now many months ago, and it hasnt leaked since and today they refilled my tank and did a leak check for free (I was charged by startex $15 for the leak test and they didnt even look at the tank) So we are super happy with this company and will never go back to Startex. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Our local propane dealer is so awful, we travel to Poor Boys just for the amazing customer service. We called about a leak, they were there within the hour. They even helped us move our propane tank 50 feet back. Absolutely above and beyond service!!
