Very dissapointed in the service .The woman I spoke to didnt seem to know much about hearing aids or insurance coverage. Went there to purchase one hearing aid for help with ringing in one ear. She kept trying to sell me two and tried to miss lead me on pricing.

We began to notice a change in our Mother, especially at family gatherings. She didn’t join in on the conversations like she used to and seemed to be withdrawing from us. We convinced her to get her hearing checked by Jim Young at Best Value Hearing Center in Hickory. Jim gave so much time and attention to Mom, explaining everything he would be doing and answering all her questions, which made her feel very comfortable through all the testing. She was fitted with a pair of hearing aids, and is so happy with the results. I don’t know if I can find the words to express how this has brought our Mother back to us. She can now join in our conversations; she is happy and excited to have everyone around again. She is once again the center of our family, rather than sitting quietly to the side. About six years ago I purchased my first set of hearing aids from a competitor. I never felt they helped my hearing very much and was never happy with them. A few years ago I had a problem with one of the hearing aids. I was told they could not be fixed in the office and would have to be sent back to the factory at the cost of more than a hundred dollars. By happenstance I was in the Best Value Hearing Care office in Hickory with my wife. While there I mentioned to Donna the problem with my hearing aid. She said “let me take a look at it”. After a few minutes she returned with the hearing aid repaired. When I asked the cost, she said “no charge, maybe when you need your next set of hearing aids you will come to us”.A year ago one of those hearing aids died. Without hesitation, I went back to Best Value Hearing Care in Hickory and purchased the Cadillac of hearing aids. In addition to helping my regular hearing, they had the ability, through a separate device, to connect to my cell phone and TV. That turned out to be a fantastic benefit and works wonderfully. Over the last year I have gone back to the office on a number of occasions to fine tune my hearing aids. Without exception, I have found the office staff to be very helpful and cooperative. And, the customer support I have received from Jim Young has been nothing short of outstanding!

I recently purchased hearing aids from Best Value Hearing Center in Hickory, NC for my mother who resides in a Nursing Home. The hearing aids come with a one-time loss or damage warranty (with a reasonable handling fee). One of her aids was lost at the facility. Jim Young, at Best Value, promptly replaced the aid at the agreed upon price, and met with us to give the same careful adjustment to the replacement aid that he had given originally. He was compassionate, thorough, and fair in his dealings with us. I would recommend Best Value to anyone seeking fair and prompt service for a replacement aid. It should also be mentioned that the office staff at Best Value were courteous, prompt, and helpful.
I went to Best Value Hearing Care Center with my husband to get his hearing checked. I have been wearing hearing aids for close to 25 years but not from here. I liked the way they explained things to him. He only needed one, but I ordered 2. I thought my old ones were doing a fine job, boy was I wrong. After the new ones were adjusted I went home to a new world. I took my dog outside and it was starting to rain. I realized I hadnt heard the rain hitting the leaves in a long time. I just stood and listened to the rain till my dog must have thought Id lost my mind. Now I love to go outside and listen to the birds again. You dont realize youve lost part of your hearing till you get it back. If you are having problems hearing this is the place to go, the staff is understanding and very helpful.

My grandmother received a invite in the mail for a free hearing test. She had no need for it but my boyfriend has some hearing difficulties so we decided to go. The staff was very friendly on the phone when setting the appointment and confirming it. When we arrived it didnt necessarily look like the most professional place, my boyfriend wanted to leave but I knew we needed to get his checked and it had such great reviews online.Before the hearing test he mentioned that he had a ear completely blocked by wax, he didnt remove it or have him come back so the test would have total accuracy, he just proceeded with the test. (The other hearing aid place we visited made sure to remove that so it did not impede the test results.) The test was fine and professional by all accounts.After the test a man named John told him he needed two hearing aids and someone would be in to discuss his options and left. It was definitely a shock to my boyfriend since he is only 32 and there wasnt much explanation. But another man came in, I think also name John (?) to talk to us about buying hearing aids. He simply says he needs two and such and such is the best and this is the price right now. NO demo, NO showing of the actual hearing aid. Just this is how much it is, wanna buy it?After lots of questions on my part and vague answers we decide to fill out an application for financing since they said we could cancel it in 3 days if we decided against it. When we were presented with a document that my boyfriend had to sign to say that they arent doctors (which is fine, I know they have special certifications for this) the man was VERY rude when my boyfriend was hesitant about signing the document (just because he had questions and honestly cant hear when someone is explaining something), he acted as though we were an inconvenience and just slowing him down. I wanted to leave right then. But my boyfriend felt pressured so he continued and signed.I will mention I was presented with one price and then on the contract it was 200 dollars more. I asked why that was and he said he couldnt get it any lower, but that is the price he told me he would do and that is what I thought I was agreeing to so that was irritating as well. I go by someones word. I will say I know they were giving us a good deal when it came to their pricing, but it was still much more expensive then the other places I went to.After we left I thought, well I dont know anything about hearing aids and how much they are so maybe I should try and get a different price elsewhere to make sure they arent taking advantage of us, especially considering how pushy the were. So I stepped back in and asked for a copy of his hearing test and they said no. They said he wouldnt get that back until he came to pick up his hearing aids. I had enough. I told them then they can give me the test or I will just cancel the contract right then. Then the owner came out with the second John we met and gave the test. I was so mad as to someone denying someones own results to them. That was the last red flag for me. I called some other places and met with another company who gave me a great price for two and were sooooo professional so I cancelled the contract with them same day.This is a lengthy review but I believe it is important for people to understand what they are getting into. We did learn a very valuable lesson from this but I am glad I went with my gut and did not do business with this establishment.
All of my experiences with Jon Richardson at the Best Value Hearing in West Jefferson, NC have been positive. I have had regular follow-up visits with Jon to have my hearing aids cleaned, to have Hearing checks and to get more batteries. (One of the things that makes dealing with BVH is that part of the deal includes a three-year supply.) Jon has always been very patient and professional in dealing with any questions or issues that I may have had. There have been few issues since my Audibel hearing aids have worked well. Being able to use my iPhone as a remote to control the volume and other settings is an option that I would recommend to anyone considering hearing instruments.T. D. Moore, West Jefferson, NC
