The JC Penney in Hickory is one of the few stores that still has great service . Staff are available and helpful .

Not the Penneys I remember as a kid. The mens department looked like a bargain bin with clothes all over the place. The manager should be ashamed for letting it look so beat down considering how expensive the clothes are...let alone the selection was depleted in some sections.

Minimal inventory; even less customer assistance. If my dad hadnt gotten me a gift card, I wouldnt go.Sad bc this was once the ONLY store I bought clothes, specifically jeans. 😢

Was very disappointed with JCP salon. Stylist did not seem like she knew what I was wanting. She came up with her idea (of Im only guessing) what she felt comfortable doing for a price that I could go elsewhere and get what I wanted. Needless to say I cancelled the appointment and left.

Experience is, I came in to buy a few hundred dollars worth of My Pillow products. To my surprise, there wasnt any . I found out that JC Penny cut Mikes products from the store because he stands for GOD and President TRUMP. Well, congradations JC Penny, you lost a sell and my business!! One unhappy customer turns in to 5,10,20,30,40,50 and so on . Should have stood for right instead of wrong .

So, your online policy states that you will price match competitors, period. We find jeans cheaper at Sears, SHOW the receipt as proof and the jeans with the tags .. and you wont honor the price match. Why?? Oh, because you need an ad to prove the price. Um, we have... the... receipt and the tags! Thats pretty good proof. You said, we cant keep your receipt, we can keep an ad. We said, you can make a copy of the receipt or keep the tags. You said, we need an ad. This was over a $5 adjustment....Well, we went to Kohls and found the jeans. They did the price adjustment and were very nice to us. Kohls lost $10 on the deal. You wont be getting another penny from me, JCPenney! Hope it was worth it over $5.... wow!!

We went one night and Linda was awesome. She helped us with everything we needed. We went back today and the cashier did not remove the security tags from our clothing, which was a huge inconvenience. So I will give 3 stars only because Linda made our night of shopping so much better.

Had to make a return. Took care of that then shopped. When i checked out to leave the lady at the register went out oh her way and shared a coupon with me. Super friendly so glad to see such kindness during this troubling time.

Hardley any merchandise or employees. I saw one cashier at one cash register. Pitiful.

Been shopping at this store since the one in Morganton closed down 20 yrs ago. I know we’re in the middle of a pandemic and there is a shortage of staff at warehouses and such, but they really need to restock the store. If they don’t restock, they’re going to lose business and wind up on the chopping block. I don’t want to see that happen cause our family uses the the salon here in addition to shopping.

JCPenney is decent, clothing is in great condition and nice, I usually buy my childrens clothes from here, but sometimes I think their sales are a joke. I think they inflate their prices and then mark it down to regular prices and call it a sale. I was also told by a cashier that they wont willingly tell you that you have a $10 rewards coupon, that you have to specifically ask if you have a coupon and to use it. Theres only a few sales associates that are friendly and willing to help, others act rude and too busy to be bothered. Shoe selections are also lacking and overpriced.

Great prices on all items around the store. And the associates were super friendly and helpful! The store was clean and aisles were clear. Pleasant shopping experience.

JCPENNEY still offers a good selection with good quality. My only complaint is that this store always seems to be understaffed which creates longer a longer wait time when checking out. The staff is usually helpful and friendly when they are available.

Love JC Penny, however several associates passed by without even speaking, my less ask if I needed any help. In which I could have used some. If you see a customer the least you should do is smile say hello and offer your assistance.

Went in looking for a watch on tues Aug 6 about 8pm. Found one I liked and then tried to check out. No one at front customer service. Waited around for jewelry counter person to get done with her customer who was going from case to case over and over. Walked around corner to ladies and got in line behind a lady who was starting to check out. The cashier said loudly and with a rude tone maam you can check out in the jewelry dept. I said she was with a customer for a long time and the cashier said well she is standing right there! I replied yes she is waiting on someone that has been there forever. I put my purchase down and walked out. I dont mind waiting my turn but I will not be treated like I am an inconvenience. Very rude

My wife ordered shorts when they came they were to small. Then the covid 19 pandemic happened and now jc penny is bankrupt. There isnt any way to get my money back 60 dollars wasted because i cant return the shorts. So im glad there bankrupt they were to expensive q

Today We Purchased Luggage and Saved A Bundle. The Chasier Lady Was Absolutely Fantastic. System Failed to Update Sale Prices, but Sales Lady came to the Rescue and Fixed Amount, Plus She Helped Us Save an Additional 20%. Codos to Her. Sorry We Didnt get Her Name. 🙋‍♂️

I went to the salon after murdering my hair with color zap. Chunks of it was coming off in my hands. The woman who helped me was so kind and understanding. She seemed to really feel my pain as we explored every option to try to save my long hair. She spent over three hours working on me and while in the end I was forced to accept a very short hair cut, I had no doubt that the stylist plus her coworkers had explored every option to help me. All that plus deep conditioning and demi colors to help put my head to right and I was still out less than 100 bucks. Amazing prices. Amazing service.

I was a customer at the salon on February 28, 2015. Went in for a cut and color and absolutely will be back! The stylist who worked with me was Kevin Jones and he was awesome. He listened to what I wanted and what I didnt want. Didnt try to pressure me into a style I wasnt comfortable with either. I will be back and he will be who I request when I schedule my appointment!

Love this store and love their salon. I had another salon butcher my hair.. I wont mention their name but lets just say their clips were not so great after all.. I went in and went straight back. Saw Brooke H. She did an awesome job with fixing the damage and was super friendly. I could not thank her enough! I will definatley be back! Five stars all the way!

I highly suggest retraining these employees with customer service & manners! By far the worse customer service I’ve ever encounter! Makes Walmart look like a gem.

Staff needs work and better training. Its like they were put on the registers and left to teach themselves. They arent always nice, but a majority of the time they are.

I was really disappointed by the conduct of one of the cosmetics employees tonight. In the past I have always been treated with the upmost respect while shopping at JC Penny. Tonight my boyfriend took me to get a complete line of cosmetics. I stood in line until it was my turn. I simply asked if the make up here was tested on animals. I am very much an animal lover so I try not to purchase anything that is tested on animals. The lady said what exactly are you looking for and I told her I wanted to purchase makeup. She said ok then proceeded to help the next customer in line. I turned and walked off. She came to me and said you didn’t give me time to respond. I figured since she was helping the next customer that she wasn’t going to help me. She ask me was I upset with her and I replied to her I thought that was very rude to have pushed me to the side. She did apologize and I do realize that this is a very stressful time of the year.

Worst shopping experience ever!! No help in watches for their black Friday sake.....stood at the counter 30 mins....ignored.....every register has a line backed over to the next department waiting to check out...shoes were a disaster...aisles so tight you could not look at them much less try on. Had planned to buy two watches but gave up. Never again. Poor planning on this stores management.

Love this store, more for the kitchen gadgets than anything else. Better quality merchandise than at big box stores, in most cases. A little pricier than Walmart and Target, but then again, you get what you pay for. Sometimes cheaper isnt always better.

This place is slowly puting its self out of business. I have truble finding help here. If you order by free shipping to the store. You may not get your package for two weeks. If you go to the store most of the items are not in stock. When listed a in stock on line. If youre order is same day pick up. By the time you get to the store 30 minutes away. The order will be cancelled. Now you can check the price in store with the app. Because the sales person is vnot available to help like when I first started shopping at this store 4 years ago. This has become a sadPlace in 4 years.

Very poor customer service today as I tried to make an even exchange. (The items were the same price). Clerk refunded the amount back to my card, rang up the exchanged item at a higher price. I politely told them to keep it because the original item was broken and I shouldnt have to pay more.

Wanted to make purchases, no one to check me out. Only lady at a register said Im not open. Walked all over the lower level. After 20min of not being able to find someone to check me out, put the items back and went to Belk. Sick that you have to give a star to make a comment. They dont deserve a star.
