I hadnt been here since I was a child, but decided to stop in yesterday. This is a truly amazing place, and makes you feel just like youre in an old country general store. I was told to come here and look for old fashioned candy. They definitely have it! Great place!

I love the Mast General store, and this one is just as good as all the rest I have been to. It is a perfect addition to downtown Hendersonville

Loved this place had a variety of things from nice clothes from hiking to work or just hanging out with friends an family an toys that most of us played with as a child brought back a lot of memories loved it!!

This place is pretty cool they got a lot of nice clothes a lot of candy a lot of gag gifts a lot of like tourist type items its a pretty cool place though its not bad I dont think youd regretted if you went there.

I have not purchased anything since 2016. They have awesome customer service. If they do not have the item you are looking for they go above and beyond to call the store in Asheville, NC. They accommodate their customers.God bless you,Becky Smith

I love the mast general store in Hendersonville! There is something for everyone! Theres only one problem for me: Its such a fun and very laid back store with that old fashioned nostalgic look, that I NEVER can just run in, buy one thing, and get out quickly! 😊

Cute general store with a large variety of attractive merchandise. Particularly fond of the unique selection of quality brands of casual clothing and accessories. Loved the selection of vintage candies and treats that reminded me if my childhood.

There is a sign outside of the entrance says ‘Be kind’, however when we entered the store the associates did not greet us or even give us a smile. They continued their personal conversation about tacos and guacamole. The store was empty and we encountered other associates throughout the store who also didn’t acknowledge us. We left without purchasing anything for this reason. Good customer service is key, folks.

There is a little bit of everything in the store. Always pleased to find penny candies from a half a century ago and also plastic airplane model kits. Upstairs, they have a very extensive selection of camping equipment and camping and hiking clothing. Expert help as always Close at hand. Parking is difficult at best.

Old times feel with everything you could ever want or need. From hard candy to flannel shirts. You can usually find some kind of sale going. I will say they are pricey on clothing. The staff is super friendly and helpful too. A nice downtown Hendersonville experience.

Mast General Store on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville is a twice-yearly favorite when visiting the area. A nostalgic shopping adventure in a circa 1905 building, I stop in when dropping off/picking up my kids at summer camp I nearby Flat Rock.Old-timey merchandise, outdoor and travel apparel and gear, traditional clothing and footwear, along with so much more. Decent prices and many favorites you cannot find elsewhere, I usually drop in for the old-fashioned candy.With that said, I was a bit disappointed on my most recent visit. Walking through an almost empty store, not a single staff member greeted me or inquired whether I needed assistance. And I walked by several of them in search of something to purchase. Continuing my stroll, I picked out a few specialty coffee mugs, a shirt and two bags of candy. I made my way to the check-out counter after about 20 minutes.At the check out counter, I was greeted by a polite female clerk who put her smartphone down to complete my transaction. Upon weighing my candy and given the price, I jokingly said, “that’s some heavy candy – what’s the weight?” The response was “one pound, 36 ounces.” Looking at the scale myself, it read 1.36 pounds.Not necessarily a bad experience this time around, just an average experience.William E. Nice old fashion retail

This is a great store that you must visit while in downtown Hendersonville. Great clothing selections along with leather goods, cool kitchen wares, knick nacks, candy, candles, and outdoor stuff. A must visit!

The store has a nostalgic feel and lots up to date stuff and lot of old fun stuff. Souvenirs, lotions, soaps, nic knacky homegoods and gadgets, old fashion Penny Candy selection, candy from the ole days, joke stuff, and lots of fun books and games for the kiddos. Great clothing and footwear assortment for men and women who are outdoorsy, it reminds me of home in Maine, mini LL Bean.

Stopped in looking for stocking stuffers. Pretty well picked over inventory. The original store near Boone is worth a visit.

Im sitting at my dining room table eating the 2nd of 3 bags of popcorn I got at Mast General in Hendersonville. So heres how it happened. I was visiting friends and asked if we could please stop at the store to get popcorn on the way to Greenville/Spartanburg airport for my flight home. I also wanted to get some of the vintage candy cause the place is like a step back in time. We masked up, walked in and NO POPCORN. Its a first world problem so I just went about picking my vintage sweets. I saw a lady who worked there and asked if there was popcorn and she said they didnt make any and I replied man what a shame cause that was one of the main reasons I came in The lady then replied well if you dont mind waiting a few minutes Ill make some for you SCORE!!! I searched for my special candies and hovered over the machine to make sure I got a hot bag when it was done. Once it finished a second lady came up and started to bag it up. I told her Id take 3 bags, 1 for now and 2 for the trip home. As she bagged them we chatted and I told her how excited I was to get the popcorn and that it was a main reason for me coming. Once she bagged them all she handed them too me and said Merry Christmas, Id like you to have them free of charge and enjoy your trip home SCORE again for the store and customer service. I didnt feel the least bit odd about spending $130 on impulse buying of candy and vintage items. All the ladies were so nice as I was shopping and for me customer service means I will always spend more money. Mast of Hendersonville will always be a stop on my trip to visit friends in NC. I know there is one in Greenville for when I visit friends there, but my loyalty will be to the Hendersonville store so thats where Ill do my shopping with this company.

Mast is always a stop for us when we visit Hendersonville. They have a great selection of basically everything. Drop in and see for yourself.

This is a keystone business of downtown Hendersonville. Every time I make a trip into downtown, I make sure to stop into Mast General. The shoe store on the second floor has great choices. Its a great place if youre shopping for a gift. Theyve got everything from kitchen utensils, to candy, candles, stuffed animals, and more. I always have a good time perusing the goods here.

This is the sexond one i have been to, cute store that has an old time feel. They have a small selection of camping gear and fairly decent selection of clothing for the adults and a huge candy selection for the those with a sweet tooth. The peoole that work here are super nice and always willing to help
