I recently bought new granite countertops from American Countertops and Floors. The entire experience, from initial inquire to final installation was great. There were committed to ensuring we got the best quality and service at the best price. Judy and Miguel were awesome to work with.
This place is beyond the lowest of low quality. No standards. Rude owner! Hires illegals. Her name is Judy and she’s CRAZY! She knows NOTHING ABOUT RUNNING A BUSINESS. Her installers are lazy. Don’t correct chips or repair any mistakes. I wouldn’t pay these people 10 cents a sqft. Granite Transformations is the place you want to go! Great American owners. No illegals showing up to your home. They wear uniforms and they are all certified. Last but not least American Countertops and Flooring would FAIL OSHA STANDARDS 10/10 times. Just disgusted with these people. Especially JUDY!
My overall experience with American counter tops and floors was a good one. Got no complaints. To give you an idea of what was done in our 15 year old one level house goes like this: ALL the existing 5X5 white tiled kitchen counter tops ( upper & lower tears with a center island) and master bathroom dual sink vanity top was removed. Also removed was the washer/dryer utility room (deep slop sink) vanity/counter top. Measurements were taken and in three or so days later were all installed. The installation took 2 1/2 days. All the old top mount sinks were replaced with all under mount sinks. They did the under mount sink installation. They do not do the faucet/plumbing installation or removal if you plan on reusing your existing plumbing hardware. What is required by the homeowner is that YOU will have to, not mandatory but I advise that you do, empty all of the stuff thats in the cabinets/vanities thats below the work line. The fabricators/installers always arrived on time. They worked as neatly as can be expected when your removing concrete counter tops. The demolition was only one day and through there efforts the dust was very minimal. The only downside to all of this is that you will loose your kitchen sink for a couple of days. What ever inconvenience we went through was so worth it. All the counter/vanity now have granite with full back splashes and it looks great. The workmanship is spot on. They sealed ALL the granite after completion. Like I stated in the beginning, Got no complaints. This best part of this is that wifee is very happy and when shes happy, well, you know the rest. If you go with American Counter Tops and Floors I hope your experience is as good as mine was. A+
AVOID THIS COMPANY! THE OWNER IS A SHADY, LIEING CROOK WHO WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF!I hired American Countertops and Floors to retile and rebuild my mud pans in my showers. When I had Judy Thaxton, the owner, do the bid, she REQUIRED me to pull all the permits and do all the County inspections. She first tried to tell me permits werent even required and made several whining comments to the effect I was the only person she dealt with before that inquired about permits and the County only wants the permit so they can get their money. Thats very odd since at first she didnt even think she needed permits....Anyway, after the demo I had plumbers come in and redo the piping and floordrains. Some weeks later, her crew came over to install the tile backer for the shower walls and waterproof them though I used the term waterproof VERY CAUTIOUSLY because her crew did it so half-assed and sloppy its by no means waterproofed in the strict sense of the word. First and foremost, I told her IN WRITING I wanted cement board and instead she comes clandestinely in and uses Densshiled which is an inferior product. She doesnt even seal the butt joints of the Densshield and simply puts felt paper over the seams and slaps on water proofing membrane to seal them. VERY SLOPPY AND LAZY! At the very least she could have used joint compound. On top of that, the gaps between the bathroom drywall are so large, when her crew sealed those joints they simply gooped a ridiculous amount of water proofing membrane that cannot even hold itself up. To this day it has many walnut sized drops that dried and hardened and you can literally stick your finger in the seperation holes where the weight was too much. Then, her crew installs a paper thin shower liner THAT DOES NOT EVEN MEET CODE! The proper way to build a mud shower pan is to make a pitched sub pan and install the drain base on top of that. She doesnt. She simply rolls out this cheap shower liner over the flat shower floor and calls it a day. Needless to say, this calamity doesnt pass inspection. Upon informing her of the failed inspection, she states to me she intends to square up and she is leaving the project and just keeping the money for what she is owed. This woman is actually so diluted as to think she can keep 50% of the money for a job were about 15% of the work has been done, THAT FAILED INSPECTION, and then thinks on top of that she can just walk away because she doesnt want to do it anymore....Needless to say she is just as stupid as she is sloppy. I have a Contractor Board complaint against her and they issued her a Notice to Correct so I know I won the battle. Needless to say STAY AWAY from Judy Thaxton and American Countertops and Floors. I looked her up and she has reincorporated and closed/reopned her numerous contractor licenses many times over the past few years. By itself not a crime, but a common habbit among shady business people. Dissolve a corporation and who can come after them after the fact? Numerous civil judgements against her in the Nevada court docket, allegations of construction fraud on internet searches, allegations of illegal business and employment practices from former associates, etc. are all things you will find when you google this company and woman. STAY AWAY!
