I primarily shop at Winco because their shelves are fully stocked and their meat market has lots of variety, despite this being the second year of COVID-19 restrictions. Their prices are highly competitive, especially in the bulk foods aisle. The store is clean and well-staffed. The benefits, for me, include that customers bag their own groceries, because I care more about the condition of the food when I unpack it than the average bagger does.

What major grocery store does not accept credit cards? Perhaps it saves a few cents each trip, but is it really worth the savings? I wonder about people suffering financially during the pandemic and are surviving by using credit cards. There are other options in Helena.

Great prices, helpful staff, very clean and good produce selection

The benefits of buying honey produced by local bees is commonly understood. The flight range of a bee has been documented up to 13.5 km, or just over 8 miles. The local honey sold at this location is Prairie Sunshine honey, advertising to be produced by the bees of Montana.; the sticker on the bottom of the bottle reveals that this honey is from Priest River, ID. This means the local honey carried at this location is from a city over 300 miles away in a town that is closer to WA than MT and not within the bee flight range of either state.

I was amazed at how low Wincos prices are. I got alot of bang for my buck. The employees were very helpful and nice. Thank you, Bill for picking us a perfect watermelon 🍉. I would recommend Winco for lowest prices.

Drive up from Butte monthly to do our grocery shopping. They have the best prices, courteous and helpful employees, great selection, amazing bulk section and its clean!

Parking was not the best, but parking has been bad at all the WinCos Ive ever been to. The produce I purchased was fresh. They also carry Shasta soda incase you wondered who carries it here in MT. It is Thanksgiving week and they had everything you need for a great feast. They were all working hard stocking the shelves at 2pm. Most of the stores in GF were out of everything, so we made the trip to Helena.

Love shopping at this Winco. Staff is always nice and helpful. They had a mask mandate sign but dont enforce it, which I love. Beats that communist owned Costco across the street.

Along with great prices that routinely beat the other stores in town, the customer service is typically great. I appreciate how whenever I need assistance I can always quickly find an employee to talk to. All to often at big stores it’s impossible to track down help, not at all the case here. The only thing I would change about this store is the meat department. While the employees are kind and helpful in that area, there does not appear to be a butcher cutting fresh meat.

Had everything we wanted and great price great customer service too

Love shopping here but there is one cashier who was working the self check tonight she is down right rude she basically told me husband very rudely to get out of her way when we needed help at the self check out and she kept giving us dirty looks and she wouldn’t turn her name tag around so anyone could see her name. I’m sorry but that is not how you treat a customer she was also being very rude towards other customers

When I called to see if my special order cake was ready for pick up, the order was not located. The amazing baking staff- who was already gone for the night- was going to come in to make sure my cake was ready for pick up. It ends up being I called the wrong location 🤦‍♀️. I can not say enough good things about the staff, they were friendly and were going to do anything they could to make sure I have my cake in time!

I love shopping here. They have never enforced wearing masks which is more then I can say about any other store. We live in United States and they’re the only big grocery store that actually lives up to it.

To the large new lady in the self checkout. Most rude human I have seen in my 36 years. Ill go to super 1 next time. Im pretty understanding but hollering 6 ft when asking for my ID is uncalled for.

I loved this store even though their self checkout people are controlling about how much you can check out when all their lines are full and they allow others to not only cut in the self checkout line but they also favor who is limited to specific number of items and who isnt.....TODAY I spent just under $350 to get home and find out 1/2 the 5# bag of red potatoes are rotten. When I tried to call (2x) bc I live all the way out in Birdseye, no answer. Recording says the number is disconnected or changed w no other number available. You can do better, Winco & I will take my business elsewhere if the poor quality continuesGross!

I enjoy this store. The cashiers are good and the people are nice. If they accepted credit cards it would be a lot nicer but that is a personal preference. They say they dont so they can keep costs lower. I just noticed one of my dairy products went up over a dollar per quart since a month ago when I bought it. This is clearly not their fault although it is their brand name. They are a good store with a large selection of bulk items which I personally do not use. If a person did Im sure its a great asset. They do have several in store prices that are good but I just think this store is average like the rest of them.

Bulk items section is awesome. Vegetables and fruits were fresh and kept in a very organized manner. Best prices in town too.

Really cheap, really friendly employees. Wide aisles for when its busy. Huge selection. A huge section of fill your own bag of coffee, rice, beans, spices, nuts, and candy. Weekdays never to crowded. I absolutely love this store. I would recommend to everyone.

Clean store, friendly staff, decent (not great) selection, good prices, but not everything is cheaper than other stores. I didnt like that they dont take credit cards and you dont find out until youre checking out. I also would prefer they had someone there to help bag your groceries so you could be in and out more quickly. Unfortunately for me driving from out of town, it wasnt worth my time and I wont stop again.

I made a trip to Winco on the evening of November 26, 2019.Because of their free turkey with a $50 purchase, I was keeping track of how much I was spending. When I went through the check stand, the amount rang up exceeded my mental calculation. This has happened before at several local stores so when I got home I went through and checked my items as compared to the receipt. This was the first time that the price was spot on. The receipt says the cashiers name is Tammie K.. She did a good job and will be part of the reason I will be a loyal customer.

Nothing phenomenal about this store. About average prices. I mix my shopping up some by shopping Walmart one time, winco another time, super 1 etc. Wincos web site is a big joke though. Not much effort put into it

So delighted Winco is here! Employee-owned makes for happy, helpful employees. The prices cant be beat (not even by Wally) and I actually like to bag my own groceries. Small effort for saving about 30% on my food bill.

Deli was not helpful and I feel as if they were not paying attention simply because I look young. I am 20 years old and was trying to order food. It took me over 30 minutes to get a 24 piece chicken, 1lb of jojos, and some salad.Ended up having to call and complain. The store manager corrected the issue and was very helpful.

WinCo has the best prices and great product. Very clean and organized store! This is the best place for grocery shopping.

I have mixed feelings about this grocery store.The bulk foods that I tried had an off taste, compared to bulk sized foods at Costco. Plus...what a hassle to deal with. The selection of groceries in general leaves something to be desired - not as good as Walmart or even the Albertsons by Target in most regards.I also would rather not bag my own groceries. I work hard. Pay a teenager to do this. It builds employment history and provides low-skill jobs to the community. Because of this, I never buy a lot of stuff here, just what I feel willing to bag, and get the rest of my groceries at more customer-oriented stores.That said, I appreciate their hours, they are located close to where I live, and the prices are no better/no worse than anywhere else.

Thought this store would be the answer in Helena, wow i was wrong. Lets start with entering the store, parking lot spaces up front are all occupied by store employees, i know this because you walk through their cigarette smoke while they sit on their cars in uniform to enter( disgusting). Their meat they carry is worse than i could buy in a 3rd world country, straight garbage. Ever look at their special tubed ground beef on sale? 27% ground beef, whats the rest consist of?. Better yet, they have a cow bell you must shake in the morning to get someone to check you out, while 30 employees sit outside smoking, or are in isles stocking shelves with earbuds in. We live in Montana, best meat in US, but no store in the state capital sells it, go figure.

Their prices aren’t as great as everyone says, you need to compare sizes to get an accurate price comparison. I’ve noticed they sell smaller sizes so of course the pricing is gonna be less. It’s annoying that they don’t take credit cards and I’m lost as to why they have checkers but you have to bag your own groceries. I’ll stick with super 1 for customer service and selection.

Best grocery store ever. We seriously cut our grocery bill almost in half when shopping at Winco, without sacrificing quality! You have to check out this store!

Great new grocery option, went shopping their today and the store had great bargain prices, nice selection and friendly staff. Much cleaner store than Albertsons or Walmart. I definitely checking out this store.

My new theme park. Not only do they have EVERYTHING... the prices of everything are lower. To top that off the employees are always around to lend a helping hand. Doesnt get any better than this folks!!!

Pricing is fare. Customer service isnt the greatest. Called to get a price. One employee answered cut me off in explanation then transferred me. The other I explained what I was looking for said hes quite away from that item and would have to walk. As if he didnt want to actually do anything. He finally did and Im thankful but its not good customer service from either party.

I enjoy shopping here, I really do, but its very disgusting and unsanitary to see dozens and dozens of bugs crawling around in the pastry bins. Ive told some of the employees before about this issue and have had my concerns shrugged off and seen as non-important

Good produce clean and a large store to meet my needs

There were two disabled people who where struggling with bagging. No winco employee made a move to help them. They just sat there impatiently watching as the two people struggled

The store is new, so it had to be clean. The store was stocked, and full of so much variety of shelved items, and bulk containers to sell by the pound. New courteous staff. Seems to have a decent model for employee ownership in the store, thereby making them all stock-holders. I love the total store, however, I am also a consumer for the average person. I will advocate for people who dont know to advocate for themselves, or are too busy to know these thing.GMO.Mostly the store has Great selections, but also has many stocked GMO products. Unsuspecting customers are likely not fully aware of the dangers of GMO foods. Some merchandise do not even have that public label on the outside. I know, that is not WinCos fault. What are GMOs? Genetically modified organisms. Some have real benefits, while others do not. Most do not. GMO are commodities that are modified to be more productive when grown. The company that produces the GMO seeds is the same company that manufacturers the ROUNDUP weed killer poisons, and the same that made AGENT ORANGE, that is still harming our Veterans from Vietnam. Do some research about this new horticulture event most are simply unaware of. Dont take MY word for it.I bought apples from this new Helena store and the seeds, I usually propagate to grow into real plants for my orchard. Well, the apples I bought were not organic, and the seeds are deflated and useless, all because of the GMO process. I am not fully aware as to why, or how this happens. I dont care if reasonable pesticides are used. Thats not my complaint here. I am no tree hugger, thats for sure. Studies have shown that GMO are cost effective, less loss in growing, etc... but the process usually take away some of the nutrients from true organic foods.WINCO, please GO GMO FREE. Be that store that will protect its customers. Please WinCo, do not submit to the GMO foods...especially here in Helena, MT. We deserve better, even if it costs us more.
