If you have a Subaru of any type Mike and the crew at GST are probably one of your safest bets in the bay area and most definitely in the east bay. They do it all and have you feeling confident in their work knowing it was done right. The moment you walk into the office you can tell these folks know Subarus. Yes, admittedly getting in contact w/them for the first time can be a little bit of a wait maybe a couple days max but once you go in 1 time and establish a relationship its easier to communicate with them. Its not a big team so Im sure they do the best they can considering how busy they are how well they are spoken about on car forums. I had my post purchase inspection done here on my 06 STI, then had the leak in my rear mail seal fixed here because I was leaking oil and Mike fixed my front axle for free since he was down there anyways and the CV boot was all torn up. So they quoted me less labor time for the initial leak and replaced my front axle for free just the cost of the parts which I looked up and was being sold online for the exact same price GST put in my invoice. Like I said originally... GST is your best bet on getting your Subaru work done the right way, by people who know these cars inside and out. I surely will not be going anywhere else with my car but I also only live about 10 mins away 😁

I have been taking my car to GST for any repairs that my car needs for the past few years. Donna and Mike are very welcoming. Mike is a very good mechanic but unreliable.There was an issue with my oil pickup and upon replacing the parts mike advices me that my engine would blow-up pretty soon, therefore I asked for a quote for the rebuild, estimated time etc. Donna send me the list of the rebuild, and we have been in touch. Once my engine broke down I tried to arrange a time with them to rebuild the engine and bought all the parts. Called, left a voice mail, emailed them multiple times, they have never got back to me. I would have appreciated if they didn’t keep me waiting for a few month.Note I used to drive 1:30 hours to them even though I am very tight on time thinking I’ll build a good relationship with knowledgeable mechanic. But oh well! Very disappointed.

Mike and Dionne have provided great service and good quality work. They answer any questions Ive had with detailed responses and have walked me through the modification process of my car. Im very happy with how my car performs now. Highly recommended!

Was looking for a Dyno rental which is advertised on their website. Called them up and they replied we dont do that.Dont advertise services youre not willing to offer.

Work that Mike did on my WRX (with great attention to detail and thoroughness): adjusted my coilovers, installed/uninstalled a bunch of parts, and dyno tuned. Sorry mike its been a while since you touched my car but heres is my review. I went to mike back in I think 2016 or 17 to tune my car. He recommended and informed me of the parts I would need for my tune and even went above and beyond made sure to keep in contact with me while I ordered and waited on the parts. He installed everything I ordered and tuned my car on stock internals to its limit. He did recommend before hand we upgrade the sensors so that it could run a higher boost level as well as he made sure I had all the right parts for what I wanted to do. Here we are two years later and the cars still running strong at 400whp plus on e85 no issues this far. I would recommend going to his shop and getting to know him hes a huge help.

Mike and Dionne make an awesome team. Originally went in for recommendations, Donne was kind enough to point me in the right direction starting with injectors and converting to E85 for my stock setup. 3 weeks later I went in for my tune, I just chilled in the waiting room while Mike did his tuning magic on my car. Car felt completely new, with no hiccups on the tune. Mike and Dionne are friendly and know their stuff. Will definitely come again after build.

Mike and Zack are an awesome team. Had some work done on a Subaru Sti 2019. Mike is a Subaru specialist on steroids. His diagnostic s skills are phenomenal. While waiting in the lobby I came across a customer with turbo hose issues, Mike came within 10 mins and replaced it and did not charge a dime. GST Motorsports is one stop shop for all Subaru platforms. I appreciate you work Mike and Zack and thanks again.

I like this shop a lot, Mike is the man, I highly recommend his place for any work on Subaru cars. Hes an expert on Subarus, you can tell by talking to him - so he knows what hes doing, is honest and stands by his work...What more could you ask for? Ive had them install some aftermarket parts, but Id also recommend them for standard maintenance and repairs.

I went to GST to have my timing belt and associated parts replaced. I chose this place because I had read many good reviews about the owners work online. I contacted them to find a nice reply and a great price, so I made an appointment. However, based on my experience, I will not return nor would I recommend the shop to others. I was greeted with a very unwelcoming and cold shoulder from the Owner (Mike). He may have mumbled altogether a total of 13 words to me for the entire 5 hours I was there. There was also not a single other soul in the place the entire day. He never looked me in the eye, and would cower when spoken to. Without knowing better, I would go as far as to guess he may have some sort of social disorder. I even confronted him on how he made for a very unwelcoming and awkward atmosphere and I would like to have had a bit more discussion with him about my car and the service he was providing, only to have a response of we dont do that...He also neglected to show me the parts that he removed from the car. I was hoping to forge a good relationship with a good specialist mechanic that I could trust with the future of my cars maintenance and upgrades, as this is a new car to me. I even came from a very long way away.Mike- youve lost out on quite a lot of work from me and people I could have recommended you to, just because you could not say hello to me and talk about the work that was being done to my car. Im sure you may be a good mechanic, but you have zero customer service! And that directly correlates to a lack of trust. Good Luck, I hope you can rectify this short coming for your future customers...

Best Subaru mechanic in the Bay Area!

I recently bought a used 2011 WRX that is modified from a used car dealer and have no experience and knowledge on Subarus. As I looked up the visual parts on the car online I found through the Cobb website that GST Motorsport is a well recommended and have proven successful work in the Subaru community. So I made a appointment on November 23 and his wife did well following up to confirm the appointment as well to have the car protune and I am very pleased on the results and how the car is running.Mike is informative and answered all my questions meticulously and gave me recommendations based on what he saw. I will definitely be going to Mike moving forward knowing my car is in good hands.

Google wants me to review this place, but Ive not been there. Looks pretty cool though, so five stars.

I have 2 subys, an 04 WRX and 13 STi; Mike has worked on both vehicles and I trust him with my life. My 04 needed a clutch replacement and struts (didnt know about the struts until Mike told me), but he took the time to test each strut and tell me exactly how much life was left at each point. He is not just trying to take your money. He really just wants to see you drive that daily or race that track and not just take your money.My 13 is a corn suckin monster and is well over 400 to the wheels. Going for 9s soon, and Mike is the only one I trust to get me there. He has helped me in every stage to this point and she runs great after thousands of miles.And just fyi, Mike and the entire GST team has been beyond nice to me and gone out of their way to make me feel at home when Im there. If youve ever worked with a tuner/true performance shop, youll know the snobs that are out there. Mike and his team are not that.

I moved out from denver and needed to get my car retuned. I’m picky about who tunes my car because of the amount of money I have into it. I heard good things about mike and GST so I decided to go there. Apparently mike didn’t want to tune my car because he didn’t do my motor build, but his assistant went ahead and scheduled me in. When I showed up, mike knew nothing about the appointment. Then proceeded to tell me he wouldn’t tune my car past 24psi simply because of a sensor. Even though I had been running 31 psi the last 6 months just fine. Long story short I drove an hour and a half one way with my own gas to not get my car tuned. So I ordered the part he wanted me to have, I scheduled a new time, and at the end of the day before the tune was supposed to happen something magically went wrong with their dyno. They told me I could go to someone else if I wanted it done sooner, but didn’t bother to call me sooner In the day so I’d have time to make different arrangements. Mike may be a great guy but I wouldn’t recommend going to this lackluster shop.

I have a Subaru WRX, been working in this car for a long time. I was taking my car to EQ Tuning and after years of bad work from Ed I had to find a new shop or sell the car. I have been seriously taken advantage of from EQ, so my trust was very low. But I love my car and I wanted to try one more time. I looked around and found this shop, GST, looked on the Subie forums and only found good things about Mike and his shop.I made a appointment for a engine rebuild and tune, he gave me a estimate and time line. I was doughtfull, let tell you. But he was true to his word and completed on the date he said he would, three weeks, done back in my hands. Wow, just like he said. I did the break in just like he had said, and they made a appointment for the tune. I showed up on time, he tuned my car and its fantastic.Its Mike and his wife running the shop, great people, if you need special Subie work done this is the place, it really is. Him and his wife do what they tell you they are going to do, thats all just good honest work.

Its taken me a while to post this review here on Google, but its well worth spreading the word.Im an original owner of a GD STi (hawkeye). Ive been bringing my car here regularly ever since ~2008 when I was first made aware of it.They can do everything from tuning (Mike is Accessport tuning master for Subarus), parts swap, maintenance, and custom work as well. I can say so, because hes done all of these things on my car since!GST Motorsports has been my go-to place for all things Subaru for these years because of fair pricing, GREAT work, honest advice, and that one-on-one connection with me. He takes the time to answer my questions, and give me guidance on what is needed and what I can avoid spending money on (e.g. he doesnt just recommend things to be installed to get a job in the door).Best of all, hes got that accent that makes me warm and fuzzy inside.(J/k Mike...right???!)

Folks are real helpful and accommodate your goals. Like the shop and staff here. Plus they do a nice job installing parts. If you have a Subaru, this is the place to visit. Just check out their race car and the records they hold. Serious Subi guys (and gals) here. Evo stuff? I dont think they are as fabulous on the DSM stuff, but just MHO.Id recommend them. Good shop. Nice folks. Great track lineage with trophies and awards to show for it.
