I enjoyed my shrimp poboy, though it could have used some more shrimp, the other parts of it were perfect. I really enjoyed the complimentary sweet corn bread, and the fun spreads that came with it. My friend loved her tomato soup with pimento grilled cheese with tomato jam. If I had to tell someone about this place I would call it an updated and unique twist on cracker barrel.
We decided to eat here because of the good ratings and we wanted to try something that we couldn’t normally get at home. I wish I would have just stuck with something I was familiar with. Yes, the restaurant is super cute, nicely decorated and the staff are great. But that doesn’t make up for the food. When we first arrived, we were given complimentary pickles and beet chips. It was a nice touch and they were okay. We ordered the Louisiana char-grilled oysters. I’m sorry, but there was nothing char-grilled about those oysters…maybe they were baked?!? There was a weird tasting sauce on them and they weren’t good. I had the chicken tacos with crab grits. The grits were borderline dry and I didn’t taste anything remotely similar to crab in them. The chicken tacos were basic. They had what tasted like store bought coleslaw on them. The chicken didn’t have a taste, so the only thing on them with good flavor was the fried jalapenos. Also, presentation is everything. There was coleslaw juice running out of the tacos and all on my plate. It’s the little things that can make a big difference. The other guest had the vegetable plate. It looked great BUT most of the vegetables were extremely spicy. To me, there’s a difference between spicy and flavorful, and the vegetables lacked flavor. I was underwhelmed by the entire food experience, so will not be back.
Went here to celebrate and had an overall disappointing experience and would not return. Let me explain why. First, on Thursday night the place was slammed, in the summer. There was a 20 min wait for a table for 2. We waited at the bar. I asked the bartender which drink they would recommend based on two (lemon basil martini and strawberry jalapeño margarita) and was told “the margaritas are really hit and miss”. This should have been a sign. We did try both drinks. The margarita was better. The martini could not hold a candle to Patio 44’s. We also got the fried cheese curds. They were mini mozzarella bites. Not impressed. The tomato jam that accompanied them was sweet. As we settled up, we overheard the bartender tell another customer drinks were half price for women and we were fully charged. The bill was resolved, but only asking two staff for clarification and assistance. At the table, the waitress was overbooked. We were repeatedly told that bread was coming, but didn’t come until our entrees did and only after we confirmed we wanted it. My friend got the fried green tomato burger, which comes with meat if you were unsure. Do not assume it’s vegetarian. The plate was full on beige. The fries were breaded and ho hum. The “burger” was decent. I got the blackened redfish with green beans and Mac and cheese. The fish was over cooked and dry. The beans were overcooked and too heavily salted. The mac and cheese was decent.Overall, would not recommend. Save yo’ money.
Absolutely loved this little gem. A very relaxed atmosphere with high end food. I take my grandson everywhere and always order kids meals for him. The chicken strips and fries was the best kids meal Ive ever found for him. It server, Zack, was just the nicest young man. But everyone helped us if he wasnt around. Great job Cotton Blues! Well be back with our friends and family.
Great food! The green tomatoes with the pork belly and tomato jam is extremely special! The blackened redfish tacos are very good as well. Portions are large but they do offer half portions for several items. Pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw is also amazing excellent family oriented casual dining
I had not eaten anything but airplane snacks and I was starving, I googled restaurants in Harrisburg and stumbled upon Cotton Blues. What a wonderful treat! By myself I sat at the bar and ordered off the menu. I had the blackened catfish and shrimp with praline sauce, smashed sweet potatoes and collards. AMAZING! I dont even like greens but I ate these greens they were cooked perfectly. The catfish was delicious, so light and moist. The sweet potatoes were phenomenal! I loved every bite! The staff was friendly and fast. It was only minutes before I received my meal after ordering, I was surprised how fast it was.
I was here for a private event (rehearsal dinner) so I dont know what they are normally like but, definitely use this place for an event! The service was great, food was delicious, and drinks were great too! I have a feeling there was a limited selection for dinner since we were a private party and it was already all paid for by the grooms parents but, it was such a good variety of steak, chicken, or pasta! The whole place is cute and quaint!
It was OK but just ok so I just really can’t go more than a three star. My waitress did a good job and the restaurant was clean and nice until I got to the men’s room. I found the stalls to be too tight and looked dated, but they tried to cover it up with paint. New paint is OK, but a clean and nice bathroom is important to me. I ordered a hamburger patty with no bun medium well. I could not eat all of it due to being under cooked. Wanted a baked potato and they did not have that. Too many places to eat in Hattiesburg I would not go back. I’m sure some others will find things to be fine but it just did not do it for me. I also was placed at a table going to the kitchen. There were always a handful of servers standing 12 feet from us. It felt strange to all of us at our table, like we were being watched. I just did not like it.
Cotton Blues is a unique southern restaurant with a nice variety menu. Make sure you ask about the Blue Plate Special. I knew about it and got a great grown up grilled cheese with sliced ribeye and a delicious jam with a choice of sides. My husband had a shrimp po boy with a side of fried onion rings. The onion rings were great. The waiter served an app of beer chips and bread and butter pickles. He was helpful in offering food suggestions. Finally he was attentive throughout the meal.I would go back again.
Seared Tuna Tacos! Blackened Fish Tacos! Strawberry Ice Box Pie! YES! Different concept for a restaurant. Great food and service. One pot meals are excellent. Love the Bluberry Sausage. Check out the specialty food pantry. A lot going on here.
Oh my amazing taste in my mouth! This place is amazing! It was recommended by a friend to go and I dont think I will go anywhere else when anywhere close to Hattiesburg. Everything at this place is made fresh and the flavors pop!!!I got a burger and it might have been one of the best burgers of my like (Fried Egg Burger). The fries were great. The onion rings amazing. We had two appetizers of cheese curds and grilled chicken nachos and I wish I had a second stomach. I cant wait for my next trip to this part of the state cuz YUM!
The people were very nice and attentive. We had a good meal. If we werent travelers we might come here again. The patio is dog-friendly which works really well for us.
Ordered the plain cheesecake online to be delivered for my daughter’s birthday. Arrived the day request and kept it chilled till we served it. Absolutely one of the best if not the best we’ve ever had. Will be ordering again. Thank you ....
I found out Cotton Blue was serving breakfast, so I gave them a call ordered the bacon egg cheese Croissant “homemade “ it was delicious . And the side of fruit was fresh and delicious. They also other delicious breakfast items. Look forward to coming back highly recommend. Manager was very helpful as well. 👍👍👍👍
The daily special is good, not great. Good price. They have a fantastic bisket. Service is very good. Plenty of social distancing.
Love the concept and changes. Self serve beverages, sandwiches, salads, sides and desserts. Pot meals daily, freezer section for dinner items. This is the future due to whats happened. Plus, menu items and bar. Cant go wrong. Tell Thomas I sent you.
They have an enormous amount of gluten free dishes compared to any other restaurant Ive ever been to. I had the gluten free shrimp tacos and lobster grits. They were absolutely amazing! I have celiac and have to eat gf, I would recommend this place to anyone with gluten intolerance or celiac. My husband ate the catfish and he said it was good also. Well definitely go back and bring our kids next time. Thanks for a great meal!
I dont like cheesecake at all because I dont like cream cheese - but my husband loves it.When I say this is hands down the best cheesecake I have ever eaten, it means something. And my husband absolutely loves it. There is no, get one slice, we get the whole pie. And the crust is out of this world. Probably made up of 100% sugar, but sooooo good.
Was looking for a good dinner in Hattiesburg, MS and found it. Great food, served extremely fast by a polite staff. Must eat location.
We ate here just the other night. Our server was sweet and answered all our questions graciously, but needs a little more training on the appropriate sequence in which to take orders (elder ladies first, younger ladies, then men in the same pattern). The menu is an eclectic mix of what is known as Southern food but the chef needs to lighten up on the spices. I’m married to a Cajun, so I know when food is savory versus just too spicy. When one orders something like Lima beans, green beans, or candied carrots one expects good, Southern comfort food not a dish of over spiced veggies that is so harsh it overshadows the flavor of the vegetables! Both my son & hubby had the green beans and tasted my food and they agreed with me.In addition, my husband ordered the ribs and fried chicken and my son had the quail. All of these were very dry.So aside from the company, we did not have a very good experience.
Over priced, very limited menu. I ordered the shrimp tacos 15.00 for 2 tacos that were barely warm and had only 2 small shrimp on each taco. Hamburger steak my husband got wasnt good either, it was more like they dipped the meat in some batter and fried it, was a soggy mess.
Loved this place. Out of business.
Only stopped by to have a drink. I really enjoyed the decor and setting. The morning Martini hit the spot too.
10/10 do not recommend, we thought it would be so good judging from the outside and the lovely atmosphere of the restaurant, however the food was not good. The staff was not very attentive or friendly, not what we expected at all. I will say the drink I had was wonderful and the sweet tea was great.
My wife and I stopped in for a drink and dessert. The service was prompt and friendly, drinks were great and the desserts were superb. The cheesecake, which we heard was the best in Mississippi, did not disappoint! We will definitely be back
We had the Thursday lunch special, country Fried Steak, and it was the best Ive ever tasted. Hattiesburg has a prize in this amazing restaurant.
For my birthday I ordered the 16 ounce prime rib. It was without a doubt the BEST prime rib Ive eaten anywhere! It is pricey, but for a special occasion, its well worth it! Treat yourself, you wont be disappointed!👍👍
The catfish was awesome! Well cooked. Also, try the hush puppies for sure! Good atmosphere too.
This is my second time here, and officially my favorite spot in Hattiesburg. I love southern cooking, and everything here hit the spot! They start off by bringing you complimentary sourdough bread and cornbread with three options of spreads. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, and it was perfection. So delicious, as were the sides. My friends vegetable plate included cabbage, green beans, sweet potatoes, roasted carrots & fried cornbread. She said it was all wonderful! My husband and my dad loved their dishes as well. Everything was wonderful. Our waiter was very nice & helpful. He also seemed to show up to refill your glass before you realized it was almost empty! The decor is farmhouse style, very cute & clean. I cant wait to visit this place again soon!
Beautiful laid back upscale place. Very country in style and foods. Down home meals with the atmosphere just a bit classy. Warm and inviting every visit. Service top notch. Food excellent.
Excellent food and service. Came across this restaurant by chance and they exceeded my expectations. Local food and locally sourced. The Cheesecake is wonderful. If I am ever in the area will definitely be stopping back in to eat.
Very good food a little pricey and the drinks are really good to nice people awesome cheesecake
Probably one of the best meals I have ever had from the appetizer to the dessert. The casual atmosphere is wonderful and the food is AMAZING. Highly recommend it if you are in the area!
Amazing and unique food pairings like Pulled Pork and Pancakes. The pork melts in your mouth with a pancake that perfectly pairs with the sauce and seasonings from the pork. Cant wait to return and try the rest of the menu like Strawberry Icebox Pie.
This place is a fun upscale southern restaurant. The service weve received here has been excellent, and the food and drinks have been delicious as well. Ive tried the prime rib, a burger, the pulled pork nachos, tomato basil pasta, and the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits werent my favorite, but everything else was wonderful.
Really good restaurant experience. Good service and great homestyle food! Ill be back
Very nice and friendly staff, always making sure their customers are happy, and the food was delicious.
This was an amazing experience. The staff were knowledgeable and very pleasant. If this is Southern Hospitality SIGN ME UP! I loved this place. Food was delicious, adult beverages were prepared properly. I will be back. I highly recommend this place for a very laid back and chill environment.
The food is amazing the cheesecake is the best in the south. Atmosphere is phenomenal
Rehearsal Dinner Party. It’s a little unnerving trying to find a venue in an unfamiliar city. We chose Cotton Blues and could not have been any happier. The atmosphere, the decor, and the fantastic service were superb! If we are in the area again, we will definitely come back, and will be happy to refer others there as well!
A sophisticated spin on southern cooking. Some of the best food in town. We have loved going here for dates or special occasions throughout the years! Amazing quality food, bar, and service
I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has the BEST food in Hattiesburg the food always has a twist that makes it different and it taste even better. The desserts are awesome. Sunday’s brunch is also excellent. Everyone should try CB.
We stoped here because of all of the reviews. The serves was good but the food awful. The food came out cold. Even heated I do not think it would have been eaten. I would suggest another restaurant
Our server was the best!!! We had a incident and knocked a glass off table. The young man that cleaned it up was funny and sweet. Also had another server stop by our table and tell us dont worry about it happens all the time. Made the whole situation easier on us. Oh and the food AMAZING !!!!! WE WILL BE BACK
The ribs are delicious, very tender and savory. The steamed cabbage is also an excellent choice. The service and food here is great. I do not think you will go wrong in making Cotton Blues your choice of dining.
First of all, the food was delicious! Loved the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup! My wife loved the catfish! The pie was excellent. Second, the service was exceptional - our waiter was always at the ready, and made good recommendations. This place is not expensive either - $20 per person for our bill.I cannot recommend it enough and I would eat here again!
Self advertised as Southern Cuisine, Cotton Blues provides that and so much more. They offer, in my opinion, the most unique and abstract menu selection in the greater Hattiesburg area (menu link is above reviews). I have personally tried the pulled-pork pancakes (WAY better than it first sounds), the blackened redfish tacos (pic attached), and the southern breakfast with perfectly matched hollandaise sauce. The prices run from $12-25 at lunchtime and a bit higher, with larger portions, at dinner while also offering a Sunday Brunch the wife and I are very excited to try; mimosas, brunch, bloody marys! If you want something completely different, dont pass up a chance to taste extravagant southern cooking at its finest.
Best fresh made salads daily. topped with shrimp or salmon..
The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice. The price was very high. Almost $80 for the four of us.
I enjoyed Cotton Blues and the great service. The bartenders have great synergy and are very attentive. Surprisingly fast service on a Friday night while there were 2 large private events going on. Not a large wine selection and to be honest, I expected to see more MS made wine and liquors. I could have overlooked though. Fried Oyster Rockefeller was amazing and seasoned very well. The blackened chicken pasta, a common popular dish to order was delicious and rich in flavor. The only downfall about the pasta is that it didnt agree with me the next morning unfortunately. And trust me Im sure it was the pasta. But all in all I would like to go back for another experience.
Great restaurant that we really enjoy dining at...The food, drinks, & service here is always exceptional. You can tell they have a great chef based on the way the menu is designed & the staff is quite attentive. We try to eat here once a month when it fits into our schedule. Highly recommended!!
Super ambiance, friendly staff and good food!
SUPER YUMMY!!!! FRESH, fantastic food prepared beautifully! Excellent service! We will be back, this place is a rare find! Amazing job guys!
My first time there and really enjoyed it. Exciting menu. Great service. Great atmosphere. Food is so good!!! Cheesecake is made there.try it Wow Wow Wow
Stopped in based on other reviews and this is a lovely little place. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the desserts are pretty great too. Wonderful flavors and a large variety of choices on the menu. Will definitely make this our go to stop when traveling through again.
Great place, good food good service. Definitely a keeper!!
Great place to have dinner. Some of the best crab cakes Ive ever eaten. My husband ordered the pancakes and sons ordered pasta. Lots of menu items to choose from. Service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming.
The food was delicious and the waitstaff was very hospitable. We only had one negative about our food and it was simply that the braised greens/collards were sweet. I Love any and all greens but have never had them with sugar in them...if you like sweet greens then Id say go for it, otherwise avoid the disappointment.Overall it was a pleasant experience.
The restaurant is great! We ordered the Korean burger and found that it was one of the best burgers we had ever eaten! Our server Katie was also extremely nice and attentive which made our experience just that much better. We will definitely be back! 5 stars for sure!
Took a little while but the food was great. Kind of a luxury country feel to it. Would be good for casual or formal. Would very much recommend.
Took two physicians out for a nice dinner and was blown away at the fantastic selection of entrees. The atmosphere was incredibly enlightening, the food spectacular and service impeccable. We are going back soon! Wow. Just wow! Loved it !!!
I ordered a take out order for 4 people.. around 100 dollars. My new York strip tasted off and was way over. Also the lady taking my order told me tuna is not a fish...( Ordering fish tacos) which is dumbfounding. It was not great but perhaps it was an off night as it seems to be popular to other reviewers. I wouldnt order again
Went for mothers day brunch. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was epic as usual. Love their twists in food. We had 9 people in our party and 5 kids and we all loved our food.
Best restaurant in Hattiesburg in my opinion! Best staff, super prompt, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable of their menu. Great suggestions from Wes! The food is AMAZING!! Great taste, and the presentation was awesome! The prices fit the quality and quantity. I don’t like prime rib, but I tasted my husband’s blackened prime....best I’ve ever had! Very cute decor and seating is very roomy! I love Cotton Blues! Going every chance I get.
I enjoy coming here with my boyfriend. Everyone working is always very nice and friendly. And the food is amazing!
We so enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The pork nachos were fantastic. Our meals, blackened red fish tacos and lobster and grits, were wonderful. And the turtle cheesecake was the best! An awesome meal on our last night in Hattiesburg! We sure know where to eat if were down south again!!
Great service. The bartender was awesome!. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos, and they tasted great. I will be going back to try a different dish. Stop by and try the food and order a nice glass of wine while you wait.
Great atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. Food is always delicious. First time Ive been for something other than brunch and it did not disappoint!
Good southern food with up scale plating. The anotherAtmosphere is definitely different feels like youre eating in a barn but in a good way. Idk, its just different try it the food is really good. Be warned the steak its a little on the petite side.
Strong outperform!. Food quality a level (at least) above their price point, creative menu, great staff, well executed decor.Complimentary beet chips and pickles were a wonderful starter (try them together!)Southwest burger was perfectly cooked with great flavor, bun, and wonderfully balanced toppings.Blackened redfish tacos were a delightful mix of ingredients that added up to more than a some of its parts.Salted caramel cheese cake was creamy and not overly sweet, crust was perfectly firm yet crumbly.Wish there was a place this good locally!Definitely a go-to place when were next back visiting!
Found this amazing restaurant online while traveling through Mississippi. It has a huge menu, something for everyone. It was late so opted for a vegetable plate. Our amazing waiter Bailey accommodated our special requests so we could try different options. It was late so we opted for a veggie plate. Everything was great but especially enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, Brussel sprouts, tomato soup and bread with three spreads. The cheesecake was the best I have ever had. Will definitely be back next time we travel in this direction!
This was the best food and the best restaurant experience I have had in a very long time. Both were incredible. Bos customer service was the best. I would highly recommend!
The customer service was really great. The waiters were very nice and informative of the menu items. They kept our drinks filled and were very attentive. The food on the other hand was not so good. I ordered the blackened shrimp pasta and it was a strong burnt taste to it. I tried adding salt, but it didnt help. I tried to finish it, but I just couldnt. If I go back, Ill definitely be trying something else.
An AMAZING dining experience!!!!! My colleagues and I had a wonderful time exploring the vast menu of delectable appetizers, entrees, and desserts! Our complimentary starter (breads & spreads) was awesome! Our appetizer was insanely tasteful (fried green tomatoes w/pork bellies), our meals were phenomenal (grits w/lobster) and my dessert was unspeakably delicious (cheesecake milkshake w/your choice of cheesecake!). To top it all off, our server, Zachary Carr was exceptional! He gave us world class service with a friendly smile and relaxed vibe!!! If youre ever in Hattiesburg, MS and looking for an outstanding dining experience, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COTTON BLUES!!!
Great place to eat! The menu has something for everyone. The crab cake was EXCELLENT!! Tomato Jam is awesome!
Awesome Happy Hour and great staff. Very cordial and excellent service.Appetizers and entrees are Delicious!! ...... you must try the cheesecakes - fabulous.
Honestly I ate the best burger Ive ever had here when I visited for the first time the other day. The service was amazing and so was the food. Ive had their cheesecake prior to going to the restaurant because they sell it in rameys and it tastes remarkable, but when I ordered it after I had finished my burger it was even better. My cousin job shadowed here and he can tell you that everything is made fresh. Definitely a place you should consider visiting.
My daughters graduation dinner was held here. The service was impeccable and the food was phenomenal. The servers were friendly and accommodating of all of our guests. The guests with special requests received their meals as requested. There were no complaints. We will definitely visit again.
First the service was terrible. It took an hour to get a chicken sandwich and a shrimp taco. The food was sub par. We did have some friendly diners next table to us. I wont be back to this restaurant.
A bit pricey, but the food was good. Some of the dishes were more eclectic than tasty. Very good fried green tomatoes with pork, with a apple/cinnamon chutney/sauce. Strange to find the same flavor on the grilled cheese. Gumbo needed a lot of salt, but was otherwise tasty.
A very cool place for lunch with my husband and two young children. Food was ready pretty quickly. Part of our order was incorrect and they fixed it right away and apologized for the mistake. Seems like a great place for a big group to have a casual meal or drinks.
Friendly staff. Good vibes. Great food. Real South Mississippi stick-to-your-ribs kinda vittles. Great place for Sunday brunch, too. They also serve the best house-made desserts in town thanks to their amazing pastry chef.
Not impressed. Going on the reviews I was expecting great recipes and quality ingredients. Unfortunately, the recipes were mediocre, the quality of the food was sub par, and the service just OK. (She asked us twice if we wanted dessert with food still in our mouths, finally we said no). Sad because we came here for our anniversary. Overall, High prices and not worth the cost. Can get better food cooking at home for much less.
Loved it. The gumbo and cheesecake were excellent. Nice people too.
