Love Penn. Ave. Meats! Great quality meats. They carry a variety of other items... deli meats, salads, deserts, fresh produce, etc. to name a few. The staff is excellent and friendly. I do not buy meat from anywhere else.

Oh my goodness! Today was our second time going here and just wow! Amazing food, dessert, and omg the meat selection!!! We got their ribs today and tried them as soon as we got home...the meat just falls off the bone delicious!!! Also their apple pie lemonade is absolutely freaking delicious! Never had something like that before. This store is really amazing 😊

Ive been shopping here for about 30 years. Its the only place I will get my meat from. The people are always friendly. The store is clean well-kept-& my shopping experience is always Pleasant.

The staff were super friendly, and even though they were packed, my friend and I were helped immediately. I was able to select the exact cuts I wanted from the choices they had available. Everyone was wearing a mask, and the one older gentleman who had forgotten his was offered one for free. I was very pleased with their selection and their meat quality is excellent and well worth the price. They DO accept EBT.

As a meat lover, Im a bit let down by this place that is intended specifically for meats. We typically get the sausages here, but I dont think I will be any more because the nearby Dutch market has what I would consider much better ones. We tend to get their sides for the boys (children) to eat and while they do not taste bad, most of them are not very good either. For anyone that isnt a meat critic, do not take my word on the beef too seriously, because I tend to eat organic, grass-fed, and usually prime meats. As such, I do not find the other meats here to meet many standards and while that is somewhat expected, as a place meant specifically for meats, I feel it should be of more decent quality. However, the meats here are good and the jerky is excellent. The workers are kind and the place smells wonderful, and there are a number of choices that are of greater quality than the rest.

Writing this as Im eating a fantastic italian sub. Great quality hot and cold sandwiches for lunch. Butcher offers fresh, high quality meats. Attentive staff that do not hesitate to cut to order your meat, or customize a sandwich. I cant not go at once a week for lunch - will always highly recommend Penn Ave Meats.

I had lunch here recently and enjoyed their Monday special! Very well-priced! I had a huge double cheeseburger and it was amazing. They have a grocery store inside as well that has some ready made items in case youre looking for an easy meal idea. Definitely worth a look if youre nearby!

I had been using (or attempting to use) another butcher for a few years and had always had a spotty experience. Coming Penn Avenue Meats was like a night and day experience. The shop was well lit. There were plenty of staff who were super nice and helpful. They had everything we were looking for and more. Really fantastic experience. I highly recommend you visit yourselves.

I have bought meat here for years even drive from Martinsburg as their quality cannot be compared to whats available here. After reading some of these reviews Im stunned and being skeptical I dont believe most. Penn meats, a small shop atmosphere with a heart for customer service, delectable carnivorous offerings and more!

I have lived in town for going on 10 yrs now, when I first got here I was told that Hoffmans was the best place to go.Well I only have been to Hoffmans 2 or maybe 3 times and the truth is Penn ave meats is better and the only complaint I have is I cant buy more from them everything looks so good and fresh you want to buy everything in the store makes you hungry.

This place is perfect! I find this shop a very nice place that gives you a friendly atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, seeming to know the customers very well. The food is so good too, pre made and fresh cooked sandwiches. There’s a variety of options and you can never leave the shop empty handed! Prices are good as well.

First time visiting there as I am new in town. This place is fantastic! The food there is wonderful and very reasonable as far as prices go. The meat is very good quality, far better than the grocery store and the price is right! I bought some chicken and was extremely pleased that night when I baked it. I didnt have to season as much because the flavor was that good! I will definitely be coming back for more!

Excellent butcher shop... and take out sandwich shop. Do yourself a favor and stop in here for a made-to-order sandwich for lunch. My family got a ham for Thanksgiving from here. First it was suppose to be a John Martin ham sandwich sliced instead we received a ham that was not John Martin and it was dinner sliced. We picked it up on Tuesday before Thanksgiving immediately we were not happy. By Thanksgiving the ham started to turn grey in spots, it was starting to mold in 2 days. We called and told them about it and was told “We will make a note of it “ like to say who cares. We also noticed when we picked up the ham that some of their meats in the case were turning brown. WE WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!! Consider yourself warned!!! I have told everyone I have come in contact with to stay away from them!!! Had they acted like they cared or offered to make it right I might have given them another chance. Very bad customer service!!

They could tell the freshness and quality of the meat and it was excellent cooked on the flattop. Ill be back on Friday to pick up some of their awesome smoked sausage for our new years day dinner.

Used to love this place. Recently visited after not having been there for a while. I bought 3 containers of chicken salad. One for me, my mom, and my aunt. That night me And my husband had sandwiches for dinner. The salad was horrible! It has tons of little hard pieces of something gross we cant even identify. My mom thought bone, i thought gristle. Trust me when i tell you it was disgusting.... and unfortunately makes me wonder about everything else there. None of us will be returning.

I am the first person to thank someone and be appreciative when I receive great service unfortunately that is not the case here......I called to speak with Roger at Penn Ave meats about buying some expensive meat from them on a commercial level. We wanted to know if they would slice meat and put a piece of paper between each few slices. Roger immediately went on a tangent about how Im calling him hes not calling me, something about how hes sure Im going to want the best price, how hes going to need to pay an employee to do that, and Im probably going to want to pick it up early in the morning. Now at this point I had simply asked if he could do this for me. I was looking to give them business. He gave me every reason possible as to why he didnt want my business rather than how he could help us and gain our business. If they cant put a piece of paper between 4-5 slices of meat they may be in the wrong business. We will take our Business elsewhere. Nothing special here...very disappointing

Penn Avenue Meats sell quality meats at a reasonable price. They even sell meat packages. The steaks are so tender and fresh. Im strongly considering buying all my meats from there from now on.

I wish I could take them back to Bethesda with me. High Quality meat and very affordable! They make a delicious cheeseburger with all fresh ingredients for only $2.69!!

On Saturday, 9/15/18, I bought an Italian sub at Penn Avenue Meats just before closing & ate it soon thereafter (still cold).I had a few bites left over so I removed the bread & gave it to my 4 yr old German Shepherd. Within a few hours after eating we both had projectile vomiting.It was the only food I ate that day. I don’t eat dog food so that sub was the only food common to dog and me. My dog has never ever been sick before this day.After our stomachs emptied we were both back to normal; food-bourne illness to be sure.On Monday I phoned to alert the Manager of the fact that his store is selling some bad food.I was very nice & polite (raised that way). The Manager seemed disinterested & dismissive. He did apologize (once) but sounded insincere.He never once asked for my name & never offered to compensate me for my upsetting purchase. “I’ll look into it”:Bagel-licious subs are much better, the Owners more friendly, & I have never puked up their food after eating it. Just saying.If poor customer service & painful vomiting is your thing then stay with Penn Avenue Meats and good luck!Zero stars & I DEFINATELY do not reccomend!
