I have been a patient at Focus Eye Care for years. The staff is friendly and Dr. Esperon is a phenomenal eye care professional. Really nice and caring person - both listens and explains well!

I have been going to Focus Eye Care for years. Dr Esperon is the best! He is professional, friendly and compassionate. He listens to your concerns and doesnt rush. The office is very clean. His staff are friendly and makes you feel welcomed.

Wife came here, they are focus on the hustle. Staff is nice, place is clean, doctor is respectful and professional. Now the cons, we have good insurance, and a free yearly eye exam. Time, you going to spend at least 3 hours for a simple eye exam nothing truly remarkable or impressive she had more detail exams in the past at another facilities with the same insurance, we switch because the doctor retired. Furthermore, They will hide all kind of fees until you have to pay. $40 dollars for dilation which is supposed to be part of the exam, $50 dollars copay when our card said $25 and they forgot to give her her prescription after she wanted to see other options for glasses somewhere else. Called and their eye exam without insurance is $195 plus fees. She overheard another person pay $350 for a simple exam. She compared the exam to a Costco exam.

Helpful and friendly front desk. Clean and pristine office space. Great service from the moment you walk in, through the testing, to the exam and once you’re finished at check out. I always leave pleased with the experience

I was so glad that I went to the Focus Eye Care today though I dont always visit an Eye clinic . The staff were so welcoming, friendly, polite and everybody was so pleasant. Every procedure that they intended to do for me, they explained it, for my understanding as a patient as well as to lessen my doubts andminimize anxiety. First time visit for new prescription lenses and first time considering contact lenses. Very clean, professional and safe environment. I arrived 15 minutes early to my 1:30pm appointment. It was my first (and last) time visiting Focus Eye Care. I wanted something local and I went by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but was completely disappointed. I didn’t leave the office until almost 3:30pm. Why does it take over 2 hours to receive a standard eye exam? I spent most of the time waiting around to be seen, which is something I thought they would try and avoid due to a pandemic. Wrong. The reception was unwelcoming and stand-offish. I brought in my own frames and asked to only replace lenses. After insurance, I still owed $151 just for new lenses. I’ve been to places before where I’ve received a brand new pair of glasses for that price. On top of that, I left with my eyes dilated and was not offered a shield or protection from the sun. If you want the scan alternative instead of droplets, it’s an additional $40. My sister just had her eyes checked a week before somewhere else and she wasn’t charged for this. At this point, between the service, the waiting, the up-charges, I didn’t even wait out the dilation period, I asked to leave. I highly recommend you find somewhere that sees you on schedule and isn’t trying to get you for your money. Focus eye care is not it.

Ive been going to Focus Eye Care for years, since they were at the other location on Prospect Ave. I would say that theyve gotten better over the years in terms of wait time and courtesy. Thats my experience. I made an appointment online on a Tuesday afternoon for the following morning. Their COVID protocols are awesome. The receptionists were very nice, and took my information very quickly. The intake tech that scanned my eyes and did the other pre-exam procedures before I saw the doctor was great. She wiped down all the surfaces, machines and disinfected all of the tools in front of me. The female Doctor I met with was so sweet, quick, knowledgeable and personable. They always give me free samples and a fresh new pair of contacts for free. I was the only patient in the office and my wait time was about 5 minutes. The office is so stylish and very clean. Any surfaces I touched, were promptly disinfected. I never buy my glasses there because theyre too expensive. But they will give you youre written prescription so you can purchase glasses online or at cheaper places. I have no complaints with this place.

The dr was very nice and knowledgeable, staff is courteous . The only thing i dont like is the 39 dollars that you need to pay when they dont use eyedrops to dilate your eyes. She told my mom medicare doesnt cover it . After my mom paid 39 at the front desk then she told us theres another 45 for refraction that she needs to pay. When my mom paid 39 only in cash, the lady at the reception didnt put it on invoice that she paid it only when i request it.

I had a terrible experience with the entire team at Focus. They prioritize patients that they feel they need to prioritize, and let everyone else wait around. I was very friendly with the entire staff, and waited my turn as I was supposed to. When it came my turn to get assistance with my glasses, I was cut off when another patient came in and was left standing there waiting with no help for 45 minutes. Mind you, I had already waited my turn and another woman walked in and all of a sudden they made me sit and wait while she was helped by the person who was in the middle of working with me. They dont care, and theyre not a group I would recommend to anyone ever again. Another patient who saw what happened said that this is something that has happened to her and her family there on multiple occasions so it wasnt just my experience. Dont go here. Go anywhere else.

Amazing process. The place is great, the entire eye exam procedure is very smooth and the testing is done at an advanced level. Communicating with the doctor is very confortable and they take good care of you!

We just moved to NJ and this was the second clinic I called to make an appointment yesterday. They took me in today. I have personally worked in the doctors office. This is one of the best clinics I have ever visited as a patient. From the front desk to the examination room, it was a pleasant experience. The front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. As I was the last patient for the day, they kind of eased my anxiety regarding snow in NJ as we moved from SA. The Doc was very thorough and she also made me comfortable, answered my question.Overall I would give an A plus for my visit today. Looking forward for my next visit.I would recommend this clinic to everyone❤️

Prompt safe attentive professional competent care and service

After being a customer for almost 15 years I will not be returning. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance only to show up and everyone acts confused and mixes me up with another patient. The front desk staff was not apologetic about the experience and instead apprar to blame me for the mix up. I took my business elsewhere.

From the start a great place! The people behind the front desk were so friendly and accommodating. The eye doctor was very thorough and nice. First time getting contacts and she answered all my crazy questions with ease. Highly recommend.

You are always treated in a professional manner and you get a comprehensive exam, would not go anywhere else.

I loved the office. I loved the dr. Everyone is so nice.

In June 2020 I brought in a prescription for computer glasses and paid a couple hundred extra out of pocket to get really nice frames. It took a few weeks for the glasses to come in and when they did they were way too strong. I was told you brought in the prescription and we filled it - it isnt our fault. If you want an exam here for a new prescription we can do it. Problem was I wasnt due for one yet from my insurance so my very expensive glasses were rendered useless. In January 2021 I went back to Focus, got an exam there and ordered new lenses for my expensive unused frames (which Focus charged the Insurance $224 for - steep price for computer lenses) which I just purchased from them in June. I specifically asked the doctor to write me out two prescriptions - one for computer and one for reading. The prescriptions I got were a progressive prescription (which I wanted no part of) and was told a computer prescription (although on the back the tech wrote single vision computer and reading). I asked where the reading prescription was and was told The doctor made the computer prescription so they are good for both reading and the computer). I asked how that is possible since computer and reading are two totally different strengths. I really got no answer. Three weeks later when they came in they were even worse than the original lenses. I asked where are the lenses they took out which my insurance paid for months earlier (figuring down the road my eyes may get bad enough to use them) - I was told We recycled them - you should have asked for them back if you wanted them. I was then told I could see the doctor right away for another exam. It turns out it wasnt right away, I didnt have the time so I left. In the course of 7 months my insurance has paid for two sets of expensive lenses (one which Focus threw away), a set of frames and I have paid out of pocket extra for the frames.......all useless to me now. I got a call from a guy who I assume ran the place telling me they would give me another exam and get me the right lenses. At least he is the first one to admit to me the prescription wrote out was in fact for reading glasses, not computer as others were saying. Considering I cant even use them for reading (they are way too strong) I wont even bother going back in for a 3rd time because I can already guess the outcome - more frustration, misinformation and glasses I still cant use.

Been going here for years - since I was a kid.I see Dr. Esperon who is excellent. My only complaint is the long wait time so plan your appointments accordingly.

I arrived at 9:50 and checked in via telephone from my car. I checked out and was back in my car at 12:09pm. The space was clean with with strict safety protocols in place. I would have liked more information on what the hold up was during my extended periods of waiting. I would have also liked a little accountability on the part of the doctor when i addressed the length of my wait. She did some interesting math: I dilated your eyes around 11, it usually takes about 30 min (I was previous told 20) ... so were about 15 minutes behind. It was 11:56. I had specified at the beginning of the 20 minute procedure that i needed to be out by 12. It wasnt going to be a problem. Except that it was. Communication and relationship are important with my health care providers. My experience with Focus lacked both.

I use Focus Eye Care for both me and my daughter, my parents, sister and nephew all go as well. Dr. Esperon is a wonderful doctor and the entire staff is helpful. They are great with children. My daughter is 4 and wasnt scared at all.I highly recommend them.

My husband and I arrived at his scheduled appt time.. I waited in the car as he sat in the office for 1.5 hours without being seen by the doctor. Instead the doctor continuously walked by him as he sat in the hallway chair and continued a discussion about weddings and vacation trips with another patient. Never made eye contact with him or apologized about the delay or anything. How inconsiderate. My husband then checked out without being seen by the doctor. My last experience here was very similar but I thought it was just a bad day then. My husband nor I will be returning. Be prepared for excessive wait times depending on who you are. Never again.

Went in for an eye exam and received excellent service. Dr. Matthew Esperon and the staff here are all very nice and professional. Not to mention there is a good selection of eyeglasses to choose from. COVID protocols are safe as well. 5/5 highly recommend 👌🏼

Everything is so clean and done promptly. Especially with COVID, they have an awesome system going on. I have been going to Dr. Esperon for years now. I’m sad to be moving away. I was seen here in September and had a negative experience. My hopes extremely high because of the amazing reviews, but I was very disappointed. I had the unfortunate luck to meet Vladimir, the optician there. I had a few issues with my glasses and Vladimir repeatedly stated that my issues were purely “mental,” and that I needed to get that fixed/checked out. He was extremely condescending and attempted to belittle me many times. While he claimed no other place would redo my annual check up, I called my insurance and sorted everything out. Vladimir displayed absolutely disgusting behavior and no one should be treated the way I was.Also- when I tried to get my money back, the front desk staff claimed I had never paid anything out of pocket. Fortunately, I had all my receipts.

While I had a good experience with the eye doctor himself, the wait was ridiculous! I had a 415pm appointment for just a normal eye exam to get a new glasses/contact prescription and I was there until 7pm.

The office is clean a adequately equipped to minimize contact between patients as well as between patients and office staff / providers.Highly recommend!

My experience today went well. Even though we are in a pandemic due to covid-19 the office team took all measures to keep us safe and make sure everything was clean. This was also done in a timely manner where I did not have to wait a long period of time to be seen. The office has also made the necessary changes so the staff remain safe and healthy. Made appointment as a new client and received multiple texts to confirm which was all good and well. Day of appoint received a text to fill out COVID survey. Showed up for appoint 10 minutes early and texted the phone number to confirm that I was outside waiting to be called15 minutes go by, then 30, 45 - heard nothing. Call in to front desk, asked to please hold, so I did. Didn’t expect that to be yet another 20 minutes. Text again stating I was outside with NO reply. LEFT after two hours of waiting.Funny then get a survey questionnaire asking how my visit was.Burned a 1/2 day vacation to sit in car.Will be finding another office.

Would not extend my contacts prescription without coming into their office in the midst of the pandemic. I expressed not being comfortable coming in with my whole family at the moment but they said there was nothing they can do. Despite NJ law allowing for up to 2 years expiration and other eye doctors extending prescriptions remotely.

Everyone was really nice and professional. I loved how the eye doctor, Dr. Joni FeldBaum-Smith, explained every step of the process and how patient she was in answering my questions. They also had great COVID regulations in place as well. Although we had to wait in the parking lot until we were called up, the wait wasnt long at all, it barely felt like 5 minutes. Though, this could be because there werent a lot of people on the day I went. An added bonus is how gorgeous the entire office looked. Overall, I had a very positive experience, and I will definitely be going back there for my next eye check up. If youre looking for a new O.D. I highly recommend this place, and Dr. Joni FeldBaum-Smith in particular.______________________________________________________The doctors might be great but their glasses store is horrible. I bought a new pair of glasses from them and the lenses fell out after a couple of weeks. Since we had a warranty on them my dad went to get them fixed and instead of doing it for free as the warranty guarantees they tried charging us hundreds of dollars for fixing it. When my dad told them that theres warranty for it and he shouldnt be charged, they said the lenses fell out because of the use of chemicals and therefore didnt fall under the warranty. But the only chemical I used was the fog remover, to prevent glasses from fogging up, that I purchased at their store. So they were essentially selling products that werent safe for the glasses they were selling. Finally they agreed to not charge but then proceeded to say that if my glasses broke again before the warranty ended they would charge us. Honestly, I really liked this place before I experienced such disgusting service. So while I recommend going for the doctors dont buy anything at their glasses store. Go to another place to purchase glasses, a place that wont try to cheat you.

All around fantastic experience coming here! Very short wait time for my appointment, and my glasses were ready in two days. Amazing selection of frames to choose from as well. Since I also wear contacts, I was able to find the most comfortable ones at a reasonable price.

Went out my way to make it on time to my 6:30pm appointment to only be waiting in the hallway while the Dr is having social conversation with his patients. After 1hr and 15 minutes I decided to leave. If a practice can’t value my time than I won’t value their practice. This “emergency room” wait time is unacceptable.

Ivory and Sam were so helpful in picking out my frames. They spent almost an hour helping me decide among all the wonderful choices of frames they had.The name brand frames were reasonably priced. I loved the selection. I couldn’t decide. I wear frames everyday, all day and they had wearer friendly name brands that I loved. Not just over the top brands that most franchises carry.I had a very positive experience here because I feel it’s not a franchise where you don’t get personal attention. They make time for you. My eyeglasses took over 2 mos before I got it. I understand that covid situation, but the mere fact that they broke my original was unacceptable. My expensive frame was damaged and replaced by a frame quite similar but not exactly the same and it’s cheaper. Vland was courteous enough to offer another lense that is progressive to replace the single vision that I had in my other new frame that I bought from them, just to compensate the long waiting time. My new lense was sent back to the lab together with my old frame because they couldn’t figure out how they can fit my cat eye frame. I’m not satisfied with the replacement coz I love my old frame. That cost me more money because they broke my expensive frame that I love most. But I just walked away and will never come back to this clinic.

Bad from the start...i was asked to choose my toddlers glasses from the older kids frames, and not guided at all, even though the store was empty. My son is two which I mentioned several times, luckily I remembered the specialist told me to ask for miraflex glasses... Ok...then we chose a pair clearly marked $139. My insurance covers up to $130, so I thought Id pay $9, plus my $25 copay. Low and behold, the lady tells me that the price of the glasses went up to $180 ( a whopping $50 more?!) I asked why such a huge increase, she said they simply marked up all of the glasses in the store. I found it very odd that she conveniently marked up my glasses $50 as soon as she saw that my insurance covered $130. I bought the glasses anyway as I didnt want to risk bringing my child to multiple places with coronavirus still going around, but we probably wont be returning next year when my kid needs new glasses.Edit: the owner was very responsive to my concerns and helped us choose the right frame. Changing review to 5 star for excellent response. He definitely cares about his patients and business. Hopefully hes retrained his staff.

Worst service spent time coming in early to pick out my glasses and asked my benefits after my appointment and finally picking out a pair of glasses some other representative in glasses is telling a whole diff set of benefits and turned out they had someone else’s profile in my account. Wasted my time coming in for a pair of glasses and having to pay my babysitter extra. Never coming back.
