I have been going to the Gulfport garage for over 10 years. Eric the owner gives very great service and has a nice team of people. I always feel like Im getting what I need and he always explains everything to me and is very fair with the pricing. I recommend it to anybody who wants to get their car done the right way for a fair price.

Gulfport garage is the only place I’ll take my cars or recommend. I melted my spark plugs when my radiator busted and other mechanics told me that I needed a head gasket replacement and then ultimately that I needed an engine for cost—but not one if I found it . . . total run around xALOT. Eric is honest, knowledgeable, and professional. He said they could crate an engine in etc. if needed. They took my car in and I didn’t need a head gasket or an engine, and basically saved me over $2,000. Another time my clutch had a broken pin on the petal and versus a clutch it was $17. 10/10 highly recommend.

Where to start.Eric is one of the sweetest garage owners Ive ever met. The staff is professional, quick and reasonable. From removing a stuck dispstick in my 2016 Ford f150 to fixing up my 1983 datsun 280zx turbo so that I could drive a 38 year old car 16 hours.. these guys are miracle workers. Honest and hardworking, I would and do recommend these guys to literally everyone I meet. Seriously.. these are the perfect example of best practices.

Today was my first time at Erics shop. I was recommended by a friend. I have had a trust issue with shops doing mediocre work or dealerships up charging me for many things but it seems in todays world you would think if all else fails you go to the dealership. I have had this idea in my head for 16 years so you can imagine how much money and time I have wasted. Today I went into Erics shop to get a CV axle boot fixed. On the phone he quoted a what I thought was already a reasonable price to fix the axle so I agreed to come in. On the phone I also mentioned to inspect the other axles to see if they are nearing the need to be replaced and Eric told me he will check everything to make sure the other good ones are still good. In person, Eric is a very nice, honest, and professional guy. He treated me with respect and told me after the inspection what needed to be done and recommended me that I fix the whole axle and not just the boot because fixing the boot alone would cost more money. Then he looked up to see how long it usually would take to fix the axle and saw that the recommended time was longer than the time he usually needed to fix an axle so he offered to lower the price of the labor. The job was finished 30mins less than what he had told me and the price was a little over half of the original quote he gave me so I was extremely satisfied. I then inspected the axles on both sides to compare the quality and I will conclude this review by saying that I definitely would come back again for all my automobile repairs.

Eric is a top-notch mechanic, business man and a great guy and Ive had nothing but great communications and outcomes with him and his crew.Its refreshing having a hometown garage to count on instead of a chain shop! Car would not start, towed to Eric’s shop based on a recommendation from a stranger Carlos who gave me his card and said that Eric was great. Well my expectations were exceeded. I was expecting to have to pay for a new new starter (which Eric’s quote was better than the going rate) but when they went to take the starter out, they noticed the wire connecting the starter was crushed and they replaced it for a fraction of the potential cost. Doesn’t get more honest than that!!!!

I firmly believe that Gulfport Garage is one of the MOST honest and reliable places to take your vehicle. I have had some rough experiences with other shops not being able to diagnose the issue let alone repair them. I have taken my van to Gulfport Garage several times for several years without issue, and at this point, I wouldnt go anywhere else. Eric and his crew are amazing. A/C repair, motor mounts, general maintenance, you name it. Great service!

I took my truck in that had a HEAVY knocking and was told my engine had to be replaced. They replaced my trucks engine and it set me back a BIG CHUNK. A $6000 chunk, just to have to be taken back numerous times and the owner ERIC also says he will no longer work on my vehicle because he doesn’t like the vehicle owner. Not voiding the engine warranty; but leaving me stranded with a new engine that is now knocking. He’s even seen all the oil changes from Take 5, and the man declines to do any labor nor tell of any places To should take the vehicle. UNTRUSTWORTHYSCAMMERSI will make sure everyone knows.

I found my new auto repair home *thumbs up* Could it be that a garage just a few blocks from where I live could be honest and reputable, do good work and charge fair prices. Apparently so!I had some power steering issues and was hearing a noise on my 2006 Altima. I thought it might be a belt? Unfortunately, I had a leak in my power steering hose, didnt take the car in quickly enough to get it checked out and the power steering pump blew.I dropped my car off at Gulfport Garage and met the owner, Eric who was very personable. He called a few hours later after they had diagnosed the problem, and I was told the repairs could be done that same day and the cost for a new hose and a new pump would be about $625. I looked online and saw that the estimated price range for just the pump fix alone was $503 to $729. His price seemed very fair to me. They finished the repair the same day as promised.When I went to leave, I remembered about another issue I was having with the car. Eric came outside with me, made an on the spot diagnosis that Im confident is probably correct. Ill be taking my car back to Gulfport Garage to have that repair done too.

Does not over promise and under deliver, he is up front and hard to believe with repair shops but HONEST as well. I can’t say enough good to do it justice, his pricing is very fair and he truly puts the customer first. We drive 30 minutes for repairs and well worth it!

I went in with what I thought it was going to be a very expensive air conditioning repair (or so I was told by two other AC mechanics in Tampa) after a few minutes of inspection Eric informed me that my car had only a relay issue...so he replaced it for less than $20. Car has ice cold AC now. BOOM!!! 😎

Probably the nicest man I have ever met. While on vacation our car broke down and put us in an almost impossible situation, this shop truly saved the day. Great service and looks out for the customers best interest. I brought my car in for an airbag light. They quickly diagnosed the failed part and recommended I call ford to see if it was under warranty, which it was. They could have just charged me to fix it at the garage, but ended up saving me $280. I appreciate that care and honesty, would definitely recommend this shop to others.

Quick, easy to find. Eric explained what would be checked. The car was done in 3 hours for under $100. Lucky it was Tuesday Market so I had plenty to entertain myself while waiting.

Gulfport garage is the best. After 2 other highly rated garages failed to fix a large oil leak in our 1998 one owner Chrysler Sebring convertible (while charging too much) ..... Eric and his terrific mechanic “Joe” diagnosed it immediately and went right to work on it (a tough job) but by the next morning it was fixed and doesn’t leak a drop and the cost was quite reasonable.Both Eric (owner) and Joe were very personable and easy to talk to.I highly recommend this garage.Bill Gale

The entire experience (my first at this garage) was perfect. Made an appointment for an estimate - experiencing suspension problem. Within 20 minutes they drove my car, and checked it out and had my estimate. WAAAY less than I thought it would be, so I approved work and was told it would be ready in an hour. In an hour I got a call that it was done. Oh, and it was $10 less than the original quote because the part was less than expected. Erich, the owner, was courteous, professional, good sense of humor, and most of all, honest. This may have been my best experience dealing with an auto repair, ever. I highly recommend them.Again in July 15 I needed their service to repair a bad brake line. They got me in right away and made the repair quickly and at minimal charge. Another 5 star experience!Ive had a few more experiences since the above, none major repairs, and every single time I received excellent service at a very reasonable price.I highly recommend!!

Had the A/C on my vehicle go out while on vacation and called and talked to Eric at Gulfport Garage. He said he had a full schedule but would do his best to squeeze me in. So I dropped the vehicle off in the morning and by lunch received a call with their diagnosis. The quoted price was fair and they had the fix done within a couple hours. Grateful for the quick work and professionalism Eric and Gulfport Garage had so that my family could continue our vacation with minimal interruption.

As my aging car is requiring services I have been scouring the internet for reliable mechanics to help fix my car when comes the time I needed a mechanic. Little did I realize that google reviews have helped me made my decision today to contact Gulfport Garage Inc. Just last week my car has been over heating and the check engine light came on. I am so thankful that I called Gulfport Garage Inc to help me with my car issue. I called at 8am today and spoke with Eric. I gave him a brief synopsis of what is going on with my car. He is honest and told me that he had a busy schedule but if I can get in as soon as possible he can give me an answer within the hour about what is wrong and if he can get my problem rectified the same day. I got my car dropped off at around 8:15. He called back as promised and told me the issues and how much it would cost and I was thrilled he was able to get it fixed by the end of the day. Yes, he got my car fixed and I got it back by 4. If I had gone to another garage to get my car fixed, I would be handed a Santa’s list of everything imaginable that could be wrong with my car to be fixed and it would have cost me the same amount to buy a brand new car and in the meantime be without transportation for days. Let me tell you why you have to go to Gulfport Garage if you need your car fixed. And I dont care where you live. It is worth the drive. I was turned onto Eric at Gulfport Garage by a business colleague. At the time, I needed an air bag for my XJ 8, hold on, the story gets better. Crown Jaguar quoted me some ridiculous price as I expected they would but regardless, the best quote I received was double what Eric quoted me. Unfortunately, after Eric fixed my car, I lost it along with my house, my business and my kids. A very very low time for me. I was left with my 1996 Ford 150 and $5 in my pocket. No, I am not kidding. I was left a restaurant I had just opened that was not making any money. Fast forward 6 months I needed a new rear end on my truck. It would not move. I had it towed to Eric and hoped for good nights at the restaurant to pay for it, but unfortunately it was slow at the restaurant. Not only that week but for the next two months. I called Eric and told him I didnt have the money to pick it up. He told me that it was OK and that my truck would be there when I could get the money together. It took two months before I was able to get the money together and with excitement was able to go pick up my truck. Because it had been sitting so long the battery was dead, but instead of charging it, Eric had his mechanic put a brand new battery in my truck and did not charge me for it. Eric is not only an extremely honest business owner with high morals and integrity, but also compassion and sympathy for my situation when almost everyone else in the world wouldnt have. I refer everyone to Eric because I believe in him. He is honest, more than fair and amazing compassion! He has no idea how much I appreciate how understanding he was and what he did for me.

Extremely honest and will tell you how it is. Hell lay out what can wait and what needs emergency service. He helped me when I was buying a car and did all the maintenance on my vehicle, mostly oil changes as it was covered under the vehicle lease.His rates are very reasonable and he even undercharges if theres something not the customers fault from defective parts that werent his fault. You wont find a better local mechanic or better downtown area to explore during your service.

I had a heater hose break while visiting friends in Gulfport on a road trip for Thanksgiving. I took it to Gulfport Garage because it was the closest mechanic I could get to before the car would overheat. First I want to say the staff was nice and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately, the repair they did lasted about 2 weeks after getting back home to Gainesville. Another shop here said a clamp was too tight and cut the hose.Originally, I wrote a bad review about this experience, but the owner, Eric, called me to let me know he was on vacation when the repair was done and offered to compensate me for the job and some for the new repairs. If I was still there, I would have taken it back to give them the opportunity to fix it again. Given the professionalism and lengths that Eric went to make sure I was okay afterwards, I can tell they are straight shooters and would gladly trust them if I were in the area again and needed help.

Eric is a breath of fresh air in the auto repair business-honest to the point of blunt. No extra repairs or mystery charges. He runs a clean shop, and there’s popcorn by 8:30 any morning!

After getting “estimates” of anywhere between $500-$700 and being told that there is a charge just to diagnose issue, I was referred to Eric by word of mouth. He was able to get my vehicle in right away because the next available day would be 4 days later and based on what I told him, he recommended sooner than later because of safety and possible increase in repair cost due to continued driving. I dropped off at 8:30 am, he called me within 20 minutes (didn’t even make it home yet), told me what needed to be done, the cost, and it would be done before lunch. Cost out the door was less than $250!! I won’t go anywhere else now and recommend him highly!!! Thanks again Eric!

They didnt hesitate. Not only were they willing to accommodate what I needed, but they came up with a better solution that saved me both time and money. They kept me well informed and were extremely polite and honest. Its not easy to find a mechanic you can trust, but these guys are an exception.

I have been messing with internal combustion all of my life, first with boats at a very young age, then in automotive production, then as an auto restorer, (much more fun than production). I have always worked on my own equipment, however my age and miles dont allow me the same range of motion as when I was younger. I have known about Eric at Gulfport garage for many years, so I figured I would give him a try. The first car I took to him was a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoner (the blue rhino) with a persistent transmission leak. Im pretty picky about my cars and who I let work on them. I feel comfortable with Eric, knowing he will do the right thing.Thanks

Eric the owner and his crew of mechanics at Gulfport Garage are very knowledgeable, trustworthy & extremely fair on pricing. They replaced the timing chains in my VW Jetta for $1,200 cheaper than the dealer. They did a great job. Eric also installed 2 parts that needed replacing, I purchased. He informed me while replacing the timing chains he would have easy access and installed free of charge after quoting the timing chains. HIGHLY RECOMENDED

The best garage in Tampa Bay, no one else comes close.

Not trustworthy. Rip off. Went for simple brake pads, but told that I needed pads, new calipers, brake lines, and rotors honed... $700. Just over year later, caliper froze. Told caliper sometimes goes bad in one year even though the original ones lasted 8 years. They said caliper out of 1 yr warrantee and changed me $200. Now a year later the rotors are warped again, shaking when braking. I spent total of $900, for a simple brake job, and I doubt the calipers were replaced the first time, and was charged a year later to replace it. I will never use them again. They should have replaced the caliper for free, and not lied about the previous replacement or installation of a refurbished faulty caliper.
