Cannot say enough about the friendly & Knowledgeable Staff!! If you live in the area, its a great place for any household and jobsite needs!!
The key guy was very informative. The cashier was not as.polite initially. There were.other.people around to help.
Classic independent hardware store. Recommended!
If your time is valuable and you appreciate immediate expert assistance, quality merchandise and people who answer the phone and all of your questions; then this is your place. If you want to stumble around an understaffed big box hardware store seeking an inexperienced clerk who doesnt know where to find things, endure sorting through damaged merchandise, and be endlessly on hold during unanswered phone calls; then this is not your place.
Excellent customer service. They always go out of their way to make sure that their customers are happy
Woman was helpful but guy behind counter a tad condescending. I understand it’s a busy day but give people some benefit of the doubt.Update: after talking to a manager they assured me that steps would be taken to address what happened. Thank you!
Everyone there is polite, and willing to help you find what your looking for.
Very knowledgeable staff. Good on the details. This is the place to go.
Great service always have exactly what I need
I stopped in and was greeted at the door by an older fella. His greeting was a blunt “do you know what you need?”. Not hello or anything, just that. I told him the basic overview of what I was there for and he started to turn around like he was going to walk away so I asked him if he could show me where it was, he started walking so I assumed I should follow. As we got to the area they were, he asked if I knew what size I needed and I confidently told him, what I thought was, the exact size. He asked crankily if I had the old one and I told him I didn’t know that there were that many options beyond the info I told him. He looked at me like I had just told him that I never noticed that the sky was blue and the grass was green. He showed me the options, I immediately recognized what I was looking for and he walked off without another word. Apparently, I’m the only person that isn’t handy in home maintenance in this town. I gave a two star review because they had what I was looking for. If they didn’t have it, I would have only given one.
This local hardware store is excellent! Ive never had one bad experience in my entire time shopping here. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The products and prices are good (unlike some other locally owned stores that are over priced). The products they have in stock seem endless, especially if youre looking for an odd item or need to repair something from a home built almost 100 years ago. Theyve always had the oddball hardware Ive needed for my old homes, and the items were always in stock. And who doesnt love supporting your local businesses and possibly spotting the cutest dogs while shopping. Also, the staff has gone out of their way for me on several occasions when I had an odd situation in need of repair. Apologies for the very long review, but I cant thank Grosse Pointe Hardware enough for the help Ive received each time I walk through that door. 5 stars, always!
After installing carpet in finished basement, a door needed to be cut to open and close properly. Pointe Hardware polite staffc tookotook care of it in minutes. The price was very responsible, fee starting at $12 bucks. Thanks Pointe Hardware 👍
Stopped in to get a few copies of some keys made - it was fast an inexpensive and the staff was very friendly. Id definitely come here again!
Organized, helpful & knowledgeable staff.
Nice staff, firewood pops well.
Most friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I couldnt ask for a better neighborhood hardware and lumber.
Love my neighborhood hardware store. I’m not handy with tools, but luckily for me the staff in Pointe Hardware is always willing and happy to help me with my projects! Today it was my antique sewing machine. I lost the wing nuts! The staff took the time to help me find just the right size for my sewing machine. Thank you Pointe Hardware for your caring and help! Please support your neighborhood store by giving them your business! They are there for you when you need personalized help, in a way you can’t get from big-chain stores.
Last of its kind. A real hardware store with knowledgeable staff!
High level of service whether you are a contractor or you need advice on what type of nail or screw to use. For someone like myself who has little mechanical know how, I love to go there for direction and advice. Since our area predominantly has homes that were built in the 1920s, they are well supplied with the materials necessary to revitalize these type of homes.I just dropped off screens to be repaired and had some glass cut for 1950s era recessed lighting.
There is no better hardware store in the local area. They have great employees who know what theyre talking about, can provide guidance and know where things are in the store. Their selection of materials is very deep and they also have a great lumber area in the back and can cut pieces to size. If you want what you need and someone to help you, go to Pointe. Its a little more expensive than the big box warehouse stores, but the service and convenience more than makes up for it.
The owner of this store was extremely rude and abrasive. Definitely not what is expected from a mom and pop shop. There are plenty of other hardware stores around here, with better customer service and prices. I highly recommend against giving them any business.
Excellent service
We are remodeling our Waterfront property. I have been lucky enough to find some products that we needed forgoing a trip to the nearest Home Depot and some of the tax money stays where I live. I have never had a problem with any employee at Pointe Hardware until yesterday. All I needed was an aerator for a faucet. I was greeted by a young lady who was courteous, kind and polite but it was obvious she was a new hire and didnt know where anything was thus she asked a this middle aged woman who was supposed to help me. Just to let you know I had researched what I needed online and confirmed Home Depots app had the item, cost $4.00 and even what aisle and bay to find in.Well this knowledgeable employee first looked me up and down and I could tell immediately that she didnt approve. Maybe because I had on soiled work clothing from working in the yard and on the house yesterday. Anyway, she promptly told me that what I was looking for was not made separately and even though I had the original part, she has been there for over 20 years and, she refused to even try to find or locate the part I needed. I also needed 2 screws, she said well you can look up in the front of the store but you probably wont find what you need. I did look where she directed me and I did find what I needed without her.Im African American, and Im not playing a race card here but in todays retail economy with a small Mom and Pop store competing against the Big Box retailers, its hard, these big stores have put a lot of neighborhood stores out of business because they get huge discounts from their bulk purchases, while the little guys cant compete. You have to earn the respect of every dollar from a paying customer that comes in your door and the way I was treated by this woman was a huge disappointment and a firm reason of not wanting to shop there anymore. Ill just make the long drive to Home Depot, Lowes or even Menards before I let anyone treat me like that. I maintained my demeanor and I told this woman that I was going to Home Depot, She said why would go there and spend God knows how much for something when you could get the whole part. that response made no sense to me. I went to Home Depot it cost me $4.00 problem solved, I would have purchased from Pointe if she would have helped me.
This place is super refreshing! Customer service was EXCELLENT! Just went here with my girlfriend and our dogs (porkchop and bug) We were warmly greeted and they loved our dogs and rocky was a super sweet boy! Everyone here was super kind and extremely helpful and informative. Will most certainly be using them in the future! Thank you all!
If you like being helped go here. Best customer service and the employees are good with advice if asked. Quality products and they have friendly / cute store dogs!!
I have been using Pointe Hardware, or as I like to call it, Pointe University, for more than 20 years. It and the people that work there are fantastic. They carry almost everything, and if they dont have it, they can either get it for you or let you know where to get it. Everyone is helpful, kind, and funny. If you are unsure on how to do something, they can explain it to you. They have walked/talked me through many, many repairs. And I always ask them for references for repairmen, and it has always turned out well. Pointe Hardware is fantastic.Truly,Marlene
I absolutely LOVE this place........such a game saver for Our community
That awkward moment when Clint Eastwood comes walking in the door
Love this place! The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly! They can counsel on a project and make recommendations and suggestions. They save me every time! And they have sweet dogs too 😁
Great hardware store and super helpful staff!
Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Never in a rush with customers.
A fantastic hardware store. The staff is very helpful - particularly with older homes. (Mine was built in 1941). Have all the things youd hope a hardware store would have, including parts and fantastic advice. I echo Jimmy Rossows review.
Came in asking for 20-Amp weather resistant GFCI receptacle for a kitchen. They only have tamper resistant receptacles, which is almost as good except in a WR receptacle, the plastic is more robust and the metal parts are coated to resist corrosion caused by moisture. Corrosion can cause a failure of the receptacle. The person helping me interrupted me to tell me that I need an in-use cover to make a receptacle Weather Resistant when really I just needed help to find a WR-rated receptacle and I dont need an in-use cover for indoor use.Do not come in here unless you know exactly what you want or you will walk out with stuff you dont need. There was this other time I bought treated lumber, had them load it in the truck, and got home to discover it was untreated.
The employees in this store are extremely racist. This is my local hardware store and the few times I’ve been in no greeting for me but you can hear them greeting “others” then you get the following around but not asking if they can help in anyway just a very uncomfortable situation to be in and for minorities I would advice not going unless you have no other options and be prepared for the worst.
This is the hospital for my old house (1936). Ive been coming here for over three decades, and it is very rare to have some ancient fixture they cannot repair or replace. Great place to replace!
They are nice and helpful until you bring something back to return it...Before the woman at the counter even looked at my receipt she had a flippant attitude and insisted my items werent from the pointe hardware and lumber because they didnt display their price tag. A return should be predicated on a sales receipt... not a measly price sticker that certainly holds no validity. She just had a poor, combative, paranoid and slightly emotionally unstable disposition to my return for no reason. I was polite and easy going about the entire thing. For a customer who spends minimum a couple hundred bucks in Randy Cousineaus store every month you dont expect to be treated so poorly as if I were trying to steal from them. Youd think theyd stick her way in the back somewhere away from customers.Very strange
Have been going here for years for projects. The staff are fantastic and always helpful when it comes to me asking questions about anything. They are very knowledgeable and quick to help out.
Super friendly, neighborhood hardware store !! The staff is very knowledgeable, and theyve packed more in a small space than youd expect !!
Quick, super helpful, the best neighborhood hardware store.
I was about to buy a whole piece of plywood and cut it down to small pieces that I needed. They found scrap pieces for me and made all of my cuts for an astronomically lower price than I had expected. Awesome service!
Great old style local hardware. They have people to help you and every time I have price compared, they are competitive with HD prices.
Nice store
This is a real hardware store. Dont even bother with Ace Hardware on Mack. Helpful, informed employees and owners; well-stocked shelves.Owners have a reasonable returns policy. The machine shop/carpentry in the back does custom wood and metal work. Dont bother trying to save a few cents by going to Lowes or Home Depot at Eastland Mall. Youll spend more in gasoline & wear and tear on your car than you will save by going to Big Box store instead of Pointe Hardware.Free parking 1/4 block away.Limited free parking at the store.
Always helpful, but I missed Clint Eastwood again
Someone always there to greet you at the door. Very knowledgeable people and almost always have what you are looking for, including those hard to find items for old homes.
Went the worker gave me wrong part I returned it the guy at counter talk to me like I was dumb because I asked him a question ..poor service I own a company go there every day never again .Added Then they left my company a 1 star after I gave them review. Very unprofessional .
Prices are not right on items and lead to a false sense of what the prices are. Will not honor the price on said item which is false advertising. My cashier diane was rude and rolled her eyes at me when I explained that the price showen should be the price Im paying you guys made the mistake not me.
Love this store! Very helpful staff and decent prices too!
Theyve got everything you need here and the people working there are some of the nicest that you will ever meet!
Have everything Ive needed and a great staff.
Excellent service and very knowledgeable. Love everything about the store
This place is great, a true old fashioned hardware store. They have everything and are so helpful.
Took my vacuum to get the cord fixed and went back a week later and they didnt even start on it. I asked for an estimate and the service guy gave me a blank stare and said I dont know. I guess I was supposed to leave it there until 2019. Took back the vacuum, got a refund and expressed my concern about how rude I was serviced. The cashier rushed to give me my money back to rush me out of the store. When I went outside and was getting in my car the cashier ran up behind me and grabbed my bag and snatched something off the bag with the vacuum in it and said This is ours. I told him to get away from me and get his ass back in the store. They are very rude and I dont recommend this store to anyone. They cant even replace a cord - terrible service.
I can not say enough great things about this store! You will find everything that Home depot dose not have even though its a 1/10 of their size. the staff and owners know how to do just about everything and will be able to save you time and money if you bring pictures or know exactly what you are trying to fix. they specialize in having those hard to find items that many of the older homes around the area need. As for some of the bad reviews, I believe they most likely came in asking for help fixing this doodad or that whachmacallit and they get frustrated bc the staff cant help you fix something they are not certain about what it is or the right brand and model. But you dont need to know the proper terms, just take a lot of pictures if you dont know and I promise you will be delighted how fast they will solve your problem. This store is the last of its kind, and has more cumultive knowledge than all the Aces, Home depots, and Lowes combined!
Best hardware store in the area because of the helpful staff
Found their prices on select hardware items much higher than nearby hardware stores such as Gilberts Hardware on Harper between 8 and 9 mile rd. Also, the staff at Gilberts were more pleasant to deal with.
Well stocked shelves & highly knowledgeable staff!
Good advice, very helpful with good prices.
Always helpful and friendly I love having this place.
I love hardware stores and this is one of the best I found in recant years. And, its Klint Eastwoods favorite hardware store....
Excellent neighborhood hardware store
A neighborhood institution. Unmatched experience and customer service.
Great staff; friendly and helpful in person and on the phone.
Excellent store with outstanding staff.
Sold me spray paint that did not work. Can would not spray. They were not friendly with me when I tried to return.
If you have a house built before 1950, this is the place to go for hard to find items. Service is excellent; always friendly and very knowledgable about problems unique to old homes.
They was VERY HELPFUL and nice to work with,
Very convenient and pleasant staff!
Great price for what I needed
Absolutely the best, most knowedgeable staff anywhere!!!
Love the store, service and dog.
Knowledgeable and very helpful.
This is your grandfathers hardware store with everything you cant find at Home Depot or Lowes.
