So thankful that I chose to have The Sewing Lady hem (over 6 inches!) and bustle my dress! They worked with my tight timeline and made the process painless! Excited to have my dress cleaned and preserved by them as well.

Nothing I say can describe how incredibly blessed I am to have found The Sewing Lady! I was on the verge of having to find a new dress because my dress was ruined by another seamstress. I came in to The Sewing Lady and they were able to to completely fix my wedding dress!!! Also, ALL THE LADIES THAT WORK HERE ARE SUPER AMAZING AND SO INCREDIBLY SWEET!!!! to everyone that has helped me I just want to say THANK YOU and thank you for saving my wedding. Yall are just the best!!To anyone reading this if you are questioning whether or not you should come here for alterations or just whatever the answer is YES!!!

Using The Sewing Lady has been my biggest regret while planning my wedding. I brought my wedding dress to them in April (my wedding is in October) and paid $900 for all of the changes I needed. I had a total of 8 appointments with them. Most of my appointments lasted 10-15 minutes and there were rarely any changed to my dress between each appointment. The seamstress, Diane, told me 4 months into this process that I would not be able to lift my arms at my wedding after she added sleeves to my dress (she knew I wanted sleeves since my first appointment in April) and when I voiced my concerns and said that I was stressed, another employee said “yeah, we know how you brides are“. Also, I would point out problems with my dress and Diane would act like it wasn’t an issue (example: I pointed out that my sleeve was laying twisted and she just turned it back straight and said “there. It’s straight now”). My dress ended up not being done until 6 days before my wedding and that was only because I had to argue for a earlier appointment. They wanted my last appointment to be 3 days before my wedding when I wasn’t even sure if everything would be fixed by then. The staff was very unprofessional and had zero regard for how I felt. I would not recommend The Sewing Lady to anyone.

Every single employee at the Sewing Lady was super friendly. I was greeted immediately upon walking in, each & every time. I never had to wait. The seamstress was always there to pin my dress as soon as I walked out of the fitting room, at each of my fitting appointments. I bought a dress 1 to 2 sizes too big and she made it fit me like a glove. Highly recommend The Sewing Lady.

Was looking for 2 bridesmaid dresses, had already been 2 other places and by chance we found this wonderful shop!!! The service was extraordinary and the dresses are beautiful with great prices!! I had THE best experience here! Everyone made me feel so special for my big day! They took their time and asked me about what my wants were and my dress came out stunning! First of all, Im not one for reviews but this has got to be made known. If negative stars was an option, that would be my rating.My best friend and I went down for her first visit for alterations, and the whole experience was terrible. Not only was the seamstress rude, she rushed the whole process- but before she even looked at the dress she was tossing numbers in not only my best friends face but also mine. I tried to reason with the situation, as there were other brides in doing an array of things, and overall lots of commotion- BUT lets take some pride in our service just a little. Fast forward a month and a half, on a less busy day, and no change in service. I would actually go so far as to say it was even worse than the first experience. Not only was the seamstress rude yet again, my best friend didnt even get a chance to see her dress on in a mirror. This is quite literally the biggest day of my best friends life. You know, only the one thing that every little girl dreams about- and this woman has taken it upon herself to ruin that excitement. Please avoid this place, your big day will not be all that you hoped for especially if the key part (THE DRESS) is rushed through and youre made to feel body shamed on top of it.

I purchased my dress from another shop, but was unsure about the fit and style. So I went in to look at other options, but also took my dress with me. They took the time to get me in my dress and figure out how to make me say yes to the dress again. I felt no pressure from the staff to purchase one of their gowns. The store was busy with other brides, but they took the time to make me feel special. They are doing the alterations for me, and were very helpful.

We were trying to find the perfect dress for my Daughters wedding and the Sewing Lady went above and beyond to help us find one. Im so glad we found her! The entire staff was helpful anytime we called...they even stayed late one night to make sure we were all happy with our fittings. I have a younger Daughter and we will be using them for her Prom and Im sure another wedding one day!

I am a cancer patient whom was having a rough past 7 months. My 17 year old was trying to prepare for her first prom while I was extremely ill. She was referred to this place thru a friend. My health has come back and this past weekend was her prom. As I steamed her dress I found several issues. The length was taken up in the front so she wouldnt step on it while walking. As the new hem met the orginal hem in the back the material folded over and it was sewn with a fold. Where the darts where placed in the front at the waist, the material was already frayed. I had my daughter add a quarter inch sparkle belt to the waist. This should have only been attached to the front of the dress, because its an open back dress. However, it was added and ribbon was added to tie it around her back. This ribbon was not equal lengths, and once tied and trimmed we then had a bow that looked like it should have been in a little girls hair. And after wearing the dress for 5 hours the belt has already started to fall off the dress! Im so disappointed in the cost of alterations and the quality of work she got!! I dont care how sick I am next time MOM WILL BE THERE!! I will never recommend this place to anyone!!

My husband and I went looking through the shop to kill time before hair appointment. The first two people who greeted us was a younger lady with brown hair and then slightly older lady with brown hair they were both very pleasant and try to be helpful. The issue lies with the older lady. She was absolutely condescending and absolutely rude. She approached my husband and berated him because they don’t get man in the store very often. Then she proceeded to accuse him of trying to buy her gowns that are cheap to open his own boutique. I do not recommend she is rude and all of her gowns I have literally found on eBay for a fraction of the price I will never shop there

The sewing lady helped my bridesmaid dress for my sister’s wedding fit great! when I got the dress it was way too long and did not fit at all and she magically made it fit like a glove. Everyone was super helpful and gave great customer service. They went out of their way to make sure I was 100% satisfied before the big day and were very efficient. I also love that through the pandemic they were able to provide people with fashionable, yet effective masks! I recommend her to everyone and now only go to her for all of my family’s alteration needs.

I was looking forward to coming here based off reviews but ended up having a terrible experience. The selection was not great especially for plus sizes. I am a size 16 and when asked about my size they showed me one rack and stated I could not look at any other racks because I needed to stay in the “curvy bride” section and that I needed to look at at least 4-6 sizes up from my normal size. But they only pulled dresses that were sizes 24 and they were huge on me. The fitting rooms were separated by sheets and the consultant assigned to me was very rude and body shaming when she was around. I left feeling awful and very discouraged. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Always helpful an will answer my many questions of my daughters wedding. Goes the extra mile an if they dont have it they will strike e to get it. Thank you for all your help I totally recommend this place to anyone.

Seriously one of the wildest experiences?!? Worst customer service. Went in late June for flower girl dress. Wedding in October (first weekend, 10/3) My flower girl loved the idea of getting to “build her own” we tried on the exact dress she wanted there. Added a belt. It was so beautiful and what she wanted! They said they had to recreate because they couldn’t have her take that exact dress. We paid in advance because we were sure. She said we could do a fitting in a few weeks- all parties decided to wait until 2 months before due to her in a growth spurt. Came to our 1st fitting expecting the dress to be complete- driving from out of town. They took her measurements the first try on. The dress was NOT in her measurements it was still 4 sizes too large. It didn’t have the tulle on it they just stitched the belt on the front not in the back. They scheduled another appointment for a month later (1st week of September) and we understood because things happen- no biggie. Week of the apt. I called to make sure it would be done this time- they said yes- then call the next day to say no and cancelled the apt on me. I had an apt the next week given it would be done (3 weeks before the wedding). Then they called again to cancel that apt.(the 3rd apt now!) And change it to 2 weeks before the wedding because they simply didn’t have time to do her dress (which was ordered WAY ahead of time). I was beyond frustrated at this point. We were just under a month from the wedding and they kept cancelling on me. I didn’t want to wait till 2 weeks before to get her first actual try on- what if it needed a change again?? I expressed this and they said and I quote, “it is what it is”. We didn’t want the order cancelled because my flower girl (my little sister) wanted it and she is picky about clothes and we both liked it. I like amazed at how rude they were on the phone. The receptionist/desk worker actually called me back after I spoke to the main lady apologizing for how rudely they other gal treated me. The next day the main owner lady called me back (3 weeks before the wedding at this point) and totally cancelled my order even though we wanted it. She said “what you want we don’t have time for”. Even though I came in WAY early for what I needed to. Literally cancelled the order ON ME! When I said “what do you expect me to do at this point” her response, “oh honey- just go to David’s bridal and buy a take home dress”followed by “you know your wedding won’t be prefect right?” Why would you tell a bride that?? I know it won’t be but what type of vendor are you?? I didn’t expect for perfection and I felt like I rolled with their mistakes rather gracefully up until the last cancel. Nothing against David’s bridal because we were able to find something but ?????? What an awful manner to have with a customer. I was not happy and neither was my mom with the lack of respect, rudeness and how the owner had no care about what happened with my order🥴I read reviews that didn’t give the best reviews on Yelp before and I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED!! I thought well- she likes it.. They were nice at a bridal show so it must be okay?? Ladies STAY CLEAR! Take your business elsewhere. I wouldn’t trust or recommend them EVER!!!!!

Loved the atmosphere... relaxed, friendly and helpful... but not too helpful. 😉 The perfect place for me to be able to find my dress. I had my appointment and I could browse their selection without someone hovering over me the whole time... which was super helpful since I really wasn’t sure what I was looking for. I never felt rushed (something I had experienced in other bridal shops) and I was able to try on a lot of dresses. My dress was $300 and then with the in-house alterations it came to $535.Another thing... I was only in town for a few days and they got it altered before I had to leave.Thank you, ladies for a wonderful experience!

I had a five star experience with the sewing lady all around. i decided to go with the sewing lady for my wedding dress alterations, and she did not disappoint! i had several appointments and she really put the care into making sure my dress not only fit me correctly, BUT fit me the way that i wanted it to.on another note my dress was a few sizes too big to a point i was worried it wasn’t going to be able to be fixed but she seemed to do it with ease! i will definitely be booking any future alterations with her as well☺️

Such a great shop! I have a very old blanket that my son sleeps with and cannot sleep without. It was old and frayed and starting to lose stuffing. Diana truly brought this blanket back to its original state and did it so quickly that my son did not have to go a day without it. Such a huge help!

Great service. Decent selection. The more affordable stuff isnt plus sized. A lot of accessories priced like new so not much savings there. I was able to get my alterations done at 200 less than quoted here so if your alterations are simple look around. Fantastic flower girl dresses. They will alter anything and completely change the look for you to customize.

This was the worst experience my family and I have ever had. They had a week to get my dads suit ready. They said they would have it ready by Wednesday and when we he got there (drove 45 min) it wasnt. They rushed and did it overnight to have it ready the next day. The work was awful. Low quality suit all around. You can see where they put in the pins. Do not go here.

I really like the store, the owner and her granddaughter were very helpful and welcoming.

When my fiancé I walked in it took a moment to be greeted even though we made eye contact with the person working there. Once approached the woman asked how can i help you in a very dry way, which i understand we all have our days but it was the body language in which she displayed towards us that i later noticed she didnt do to other customers of a fair complexion. Also, the woman who initially set up my appointment wasnt even there. I was then shown a room where the sewing lady was seated. I greeted her and then told her the situation. she then replied do you have any product with you, do you have sketches i told her the employee who set up the appointment didnt tell me to bring anything though i did have photos on my phone ( never got to show her) due to the rude way she was speaking to us we were given a very quick tour of the place and rushed out. Also, on the way out the store 2 women came in who were quickly greeted and spoken to in a nice welcoming tone in which me and my fiance never received and yes these 2 women were caucasian. Honestly would never go to this place again in my life. Its not the way you do business.

Diane and her team, truly were My Fairy God Mother’s. They were so amazing and worked so hard to make my dress fit perfectly. I drove 2 hours each way to get to the shop and had 5 trips total. It was totally worth the drive and they went above and beyond to make me look perfect for my perfect day. They offer a great selection of accessories,veils, and flower girl dresses. After leaving an inquiry, I got a call back within a couple hours and was able to come in that same day. The entire team pitched in at different times to help me. The seamstress was attentive and so sweet and did an amazing job despite my wedding being a week away. She was definitely worth the price for the quality of work and I appreciate her squeezing me in on such a time crunch.

My daughter-in-law got her wedding dress here. She purchased it months in advance of the wedding (more than enough time to do alterations)After the first 4 visits, we were starting to get a little worried. Each visit we were told that certain things were going to be done for the next visit and that wasn’t the case.Finally, the day comes to pick up the dress (2 days before the wedding). The alterations were horrible. There was not one alteration that was done that was correct. Not one. The cheats area and the shoulders didn’t fit correctly. The waist and hip area were so out of whack it wasn’t funny.Needless to say, my daughter-in-law was so very disappointed. It was her dream dress and this place hacked it up completely.There way of dealing with it was to say they would give her $100 off of the cleaning after the wedding. Seriously???Please consider twice before having any alterations done here. ☹️

I cant say enough good things about The Sewing Lady. The day I visited, I was with two of my sisters. The younger one was getting married the next day, and we brought her wedding dress with us. The previous seamstress had messed up the dress and we were at a total loss as to what to do...talk about a fiasco!! Our seamstress here was Donna, and she was amazing! The owner graciously gave us a discount on the alterations, and Donna got right to work. She was so calm and kind. In a few hours she had repaired what the previous seamstress had messed up and made it 100% better..and this was not an easy job in the least. The whole staff was very gracious and accommodating. I give them 10 stars! 😄

I was given her information from the place I bought my dress and she did not disappoint!! They were fairly priced and did an unbelievable job on my dress!! I had so much fun at my wedding that I ended up ripping my dress in a couple of place and they fixed those after the wedding for a very fair price and it looked like it never happened! They dry cleaned it and preserved it for me. I can not say enough good things about these ladies. From the alterations to the bustle I was amazed and how perfect they made it all look!! I even traveled from the north side about 40 minutes to use them and well worth the commute!! Highly highly recommend for any bride!

I volunteered at a wedding event years ago when this shop just opened and they were wonderful. Since then I just now needed a very simple hem on a little summer dress. So I decided Id go there to support local. They have grown immensely since my first interaction. This experience everyone was just ok. Not overly friendly and the cost for my simple hem was the cost of the dress $60. Never in my life have I heard such a ridiculous price for a simple dress hem and I worked high end boutiques setting people up for hems constantly. However I needed the dress done quick and didnt have time to go anywhere else so they got my first and last business. The hem was done well but the lack of friendliness and the insane hem price has cost them a customer for life. Glad I know now before I start my wedding dress shopping 🤗

I had an incredible experience here. When I bought my wedding dress in December, it fit perfectly. Well, being silly, I lifted weights to help lose weight but ended up gaining back muscle!!! I went in 4 days before my wedding (February) to add breast cups and when she (the owner) had me try on my dress, I COULDNT ZIP IT UP! Panicking and crying, she calmed me down and said, I will fix this. It will be perfect for your wedding. Well, 2 days later when I picked it up, she let the sides out just a little (couldnt tell at all!) and it zipped perfectly. The price, $125. She saved my wedding day. I appreciate her kindness and expert sewing skills!!!

I went in to look at veils in February of 2019.. they were going to custom make my veil...about 4 months later I get a call saying weve misplaced the lace for your veil and I needed to return to reselect...2 weeks before my wedding I call to see if veil is done, get told almost. 5 days before my wedding I finally pick it up! My wedding was 9/22!!

I just love The Sewing Lady! She did an amazing job of making the dream dress come true. The staff is warm and welcoming and my alterations were done well and on time, so I’d say she’s well worth the money!

I got so many compliments on my dress and the fit! You may pay a little more here but they are 100% worth it. These women who work here are not very nice at all. Not a day went by that I did not worry about my wedding dress when it was in their hands. I went to them as suggested from the boutique I bought my wedding dress, they did not do alterations. They make you pay in advance for the work they do (Nearly 400 dollars for a bustle, tack on a belt, and take in on the top some). The stress youre under as a bride, your dress should be perfect and this is the one thing I wanted perfect. When I got my dress, I didnt even want to face them, because the last time I tried it on, I knew my belt was slanted on my dress (which I asked for them to pin but they wouldnt for some reason and her excuse was Honey, I have been doing this for 45 years). So, I asked for my dress and left and immediately went to another shop. After they laughed at the dress and got over the initial shock, one of my breasts were bigger than the other (she took in the fabric in the wrong area and they were repeating OMG as I cried about my dress, the belt was slanted and we could not figure out the bustle (yes, even another seamstress did not understand her bustle, so how am I too on my wedding day). For the first time, I absolutely hated my wedding dress after she put her hands on it. It only cost me 150 to redo the entire dress, but being new to this bridal thing, when she told me oh well its wedding season I thought that it was going to cost that much everywhere. Recently called the boutique to let them know as well, and they stated they have also been getting some complaints as well. Just because someone does something for 45 years, does not mean they do it perfect. All in all, I would avoid this place if all possible!!!!

Paid $257. For a corset to put into prom dress. The corset ribbon that put was cheap ribbon (very thin) and starting fraying as they started tying the corset together. We giving same type of thin ribbon to replace it. Last year prom dress was corset also with very thick material for the ribbon. I just assumed that all corset would be made of strong material. So off to another sewing company to make strong ribbon. Wish I could show pictures.

Had an Appointment here to get my wedding dress altered. When I walked in I was kinda being ignored. Eventually someone came and told me that there is the changing room and I can get dressed. So I got dresses as good as I could. I stepped out of the changing room and was standing there for like 5 min until someone came. Everyone was sewing and no one seemed to care about the customers. I then was handed a paper to fill it out with my information. Now the seamstress came and looked at my dress. She said she would need to add two new panels on either side . I told her the dress can be zipped and if she could please do that. She told me there is no way it can be zipped. (I had it zipped 2 times within the last 3 weeks and just need about half an inch taken out on either side so I can breath easier) She even showed me in the mirror and then did not listen to me anymore. She went away to talk with one of her employees to then give me a quote. The quote was about $600 but it also could be more, they told me. I then got changed again and left the store.While I was there another girl got kicked out of the changing room as there were other customers waiting and she wasnt fast enough.I went to a different seamstress 3 days later. She magically was able to zip the dress and then took a look on what needs to be done. Now I am paying $135 and I am getting additional things (buttoning up my train, fixing the belt) done that the Sewing Lady did not care to listen to my other requests. I would not recommend for anyone going. It seems like a major money grab.

Hands down the worst experience of the wedding process. I took my dress in and was told, while they cant promise anything, my dress would only need three appointments. They were suppose to add a four button bustle, add cups, take in a little under the hips. Instead, so much was taken in at the bust (which wasnt suppose to be altered) that I couldnt comfortably fit in my dress and they refused to fix it. Instead, I was told to come in for a follow up appointment. At first they refused to fix it, then they said they did, then they admitted to lying about fixing it before they finally did. It took 6 appointments and a lot of unnecessary stress before I could finally take my dress home.

We use the Sewing Lady for all our specialty uniform needs for our Mobile Bartending Business. She takes great care in selecting materials and making quality vests! We love her!

25 bucks to raise the hem on a casual mens shirt. Either theyre stoned, or the only want wedding dress business. If thats the case, just say so to your potential clients when they inquire and dont waste their time.

This has been a very hard review to write. At the end of this horrible experience I was happy with how my dress looked.....so let’s start at the very beginning. They told me I didn’t need a hem and that it needed taken in a little in the bust. They also added cups and a bustle. The price would be around $400 which I thought was not to bad because I had a lot of beading. Well when I went to try my dress back on it wouldn’t zip. They took it in to much. So I went back again and it still didn’t fit. Then my grandmother says to the sewing lady that I needed a hem as well because I was walking on the dress. The sewing lady acted surprised and said oh yeah she does..... so then she charged me more for the hem. Which now put my total over $400.So I go back again. The dress still didn’t fit and they never touched the hem!!! So I decided to call Sophia’s bridal where I purchased the dress and they recommended the sewing lady and told them what was going on. I wanted them to re measure me because I was thinking maybe it was my fault my dress wasn’t fitting.Sophia’s bridal called the sewing lady and had her meet me at Sophia’s to try and get everything sorted out. Well I was still the same measurements so it wasn’t my fault the dress wasn’t fitting. Sophia’s bridal told her that the dress needed to be fixed. We all came to the conclusion I needed a lace up back. Well of course then that was going to cost me more to do....... Which I didn’t have. I was extremely blessed that I purchased my dress at Sophia’s Bridal because they payed for it to be fixed. I can not say enough nice things about Sophia’s Bridal and highly reccomend them!So now we are at the next fitting and it is the week of the wedding. The dress fit perfectly, but the hem was still not done. They promised it would be by my wedding day.Fast forward to the day off. My dress was not still not hemmed and I was walking all over it! My sister had to safety pin my dress because I was tripping all over it. If you do decide to use her make sure you don’t walk out of that store until you know your dress is done properly!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful place! I was initially overwhelmed while searching for an alterations business for my wedding dress. The sewing lady was my 5th or 6th inquiry and she completely had me hooked from the get go- I had concerns about my slip and bustle and she explained some things over the phone she could offer. Her experience gives her the ability to truly give you the best options for your fit, what youre wanting, and the bustle. Herself, her daughter, and her staff are all so kind and truly care about your dress and your big day.

The sewing lady does absolutely amazing on all of my apteraalter I bring to her as well as giving me a great turn around time, I would highly recommend her, she does not disappoint! 😊

Wouldnt give them 1 star if I didnt have too. They were GREAT when I first came in. New to this wedding stuff and no idea how much alterations typically cost, I was qoutwd around 500 for bustle, hem, and one inch taken in the bust. After pinning and leaving. I called 4 or 5 other places and they all said that I was being ripped. When I came back into the store the same day to tell them i was looking for a cheaper place, the immediately got am attitude and charged be 35 for a pin up fee. But when I checked my bank that night they had actually charged me 45! Long story short, I ended up at Sues Alterations and she did an AMAZING job. (:
