Luke is the man! Built me one hell of a mazdaspeed disi engine. Darton wet sleeves, Manley turbotuff I beam rods and pistons, freektune head studs. I highly recommend P&R.
These people are extremely rude. Run away from a shop that treats you like dirt.
Wow is all I can say. I dropped my series 60 block off to have it machined after my local shop closed up unexpectedly. They did the engine to spec, but before I left when I dropped it off I gave a specific request that I wanted to counterbores cut to leave the liners .004-.005 above the deck. The spec is .0005-.003, our experience in building horsepower in these engines is that .004-.005 is better for the additional fuel and air added to the cylinders. Neil called me AFTER all the work was done to ask questions about my request, I told him I gave him incorrect specs for an older engine, then he proceeded to tell me he cut them for .003-.004 above, certainly not what I requested. Last time I checked, you call the customer BEFORE you do the work if he/she has requests. If they are out of the normal then you can discuss that, you dont do the work and then tell them you did it the way they wanted. When I picked the block up, due to a bad experience with another machine shop I wanted to double check the liner protrusion, Neil and Luke both flew off the handle. I was cussed at and called names I cant repeat on google, in Neils words, keep the F-ckin head in the pickup, cause we aint doing it! I had a cylinder head that needed done also and was dropping it off. Their work is good and was done way ahead of the suggested time frame, but their public relations suck. I dont know how anyone can stay in business this long treating customers like they did. Maybe they are having a bad day, or bad year, or bad decade, but Id suggest going elsewhere unless you wanna be dictated to.Edit: In response to their rebuttal. I did in fact ASK if we could sink a liner to double check the protrusion, no lie there. I didnt refuse to pay, I did show up at lunch time which I did in fact ask if theyd like me to come back at 12:30. All they had to say was yes please, but I sense the word please doesnt exist in their vocabulary. Their hours are 7-4 or 7-5 I believe, so anytime between them hours besides 12-1230 they are available. I admit I did not check the time, I just pulled in and went inside. No harm. I admit to giving the wrong specs. But when a customer gives a request I still believe the shop should contact that customer before performing the work and ask, what exactly are you wanting or I see a note about the specs, those are wrong but what are you trying to achieve? I can sense from their rebuttal that they are truly trying to save face. Bottom line, they are ignorant, do good work, but ignorance dont pay the bills forever. I never asked to cut open the pallet, Neil asked why dont we just let ya come in and run the machines too. Once loaded, Neils response, there, now you can cut on it all you want. Keep up the good work down there. If this review keeps one person away, time well spent. Even if the block was wrong. I dont think Id trust them to fix it. Oh, and yes the block was cut to spec but still not what I requested.
Excellent service! Very knowledgeable. Wont go anywhere else!
Really know their stuff
Best shop around, quick turnarounds, quality work. Ya get what ya pay for!!
Fantastic service. I send anyone who needs engine machine work to these guys.
Outstanding craftsmanship. Luke takes great pride in his work, which is very hard to find. They stand by their work. Very easy to deal with and extremely reasonably priced for the work. Theyll help you every step of the way. Would recommend these guys for any build mild to wild. You will definitely find not one shop with better work or quality.Best build Ive ever had on an engine.Steve
I needed a head rebuild on my Cobalt, Luke did a phenomenal job!!! He talked me through what his entire process consisted of and quoted me a very good price for all the work he did. I will most definitely be sending all of my future work here. Above and beyond service. If youre lucky, you may get to pick his mind for some knowledge. Highly recommend getting your builds done here. Bar none the best. I got a lot of compliments on the head when I got it back, and it was nicely bagged to prevent any dirt or whatever from gathering. Phenomenal.
Had another machine shop completely screw up my engine. Luke at P&R did an amazing job fixing it and made it look brand new. Their attention to detail is probably one of the best in the industry. Even down to changing coolant plugs and oil plugs. I would recommend anyone I knew to them. Great shop!
Did not do what I asked them to at all!!!!!took heads to only have all exhaust valve seats installed and heads cut, I was told that was part of their normal recon. a scotchbrite wheel had been run over gasket surfaces cut my valves short instead of putting in seats and was told BY OWNER not to tell him how to do their job and their work does not meet my high quality standards
The rebuilding of our FORD Y BLOCK was great!
