I normally do my own auto repairs but am so glad I went with merican mufflers. They were respectful and fast and helped keep my repair cost low. I’m sure they do other car repairs well too, but if you’re having muffler/exhaust issues in particular they are experts.

The guy that answers the phone is very unprofessional and told me good luck on getting my vehicle fixed when I let him know his services were over priced and hung up in my face. Dont go here go to Salazar Mufflers 406 Ridge RD. much friendlier and 80% cheaper. These guys at Merican Muffler not hitting on nothing.

Had a leak in my exhaust system and took it to Joel, the owner. Within a short period of time the problem was accurately diagnosed and professionally fixed at a very reasonable price. Very satisfied customer!

I have taken several cars there for repairs and they ALWAYS do an excellent job. Took my Rav4 in to have the master cylinder replaced, they called and updated me on the status as they worked on it. I was not aware of how convoluted Toyota designed the brakes and the process for bleeding them, but they did their best and fixed my issues and at a price lower than the dealer. I have been pleased with the work they have done on my other cars (replaced mufflers, etc.). Normally I fix things myself, but if the job is too big, they are where I go. I have recommended them to friends.

This a real good place. They are honest about stuff and not trying to gouge people but they keep it real when something needs to be fixed. Honesty goes a long way for me so Ill be back here for all my muffler and inspection needs.

Decent work but no structured pricing. Had a bung welded on 2 different exhausts, same job and same amount of time and materials, but was $50 the first time and $65 the second time. Literally just made up the price on the spot

Should NOT have custom at all in the name. Should be Basic/regular muffler repair shop. Do not recommend for REAL custom work.

Best place hands down for any and all muffler/exhaust work. I came here after a bad experience at another place and they had to redo everything. Not only did they do the work 1000x better than the other muffler shop, but was almost $100 cheaper with an even better setup than the one I had! Im from out of town and called this place based on the reviews. I had a loose metal plate under my car. I called and they said to bring it in and they would be able to check it out this afternoon. I arrived with my car and the gentleman working asked if I had a second and he could look to see if its a quick fix. He looked at it right away and was nice enough to show me what was loose and even bring me in to explain its purpose and that I did not need to have it fixed. So he ended up not charging me for that and was honest in telling me I didnt need a new part. VERY much appreciated the prompt timing and honesty!! I would absolutely return here in the future.

Fixed a hack job muffler install for me that was done at another muffler shop. Welds, hangers, all were perfect. Best muffler shop work I’ve seen in NC triad area.

They did a fantastic job! I had them run true dual exhaust on an SXT Charger amd it sound great! Joel put it on the lift for me and it looks awesome! Professional and clean looking underneath! If u need exhaust work done Merican Muffler is the only place to go!

Mike at Merican is a craftsman and does very creative top quality work.I challenged him to develop a sport exhaust for my Porsche 911 and he exceeded my expectations. I can recommend him and the shop without any hesitation. Good guys, great work, fair prices...you cant ask for more.

This afternoon I visited Merican Muffler for the first time. I called in and spoke to Mike about a quote for the replacement of not only a muffler, but the majority of my 99 Nissans exhaust system. Mike recommended I bring the car in the same afternoon to receive the most accurate quote. After bringing my car in, I was pleased to find that more of my cars exhaust system than Id originally thought, was salvageable. Mike and Bryan, the gentleman who worked on my car, didnt just tell me what needed replacing and why, they showed me. Mike also suggested two potential plans of action, considering my financial situation; Im a student. Repairs were completed soon after and at a very reasonable price.In short: customer care and pricing at Merican Muffler were great. Id absolutely trust the men who work there to take care of my car again.

Great little place! They really helped me out when I didnt really have the money. They suggested several things and eventually they did as much as they could for me and I walked away as a very happy customer! I would definitely recommend this place!

Five stars for the work done, 2 for the service, the guy I dealt with seemed like he was having a bad day and he expressed that very clearly with his attitude towards customers. He was very short and actually pretty rude to customers coming from someone in the service industry, I wouldnt ever act that way towards a customer. But on the note of the actual work done, it was a fantastic job, great welds and a reasonable price compared to what other shops charge. The guy in the back did a great job but the service is the only reason I couldnt give five stars.

I am completely satisfied with the work that was done on my Toyota.  They took me in the shop to explain everything as they went through the job.  My only issue is the price they charged for the muffler. It was Autopart International 2103-73688. I can buy the exact muffler from Vault Automotive Systems for $147.53 but I was charged $270.55 plus tax just for the muffler.I realize nobody twisted my arm and I was out in about one hour and it looks like they did a good job mechanically. I read the great reviews on their website but my experience was not so good.I wont go back.  Just feel like I got taken for about $100.

Brought my four day old, brand new 2019 GMC Sierra SLT 6.2L in for a sound more fitting of this monster’s specs. They delivered! My truck sounds Amazing, they explained exactly what they were going to do, had me inspect what they did and their work is solid. Very friendly and knowledgeable people. Shady people, I asked for a muffler delete with pipes and exhaust tips they said $500, they said a lot of work goes into actually deleting the muffler so I did it myself, I came up there with them not knowing who I was with the muffler already deleted all they had to do was put the pipes and exhaust tips on and it was still $500.

Decided it was time to treat my 2011 Ford Ranger to a new High Performance muffler and Dual Exhaust. I looked at a few of the bigger places that advertised custom muffler, but decided to look up who the number 1 muffler shop in the area was; it didn’t take me long to see that Merican Muffler held that distinction. Took my truck up there and talked to Joel who made some recommendations and quoted a very fair price. I was back there the next week to have the work done and see some real professionals at work. The entire process was explained to me before and after it was done. The tech made his recommendations but left the choices to me. When I was called out to check the job out, it was very refreshing to see the pride he took in his work and I could see why. Everything fit like a glove and was a sight to behold. The truck looks and sounds great and the price was right at what I was quoted. This shop truly rates its number 1 standing and I recommend anyone that needs any kind of work (not just mufflers) to check this place out first, you won’t be disappointed.

Just got some custom duals, cat back, done on my Chevy S-10. These guys have great, fair pricing. The work was so good its a shame no one can see it unless its on a lift. If you have any exhaust repair needs, skip the chain muffler shops. Go to Merican Muffler, youll be glad you did.

Came in from out of town they gave me a quote to put a spin tech muffler on my truck. I decided to get the work done the price was right. John took the truck into the bay and began to work on it and as he got closer to finishing my truck he called me back to see what he had done and explain what he was doing next. John also asked for my opinion on what he did and if I think he needed to do anything else. When it was all done the price was exactly what they quoted me. The work was great, along with the customer service and environment would definitely recommended them to anyone .

I failed a yearly inspection at another shop because of a muffler leak. I read the great reviews for this shop and decided to give it a try. They were great! I took it in without an appointment as soon as they opened and they got me right in. As soon as they figured out what was wrong they called me into the car bay and showed me exactly what the problem was and told me how much it would be to fix it and how long it would take. I was out of there in under an hour! I will definitely use them again and will refer them to friends!

Ive been using these guys for 5 years or so, for just about everything from a major engine repair to inspections. Im mechanically inclined, so I can tell if someone is pulling my leg about what needs to be done. I have to live with a B-U-D-G-E-T, and theyll tell me what needs to be fixed now, and what can wait. Theyre honest and theyre prices are fair, and the work get done on time. I love them.

I went there just a few days ago to have an O2 sensor re-located. They drilled a hole and welded in the new O2 sensor piece and it looks factory. I am greatly pleased with their repair and service. Also, I had them replace my old rusty exhaust system, from engine to tail pipe, 4 years ago. Both times they have provided excellent service, and my exhaust repair has held up well for four years. Great service, and nice people!

I have been going to Merican Muffler for over almost 10 years. They are the only mechanics that are 110% honest. They always treat their customers with respect and will do anything possible to help them. They will never do what other car mechanics do...they will never try to rip anyone off or tell them services need to be done when it actually doesnt need to be done. Had a tricky problem to adjust the exhaust noise on my Dodge Challenger.Tricky because theres no way to know exactly what the modifications are going to do until after its done, and then some usually has to be re-done.Joel & John did exactly what one would hope: they were clear about what they could and could not promise, spent a substantial amount of time reviewing the various options and suggestions before doing anything or charging me anything, and then they delivered everything they promised and more.It took 2 rounds for us to get it the way I wanted it. Thats not because they did anything wrong. To the contrary, it could have taken many more tries if they hadnt been so thorough. They were fair about the price and diligent about the service and the quality of it.

Just picked up my SRT and all I can say is wow. They did a great job and every time I hit the gas it leaves a smile on my face. Brian and Joel were great to work with. Will be referring friends

We too my sons 2010 Volkswagen GTI back and forth to the dealership and another place in town because the check engine light was on. After spending almost $1600 at the dealership and having the entire exhaust welded at another place at the recommendation of the Volkswagen dealership. They finally washed their hands of our car and said they couldnt fix it. I called Merican Muffler as a last ditch effort and they found the issue in about 10 minutes, repaired it for $200 bucks and the check engine light went off and has stayed off. They know their stuff!!

I went in to get exhaust work done to my 2000 Silverado. I was looking for a bump in noise but not anything too loud as its a daily driver and sees a lot of highway use. I was sent here by another customer of theirs after I complemented him on how well his exhaust sounded.The quality of the work performed was excellent.The piping that was used was aluminized steel then mated to stainless exhaust tips all paired to a magnaflow muffler. The truck sounds mean! Exactly what I was hoping for.Bottom line, I would highly recommend these folks for your exhaust needs.

Ive had all of my exhaust in my truck done here. Great work with fair prices and they stay true to when they say the work will be done.

This is lengthy, but in short, know if you want to be taken advantage of this is the place for you.We took a 95 Honda here and said I just need this to pass inspection, and then inspect it when youre finished.They said ok, called us a day later and said $370 to fix muffler. We said go ahead assuming this had to be done to pass inspection. They then call and tell us they are slammed and wont be able to inspect car...your an inspection station??? Should have been a red flag... we said keep it until you find time. Lots of conflicting comments and info about when they would ever get around to inspecting, the next a.m. they call to say we need another $275 repair for it to pass. At this point we say forget it, well come get it. Go pick it up and not surprisingly get no paper work stating it has failed inspection.Heres the kicker, we took it to another station it passed WITH NO emission test bc its a 20 year old car....guess instead of being honest with some trusting folks it made more sense for Merican to take our $370 for something we didnt need. And I guess thats why they made up another part we needed and lied about the inspection. A shop of liars and the reason mechanics get a bad name. Ill warn everyone I know of this place.
