Check engine light came on after 10 hour road trip. Have to leave again later today. When I called they said they were too booked to work on it (a sign of a good mechanic)... :) but they would able to squeeze me in to at least check the code and tell me if I can keep going on my trip - which they did free of charge. Really nice guys. Highly recommended.

I am writing this review because I have to let everyone know how helpful and amazing the people who work here are! I live nearby and this morning my car would not start, so I called to see if I could have my car towed in. Rather than having my car towed, Matt drove to my house and found out I had a bad battery. He jump started my car so I was able to drive to Nevada City Auto Service and they replaced my battery right away. These people helped me out so much today and turned what could have been a bad day into a good day! Thank you very much Nevada City Auto Service, I will be a long time customer. I have used Nevada City Auto service for over 20 years and have always been pleased with their great work. They go out of their way to get the job done and done right. It is essential to have a dependable auto mechanic, especially with the older cars we drive and I have found that in Nevada city Auto service. Coming through Nevada City on vacation, our truck developed an electrical problem. They not only let us park our trailer in their back lot overnight, they got it in the shop at 8 a.m. the next morning, found the problem, got it fixed and had us on the road by 11 a.m. They could have sold us a replacement alternator, but found the specific part and had it repaired at an alternator shop for less than half the cost of a new alternator. Their shop is clean, all the mechanics helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone living near or passing through Nevada City/Grass Valley, CA. I live in Southern California & my single daughter lives in Nevada City. Its hard as a woman to find any mechanic shop thats going to treat you right & fair. This place has far exceeded my expectations of any auto shop. Joe has been instrumental in ensuring that my daughtersd cars will be fixed and at a very decent price. I cannot express just how much Im impressed with Nevada City Auto. Now my daughter has a go to mechanics shop to get all her cars needs met to keep her and my granddaughter safe on the road!! 🤗

For a multitude of reasons, I found out several years ago this is the best auto shop I have ever done business with.With 4 cars and several years of relying on them to find and do all the repairs, I have never been let down!All with a genuine smile on their faces as they greet you and say good bye.Old fashioned values, hard to find ANY business like this these days!

We came in with a flat tire and the steering wheel was off and asked if they could check the tire. They charged us35 dollar for putting some air in the tire and tighten the velve. 5 minutes work but they let us wait for over half an hour.We drove of and the car started shaking because the front wheels were out of line. He completely missed the fact that the wheels and steering wheel were off. We had to go to another shop to get it fixed.Go to Douglas. They are nice over there.

Wonderful people would highly recommend them for all your auto service

This shop is a joke. They have eight bays and one mechanic. The one job they did for me failed within two months. I went back to them to do another simple job (only because I wanted them to fix the problems with first job) and after driving in for my appointment, I come to find that they had never even ordered the part and they want me to come back in. Nope. There are a ton of auto shops in this area. It’s not hard to find one that will actually get the job done, and with good customer service to boot.

We were passing through and had trouble with our rear axle leaking fluid. These guys got us in right away and back on the road. Great service!
