Purchased a 1988 Suburban and was mislead; Everything from the listing write up, salesman to the video it was in good working order and went down the highway great. Well after a new engine block and $9,000.00+ later......we were took! The icing on the cake is the paperwork is garbage. Unable to title and license in state of Florida. Title is in a trust and Gateway is not providing the legal documents or a simple bill of sale. Now in the process of taking action in Dallas district court and filling a report in Florida at FHP depart vehicle fraud. Dont do it!

WARNING!!! If you buy a car from this dealership you may attract unwanted attention from women... What am I saying unless they are toothless wonder, for a late 40s guy any attention from women is awesome! Please remember most any 30+ year old car for under 20k will not be perfect. This one has its issues but the experience was great! BUY YOUR teenage dream car now. Life is too short to drive around in a mini van or a wannabe SUV

Very friendly staff, and knowledgeable, they told me what to expect for my 1984 El Camino. I wanted more for the car and listed for a 1000 over their suggestion. The car didn’t sell the first 90 days and they suggested come down 1000, and within two weeks they sold the car. They took care of the car at their warehouse and I had no worries, I could check out the car anytime I wanted to. I recommend this place and everyone is very professional and courteous there...

Mr. Steve West went above and beyond the call of duty for me and my family. Due to health reasons and financial woes I had to sell my Chevelle and I was under time constraints. I realized this was a push him and Joshua Githens were very fair with me and Thankfully the car sold and I was able to pick up a check with the amount we agreed upon. I HIGHLY recommend Gateway in Grapevine for buying or selling your classic car. It totally takes the stress out of dealing with the unknowns! Thanks Gentlemen!!

Purchased this beautiful 65 recently from Gateway Dallas. The wiring is a mess and when removing lower body plugs I noticed rust shown in picture. There is more rust. I have no Idea how Gateway had car inspected seeing that turn signals did not work properly or Horn. Bulbs fused to the sockets because of rust. Just beware if you have a vehicle shipped from gateway without looking at it first.

Review №27

This was a wonderful experience for me and Ive bought over 30 cars in my lifetime so far. The thing with these type of dealerships is that you should know exactly what your looking for. Its an in and out type of transaction and they did a great job on that. I did read the reviews as I like to purchase from reputable dealers, and I can partially understand most of them. These dealers are not meant to function like regular dealerships in that you show up window shopping. These people have to be extremely careful as they are selling cars that are not theirs. I also felt some tension when I showed up to look at my car after putting a deposit down but unfortunately its how they have to do business. I can appreciate this as a buyer as I would hate the potential car that Im buying to be test driven or touched everywhere. All in all, Steve was a pleasure to work with and we got straight to business. I definitely recommend this dealership for people who know what theyre looking for and is ready to drop cash.

Odd way of doing business. Tried to make an offer over the phone for a car that wasnt even available in the warehouse but they stated they werent interested in any offer and the price was solid. Their salesman - Steve was professional and cordial but I just couldnt wrap my mind at their approach on NOT even trying to get this car sold. Please dont respond with we at Gateway always strive on working with the customer, etc, etc.. I believe the car has been available for over a year.

The employee that “greeted” us was VERY rude. We didnt look on the website, so yes our bad on that part. My husband found this place on facebook( there is no mention on fb about the showroom being appt only). All the gentleman had to say, NICELY, was “Hey sorry y’all we are closed to the public, but we can make an appt for you to come back and look at our selection.” Nope, not from this unprofessional . We got a rude, smart a** comment about walking in to Chik-Fil-a. He has no customer service skills and it left a horrible taste in our mouths about the place. The problem was how we were spoken to not the exceptions that were made for us. We will take our business elsewhere (StreetSide in ForthWorth) and recommend anyone else to do the same.

Nirvana for old cars guys like me. There were probably 200 cars that could be looked at and ogled. I was specifically looking for a Nash-Metropolitan, series 2, and had hired inspectors in two very remote cities -- these were not good cars. Then found the ad for Gateway Classics which had a 57 for sale. Very nice car, not the junk I had personally inspected -- and just 75 miles from home. Steve West was very helpful and it was a pleasure to shop there. I bought a number 2 car priced somewhat above Price Guide, but much lower than some Ive seen advertised which probably werent actually number 1s.Gateway is a broker for the consignees and contacts them with offers. The owner negotiated a little to a price probably fair for both of us. I figured I saved $1K since I was able to bring it home on my own trailer instead of paying a transportation service. Two months after the sale I got a check in the mail for $33.43 refund on my auto license plates overpayment: they could have kept the money and I would have never known. This probably says something about their honor.Nice atmosphere and pleasurable experience. Now if I can just get my wife to let me get another one. Steve couldnt help me with that.

I worked with Steven West at the Dallas branch of Gateway and he was pleasant, efficient and very easy to work with. He got me set up with a beautiful 1966 Mustang and worked hard to earn my business without being overbearing. He left me alone to really check out the car and then worked with me to arrive at a price that worked. I recommend Gateway and, in particular, Steven. There is one real downfall with going in the showroom however, I would have purchased at least 8 vehicles there if I had the funds! They have an amazing collection of classic and special interest vehicles! Beware!

Been a hot rodder for 40 years. Pulled onto the Gateway property in a 500 HP car and left in my 500 HP car, all in about 5 min. Being an established adult at this point in my life (that actually drove these muscle cars), I was surprised to be reprimanded for opening the door of a car for sale at Gateway (this car had no signage, was freely in the open, AND unlocked). I came to spend money on old car(s), but the money is still in my account. Good luck with that customer service boys!

We got scolded for touching the vehicles. A young man, (wish I would have asked his name so I could call him out) ran up to us (literally) and started somewhat aggressively explaining to not touch the vehicles. I apologized and said I understood. This want enough for him. He kept on after the apology and apparently waved the dont touch sign around my wife as I was walking away. I apologized again not knowing he was doing this or I would have stepped in. This pissed my wife off enough to touch every vehicle we walked by for the remainder of the time we were there. Childish I know, but so was his behavior after I clearly apologized and said I understood. I wont go so far as to say I wont buy my next car here, but there are other consignment dealers around DFW and I will probably focus more on them. The sales guy I talked with was cool though. Very helpful. Not too pushy. The young guy needs to dial his inner Barney Fife back a level or two. We get it tough guy, youre in charge.

I was very impressed with the showroom, there were a lot but not too many cars and they were properly spaced out (not shoehorned in) so you could easily look at and inside whatever vehicle you are looking at. Chris and Nadia were amazing to work with and everything they promised me would happen, did happen. I got my new car and am loving it. The only down side that I would warn anyone about is their facility. They had an amazing inventory of so many wonderful cars, I almost ended up brining back another one. An awesome group of people! I planned a surprise for my daughter to get her first car. I bought a VW Karmann Ghia (not from Gateway) from southern California, and after searching everywhere to have it shipped to a location where I could surprise my daughter with it AND be able to spend a couple of days driving it home with her, I came across Gateway Classic Cars in Dallas. One phone call explaining my plan to Gabe, and he was on board. The car arrived and they took great care bringing it inside and even put it in their photo display area with a cover for the big unveiling. They truly treated us like VIPs and allowed a father to bring a dream to reality. All of this and no charge. I cant thank them enough except to say they are the people you want to do business with. All are marked up around 12% OVER the owners rediculous asking price.
