We were visiting a family member who recently moved to GR and he loves boiled bagels so we came in here after seeing the sign. It smelled so good when we walked in! We opted for the frozen bagels as we were from out of town, but our family member chose fresh rosemary bagels and the aroma from the take home bag was wonderful. The lady working was so nice and even gave our family member a complimentary bagel as a welcome to GR gift! I know he’ll be frequenting this shop, I can’t wait to come bag and buy more bagels!

Im always impressed when I come here. Still a little sad that the juice bar is closed but this place makes it worth it. The Gravlox bagel is delicious. I get it every time I visit I also tried the B2LT which was good, I added cream cheese to it. You wont be disappointed. Oh yeah, good coffee too cant forget that. Best Dirty Chai latte Ive ever had. (chai latte with a shot of espresso)

Does your bagel shop offer teriyaki takeout???? Because GR Bagel does!!!! On Thursday nights be sure to try this. We ordered a salmon teriyaki, vegetable and tofu teriyaki, and chicken yakitori platter. They were AMAZING. It was clearly all scratch made, which made it feel healthy and fresh. For a weeknight dinner it is a perfect option if you’re too busy to want to cook for yourself but still want to have a healthy meal. Our favorite was the chicken yakitori, but everything was EXCELLENT. We will be ordering our takeout every Thursday now 👍.

With a single speaker blasting music and a somewhat limited selection of bagels, GR Bagel provides the walking-distance replacement for when Wolfgangs has an hour+ wait time. Although everything is handmade, I can not yet justify the price tag attached. The saving grace for this startup is the singular type of hot coffee. Delicious. I think Ill wait a little while before returning so the espresso bar has a chance to settle in and provide more things to try. Im looking forward to seeing what GR Bagel becomes, but for now all I can see is the potential.

First time visit to their new location. I loved the atmosphere! Their bagels were the closest I have found to real New York bagels. Real bagels are supposed to be crunchy on the outside, not bready like most bagels are in West Michigan. The cream cheese was a little tart for me, but was very fresh and homemade. Finally, if you like scones be sure to try one there, they were great!

I really wanted to like this place, but I just couldnt. The bagels were horrible. I had difficulty eating one. It was small and tasted like Melba toast. I would have thrown it out, but someone was treating me, and I didnt want to be rude. The cream cheese wasnt much better than the bagel. The consistency was just wrong and it had little taste. The staff was very nice and tgevplace was very clean.

Stopped going to this place mostly because of the service - takes way too long. Sometimes you’re left floating waiting for someone to pop out, sometimes it takes nearly 10-15 minutes to get a untoasted bagel with cream cheese. If you resist the urge to just do it yourself, the product is pretty decent.

HORRIBLE! DO. NOT. GIVE. THEM. YOUR. MONEY. First of all, their bagels arent very good, definitely over priced for the quality you get. Along with that, actually even worse than that, they treat their employees HORRIBLY! When they try to quit because theyre already working two jobs, and their other job offers a promotion and pay raise, they harass you! Horrible! They have ZERO respect for their employees. Even when they give two weeks and quit in the most respectful way possible. They threaten in horrible ways, threaten to take out of your last pay check, they threaten to call the cops on you if you cant do exactly what they want right when they want it. AWFUL! MAKE THIS HORRID COMPANY GO AWAY! SHUT THEM DOWN NOW! They act like children not business owners. GR BAGEL IS HORRIBLE!

So, okay, Ive only been once, back in...February, I think. Now before you write me off, let me enlighten you about the dreams Ive had about this bagel since then. Both awake when hungry... but also asleep. I havent stopped thinking about it. Not kidding. Still thinking about driving the four (five) hours from Milwaukee so I can get another one.As you can see, I had some sort of green situation with egg, spinach, cream cheese and I think also feta and maybe artichokes. The price was a liiittle high ($7 I think), but it was well worth it. Im glad I took the leap. And sad I dont live closer. I bet their other, more elaborate sammiches are even better...

There must be something in the water at this place, where to begin. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with lox spread, and the person at the counter (owner?) Criticized my order as being a faux pas. This was somehow in reference to the NY candidate who did so in NYC, except she butchered the reference (the order was lox (not spread), tomato, onion, capers, cream cheese on cinnamon bagel). So the comparison aint cutting it lady. Nevermind that you shouldnt criticize your customer orders. THEN, after I told her I was from New Jersey, I was told that that doesnt really count compared to NYC. They pride themselves on hand making their cream cheese here. Lets be real honey: Every single NJ bagel shop hand makes its cream cheese, just like the 6 or so shops in my home town; the horse is really high at this place. Now to the bagel: the 2nd star was given because the flavors were good. Sweet, light cream cheese, hint of salt on the lox, lots of raisins in the bagel. Sadly the goodness stops there. The lox spread had no significant chunks of lox. You could barely see the pink come through in the color. Second, the bagel was pint size, probably half of a good Jersey bagel. And the whole thing was soft - a quality bagel should have a crusty exterior. After she asked how the bagel was, and I brought up the crust, I heard an excuse about how we dont have the right size ovens here to do it that way.. Hold up, I thought these guys were the real deal? Criticized the customer and then you hand me that kind of line when you know you arent up to snuff? Listen, Ive got only one thing to say about this place: fugedaboutit.

I wish I could say differently, but unfortunately these people do not know how to do business properly. I went in on accident, because I had been mistaken of our bagel supplier for the cafe I’m employed at.I went in with a list of bagels at 9am, with no one else in the store. I was very abruptly/rudely greeted by a man that was working in the baking area. Showing him my list, he looked confused (little did I know, it was because they don’t carry a few of the kinds that were listed). His response? “We don’t even have Asiago, or blueberry bagels. These are fake bagels, and we make real bagels.” I was stunned for a second, but shrugged it off.I responded with understanding, as it was obviously my fault for going to the wrong place, but said “Oh, okay. I have to call my boss again, because I don’t know where to go to get these bagels then.”He then asked me where I was employed, and I responded with the name of the cafe. He got extremely snippy and uppity after I had stated the name of the cafe (I’m not going to list it on this Google review, due to the fact that this is my personal experience, and I don’t want it to reflect of my place of business). He raised his voice and basically walked me out the store, telling me that “We don’t do business with you anymore. Haven’t in years.”Returning to the cafe, I had let my boss know what happened, and he reassured me that throughout the entire time of us ordering from them they were very rude and we’re very particular about the way that we placed and showcased their products, after purchase.Overall, the entire experience was negative. All that was needed was him to let me know that I was not in the right place, and the atmosphere of the store was very grim and unexceptional.Management needs to get over themselves and begin to treat the companies that they do business with a lot more respect, because if they treat all their customers the way that they treated me, a confused random individual, they won’t be in business much longer.Highly suggest going to Bagel Beanery over this place any day. The staff there was smiling and happy and very sweet upon my arrival.I totally understand eating/buying local, but I will never be walking into GR Bagel again. For good reason.

Real bagels. Real, water boiled bagels. If its not boiled, its not a bagel is the tagine at this real deal bagel shop. They have an excellent selection of bagels and sandwiches which they craft around these 5 star bagels. The spreads will absolutely not disappoint, I think they even make the cream cheese in house. The salmon spread is the best I have ever encountered- bested only by an order of the lox on a sea salt bagel. Lox, by the way, are done in house- and magnificently well. One of my favorite spots in Grand Rapids, Aperitivo at the downtown market, use these same bagels and lox for a monthly event that is quite nice to catch- and was how we came across the wonders of GR Bagel in the first place.Whatever you do, do *not* forget to get a cheddar and chive biscuit. They are incredible. Really. Dont forget. Yeah, get whatever bagel you came in for- but dont forget a biscuit, at least once.Terribly nice staff, amazingly great product that in unparalleled in the city. There are no finer bagels, and no one even comes close. Once you experience this sort of bagel, you will be supremely dissatisfied with the bready representation that has been passing for a bagel up until now in your life.Well done, GR Bagel. See you again soon. :-)
