Had my heads done for a Jeep 4.7 and only very recently got it put back together and started driving it. So far so good. They did lose one small part (plastic cap with an o-ring for oil sealing), but was fortunately inexpensive to replace. Was also originally quoted over the phone that everything would be replaced for a set amount, but I was told after the work was done that they simply tested existing components (valves, springs, hydraulic lash adjusters) and only replaced on an as-needed basis. That is deceptive in my book. Id consider this place to be a bare minimum type of shop, meaning they will do satisfactory work and get you going again, but if youre wanting them to go the full 9 yards and replace everything, there are likely other shops (albeit pricier) that would better suit specific needs.

Dont waste your money here. Second head they gave me was bad too I was check it and is look like the just put head together from different parts just to sell them. That dont me it not your I am going to put a picture of your seal stamp that are your and the receipt when I bought them. There paint it because I paint the engine red.

Looked up CHI again to recommend to a friend recently and realized I had never left a review. I replaced my wifes heads on her 3.7 jeep liberty back in 2015 and these were seriously the nicest and easiest people to work with. The heads were perfect.

Ive been ordering from them for longer than I can remember, and it takes sometimes less time to send it to them than local and always costs a 1/4 to 1/2 less and they do way more for less than my local machinist. Amazing service, amazing product quality. I had called in an order on Monday morning. Realizing I had forgot to mention my application when I ordered my heads, I called and made a change order to add hardened valve seats to my heads that normally do not come with them on Tuesday. I was really hoping to have them in my hands by the following Friday. Good prices and good parts. Ive ordered 1 head for a VW Jetta, and had it shipped to me. And I ordered 2 heads for a Chevy 4.8 and picked them up. Both vehicles are doing great and running good. Theres no noise from the lifters or rockers. I definitely recommend these guys as they also give a warranty.

This place is the absolute best place for me. I replaced 2 factory cylinder heads for 02 dodge ram 4.7 and the quality far exceeded my expectations! I was going to rebuild my old heads but Ive come across CHI and i just couldnt beat the price! It was literally cheaper the buy from CHI . BEST PART WAS GETTING CAMS, ROCKERS, VALVE SPRINGS, VALVES & HYDRAULIC LIFTERS AS WELL! My local machine shop was having me to either buy or use my old guts!? Purchased a reman 6.4 power stroke head and installed on a freshly rebuilt engine, it ran 200 miles and a frost plug fell out under the valve cover and dumped 3+ gallons of antifreeze into the crank case. Upon inspection I found the the frost plugs were installed with silicone and were not the correct size either. After speaking to them about what happened he offered to send me new frost plugs....8 dollars worth of frost plugs was not the concern, 10k dollars worth of destroyed engine from shoddy workmanship was the concern. He did finally agree to send another cylinder head. The head arrived and I bought it to my local machine shop to check over before install. Half the valves would not pull vacuum, they disassembled and found one seat that looked to be burned another was ground so deep there was barely any seat left. They had also installed 6.0 valves in the head, not 6.4 valves.I have never in all my life seen such poor quality work. I didn’t call back over the condition of the second head, I’d probably just get another piece of garbage back anyway.

Purchase 4.7 Passenger Head for a Jeep 1st one arrived with obvious crack branching out externally from coolant jacket. Called they were great to work with and they would send another but would not express ship (next day or 2 day). 11/7 another head shows up 1st noticed bolt for 2nd cam cap is broken and and laying on valve spring. Then noticed the camshaft dowel is BENT... wanted to give them another chance and overnight me a head but Scott opted for me just to send the Heads back for a refund. Its a straight roll of the dice what kind of product you will receive. The Heads are Check for Valve Sealing and Cleaned.... No Valve Job or Seat Correction

Never get heads from this company, they are a junkyard not a machine shop. I ordered one head with bad bolt threads all that work for nothing after i returned it for exchange, they sent me another one did a compression test cylinder num. 4,6, leaks bad, they dont change out the burnt exhast valves or somthing. I learned my lesson, Smith auto machine shop is your best option by far. Also look at the bad reviews on YouTube lol.update; I removed the exhaust valves today. Your valve grinding job was so bad, you can see and full lines and pits. The valve seat was so bad also they dont even grinde the seats to specs with old valve guilds. Valve overall minimum length: 4.094in, your valve was too short 4.082in. Crazy how do you stay in business?.

Bought a cylinder head installed it. Engine ran briefly than died wouldnt restart. Did leak test, leak test showed air leaking from both intake/exhaust valves. Contacted company, spoke with Scott in warranty dept. He questioned my issue at first, he did agree to send me another cylinder head. Got 2nd air did water test ( SEE 2ND PIC---1st PIC IS OF 1ST HEAD I GOT W/ BENT VALVES) Contacted company again. However this time Scott was very rude, didnt care that I had gotten 2 defective heads . I even spoke with owner, she could care less about my situation as well. I will never buy any more heads from this company

It developed a lifter tick (very common issue on miatas) gave them a call, talked to a very knowledgeable gentlemen and new lifters were on my doorstep a few days later. I bought a set of 062 cast vortec heads for a customers truck for a engine rebuild. To this day its a good running truck. I also had them repair a 034 cast cylinder head. They went through it completely and that engine is running like a champ. Ive only had good experiences with this place. Definitely have your cylinder heads worked on here. A cylinder head repair only took a day for them.

Please save yourself the time and read through the reviews (including Yelp).I ordered two rebuilt heads.  The right side had a different spring rate than the left.  I returned them and the  guy argued with me that they were correct.  One also had a bad weld over what I assumed to be a crack.  I had to fight with them about the restocking fee which I did get back but not the shipping

I bought a head for a 97 Mercury tracer at a fantastic price. The head came in only 3 days, looked fantastic. Was exactly as ordered and packaged properly. So after reading a lot of reviews and checking out prices, I decided to have my cylinder heads rebuilt at CHI. This was about 3 years ago. First thing I noticed was that the decking was less than smooth. I could see the lines from the machine left when decking the head. Next time Ill specify the RA value I want..They were not to bad so I went ahead and installed the heads. Got the engine started up and had a few leaks but did not have time to troubleshoot due to being relocated and having to move out of state. Now that I finally have time to look into the issues, I have found a few things that have irritated me a bit. First, the cam shaft seals were leaking oil, all of them. After 12 hours of work to replace them while the engine is in the car, I found that the wrong seals were used. Also one of the seals had a puncture in it which appeared to be from a flat blade screw driver. Next I moved to the coolant leak. I found today that at least two of the head freeze plugs are leaking coolant. It will be almost impossible to replace these with the engine in the car.. I will never use them again and will definitely report my issues on both of the main 3000GT forums.

I bought a set of heads for a rebuilt Dodge 4.7 last year. Practically every component in the engine was replaced including many of the bolts. The only parts that remained were original included the block, bedplate, crank, rods, timing cover, oil pan, valve covers and intake. You get the idea. The new engine purred like a kitten and went through the break in with ease. The weekend I was getting ready to switch it to synthetic oil at 2500 miles was a bad one. As I was leaving an intersection, on the shift to second gear around 2500 rpm the engine suddenly started knocking and lost power. I barely got through the intersection and pulled into the first parking lot. After having the truck towed home I did a pressure test and cylinder 1 was 0. Debris seemed to be in the cylinder. I pulled the head and sure enough, the intake valve on cylinder 1 had dropped into the piston and shattered. This destroyed piston 1(nice Sealed Power Pistons) and the took out the head as well. It also managed to get coolant everywhere as well. CHI replaced the heads under warranty as it was an obvious defect with no signs of overheating or abuse but I am now stuck with a completely worthless truck. About $2500 in parts alone on that engine just gone. I could have had an improved engine for what I ended up investing, when I say improved the offering company rebuilds the heads themselves and pins the valve seats to prevent this very thing from happening. I didnt want to pay $300 for shipping plus core costs then wait. It would have saved me money and time. Not only that it would have saved the vehicle from being a loss. My whole investment is lost. I may be able to part out the truck if I can find a location to store it and the parts, even that will still be a huge loss. I am disappointed that a company that ONLY does heads could not do better with seats that are known to do this.

Great company! I was a little weary of buying a cylinder online but, I didnt have much choice. It took a week for the part to get here and then we realized that it wasnt the correct head, part our fault part theirs. They answered the phone right away, called me back in a timely manner and quickly sent out the correct head without receiving the incorrect one first. I highly recommend them and the head comes with a 12 month warranty! Debbie who works the office is very sweet and understanding! great company ... Two thumbs up!

Bought a cylinder head for my 2006 Kia Sedona from these folks. The first problem was the camshaft were completely wrong. I called customer service and spoke with Glinn and he tells me to switch out the cams with my old ones. As I did this 8 out of 12 bolts broke in the new head at 10 lbs. With a snap on torque wrench. Two I had to retap after drilling out. I then get the head together 4 days later and installed and it is ported for a different size spark plug and the valve cover bolts dont line up every person knows this in parts alone I is expensive. I called again and no offer to send the right head and he tells me they use casting numbers instead of vehicle specific thanks you guys just cost me another 600.00

Worst experience ever. Ordered 2 heads, and one never had the bolt holes re-tapped, they sent a second one and now the rocker arms wont bolt. They refuse to work with the customers, and expect them to send the heads back on their dime for warranty. Avoid at all costs and go else where.. Save the time and money and buy from someone else. Might cost a few bucks more but I am sure you will get what you ordered right the first time and from a company that will stand behind their products and warranty service..

Bought a cylinder head from them a couple months ago, blew the headgasket on my lexus and to save time got a refreshed cylinder head . It has been a real pain in the ass. The head has sealed, put my compression back up and solved one issue, but they did not use new valves, but reground old ones, not a huge issue but for my money I would have liked new valves. The real issues are that they did not set the valve lash (done with shims between the cam and lifters) so it ticked like hell and would not rev past 4k rpm, valves were to tight and it mis fired like crazy, that was another $200 my cost (I do my own work, a shop would have lost their ass on this job) to buy new lifter shims and gaskets and spend another 6 hours resetting them. The other issue is still going on after 5k miles is an oil leak from my exhaust camshaft seal, Ive changed it 3 times (4 hours of work) and it leaks within a couple days, my only thought is that the camshaft nose is bent and eating the seal, no evidence of a cut or scratch on the shaft. I bought the head through oreillys who has been less than helpful as well. Spent nearly $1100 in total and Im about to drop more on a new camshaft and seal. At least the headgasket doesnt leak...

I contacted the cylinder head guys via email and they were very rude, I asked them about shipping international and they said that they dont do it, which is weird because the name of their company is cylinder heads international. They said they wont even sell me the heads even if I had it shipped to a friend in the US who would then ship it over for me, even thought they dont have to do any extra shipping. No means no, so I didnt understand that at all. Very bad customer service.If they dont ship internationally they should change their name.
