U-Haul has always been my go to place to fill a propane tank. I had never rented any equipment from them until today (December, 12 2020). I called ahead at the beginning of the week and reserved a 15 foot truck to move is out of our two bedroom place. Best moving decision ever! I usually bother all of my friends and family that own trucks or make 70 trips in my car. We only moved across town so and one trip (8miles) was enough so with gas it wasnt even $50!

I scheduled a truck in person at the Grand Forks location. The initial interaction was fine I left with my reservation and boxes to get started. Fast forward more than a week I get a call from the Fargo office stating my truck will not be available in Grand Forks but in Grafton. This was not the impression I was given when making my reservation. In terms of the customer experience over the phone it’s similar to everyone else’s horrible reviews. If you look into a rental leave time in your schedule to drive to another city to pick up your truck. For the staff at Grand Forks please start letting people know that the pickup for the truck will not likely be at the desired location. Happy to update my review if anyone is interested in reaching out. Thanks.

Let me start by saying I don’t blame the folks within the grand forks location, and my phone call with Chad from grand forks was great. The Fargo U-Haul staff are miserable, however, and from my understanding the do at least all of the reservations in the area. I reserved a 15-ft truck 2 weeks prior to my move, and two days before the pick up received a call I’d need to pick up the truck in Devil’s Lake. For a move in the opposite direction, this is proving to be very inconvenient.Again, I can’t reiterate how “I don’t care, it’s your problem now” the Fargo staff was. Kylie, from the Fargo office, couldn’t have cared less and clearly was annoyed that I was annoyed. U-Haul has given me a larger truck (more gas money for me now) and extended my drop off (which is not necessary and I will not be using). When I asked about a discount or lower rate, due to my increased prices in gas and travel, I was told it’s not possible and that what’s done is done.I highly recommend avoiding when possible, but also good luck - if there was a different service for truck rental with comparable prices I’d be using it today. Really bummed I have to give U-Haul my business.

The staff doesnt answer the phone and used profane language in front of customers. The vehicle had not been thoroughly checked before we rented it and a loaded pistol had been left inside the cab. Had the staff answered the phone, we would have been able to handle the situation sooner- instead we had to add miles to the vehicle to have the gun removed.

Used a haul n actually moved in November 2020. Used a uhaul again in February 2021 n smashed front of the house up then returned it n was charged same as when I really moved...milage n gas certainly dont match up yet ur charges align. If I werent so impressed with my thoughtful statement I made, I would definitely be inquiring further.

Had to get a one way truck recently. Guy working couldnt even tell me what size I was pointing to in the lot. Ended up getting a truck, got to my destination and was told I owed another $56 to fill it up to the level it was dispatched at. Luckily before I left I took a picture of the milage as well as the fuel level. They wrote it down as full when it was only at a quarter tank. I had to jump through some hoops to get my money back. If I hadnt taken a picture, I wouldve been screwed. These guys cant do their jobs and will make YOU pay for their mistakes. Avoid

If I could leave negative stars, I would. I purchased and made an appointment for a trailer hitch. Im from Fargo but it was cheaper in GF so I drive all the way there for them to tell me they moved my appointment with no call, no email notice. So I wasted my day off and gas for nothing. Then instead of actually getting my hitch, they issued me a refund. So I spent $20 in gas and wasted my time just so now I have to do it in Fargo where its more expensive and waste another day off waiting for this hitch. The men at the desk looked at me like I was the strangest creature on the earth. They were just dumbfounded and had absolutely no answers for me as to why this happened. I also had to call to get my refund on the correct card, waited on hold for half an hour for the woman, Anna or Amy I believe, to hang up on me. I then called back and the store immediately answered. What kind of backwards bologna is this?

ZERO STARS SERVICE . On Monday July 27 2020 I went online and secured a trailer. I prechecked it too save time. I arrived at the store at 12:05 pm . Only one worker inside. I wait while a customer is being helped. While waiting no one says anything to me. 40 mins later I go get in my vehicle. As I drive around I see worker and start to ask him what’s the deal ect and he acts very rude and bothered by me a paying customer. I had to leave and rent from acme rents across the street. They were able to assist me within 5 mins. Bottom line is I will never use UHAUL AGAIN EVER, and I suggest you don’t either. Thanks for waisting my time UHAUL .

Ive used this company twice. The first time, I ordered a 20 truck. The day of, I arrived to pick up my truck and they told me they had no truck for me. Instead, I had to use a 10 truck and make multiple trips and taking me over twice as long as it should have, receiving little discount. The second time I also ordered a 20 truck and was nervous that they would do to me what they did before. The second time they had the courtesy to tell me a day ahead that they had no truck for me. I had to drive 4 hours round trip to pick it up at a different location. All I was given for my trouble was $100 off. Just stopped in this store to pick up a dolly (they didnt have it at the store we had to pick the truck up at) and they were very rude to us. Will never go through any uhaul store ever again. Moving is stressful enough without their disorganization.

If you reserve a truck from U-Haul, be aware that their definition of the word reservation may be quite different than yours. We reserved a truck three weeks in advance, and they called us the day before to inform us that they had no trucks available but that they could do us a favor and let us pick up a smaller truck, at a later time, and in a different city totally out of our way. Reserve at your own risk.

Customer service was great. There were some hidden fees but that was the only con to this business. I was able to get my truck fast and without issues. Overall its a great place to do business.

Reserved a 26 ft truck weeks ago and got a call the day before our move saying they didnt have any trucks in Grand Forks so we could get a 20 ft truck and a trailer in Fargo. Except that pick up was a later time and wed have to pick the truck and trailer up at different stores. When I asked why they didnt let us know sooner, the lady said because they dont know when people will return the trucks. Yeah, sure ok. Ended up cancelling the reservation and going with Penske, who got us a 26 ft truck no problem.

Do not trust they will have a truck for you!!! Crystal will call you 2 days before your reserved move, provide a very condescending and demeaning explanation why you do not have the truck you reserved, and hang up on you!! Worst service experience in my 55 years.

U-BOX arrived in U-Haul grand forks station, stored for 1 month, and then U-Haul deliver and pickup U-Box on time. Everything went smoothly, and Very happy about the U-BOX service here!

If there was a choice where I wouldnt have to choose a star, that would be the first and only choice. Reserved a 10ft truck, more than a week ago, and on the day before I move, they say that the truck is unavailable. Anyone who knows what its like to pack and get things organized its a nightmare. Having incompetent and unreliable service is much worse. This is unacceptable. Now just so we dont have to break contract, (Even though U-Haul did already) we have to travel 200 miles round trip to retrieve a 10ft. truck. And I leave tomorrow. Find another reliable truck rental company in Grand Forks, NOT U-HAUL.

Im wondering what good reserving a uhaul is if they call you the day before you move and say there isnt a truck available. Well there is one but you have to have it back by 11:30. I reserved it 5 tonight to 5 tomorrow night weeks ago. And the day before we move they call and tell me they dont have one. If you want itll be available Wednesday? Nope! It would not help me Wednesday when we have to be out of our apartment tomorrow morning. Thanks #uhaul! Now what are we supposed to do?

I rented a truck and returned it after hours then went out of town they called the next day to let me know that I left my laptop in the cab and when I got back and had the chance to pick it up they told me an employee had taken it home as they are allowed to do after 2 weeks, the information on it is invaluable and I will never get it back
