Rented a Uhaul through Mahneke and the owner was very professional and friendly. Did everything he could to make our experience a good one. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

We rented a U-Haul truck through Darby at Mahneke Motors, who contracts through U-Haul. Due to the previous renters of the truck not dropping the vehicle off on their scheduled drop-off day, we were without a truck at our scheduled pick-up time. Darby could have just said well that sucks, sorry cant help you but instead went well out of his way to get us a vehicle. He stayed after his closing time, called the U-Haul dispatchers for us, contacted the previous renters, and even went to another U-Haul location to pick up our tow dolly for us. Eventually he was able to get the truck from the previous renters and rent it to us. Without his help we would have had to delay our cross-country move (for which we had already booked hotels, scheduled a move-in appointment, etc.) Im not exaggerating when I say he made our entire move possible. And throughout the entire process he could not have been nicer. Thanks Darby! Ill refer anyone in the area to you whenever I can.

I had a hard-to-diagnose recurring, but intermittent, problem with my car, which my regular mechanic hadnt tracked down after a few attempts. I went to Mahneke Motors on a friends recommendation, for a second opinion, and I was very impressed indeed with his knowledge, mechanical wisdom, and customer service.In the end, no work done on my car here, but he spent a full hour discussing the problem with me, asking lots of good questions and explaining the mechanisms to me with the aid of computer animations, so I was well equipped to decide what I wanted to do next.He was patient, unhurried, and friendly, even though I was just coming in off the street without an appointment. There was no pressure-selling tactics, no demand for money, just a clear desire to do the right thing and help the customer make their car work right.Based on this, I would highly recommend Darby Mahneke to anyone.

Mahneke Motors provides fast, dependable, good natured service. I have visited them three times now and each time has been great! For someone like me who doesnt know anything about cars, I really appreciated the advice Darby gave me about what repairs to actually get and which ones werent necessary for my cars age and mileage.

Mahneke motors team are true pros and he and his team know their industry top to bottom! The great thing is he is always trying to keep the bottom line down. I appreciate the fact that he can source refurbished parts sometimes saving thousands. Mahneke motors recently took care of my mother in laws car and the part that was required was quoted to her for over $1,200 at the dealership. Darby was able to find it refurbished for $199. I brought my 2003 GMC Sierra Crew Cab for front end work as recommended by my mechanic, it was like a new car when I got it back. The best part is prior to the work Id burn through a set of tires every 25K miles or so, the tires I put on right before the work was done are still showing practically no wear (or at least very even wear) after two years.

When arriving at closing time to Mahneke Motors I was welcomed with a smile. I went in for a transmission fluid service and was helped in learning I can possibly get it done through my warranty. Not only did they help me save money but they called the dealership for me to get it done . 5 star customer service.

Not impressed with their customer service over the phone. Could not even give a ball park figure on a repair ( one that I could do myself with space and tooling). Even given all the information. The car has to be towed to where ever I chose to have the work done. He said Id have to bring it there to even get a quote! Must not want my business.Update!!! To top it all off, they called me after the review was posted arguing that it wasnt a fair review. Well fella, if you cant give an honest quote on parts and labor for a VERY specific request of work, I feel you either dont know what you are doing or you think everyone is an idiot and doesnt know whats wrong with their vehicle. How hard would it have been to state your labor per hour and cost of a clutch, release Bering and pressure plate!?!? Other shops had no difficulty what so ever in doing so and the issue was exactly as I stated and has since been fixed with no issue and at exactly the price quoted on the phone and no.... they didnt even need to see it first .....

In addition to being a good mechanic, the owner is considerate and friendly.Dont know much about cars and have been afraid to ask for fear of sounding dumb? You wont be here. The owner takes the time to answer your questions and address your concerns. He wont talk down to you.

I had Mahneke replace all the fluids (AT, steering, coolant) on my classic Lexus, as well as get rid of the constantly on airbag light. They were very helpful and professional with doing the work. The mechanic also clued me in to an exhaust gasket failure I would have to repair to pass the smog check. I came back because I had thought the power steering hydraulic system was making noise but it was determined what I was hearing was the automatic air conditioning clutch. Very helpful and knowledgeable mechanics. As a woman I frequently feel like mechanics are trying to get me to do excessive work, I did not feel that way with Mahneke. I would be comfortable with using them again, and will. I was unsure if I should give 4 or 5 stars because my experience with them is minimal. Say 4.5 stars, just because they are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

New Jasper Engine on 89 Ford Aerostar just got me 26mpg round trip from Goleta to Morro Bay... average around town 20mpg. For this old truck thats called excellent.
