This was my first time ever working with CarMax and I am still extremely happy with my decision to sell my previous car and buy a new car with them! My salesperson, Robert, was SO amazing and I have nothing but praise for him! I was super nervous heading into CarMax but left feeling genuinely sad because my time with Robert was over! I have definitely converted to the CarMax family and I can’t wait to purchase another vehicle with them!
Zero stars! I had my heart set on a Nissan Leaf EV with solar power for interior ventilation when some new, aggressive fool whined about having to learn over 400 vehicles. I assume that he was living in a cave. 🤷🏻♀️ Refused to open the charge port by clicking the key, called me weird then stomped off to report me!I had it all on video. He was an idiot. I opened the charge port to verify 110 and 220 charging options but, not 1 fool would come out! They only wanted my personal information when I was willing to trade in my pickup!Incompetent employees!I’m still borrowing $ to buy gas for a huge truck that doesn’t belong in the city!
The process went smooth and efficiently. I requested an offer online through Kelly Blue Book. I went to the dealer with the offer that CarMax proposed. They stuck to the price without any haggling or negotiation. The representative was courteous and pleasant. The whole visit/transaction took about an hour to complete.

I was somewhat skeptical because I have never sold a car like this. However, I am so happy with the service and system I will sell my next car there as well. The web system is easy to use, and there was no problem when we arrived for our interview and car inspection. In very short order we were leaving with a check equal to the on-line submission. What a professional outfit. And their price was very competitive. A winner for sure.
Recently purchased a 2015 BMW from CarMax - Golden. Likes: I found a car which had most of the specific hard to find options/colors that I wanted, the car was shipped from Chicago at no cost, I was able to take a 24hr test drive, and the car was held for me with no money down. Dislikes: Interior was not that clean and most importantly the front brake rotors were warped and worn which was revealed when braking driving down the I-70 in the foothills of Colorado. I spoke with the supervisor/manager Wes when turning the car in after the test drive and he told me that the CarMax mechanics would check them. When I went in to purchase the car a few days later, I was assured that the brakes were within acceptable tolerances of wear and would not be replaced. I purchased the car and immediately found that after driving down longer mountain passes, the front rotors are significantly warped/worn because after heated up, they vibrate to the point of causing the steering wheel to dangerously shudder. I would simply return the car since they have a 30 day guarantee but since I traded my car in and theres no similar replacement options, Im going to have to spend $600-700 for new front rotors and brake pads. Im extremely disappointed in CarMax; especially since Im a repeat customer having purchased a car for them for my son earlier in the year. Ive lost trust in CarMax.Update 9/7: Blake from CarMax Golden reached out to me this weekend in order to replace the front brake rotors and pads. Since I already replaced them, he will reimbursed me for the cost and covered the cost of a dinner because of the inconvenience. Trust restored in CarMax as a good company.
I flew in from out of state to test drive and possibly buy a car in stock they held for me. I did this because ship time to my local CarMax was up to 3 weeks (potentially) and I could drive it home in 10 hours.I had all the info printed and ready and a bank check printed for the amount they gave me via phone. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was out in probably less than an hour including my test drive time! Before leaving, we identified a couple minor issues, that were fixed to my satisfaction.I would not hesitate to buy recommend this location or buy from them again.

My experience was painstakingly tedious. Between lack of customer service at the store front being busy or not answering their phones. The frustration of the staff being overwhelmed and overbooked and then phones never being answered so unless you travel to the store or call the general number which alsoHas very poorly informed agents. I do not recommend coming here. Go to a bigger store where someone can tend to you and what should be a painless and enjoyable experience.

This was so easy! I didnt know what to expect. The car business is associated with so many games and tricks, i wondered what i was in store for. I was so surprised, a very nice lady greeted me and took me through the process. Everything went just as it should have. They inspected my car, confirmed the offer, contacted my bank for the pay off, and I left with a check for the difference. Less than an hour. Highly Recommend.

Not good experience. Had an appointment to test drive a vehicle I have waited a month to come in to the Golden store. They kept me waiting for 45 minutes without any explanation. I had to be somewhere else in 99 minutes so that is why I made appointment. May not go back.stulk undecided. Other experiences with CarMax have been satisfactory.
Really awesome experience. Misty was professional, very thorough and knowledgeable. We sold our car in 90 minutes, we went out the door with a check in hand, completely hassle-free.
Perhaps they just didnt take the time to properly detail our vehicle. The interior had a strong chemical odor and they seemed satisfied with simply suggesting how we might go about eliminating it ourselves. Also, the engine air filter was dirty enough to require replacement, despite the alleged Carmax 125-point vehicle inspection. Lastly, the financing terms that they offered were attrocious - not even close to what we could acquire directly from our bank, even though our bank was supposedly among the preferred Carmax lenders!

Misty was awesome to work with. This was my first time buying from Carmax. It was a very smooth process. My only disappointment was with the tires. I asked Misty what the tread had to be before they got replaced. She stated 4/32. When I had my tires checked they were just shy of needing to be replaced by 1/64 that is so minimal. I thought they would replace but I guess not. Other than that, all good. Thanks Misty.

It has been a long time since purchasing a care from a dealer of any kind. Brandon and the team at Car Max in Golden, CO made the entire experience painless and even pleasant. I had a strange mechanical issue after the purchase, and they honored their warranty with no hassle.
Purchased an Audi A4 which of course recommends 91 octane fuel minimum. When I asked what kind of gasoline did they use to fill up the tank I was told 85 octane. I let the CarMax office manager know how disappointed I was by this fact and I was basically brushed off. Clearly she didnt understand how important this is for a car enthusiast. I also had to show the staff how to reset low tire warning lights. I had to get a second grade in appraisal done since it two weeks to ship the Audi 270 miles. That being said their website made it easy for me to track down what I wanted and a no obligation test after it arrive assured me this was the car I was looking for. U do pay a premium for this but overall I was satisfied with the experience but if u are looking at a higher end car in would ask them not to fill the gas tank and I would get an oil change done Immediately.

There were zero surprises, disappointments, or frustrations.And my goodness, this CarMax Golden (next to Kohl’s) is the most sterile place in Colorado, so don’t worry about COVID at this place.
My car was given an estimate at the 1st contact after a thorough going over. It was seemingly fair and I was given a week to decide. One week later and after a test drive by the representative the sale was completed without issue for the agreed upon original estimate.
We had a great experience at this CarMax location with Robert. We had ordered a car to test drive from another city. While that wasnt the car for us Robert continued to be very helpful and accommodating and helped us to locate another car that we actually ended up purchasing. CarMax is a whole new way of doing business and we greatly appreciate how awesome and respected we felt. There wasnt a salesman that went into the secret room to come out 45 minutes later and tell us that they couldnt give us that price. CarMax is completely different. They offer great prices from the beginning and theres no haggle. We test drove a car and left with our purchase all within 2 hours. Super fast and a fabulous experience! Came to location several times always the same thing no ones free, when there’s 4 or 5 people on floor, all of them just staring doing nothing, but couldn’t help. Should be able to walk in and get assistance not have to schedule an appointment.
I sold a newer full size pickup at the Golden location. The offer price was exactly at the midpoint of the KBB range. The process took LESS THAN AN HOUR and the staff was uniformly polite, respectful of my time, and fun. They put dealers to shame. Well done Carmax and the Golden staff.
This is the 3rd car I have purchased from CarMax (2 different locations) and it has been a great experience every time. Started with a transfer that was quoted at 21 days but arrived in 4! Scheduled my appointment and when I got there car was sitting out waiting for me. I was in and test driving in less than 10 minutes. Then when it came to the buying part, it was super simple, fast, and amazingly easy. In and out in under 2 hours. Throughout the whole experience, every person I dealt with was excellent. Very customer service oriented and very welcoming with no pressure. I will continue to buy my cars from them and would recommend them to anyone. The best dealership I have dealt with!

We had complications with getting in, which during holidays and such could easily be forgiven. It started to get a little ridiculous. Once my limit was reached and my patience was spent I expressed that and made a boundary as to what would be best for interactions to go smoothly and resolve the issue. The manager completely disrespected my request and even continued to ironically give a lecture of how much they respect customers. They have a lost a customer for sure. But everyone else there is still great. So just dont run into issues and you should be fine.2nd Edit: Customer Service gave many answers, none of which were to questions I asked. Matter still unresolved. Again, the experience is great as long as you dont have problems.
The whole experience at the Colorado Springs office too a lot more time and involved a lot more people which added to the time necessary as some people were not available to complete a step when we were. Conversely, when we bought a 2nd car a few weeks later at the much smaller golden CO facility, one person handled 90% of the transaction including a trade in and the whole process was much faster. The mega stores like colorado springs just take a lot longer because of the number of different staff involved.

Car as advertised, Experience at dealership less than satisfactory! I had appointment to pick up vehicle and sign paperwork as I had informed them it was 5 hr drive to dealership and 5 hr drive back home. Car was not ready to go and paperwork also not ready. The person I was to deal with not available. Dalton who ended up taking care of situation did outstanding job in handling as best he could in trying to get transaction completed in timely manner.

Traded in my Jeep for a VW 12/07/20. It seemed very smooth until a month into waiting for my title...I’m understanding of the fact that the DMV is backed up and busy. CarMax told me the paperwork was sent and gave me a tracking number. I waited another month, then had to extend my temp plate. I call the DMV and they tell me they have not received anything and they definitely would have processed it by now and to call CarMax.I have called CarMax Golden so many times now and have been told every time to leave my number and someone will call... Everytime, no one has called. I heard a manager explain to the person I was on the phone with that CarMax messed up due to the fact there was a glitch due to they way they processed the sale then that person explained it to me again. No sorry. Not once. My extended temp plate can no longer be extended due to purchasing the car cash. My tag expires 4/2/20. Almost 5 months now. I was told CarMax would have my title for me to pick up so that I can get a real plate on time by this Thursday. I call today to ask if they received it,they take my number. Still haven’t got a response back. This is the worst experience. It has affected so much of my personal time and still have yet to have any sort of empathy from one person there. I haven’t seen my parents since the beginning of the pandemic and now that I finally can, I am forced to spend a few of those days taking care of something that should have been resolved so long ago.

This CarMax location is without a doubt a great place to by a car. I worked with them before and after going to the Littleton, CO location where i had the worst experience ever. So i went back to work with Miranda who helped me out by getting me the Store Manger, Wes, to fix some problems that I had endured while in Littleton. He transferred the car to Golden for me, and from there I worked with Wes, Brandon, Miranda, and Doltan, all great, fun, energetic people, who knew exactly what they were talking about, and made this car buying experience of fun, enjoyable time. All the staff are friendly, respectful, and truly seem to care about their customers needs. When it comes time to buying another car, Ill definitely be sure to visit CarMax in Golden again. Thanks guys for all the help, maybe a pastry delivery should be in order

Probably could have achieved a better price selling my car myself through ads, etc., but considering the potential hassles, risks and inconvenience of that, as well as CarMax service, Car Max was not only worth it but a far better option.
My purchase of a 2015 Lexus RX 350 went very smoothly and was hassel free. They shipped the car from Utah to Golden Colorado for free. Our rep: Cora, did not pressure me when I said I didnt want the extended warranties that were available. (This was huge because my experience has been otherwise with other dealers, who were not very pleasant about it). I purchased the car (with the 7-day refund policy)and had it examined by an independent Lexus technician. The Lexus technician only found that the cabin air filter and the engine air filter needed replacing, and the headlights needed to be restored on the inside. CarMax had already replaced the battery when I said it looked very corroded, (but they did put in a smaller battery). That battery wont do as well in cold weather as a Duracell 24F agm battery would. But Ill watch it and get the better battery when needed. When I told CarMax what the technician had found that the car needed they quickly, graciously and efficiently installed the 2 filters and treated the headlights, which now look great! I was really impressed! So, do your homework, know which questions to ask and definitely get your car checked by an independent technician. But you should do well with this company!

Being a pretty discerning shopper, I was initially a little sceptical of buying a car through CarMax. You know, the Too good to be true, usually isnt. In this case it definitely was. It was simple, all the info was there, the price was great, the car I purchased was great, it was fast and the return policy was a huge confidence boost that I knew if I got a lemon, I could take it back - unlike local dealerships.I have been impressed and will buy my next car through CarMax and encourage my kids to do the same. 5 stars!
I previously gave a 5 star rating but I’m changing it to 3 stars now. Let me start out by saying the buying experience was great and I love the car, however, I just went to register the car today and was told I couldn’t because the dmv sent the paperwork back to carmax because there were errors. This is a bit frustrating because nobody let me know and I took off work early to register it as my county does it by appointment only. It would be nice if carmax could get the paperwork right since I gave them $8000 of my hard earned money. I held up my end of the bargain so please hold up your end. This shouldn’t happen and is somewhat of a bad look. Stay safe everyone.

We all know car shopping is typically anything but fun or enjoyable, but my experience with CarMax made me rethink the entire process. They shipped me in two different vehicles from halfway across the country, and I was under no obligation to buy either of them. Fortunately, one of them is exactly what I was looking for, and once it arrived the buying process was smooth, seamless, and even a little bit enjoyable. I was very pleased to find the car, I wanted, online. As the car was shipped there was some damage by the trucking company that was addressed by the Manager in Boulder.I felt that the entire process took too long, while @ the location. An appointment was made, yet the information was not provided to the sales team? We had an opportunity to work with a veteran CarMax associate (from KS) but he was clueless to our visit and purchase.I had paid $399 for the transfer and was expecting a clean car with the paperwork ready to go, unfortunately, that isn’t what happened.In regards to the Store Manager, Wes, he stepped in, understood the obstacles and he (with another associate) did there very best to correct.I received my transfer fee back and was very Happy that they took care of us.
Totally disappointed. What a waste of time. Spent time on the phone first, then went down 40 minutes just to test drive....Oops, what we told you was incorrect. And by the way, several staff members vs. 1 or 2 potential customers, and yet no one was available to even take my information for test drive. The lack of knowledge and the lack of customer service is unbelievable. I was at another Carmax store for a walk-in inquiry and test drive, one staff member handled everything smoothly. I would definitely go back to the other store, but will not come back to this store again.

This was great - second auto purchase from Carmax this year. You can shop online, investigate every car. I liked one, had it transferred (no charge) to a carmax near me and test drove it. Purchasing it was so easy, no hassle, no haggling, no pressure. A+ experience, even in the midst of Covid.
I sold my 2019 Mercedes C43 today. I took it to CarMax, Auto Nation and the Mercedes dealer to be appraised. CarMax came in at $41K, Auto Nation offered $42.5K and the Mercedes dealer gave me $48K. The CarMax process was quick and efficient but a very low ball price.
Our interaction was predictable and was a very agreeable experience. It was great!
So first off Id like to state that I like to be a difficult customer and especially so with any great amount of my hard earned money. I have never shopped with carmax before being a craigslist user myself and Im very glad I opted to follow in my familys suggestions and shop carmax. When I had the vehicle transferred from Texas they were very fast about it and streamlined the process. When I called them regarding my car the day before purchase I found I was mislead by some new people over the phone, it did irritate me and I was about to not go through with the purchase until the woman I was dealing with resolved all my issues. When I showed up to the store I was greeted with great service and smiles all around. Brandon storey made my experience with my visit and he helped me with all my questions, even some ment to be irritating. Overall id say the entire staff was very friendly and hardworking despite some of my frustrations. I rate 5 stars because I believe they will fix the complaints I had and the service was excellent besides that hiccup.
Buying a car through Carmax was a pain free experience. Every employee we spoke to was kind and helpful. We did everything online and then test drove the car. The brakes needed to be fixed and they fixed the brakes with out an argument. Very enjoyable experience for us and we would recommend them to everyone.
CarMax...I have been without a car, once again (9 times now), for almost a month...👎. The LEAST you could do is have me in a working vehicle...ANY vehicle... If I paid with money you couldn’t use, I assume you would pursue legal action...so what should I do with a vehicle I can’t use, and has actually put me in danger?Doing whatever you can to get a contract signed only to look the other way when your customer is sold an UNSAFE VEHICLE 🙄I have 100% had to rely on helpful bystanders 9 TIMES NOW to get me and my vehicle off the road to a safe spot. Shame on you...😔

Every Carmax employee I worked with was professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. It is obvious that they like their jobs. That kind of attitude comes from the top down.
I went to two different CarMax locations in Colorado and both have a great selection. However, the CarMax in Golden really stuck out to me with their amazing management and customer service team, from everyone I came in contact with were so friendly and helpful. They are not pushy what so ever and it was one of the easiest car buying transactions Ive ever experienced. I love my new car and would definitely recommend/reuse Carmax in the future!
