Literally just saw this place as I was driving by and stopped to see what it was. So glad I did! I found so many cute items for cheap! I will definitely be back.

The ladies I see are always so helpful and happy every time I come in! If you need advice to spice up a outfit or finding something in the store to go with what you’ve already found they are… BOOM done!

This establishment is outstanding! I have brought so many close in to get store credit and let me tell you, its sooo worth it. The people working are extremely welcoming and are always helpful. Ive been helped out by a girl named Sydney a few times and shes amazing at helping me find a new outfit for any occasion and for when I need to bring clothes in. The store has so many thrift worthy clothes and all for such a good price!! I recommend shopping here because the experience is always a 10/10!

The service was fine however every time I have shopped here, the employees do not hide their negative opinions of customers and complain quite a bit. I overhear them shaming the customers and speaking negatively about each and every customer after they leave.

I love this place. The staff are always nice, and they have so many great clothes/shoes/accessories that I always find something (usually many things) that I love for less than ten bucks. It’s my favorite shop, hands down.

Bad customer service experience. I visited one of these stores for the first time after seeing the good reviews- I brought a couple of items just to see how it worked and what they would let me trade them in for. I looked around and the female associate called me up, I told her this was my first time trading things in. She told me I would get like $11 which is fine but I asked if I could take the clothes back when my daughter was done looking, because I would have rather kept them and given them to someone for that amount (2 things were brand new with tags and 1 was like new- I wasn’t offended by the price just didn’t feel like it was worth it). She said it was fine to leave them at the counter and could have them back when I left, and I told her I would come back to get them. She let me know that if they were processed in the system I couldn’t take them back but I could leave them there until I was done. I came back about 10-15 minutes later and asked for them. She said she couldn’t give them back because she had already processed them, but “sorry for the misunderstanding”. It was not a misunderstanding I think she just didn’t care- she knew I wanted them back and I would have taken them earlier if I had known that would happen. She just said there was nothing she could do, “store policy”. The store in general was pretty decent and seemed to have a good variety but one unapologetic interaction like that leaves a bad taste.

Definitely a store for young people and teenagers.

First time visitor! I came up from Chesapeake to spend a couple of days in the Richmond area. I found the store by chance. There were so many wonderful deals (80% off) and a great selection of regular priced items. This is a must visit store!

The best clothing and shoes if you want the best price, quality, and have it fit. I could find clothes that fit me perfectly before, during, and after pregnancy. Also my mother in law found amazing outfits for her slender figure. This is a place I highly recommend for people of all shapes and sizes!!

Great place to buy clothes, but don’t sell your clothes here.Other Uptown Cheapskate in NC doesn’t require strict rules to sales, such as “First Time wait in the store (even though it may be an hour wait or more)” & “if I drop off clothes, I should come to close time to pick it up (even though, I drop it off as soon they open)” They even forgot to called me to let me know they were done.Also, when I drop off; the staff was kind of rude because I had questions. 😅 I just thought it was weird how they did things at that location.When I pick up, the staff was incredibly nice!I think the issue is other uptown cheapskate stores does it so much better of letting consumers know what’s going on and fit into their time.

I love this store! It’s always been one of my favorite places to shop. I’ve gotten some of my favorite designer purses here for a steal, and the staff is so polite! I watched one of the workers get yelled at by a rude customer tonight and I felt so bad for her! I was really impressed with how polite she was though. Great prices too!

Hidden gems abound here! A lot of people come in to sell but I come in to shop. The selection is great and the prices are good. If you are patient and wait for their sales you can save even more! Please note that it requires some digging to find the really special items, so give yourself some time. The womens section is massive! There is no reason to go to the mall because of great stores like Uptown! The only thing I request is that they bring back the Welcome to Uptown greeting. :-)

This is definitely one of favorite stores. I find great party dresses and shoes here. Its not thrift prices though so youll rarely get a steal on high end brands. A few dollars less, but I like all the brands at my fingertips. My only dislike is when staff assumptively asks to take your clothes as if youre trying to steal. Especially, when not all patrons are approached that way. Felt very singled out as a woman of color. Poor sales tactic trying to force you to buy what you havent tried on or decided to buy. Why not offer a basket or cart? But... they know my face now and have calmed down a bit.

I had lots of fun at Uptown Cheapskate. It was my first time visiting and everyone was so nice. They have a good system to hold your selections behind the counter while you try on more items. I like that they have nice brand names in styles that look great. Ill shop again soon!

I had a great experience shopping here! They have an awesome variety with great quality and name brands. I love that they sell new and used items and the girls who work there are very sweet! I did have a LV bag I tried to sell there and they didnt buy from me because I didnt have the receipt which was a little bit of a let down but I do understand they wanted to be sure. No hard feeling at all ... Ive been back since multiple times! They also have a pretty cool rewards system that has deal notifications pretty often! Great job guys!

I brought in a dress and jeans to sell. I had originally purchased them from this Uptown Cheapskate location and had not worn them; they would not buy them back. I would recommend selling clothing to a different store or company.Clothes in the store are in like-new condition with amazing material and texture. I always find several pieces to try on and take something home each time I visit.The store employees are friendly and welcoming and the store itself is clean, smells lovely, is organized by size, color, type of clothing (sweaters, dresses, blouses, jeans, etc). I usually hate clothes shopping in person but I can spend hours in here!

I had heard good things about this store but after shopping there several times I am disappointed. Like others have said they claim to sell high end name brand clothing but a LOT of their racks are filled with cheap clothes made in China. Its like they bought 50 of the same exact shirt and same exact color in bulk and are trying to jack up the price to make a profit. If you are looking for nice name brand clothes there is no need to come here. The store is also VERY crowded. Some aisles are blocked and you have to walk all the way around the store to get to the other side of a rack. The racks are also over packed so they are very hard to shop. A lot of the store appears to be organized in no particular order. Yes, all the long dresses may be together but they are not organized by color and you will also find rompers and cardigans mixed in with it. Its such a frustrating experience to shop in this store. Ive met one super nice employee there and even though she tried to unlock the changing room I was in while I was in there such was super genuine and apologetic. Mistakes happen. No big deal. She was truly great. However; everyone else I have dealt with there has been less than pleasant. Also, I like the idea of the donation coins but when you hand one to a customer at least explain what it is for. Myself, and others Ive seen, stand there confused as to why a poker chip was handed to us. This store needs work. Period.

Arrogance is not a perfume that I like the scent of on a woman! The women in this store are very haughty and pretentious. They act as if theyre Gods gift to fashion and retail. You would think the dust bunnies on the floor would be a priority, but these cud chewing heifers prefer to profile customers and judge others based on looks. And for goodness sakes...what the hell is a dow-lar? Its called a dollar. You fake valley girls are a joke. Keep pretending.

If you are selling clothes, dont come here. I waited for an hour and then the lady at the front desk tells me that my giant gym bag full of clothes is only worth $12. Keep in mind everything in there is in great condition . $12, just make someone happy and donate them to goodwill

Great place, super friendly, fast and painless. If you have an item that they cant sell, they dont shame you they offer to let you keep it or they will donate it for you. I was recently laughed at, somewhere else and Ill keep my business with Uptown.

I love the fill a bag sales and employees are super friendly. The store has a wide selection of nice items I got two brand new Talbot slip on sneakers for 25 dollars. They were 70 and 80 a piece from the price tag!

Be warned that returns are for store credit only. They did not tell me this when I purchased the merchandise. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, one of the workers was completely rude and argumentative. I asked the other worker (who was very nice) if the other one was the manager. She said she was the OWNER. That sealed the deal for me. I definitely do not want to spend my money at a store where the owner is so rude to her customers. If she would have just apologized for her employees mistake, I would have accepted the store credit and been a repeat customer. However, she just wanted to argue and make the mistake my fault. I would never have talked to a customer the way she did. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The owner of this store obviously does not care about her customers. I will not be returning to this store.

Sold them clothes for $25 store credit. They wouldnt give me a receipt and only allowed me to use $11.25 of the store credit. They have some decent deals, but youd be better off selling on eBay or Amazon.

What are they spraying on the clothes is this place. I almost choked from the strong smell. Awful!!! It was in my throat for hours. Do not go here if you are sensitive to perfumes or chemicals.

I often sell clothes here and sometimes get some good money, but the people who work there are extremely rude. They are never willing to help or smiling, and are always condescending when explaining the policies. While waiting for my items to be checked I always hear them complaining behind the counter and sitting on their phones. Will try midlothian one next time

There price are kinda high to be a thrift store. Platos closet has better deals on things. But I do love going in and see what they have thats a good deal.

Great shoe selection

The other day I was in waiting for my friends clothes to be looked through. I was sitting in some chairs while she shopped, and one employee politely asked me if I would mind switching to the other. I didnt think anything of it, so I switched. Then an older lady came over and with a snarky tone said something about I need a reserved sign for MY chair since everyone wants to sit in it like what??? She then pulled over some clothes and was putting tags and stuff on them, another worker. All while glaring at me like I did something wrong. I thought the chairs were for customers waiting, but this mean lady suggested otherwise. I then overheard that she was the owners mother. I am putting 3 stars because the other employees were very nice and helpful, and the store had really nice merchandise.

The employees are incredibly rude and condescending. I do not feel like a valued customer and they act like there could be 100 other things they’d rather do than take my bag of clothes to only look through it 3 days later. And just today I was hounded in the parking lot that they were not buying clothes today, like jeez you couldn’t have waited until I was actually in the store?

I originally raved about this place, but you the saying how one bad employee can ruin the whole experience, watch out for several employees with attitudes waiting to rain down on you! Uptown cheapskates, you fail yet again. Secret shoppers still exist!! People there is a different location on Midlothian with a different owner. You would be surprised at the difference!!! I was given items to bring and sell, to no surprise, brand new items!! They did not except bc I wrote this review!! Discrimination is still is very much alive and mainly in this store. These items were loved and sold at the other location.

Its funny because I rated this place 5 stars just a week ago. But I dont condone discrimination. I brought an item here to sell a few weeks ago because it was a higher priced pair of shoes and I thought Id get a better luck here. Didnt end of selling them that day but I brought the shoes back today. I dont understand how you offer someone a price for an item one week and then I bring the item back and all of a sudden the condition is unsatisfactory. I really enjoyed this place much better than Platos Closet but unfortunately Ill have to take my items and sell/donate at a more ethical establishment.

Sold three things for $12.50 in store credit. Got back to the car and realized that they had bought a pair of coach loafers and a pair of Nike tennis shoes. What part of that $12.50 was the $80 loafers or the $100 nikes? Selling to them is a complete rip off dont even waste your time. Stick to platoes closet. I wish I had. The employees were very helpful while I was in their and the store is very clean but if your trying to not get ripped off for your stuff just sticking to shopping there.

My first impression of Uptown was... Okay. Another one of those consignment shop claiming to offer luxury designer brands and other supply at relatively decent prices. Low and behold, the store resembles a Plato’s closet with poorly organized TARGET brand clothing. Here’s the thing. Nothing wrong with Mossimo, or other brands like that, but don’t play it up like you’re a premium second hand store if you’re high end pieces in the store are Ray Ban Sunglasses... (we’ll get to that later.) / Every single time I’ve “sold” to Uptown, ive been generous and let multiple bags of excellent quality, designer brand (such as Diesel, Polo, Penguin, Burberry, Hermès, and so on) go for $60-79 a bag. No big deal, I planned on donating it anyways. Each time it’s taken several hours if not days to offer my a payout, and then upwards of 1 hour to “authenticate” pairs of sunglasses. The “owner” seems to recognize me immediately and isn’t very vocal or kind to me and comes off very judgmental like I’m on a blacklist..?. It took them over 35 minutes to “authenticate” a pair of retail ultra boost in mint condition (literally purchased them from a friend maybe 3-4 months ago) for $129 and they offered me $48. A 50% gain in any consignment store is atrocious but probably necessary to stay in business considering what they’re typically selling. Also, their commitment to authenticity and process of legit checking a brands legitimacy is a joke. They had a “Gucci” brand bomber going for $1500 that’s easily worth $5400 or more and the inside sizing tag said “Vorexo. Made in China” LMAO. Alright. Not to mention, the ray bans are almost entirely fake. Maybe 3-4 real pairs out of their 12+ on display for sale. Disappointed is an understatement, but let’s leave that up to the staffs fault and not the actual store concept. I think, if implicated more professionally, progress could be made. The supposed owner won’t even comment back towards negative reviews or seem to be open to feedback... PLUS: the store did NOT smell bad on the inside like it did before. Gotta give them that for selling used Clark’s for $44.99 ;). SIDE NOTE: the “owners” exact comment to me was “why don’t you try and sell these on your own site (I run a larger shoe business) and I had just mentioned I was in town and wanted to stop by since I purchased a ton of the shoes I consign myself in bulk and this last pair was a leftover and making a little off of it would be nice since I couldn’t find a private buyer... No effort to even listen to what I said. If she had an issue with me, she could just say so. I gladly won’t shop there anymore. She’s right. I’ll stick to my own platforms. Now, it’s not fair to completely trash the business. It’s hard to stay open no matter what you’re selling. The whole core business idea is great, but they need to be more straight forward with the customers. Instead of putting me in an awkward position and making it seem like I’m trying to pull a fast one on you when I’ve done nothing but try and contribute to what your brand supposedly pushes... *sigh* It’s reasons like this why the consignment industry isn’t performing as well anymore. Let’s just hope it improves for them. Seems to be a shared experience.
