Dropped in to Black Sugar Caffe for mid morning break. Great selection of sandwiches, croissants, snacks, tarts coffee and smoothies. Lovely laid back place with great lighting, decor, ornaments and some very interesting moving mannequins-check out the videos. Staff were very nice and attentive. If you fancy something stronger than coffee then they are also licensed to serve alcoholic drinks.
The cinnamon roll was fantastic and the staff were so kind! The reason why I give it a 4 out of 5 is because my boba was meh. It wasnt bad but it wasnt my favorite. I do want to come back and try some of their other items though.
Weve been so excited for Black Sugar to open and it was as good as I was hoping! There are soooo many types of pastries that I had a difficult time deciding what to get. I decided on the nutella croissant and it was absolutely perfect! I also got the cloud latte and it was soooo fun! And tasty! The ambience was super chill and the staff were amazing. I will definitely be back in the near future!
There are a huge amount of choices at this spot on the square in downtown Georgetown. It is the perfect place to stop in for hand food as you walk around shopping on the square. I had a spinach & feta croissant and a raspberry filled croissant and they were both good. Whether homemade or not, all the food is baked on site and was hot and fresh, the iced tea was great, the iced coffee was great (a bit sweet for my taste was what I expected, so I ordered an extra shot of espresso in it👍) and the staff was super helpful, nice, and very welcoming. Theres also beer and wine 😊.
BRAND NEW coffee/tea/smoothie/dessert/pastry/tapas/beer and boba spot in Georgetown square! If youre familiar with the area, its where Cianfranis used to be, but once you walk in, you wont recognize it at all. The vibe and decor is completely different. It now has a modern, chic and elegant black and purple color way. This place has the most relaxing ambiance. Huge space, lots of seats including sofas and couches and small patio for seating, fast WiFi and an assortment of food and drinks to choose from.New store so had to try a lot of things. They have amazing coffee including standard drinks and even speciality coffee drinks that can all be ordered hot, iced or blended. I got the vanilla sweet cream latte and it was a perfect balance - not too sweet. Also had their spinach feta puff pastry and meat potato puff pastry which they warm up so its crispy and flakey on the outside and warm and moist on the inside.A new item they added are personal savory pies (pizzas) that come in Italian meatball, Thai chicken and caramelized onions. This is embarrassing, but Ive tried all three now. Italian has a hearty serving of juicy meatballs on top and caramelized onion comes with cheese and arugula and Thai chicken has a sweet peanut sauce drizzled over. All delish and perfect for a lunch or light dinner. They have ice cream that comes in a scoopOr you can buy in a donut ice cream sandwich. Also coming soon, craft beers and wines!!! Cant wait for that!Needless to say, Im really excited about this place. Im stuffed to the brim, caffeinated and cant wait to come back again. Check this place out when youre in the area!!
We really enjoy this place but wish it had better hours for the evening. We walk the square after work all the time. We like their coffee better than the shop that is open in the evenings.
We stopped in for coffee drinks and i must say Black Sugar does a much better job of making frozen blended coffee drinks then the previous coffee shop at this location. My wife and only remaining el jefe loved her mocha frozen drink and i enjoyed helping her drink it. I enjoyed a quality hot cappucino. We shared a jumbo sized chocolate chip cookie that was slightly smaller than a dinner plate.
One of my favorite coffee places on the square. Good food and love the vibe there. I would recommend to all!
Great coffee and customer service! Recently visited Georgetown and stopped in Black Sugar Caffe for a late breakfast and coffee -- both were delicious, and the staff were very friendly. We also picked up some whole bean coffee to send for a friend. Well definitely go back the next time were in Georgetown.
Spot on. They make a great cappuccino and the cafe feels like an updated 90s coffee house. Amen
Excellent, helpful service! Welcoming environment. The furniture selection and set up was noteworthy. Well Done
Nice little coffee shop but it lacks costumer service also the staff look like if they where having a bad day not saying welcome to Cianfrani or hello. Nice for a quick snack on the go. Really nice paintings but they are very expensive. The Hot chocolate was decent out of 1/10 I give it a 3/10 it tasted like warm milk heated up.
Great people and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back!
Black Sugar is located where Cianfrani used to be(they replaced them)This purple&black coffee shop has it all and most employees are willing to whip somethings up if the menu doesnt perfectly have what youd like.Black Sugar is one of I believe two locations(there might be others ) that has my personal fave, Boba or Pearl Tea.Almond tea with half sugar is my go to, give it a try! 👌
I have been disappointed several times when I have visited Bkach sugar. While they do have quality products I mainly go for the bubble teas. They have been out of the bubbles. I was told they only make a limited amount each day. They run out before the afternoon.
Solid selection coffee pastries and adult beverages! Great little spot to grab a coffee or a beer, and walk around the square!
Cute little place. My wife had a coffee, inhad a beer. Nice atmosphere and good selection.
Great coffee & service, the coconut cream pie iced coffee was delicious & the baked goods looked amazing. Clean, relaxing atmosphere, card/board games available
Walked in and fell in love!Thats all I can say about this place
Their mocha is the perfect balance. Usually I need to add one shot to balance out the sweetness or add a pump of this or that to balance out a bitterness. They also have other beverages as well which all see to be loved by others in the store. The store also has a decent seating area for having coffee with a friend or two.
I literally dream about this coffee. It is so so good!
I love this place, atmosphere & great blended coffee drinks.
Finally the square has great coffee AND a great variety of treats on the square! I was excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. The coffee was amazing and the treats were a hit with my kids. We will definitely be back again!
This place is amazing! Great coffee, craft beer, and karaoke! So much fun!
I would love to give them a higher rating, but unfortunately, twice we have visited their Georgetown location, and twice they have been out of milk tea. They were also out of tapioca pearls. Disappointing.
I got the creme brulee latte and it was delish. Got 1/2 sweetness and next time I might go 1/4 but definitely hooked!
This is the best coffee place. I’ve visited their location in Cedar Park often so I wanted to see their new location. It’s even better! They have additional items on the menu and the baker bakes everything fresh. The coffee, tea, ice cream is amazing. I did notice somethings on the past reviews. Some of the reviews are for the old coffee shop that was here prior to Black Sugar, so make sure to look at the dates or the name the review is referencing. I’m not sure why the system is combining the two companies. The atmosphere is very relaxing, newly remodeled and the staff is friendly. I would give 10 stars if I could. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in their shops.
Cozy little place. Stop by if youre in the square.
My new go to Coffee Shop. Always happy to see Biloxi Blue and the crew.
Food and drinks were decent. However, from a covid standpoint. Woman brought food to table without mask on and while she’s on her cell phone on her shoulder.UPS delivery comes in without mask and delivers into the kitchen. No thanks. While the staff is friendly and food was decent, not worth the risk with lack of care. They require a mask to enter. Shouldn’t the staff adhere to this?
I have been to the Georgetown location 5 times since they opened and tried several different coffee drinks and they have all been excellent. The menu is extensive and very creative. Looking forward to visiting in the afternoons to try and the tapas, especially when they start serving beer and wine!
Really busy with the festival, so pack your patience.
We were excited to try a new local coffeehouse. Unfortunately, we’ll never return. We totally understand a new business “working out the bugs.” After our orders were messed up, employees talking to friends instead of working, and rude service, they get no second chance. After waiting over 10 minutes and watching staff talk to friends, I asked if they could make our order instead of talking with friends. The manager told me, that was a celebrity. I said, I’m your customer!
Great coffee and amazing employees!
One of my favorite coffee places in town! Definitely recommend it if you haven’t tried it.
They have fun art on the walls. But thats about the nicest thing I can say about this place. Conveniently located on the Georgetown Square. Thats another good thing. Ive been here 3 times in the past 2 months, each time Ive gotten a different item from the menu: caramel macchiato, regular coffee, and a hot chocolate. The macchiato and the hot chocolate were just bad. The chocolate especially tasted like heated up milk with some chocolate syrup in it. The coffee was okay, but I had to wait 20 minutes for them to brew more. All of this might have been okay if the prices were decent, but they are outrageously expensive.
Top notch staff, super friendly and helpful with making a selection. Really cute coffee shop that looks great to just grab a drink and go or stay and get some studying or reading done.
Always a good cup here.
Coffee and Tea were excellent, but croissants were soggy and Luke warm. Bacon not crisp. No flavor and tasted old. Obviously reheated from several days before. The store was very nice as was the seating. I hope they improve as they should add to the Square, not be a detriment.
Excellent coffee creations. Friendly staff and atmosphere.
I have been here twice. The coffee is great. But the first time I had an employee that knew his coffee so well I made a confident choice and was happy with my purchase. This time I basically had to squeeze any help or info out of the employee there. I love coffee but Im not an expert. I barely made it away from their industrial style grinder. I wish their customer service was more consistent.
Their staff was nice but struggling to keep up with the 3 person rush and who Im assuming was the manager literally just watched customers standing around and her staff struggling without helping. Waited 15 minutes for a latte.
Was excited to try this new place. I so wanted to like it. When we went there were only 4 other people in the place and they were already seated.I ordered a Frappuccino and iced coffee. They got my order wrong on the Frappuccino and iced coffee wasnt that great. My son ordered a cinnamon roll which was just ok. The pastries did not look fresh to me. Wont be a regular place for me.
Great food selection and friendly staff
Love the Boba and coffee!!
Pricy and the soy latte was just eh. Many other coffee shops nearby have better coffee at less cost.
Great selection of teas and coffees. You can either order to drink or buy in bulk. They also offer a delicious variety of salads, sandwiches, and pastries. My favorites are the stuffed avocado with salad and the croissant with almonds. Cozy and comfortable ambience with tasteful art for sale displayed on the walls. Will not disappoint...
Really nice place the baked goods were pretty good. Weve only had the hot chocolate but it was pretty good. Will have to try one of the many different teas they have available. We a bit rushed after we received our orders. We came in about 40 minutes before they closed and had to wait in line to order, once we sat down to enjoy our drinks and treats the girl at the counter came out asked us to leave because they were about to close it down. We were a bit upset that our group was the only ones asked to leave and everyone else was not. Still, we left and decided to just shop around. Thankfully the other places we did go to were friendlier. Again the treats and drinks were delicious but maybe train the staff better.
Great coffee and great atmosphere. Great variety of beans and merchandise. I always like to try local coffee shops when I travel for work and support local companies so I chose this one for today.Staff seemed uninterested and like they didn’t want to be there and didn’t want to be serving customers.
Great place, huge list of options, cool place right on the square. Great place to get out of the heat. Locals love it so much, they keep their own personal mugs on a shelf near the counter. Baristas know the locals by name and greet them when they come in.
Rude, rude, rude. Their products are great, but dont expect anything for customer service. Its terrible. The staff act as if they dont want to be there, they dont want to serve customers, and not one of them ever smiles or greets you with enthusiasm. They act as if the customers are a terrible bother. Every time I have stopped at Cianfrani, Ive experienced awful customer service. Just terrible, terrible rude service. Grab your coffee, tea, baked goods, and go. Dont expect any friendliness at the counter. The customer service problem has happened time and time again. Im not coming back.
Amazing selection and great coffees!
Great quality service as well as coffee! I love the local artwork for sale as it is tasteful and beautiful. The coffee mugs and cups for sale are so cute and unique! Definitely recommend!
This is a very busy place. Very comfortable sofas, tables and chairs - large and small for a single or couple, or for a large group of friends. Seating on the sidewalk where you are sure to find a group if friends visiting on a pretty morning. Very good pastries.
Rad vibe, nice new element to the town
I used to come here back in my High School years (class of 02). Im really happy to see the store is still up and running. So many great memories and over-caffeination, I always got the Cafe Cianfrani with double the espresso. Almost all the coffee Ive had since then has been a close echo to the awesome coffee from Cianfrani.
My wife and I stopped in for some coffee and a bite for breakfast. It was not to busy. Service was very fast and the staff were extremely welcoming. The coffee was very good and very fairly priced. It is definitely not an $12/cup place.
Its a nice little coffee shop. Id give it five stars except for two things: most of their roasts taste a little stale and burnt to me, and staff can be hit and miss as far in warmness/friendliness. My GHS kids are good, but older staff- sometimes I get the vibe that Im inconveniencing just with presence.
Plenty of tables and plenty of delicious drinks and baked goods! They always have interesting art on the walls and it is a really popular spot in the community. People are always having meetings or spending time together here and everyone is friendly and will chat you up. Love this place.
Great cold and hot coffee menu. Plenty of ready to eat items & from the menu. Large selection of coffee beans at reasonable prices. Nice people work there and nice regulars you can get to know.
We have been here four times with friends. My tastes are really simple; I like a bold, fresh, drip coffee with milk. I really want to like this place because its local and not a chain but each time Ive visited, the drip coffee has been neither fresh nor bold. On the upside, the muffins we had were fantastic and my wife loved her complex fancy coffee beverage.
Waited at the counter (only ones in line) for several minutes without being acknowledged. Staff was too busy talking to a friend; left without ordering. This was after visiting the previous evening and having a wonderful experience, with attentive and helpful staff serving some of the best drinks Ive had.The drinks are great, the morning staff - not so much.
This review is for the Cookies and Cream Frappe.I stopped by this coffee shop my first time in Georgetown square and it is quite cozy although it does have a weird particular smell that would emit as you passed through the door. Walking in you are greeted by an assortment of chairs and lounging areas. Near the back you have a wide assortment of various mugs and cups that had graphics for the military and funny sayings and slogans as well as a wide range of syrups also available for purchase as well as coffee beans that are also available for purchase. The only thing I have tried here thus far was the cookie and cream frappe. It is covered with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. When I tasted it there were hints of chocolatey overtones with each sip and quite sweet. It did taste similar to cookies and creams ice cream but not quite. It seemed to be lacking something especially towards the end of the drink I started to find more and more that I couldnt drink anymore because of the overload of whipped cream.I would recommend it, but perhaps I will try something else the next time I come here.
Wonderful coffee house. Many fine selections for coffee, snacks and other drink options. Ambiance and energy a plus. Nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice as it has been the last few days. Staff attentive and friendly.
I love a local coffee shop and look for any excuse to pop into them. Cianfrani is never a disappointment. They have a great selection of homespun sweet lattes and of course all the classics you expect. They offer locally made treats including pastries, sandwiches and salads. You can bulk coffee as well, though I cant testify to the freshness as I havent bought any yet. The staff is friendly and welcoming.Oh, and of course free WiFi. Absolutely obligatory in a coffee shop in 2018.
I loved going here when I was an undergrad in Georgetown. Now, I visit much less frequently, but still come by every so often as I have family in GTown. The coffee and character are still about the same, but I no longer come here on weekends or in the evenings as they have live music that is frequently a) too loud and b) bad. So, if youre doing a weekday morning, great. Otherwise be forewarned.
Always great; this has been a favorite stop for years. Bought coffee to drink, and some for home. And some tasty baked goods are always tempting.
Yesterday my roommate and I visited the square for the first time. I was poetry happy to see the coffee shop. Seeing as I had never been here before, I wasnt sure what I wanted. I told the guy working the counter I had never been there before. He didnt make any suggestions, was inpatient and not in the least bit helpful. So to him, I say the thing to have done would have been to welcome me and offer suggestions. My last suggestion, show your customers youre happy they came in!
A exciting variety of coffee options, thrown on to a simplified menu. If youre into good detail about your coffee, they have that too. Scintillating coffee house atmosphere with a bold display of art for sale.If you are in Georgetown, get in here for the java... I will be a repeat customer and so should you.
Quaint coffee shop in antique Georgetown that offers a cool environment with interesting artisanal wares. The coffee was tasty and provided a variety of blends and syrup combinations. Staff was friendly and the seating was comfy. Good way to spend a lazy afternoon.
Had quick service but the drink was kinda lacking. I ordered the 12 oz. Snickers, and at $4, I wasnt expecting a whole heck of a lot but I felt like it was lacking. The chocolate and caramel was overpowered by the taste of espresso. Still, it was a warm drink on a cold day, maybe my next drink from there will have a more balanced flavor to it.
Great coffee and with very friendly staff. Every time I go there, I get a welcoming feeling of local neighborhood. See students from Southwestern University and local people enjoying their day there. Caramel Mocha and Hot chocolate are my favorite.
Delicious coffee, great coffeehouse ambiance. The only thing not perfect- they added made-to-order sandwiches to their menu, which is a plus, only the prices for the sandwiches are too high for a coffee shop. The sandwiches do not come with any sides..I had the basil mozzarella on foccacia and it was good, but too small and again, no sides. Not worth $8 in my opinion.
Great coffee, terrible service. We came in after dinner to get a coffee, and we could not have been forced out faster with us knowing by the server the place was closing in fifteen minutes. We did not plan on staying but service was rude. Not sure if we will be back even though the coffee was great.
My son and I love this coffee shop! You can go there to read a book or take a friend, either way youll feel right at home in this comfortable shop nestled on the Square in Georgetown. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful without being overbearing.
Hands down the best coffee in Georgetown!!!This place puts S.bucks to shame in not only the quality and taste of the drinks, but in the service as well! The employees are always friendly and having fun, they roast their own coffee IN the store (How cool is that?!?) and they even have pastries and parfaits :)My favorite drink is a Polar Bear, blended (Frappuccino), and usually a yogurt parfait as well.Delicious!!And not bad prices either :)
Coffee is good. But the front door is broken and everyone slams it or leaves it open.Told guy at counter but said he tried but could not fix it. So it stands wide open.
Not only excellent coffee but also a great selection of teas to choose from. Plenty of space to sit and read or to meet up with friends. Great local flavor on the Square in Georgetown!
Overall this is a nice coffee shop however I was a little turned off by all the handwritten signs stuck on the door things like no outside food and drink no public restrooms Etc when I see a business with these kinds of signs it really makes me wonder about their attitude towards customers. Frankly I think as a business owner you should be happy if someone walks through your store for any reason. You cant buy that sort of advertising.
Lacks costumer service. The products are a little pricey for the taste, we ordered two different hot chocolates and they both tasted like hot milk with sugar. The bathroom smelled horrible and it looked like a gas station bathroom. Some of the merchandise is nice, although the price was high. The experience was ok,but was expecting more for this part of town.
5/29/19 I’ve had the coffee before and it was good! It had been a while since I’ve been in so i decided to stop in for a treat and One boy in particular seemed to be annoyed that I asked how much the pastries are. His attitude wasn’t very pleasant. We left without making a purchase.
It’s ok, works on Sunday mornings which is a plus. But the coffee is mediocre and ladies who work there never smile or make you feel welcomed.Oh, and btw they don’t have changing tables in the restroom, which is very inconvenient to most parents with small kids.Don’t recommend their sandwiches: too expensive for something that you can easily buy in H-E-B. There too many good places in downtown of Georgetown to come here.
We have been going here for the last seven years. The drinks are good as well as the snacks. The friendly atmosphere makes us return. It reminds you a little bit like Cheers where everybody knows your name.
I previously gave this coffee shop a negative review, but was compelled to change it after my most recent visit. Theyve made a lot of positive changes, and I really enjoyed myself. They have a range of coffee drinks, brewed coffees, and desserts from Russells Bakery (must try the cinnamon roll). My only complaint is that they dont have whole milk. It seems they’ve forgone the bare necessities in favor of fancy nut milks. Maybe Im just late to the nut milk party, but I truly cherish a well-made whole milk latte.
Waited 13 minutes just to take my order with no one in front of me. They need to be better staffed.
Wonderful pastries and a variety of drinks. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. Its a lovely place to sit and people watch on the square or get some work done inside. Their wifi is quick and reliable.
Quaint coffee shop on the square in Georgetown Texas. Locals and visitors favorite. Usual coffee offerings however the Italian sodas are my favorite!
Nice mix of food and coffee or special smoothies. The live music was too loud for my liking, but staff are friendly, food tasty, coffee is fresh. The tea blends are fun!
Great local coffee shop. Way better than Starbucks!
It has to have, by far, the best mocha I have had in a long long time. The staff is really friendly, professional and fun to interact with. The coffee is good and reasonably priced. Their Madeleines are really good (It was my first time having one, but I am definitely going back for more). The place is really clean and cozy and offers a quiet non-intrusive environment for you to sit around.
Its great coffee. Wonderful customers & staff. Great place to grab coffee & hang.
Lots of seating inside and free wifi. Baristas are friendly and accommodate whatever youre in the mood for. Its right in the middle of downtown Georgetown so you can get a drink and stroll through town and the shops. Keep in mind if youre going on Sunday, most of the shops around town are going to be closed.
I love this place, I prefer their coffee to Starbucks, I like that its a local business and right on the square, but the staff are so friendly, and they have boba teas now! I really wish they would get taro tea, as that is the most common tapioca pearl tea, but Ill keep asking them to consider it.
