A really nice place and its connected to a diner. There are a lot of good books there. Along with other cool things like pins, stickers, jewelry, and more unique gifts.
I expected nothing but leftist literature and snobby salespeople but I was incredibly and pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and helpful staff and mixed in among the left-leaning books were plenty of more centrist titles. Ill definitely go back to this great bookseller whenever Im in Georgetown. Remember, though, this isnt a half-price place. Expect to pay full price unless you grab one of their $5 grab bags. I did and got a winner!
Wonderful little bookstore with its own special atmosphere. Even though we’ve been vaccinated, we’re always careful to mask up to protect ourselves and others with the delta variant spiking. Employees were all wearing masks, and they have a sign requesting customers do so as well. Glad to see Lark & Owl cares about their customers and employees. Definitely looking forward to coming in again soon.
I couldn’t love this bookstore more. The atmosphere feels good. Staff helpful. Lots of great gift options. Cafe. Patio. Plants. So much to enjoy here.
Grab a drink or snack at the bistro and browse the books. A very calm and peaceful experience. One of my favorite bookshops.
Love this place! The ni knacks, food, and ambiance! Definitely returning probably at night to enjoy some wine next.
Awesome bookstore, wish I had more cool places like this to visit around me. Loved the cafeteria area to chill and read books. I enjoyed their little nooks with great book selections
The door now posts a warning that children should wear masks, citing the CDC. Maybe Lark and Owl should actually read the stats from the CDC and get off the political soapbox. The CDC’s own numbers on infection rates do not support their latest mask statements on children. While I am vaccinated, I also believe in individual choice, freedom, and responsibility. If you are worried about getting the disease, get vaccinated. If you don’t get the vaccine, don’t force the rest of us or our children to protect you by masking up. These are not Texas values.
Absolutely adore Lark & Owl--it is for sure one of my happy places. Everyone who works there is amazing--always incredibly friendly and helpful. The Cafe is great. Always has community events going on. Can not recommend enough.
Overall a very nice book store to take your children too. They have a decent book selection. I had one bad experience with an overzealous worker at the front desk employee that turned me off from deal with her. Everyone else has been nice and helpful.
More than a book store! In addition to books... There is a bistro & gourmet tea area all tucked away behind the Monument Cafe. Staff is friendly & helpful. They offer a place for you to suggest book titles. Nifty reading nook for kiddos. LOTS of unique & miscellaneous merchandise. I found some items to be quite pricey.
Lark & Owl is a genuinely lovely bookstore. The bistro sells wonderful food, the selection of books is excellent, and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
So lovely! Many, many nice things, in a beautiful setting, with friendly and helpful staff.
Probably my favorite spot in Georgetown. Combining a bar/coffee shop with a bookstore is trouble for my bank account, but what an addition to Georgetown. I see this place being a social hub. Schemes will be hatched here. Folks will stumble upon books that’ll change their lives. Also, if they don’t have the book you’re seeking, Lark and Owl will order it. They also take suggestions. Really rad.
Excellent book shop and the Bistro inside is so cute and smells delicious 😋
Excellent selection of classic and contemporary books. Wonderful atmosphere. Queer friendly. Coffee shop inside.
The staff and owner at this bookstore are very helpful and just fun to talk to! If they don’t have the book you want, they will get it. They also have a wonderful selection of cards and gifts and a lovely cafe!
Book store was great! I just wish it wasnt $4 for a cup of coffee the size of a soda can. I also wish they had a bigger selection of coffee drinks. I would choose lark & owl over barns and nobles if they did. But they dont so they probably wont see me or the rest of my family again.
Fantastic local bookstore, bar, and restaurant. Fun vibe. Interesting and unique literary selections and gifts. Support your local bookstore!
I always have a great time visiting this place. Great funds and helpful staff.
This store is a gem! No other place in the area brings you books, book paraphernalia, coffee, drinks AND food, all in such an inviting atmosphere!
Such a fun spot! A book shop with novelties and a cafe that serves killer food, then shifts into an enjoyably quiet place for a drink in the evening. Ive spent several afternoons and a few evenings here, and am more enamored with it every time I come in. Yet, as good as all that is, the people here are the best part. I havent had a single interaction that hasnt been, at the absolute least, enjoyable and pleasant. However, the bar stands at excellent, engaged, and amusing. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to make a dull day excellent.
This is a well-put together bookstore with a great selection. The poetry section leans contemporary and includes a diverse group of poets. The atmosphere is nice and the temperature checks and support of masking made sure that my family and I felt safe and secure. The bistro is great, making Lark & Owl a complete Saturday outing.
Shame on you Lark and Owl for putting politics over our children. Face muzzling our children is not the answer. About 340 people under the age of 17 out of a sub-population of 74 million have died of covid. Most of whom had significant comorbidities. More people have died of pneumonia and the flu. All of these statistics were pulled directly from the cdc website. Unfortunately, the cdc has become politicized and is no longer following their own data. I would think a bookstore would be good at reading statistics but I guess not. I will take my children elsewhere to learn to think for themselves.Lark and Owl’s posting to customers:“In accordance with cdc guidelines we strongly recommend face masks for ALL CUSTOMERS. Especially children.”
First, almost gave 4 stars because no used books. Its not a breaking point but sure would be nice. Their new collection is great, you can tell its hand picked and the inside is amazing. There is a cafe and bar, plenty of areas to sit. Kids area is very cool and safe. Reminds me of Fox Books from Youve Got Mail. Yes Fox books, not the Little Shop Around The Corner. Nice collection of local crafts as well. Drove 30 minutes to basically check it out and the staff made it worthwhile. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
What a great little gem this place is! I had heard about it from a couple of friends and was finally able to take the time to visit. This place is more than just books! Its filled with wonderful gifts, treasures, and knick knacks. My friend and I do the occasional girls night (away from kids) and always pick up a little something to commemorate the time spent. All over this shop they have what the staff told us were decommissioned books from the Dallas Library which have been cut into letters, shapes and symbols. We wondered every shelf and picked up a letter for each of our names (picture attached). The cafe was great as were the staff. My latte was awesome but we didnt try any of the food since we already had dinner elsewhere. We sat down in the corner of the very large L shaped booth filled with these adorable buttons in each tufft! The tables are easy to move around if you have a larger group. And the bathrooms: as a mom, I ALWAYS appreciate a facility that supplies baby changing products to their customers. Mine are no longer in diapers but I find it to be a very convenient and a refreshing gesture.Everything was clean, in its place and well put together. I cant wait to come back!
I love to visit bookstores all over the world and this one reminds me of that perfect bookstore in a corner somewhere in London. They have everything! The employees are super knowledgeable and always willing to help. I highly recommend this bookstore! You will be glad you went there.
Perfect combination of coffee, wine, books and ambience! So cozy!
Beautiful little bookstore. Clean, cool stocked with helpful, friendly people.
Great local bookstore with a lovely bar. The kid’s section is very sweet as well.
I love having an independent bookstore in town! Its always a joy to browse around, even if I dont have a purchase in mind. But of course they stock an excellent selection of books and gifts which makes it difficult to leave without a little something new in hand. :)
Interesting selection. Welcoming.
Cute little store, I love their book recommendation tags. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well.
Great Indy bookstore in Georgetown, super kind and helpful staff!
This café/bookstore is a delightful addition to the Georgetown scene. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious – and the menu offers unique dishes if you’re looking to try something new. It is so fun to shop around the bookstore while you wait for your food to be prepared. A great atmosphere for gathering!
This is one of the best bookstores Ive ever visited. Such a wonderful selection of titles in a space that is always comforting and never overwhelming. Their coffee bar is quaint, with a nice selection of offerings. But my favorite part is the childrens section, which has a small play area perfect for kids, including a little reading nook. Id give this place six stars if I could!
Staff was helpful and I found the books needed quickly. Lots of local crafts and interesting community concept. Be sure to check for hours due to Covid restrictions.
The atmosphere is inviting, the staff is delightful. I always find something perfect. Its my favorite local shop.
Super cool store. Exactly the type of business Georgetown needs!
Whole family enjoys Lark and Owl! Fun selections friendly staff and cool stuff
Your friendly, neighborhood eclectic bookstore. Lots of various authors and timely publications. Worth a look-see for sure.
Best BookStore ever! Seriously, where else can you have a Bloody Mary and peruse new books and whatnot? I mean, others have coffee, why not a full bar? That aside, the vibe in here is amazing, reminds me of 20 years ago when this is how you bought books -- *and we liked it* (nod to SNL)! Neat knickknacks and food snacks too.
Absolutely beautiful bookstore and bistro. The atmosphere and aesthetics of Lark & Owl are superb. This book shop has amazing books, gifts and handmade jewelry, bags, mugs, magnets, pins, baby clothes.. omg. And the bar/coffee shop was amazing. We had a pulled pork sandwich on fresh homemade bread with a pickled onions and jalapeños... And a real watermelon fresca! It was all delicious! And every employee was so wonderfully sweet and refreshing. This place is a gem.
Beautiful friendly bookstore, filled not only with reading matter but gifts too. I love visiting the place!
Staff is ALWAYS friendly and warm - youll be welcomed in as you enter. Book selection is spectacular, great local-interest reads available as well. Bistro and cafe are both excellent, alcoholic beverage options are delicious. Kids area is a really nice touch. Its always nice to visit L&O - great addition to Georgetown! I agree with other reviews that a section/selection of gently used books would be nice, but cant possibly dock a star for it because every visit really is that excellent.
An honest-to-goodness independent bookstore. I really enjoyed this place, a nice variety of titles to browse and fantastic service. A must for people who like to choose their books by their covers. ;)
Excellent bookstore with a good selection of books and gifts. Friendly and helpful staff. A very valuable addition to the community!
This store is adorable and in addition to books has tons of unique and fun gifts (even if they are gifts for yourself!!). I usually come here for meetings and the tables are comfortable and the place is not loud. Unfortunately theyve stopped serving their full menu every evening, but if youre there when they are serving it their frito pie is the best thing ever!!! They also have great hot drink options (lattes, cappuccinos, tons of tea options, etc). Parking is super easy at least on week nights. Definitely great for a study or meeting group.
Great food! Wonderful idea of supporting special needs adults and give them a purposes and sense of accomplishment.
Cozy little neighborhood bookstore. I love the small-town feel and the knick knacks for sale. The book selection itself is pretty limited, but thats to be expected with a small bookstore. I can say I always find something I want when I visit.
Not face friendly, taking my business elsewhere.
Amazing book selection and vibe.
I loved the selection of books and other wares. I cant wait to bring my kids in to peruse the kids corner and book selection. I also loved the cozy cafe area. The bistro serves tasty drip coffee, if a little overpriced. The prices for crafted espresso beverages seemed spot on though. I will have to try those next time, along with the food.
I went to see the vision of freedom, himself, Mat Best.Definitely get his book, Thank You For My Service. You wont regret it.But this is about the bookstore. Its in a beautiful little town. And its the embodiment of a dream bookstore. It has a kids play area in the form of cool little crew space play tunnels. AND it has an adult play area in the form of a FULL liquor bar. So its amazing. It has a good selection of books, you could definitely spend some time and money. If not for the books or liquor then for the novelty items (pun intended). They have things for both men and women in there from cute to sassy, and from savage to gentleman. The employees are very kind, resourceful, and as helpful as they could possibly be.Honestly, this is the bookstore that everyone wishes was in their town. If we are ever back down in Georgetown 12/10 we will be back to Lark & Owl.
This is my new favorite bookstore!
Fantastic staff, quick to help and answer questions. Cute store with so much more than books to explore
Such a cute place and lots to look at. The employees couldnt be nicer.
Great little find in Georgetown with a well-curated collection, helpful staff, and good drinks. Great gift ideas. Plus, an outdoor area, kids nook, and lots of places for good conversation. Will definitely visit again!
Love this place. Best place to have a book club - open tables that can fit about a dozen people, easily accessible bar, shop while you wait for it to start. Imaginatively curated items, such a wonderful atmosphere. Have tried all the cocktails and love them all, try the coffee one! I found my favorite perfume there. The owners are passionate about making this place work and are wonderful to talk to. Cant say enough good things about this place.
Knowledgeable staff, great coffee and craft cocktails. Havent tried the food options - look forward to doing so in the future when we return for the pleasant atmosphere. Book prices are a little high compared to chains but the overall experience makes this place a favorite spot for my wife and I.
Very neat an unique place. Everyone who offered help or checked us out were as fun and as friendly as the place itself. Best selection of socks I have ever come across. Visit them just to look around, you wont be disappointed!
I just moved to Waco from Georgetown and I miss this bookstore so much! Went for a much needed visit today. ☺
Great new idea for a local hangout. Good coffee and respectable beer selection. Book selection is small, but eclectic enough to be interesting. Nice vibe, already seems to be gathering a following. Pleasant place to stop on the way in to work and again on the way home.
Such a great spot in downtown Georgetown! Lovely bookstore vibe! Perfect for gathering with friends or business meetings. Beer and craft cocktails + bistro food offerings to enjoy in the adjacent outdoor seating area. Wide selection of books and gifts!
For the Bistro side of the book store. The good: Simi-Hip eclectic color decor with a flair of circa 50s green cream bench seating in main side of the Bistro. Centrally located to downtown. Very friendly staff. Appears to have a large option of adult beverages. I understand they are bringing in a chef for an expanded menu offering. The Cons: Does not open until 9:am. Coffee more expensive compared to other downtown locations. Did not notice a difference in the quality of flavor for the price of a cup. However my refill, warm up was at no charge, ...something not seen at the other bistro locations. No power strips available within the main, bar and secondary dining area. A few power outlets below the far window bench seats. Limited assortment of quality pastries.Im looking forward to seeing how this location continues to evolve.-Best Wishes
I love this store! Its about time Georgetown had a great, locally-owned bookstore! I have found everything Ive needed here, as well as some great little unique items.
They not only have books, stationary, but also a Bistro. I order the Chai, hot or cold, its a 4 out of 5. Their chocolate chip cookies are great, if you get there early enough to get one :)The books... Very good selection.More later on that.
Great addition to the downtown Georgetown area. Coffee was delicious, and the bookstore is set up in a nice laid back and welcoming way. There is a great selection of local artists and books to peruse, and I look forward to coming back to try some of their food selections.
I love this little gem. I had lunch here the other day too and the daily soup and turkey sandwich were great. Its a great place to grab a cup of coffee and browse the selection of books.
Temperature check, hand sanitizer 😁Books are well placed abd great selection.
LOVE the book selection! Especially the kids section. So many great options that I have never seen in a store before! And the coffee - hands down the best Ive had in months!
Great bookstore with helpful staff and lots of other fun items. Nice place to browse and have a drink or two. Food is tasty too.
Terrible staff super rude wow just avoid
Excellent independent bookstore! The store is beautifully arranged and the book selection is good. Kids will love the fun childrens area. Lots of unique gift items are available and a cute little bistro is part of the store offering snacks and drinks. Great areas for working, wifi and/or conversation. Georgetown, Texas has needed this for a long time!
Fantastic bookshop! Customer service was lovely and store is amazing!
Super cute store. Popped in here while waiting for a table next door. Great kids reading book book. Nice selection and cafe too.
Awesome bookstore. Interesting selection, cool ambience, nice people.
Great bookstore! Lots of books and little extras, and friendly staff
Such a varied and large selection of books and some great bookish gifts! The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful. The kids area is p. e. r. f. e. c. t. Ill be back for a nosh and a drink at the Cafe!
While the in-store selection of books per genre is small, the staff is extremely helpful and can order books directly from the warehouse. The novelty items for sale around the store are cute and affordable. The bar is the back has a wide selection of craft beers, as well as liquor and wine. Full kitchen to open soon!
Nice warm feeling in the store and great coffee and food
Super nice people and amazing books
Love, love, love Lark and Owl.
Great selection. Super friendly people. Really beautiful interior. Great (and sometimes delightfully sweary) gift selection. Owned by local women. Loved it!
Their veggie sandwich with beets and arugula is the BOMB. Love grabbing one during a meeting, drinking an almond milk cortado and having good conversation. What a great little shop
FANTASTIC! I found a new independent book store to spend my money in!! So friendly, personable, and just feels warm when you walk in. New happy place for this book dragon. 📚🐲🤗
