My father took his car in due to a loss in power steering. A-1 charged $112 for a diagnosis and quoted $4,000 in repairs (parts and labor). The repairs were for replacing everything related to the steering. Googling the error codes, the error codes all referenced a faulty electronic power steering control module. But the A-1 quote was for a whole steering system replacement -- even mechanical parts that were not part of the issue revealed by the error codes. After my father checked all the cables going to the electronic power steering control module for opens and shorts (none found), we decided to replace the electric power steering control module. We purchased a replacement from eBay for $182. It took about 30 mins to replace this part. My fathers fixed his own car and saved himself $4,000.

They diagnosed my car needing a new blower motor. I worked with Greg. He made caulks right in dint of me and gave me a price. Part was ordered from a Round Rock dealership. Called a few days later since I had not heard from him. He said they dont deliver. Its the one in south Austin and he would have to go get it. But I had called that dealer myself and they didntt have one. So I felt like he was confused. Then he said it would be there at 9am and for me to be there around then. I called around noon to find out if the blower motor had made it to them yet and he said no let me call and check on it. So he did that and then he came back to me and said that it would be there within an hour. I asked what the total would be and he quoted me $25 more then what he did just a few days prior. And I asked him what the breakdown was and he tells me that the dealer did not quote him the right price originally oh, that it was $25 more for the part. And then he started copping an attitude with me saying that hes losing money on this job anyway. Even though Im paying the difference on the part and never suggested he come down on the price. I didnt understand why he said that to me or even to a customer at all but it wasnt warranted. And I politely said well I was just trying to understand how you came up with that price. Thats all and he said well Im losing money on this job so if you dont want it then Ill send it back in fact I would rather send it back instead of lose money on a job. I have no idea where his attitude came from but I thought it was rude as hell so I told him to send it back I wasnt doing business with him. And I wont. He had no reason to be rude like that and make up a story like he was losing money.Edit: response to business reply below. With all due respect, this was not a miscommunication. I understand mistakes and miscommunications. We are human. It happens. THIS was clearly poor and inexcusable customer service. I was polite, cordial and patient in all of my dealings with A1 up until that very last comment Greg made to me. He was clearly confused and maybe flustered. I got the work done the following day through another shop and I cannot tell you how much relieved I was to just have a cut and dry, simple transaction after trying to give A1 my business.

Greg, Earl, and Jerry were amazing!! I brought my SUV to three other dealerships and A1 was the only dealership that could diagnose my car correctly. I highly recommend A1 and will never go to another dealership!!!

My low tire light came on, and A-1 was right over the IH35 bridge. Have used them before so when I pulled in. Jerry the owner asked what I needed, told him the tire pressure, not only did he fill, but he also checked the others. He did not charge me nor would he accept any money. Highly recommend A-1 for your vehicle!

Really great, fair, and honest.My wife was driving our minivan last weekend, and broke down in the middle of the night just outside of Jarrell. We live over 200 miles away from there, so there was no easy way to deal with the breakdown. I had my car towed to A1, and told them the situation. A guy came in on a Saturday to do the repair, when he usually doesnt. They communicated with me each step of the way, and the price was extremely fair. I was totally exposed - no options, no nothing, totally stuck. A lot of mechanics would gouge a guy in my position, but A-1 absolutely did not. Im really grateful for them for fixing the vehicle at such a reasonable price, and outside of their normal operating hours.This is a really good shop. Id recommend them to anyone.

Based on the reviews I brought my truck to get the A/C checked out. I asked them to do a leak check before doing any work to make sure I could afford getting it fixed. They called me back and let me know it was just a valve leaking and nothing was wrong with the compressor. They said they could fix it for around $300 and I agreed. The next day the A/C stopped working so I took it back in and they found another leak, which they should have found the first time. The next day they said it was fixed. I drove it off the lot and 10 mins it wasnt working. I took it back and they kept it another day. This time they said it was the compressor and it would cost another $500 to fix on top of the $300 I already paid. If they would have told me it would cost close to $1000 in the beginning I would have said thats OK and drove without A/C, but now Im out $300 and still have no A/C. This place is such a rip off. I googled how to check for leaks and found a video on how to do it. Bought some gauges, freon and a new compressor and fixed it my self. All from a YouTube video. If I can do it from a video then these guys should have been able to detect the leak and let me know a price before charging me to fix a so called leak and recharge for $300. Dont trust the reviews and stay away.

I realized it was going to be an excellent experience since I entered the office of Mr. Mogford. He was very polite and not only provided for me the service I needed, but his people checked some other things in my van and made sure it was good for a long trip that I was going to make in 2 days. From now on this is going to be the place where I will take my vehicle for any repair and maintenance; and I already recommended it to my son.
