This place is pretty amazing whether you’re a regular customer or a truck driver they have just about everything you can imagine from a nice restaurant Pizza Hut travel travel store Taco Bell and even a Verizon wireless as well as lots of stuff inside. The bathrooms in the store in general or super clean which is pretty impressive considering the amount of people that probably come through here daily and I noticed that there are respecting the social distancing and mask mandate as well if you’re passing through I highly recommend you stop and take a peek.

Very clean and polite. But every food place is closed at 9 pm on a Saturday. Trucker appreciation at its finest. They are also missing 6-9 pumps close to building which is very inconvenient

The worst truck stop ever!! Taco Bell and Pizza Hut has the worst employees. Ate here and got food poisoning. Never again. Shower was not clean and it had a bad smell.

Not sure what I expected in Gary, IN.Rude staff at Taco Bell, Pizza Hut closed. Shower was ok and attendants were helpful. As a team driver food is important especially on long tiring days I do decide I wanna eat fast food. Well gonna have to mark this Petro off the list.

This place has a whole cooler of country fresh meats. I sure do like country fresh Meats and their cheese! But this place doesnt have any prices for any of the meats and cheeses in this cooler. I will never buy anything I cant see a price for. And I encourage everyone to refuse to buy anything without a price. Either they are too lazy to price these items? Or they are so outrageously priced, they wont put the prices out? PS if they had prices I would have bought some!

Bought the cheese and sausage out of the deli area and pieces of the cheese was melted and hard as a rock. Went I tried to return it I didnt even care if I got a refund I just wanted them to know that it was unsellable and that they should tend to that. The I guess manager anitia was completely rude and hateful. The cashier didnt give the receipt. When we tried to fill up our truck with diesel the pumps didnt even work. I wouldnt give this place one star. We will be going else where no matter the fuel prices now.

Iron skillet not open at 14:25 on a Sunday. But its OK to let drivers pack into the theater. Taco bell is the only option available. Dont be surprised when drivers stop driving because they cant eat somewhat healthy.

Loved it! Very big inside and outside! Lots of parking!! Two cat scales. They actually keep the place clean.

Shower lacking. One towel one washcloth and floor mat. Missing extra towel and hand towel. No soap in dispenser in shower. TA/PETRO promote 2 towels, hand towel, washcloth, and a mat. Plus soap in shower. Well not at this location.Plus it doesn’t help the water from the shower pools in front of the sink.

Super clean store. Big parking lot. Great shop. Clean bathrooms and showers. The employees here are very nice. They put up with a lot of crazy people and they do it well. Coffee is fresh. This is not really a quick in and out stop. You could spend about 29 minutes in here easy. It’s not long lines. It’s the food isn’t really grab and go. Getting in and out is pretty easy but the fuel pumps are usually pretty busy. It is a whole lot better than going to exit 6.

Was going to buy a external speaker but when I walked up to the counter the gal went into the TV room so I left it in the fruit display and walked out

I want to shout out to LaTanya the team member who did an outstanding and exceptional job to make sure the showers and laundry areas were clean. I observed her cleaning the tops, inside, and fronts of the washers and dryers, even the lint screens. I usually have to ask someone to clean the laundry area before I wash my clothes at other truck stop chains.Also, as she cleaned the showers she did a thorough job. I noticed her interactions with other team members discussing the tasks at hand and she stepped up to get the job done.She is hard working and I hope she is rewarded for her dedication and work ethics.7 stars for clean showers and laundry area.

Holiday or not, pandemic or not it is INEXCUSABLE to not have a single dining option open to professional drivers. We are essential workers after all. I used to purchase over 500 gallons of fuel here per month....used to. No more stopping here for ANY reason

It would be a nice place to put a truck stop stopped in on Tuesday 10/24/17 had Chicken n hot dog on the Buffet REALLY . Manager said tomorrow we’re having TACOS 😳 On the Buffet? Been there 4 times now . Nice showers even though counter n sinks are falling off the walls they’re not as SNOBBY as they were in the beginning. Haven’t been back to the shop since they opened wrong filters after he filled them . Stopped another time to get Frt tire rotation 1 was 30 oz out was told tire coming apart but their built for that 🙄. After I made my Delivery had new tires put on in Chicago. So in all for me just a fuel n shower Stop . Over at Denny’s having breakfast now

The restaurant is only open Monday-Friday. The mosquitos are hell of horrible. Could hardly stand outside long enough to let the dogs do their thing because we were getting ate up so badly!!

Why you would charge a driver whos out here to earn a living $18 to park is beyond me. This company should be ashamed of themselves.

Every booth that wasnt closed because of covid had trash and or dishes. The waitress i spoke with was more concerned with getting her tip off another table then taking something with her so a customer could sit down

Woman working refuses to serve you if you are not wearing a mask. Due to my asthma I did not have one on. I ask to purchase something and she revised. No problem and no need for the officer to put his 2 cents in, rude and unprofessional. My money worked just fine at the Loves across the street.

Yall need to atop leaving these bread sticks out for 20 minutes and still trying to sell emm. If I wanted seasoned rocks I could jut grab some pepper and go outside. Do better.

This place need a remodel.

Employees all have bad attitudes. Got sick from their Taco Bell within 20 mins of eating my food from there. They have police inside and security driving around the parking lot so it must not be a safe place to be at.

Quick stop in for fuel and a bite to eat. Ladies restroom was nice and clean, lady running fuel island was really nice along with store clerk. Taco bell was was quick and good as well.

This location will forever lose my business as a truck driver.. They close the fitness centre with drivers have an opportunity to exercise.. when you question as to why the location is close over other TA locations.. You get an extremely rude response from the manager.. And they use covid as an excuse when all other gyms in the area are opem smfh.. and they have to come to u with an armed guard.. to tell u..not to mention last time i ate at there resturant food and service was horrible the hell with them .. and all thier paid parking spots to skip this location if u care about ur health as a driver and good service

Drive 🚚s and was starving even after having several terrible experiences I still stopped. Most of the time my taco shells are in most cases soggy at the top and stail at the top. This time since I was sick of that experience i got a personal al veggie pan pizza which tasted like straight cleaning products. So hungry I tried to push through and just eat it but couldnt. The employees are always rushing off to take breaks leaving the other trying to be hardworking employees to fend for themselves. Nasty attitudes, unorganized, and unprofessional. Id rather starve on my truck then stop here again.

Not a bad stop. Customer service has good and bad days as anyone will. I just wish they’d salt the parking lot before it ices over. So many truckers playing musical parking and ice skating. It’s not safe.

The truck lot is EXTREMELY CLEAN. Security is constantly on patrol to keep out the Riff Raff. The C-store employees are friendly and helpful. The Iron Skillet cooks know how to make your meal right & the wait staff are AWESOME. If 10 stars were available I would give it. Plenty of room for pets to run around w/ a walking trail on the NE side of lot by garage.

Salad bar was freshly stocked, missing a few items but good overall. Wait staff was excellent. Gilled chicken breast with mushrooms, spinach, and smothered in Swiss cheese was very tasty and juicy. Cashier was very friendly same with the ladies in the store and fuel counter. Bathrooms were clean and tidy as always. Still had parking when we arrived after it had been dark for about 3 hours so plenty of parking. Great experience overall. Ive been to Petros and other trucks tops all over the country because thats what these are not gas stations and this was a nice one. I dont know what all the negativity is about. If you give people a bad vibe you will receive it in return so go in any business with a clear mind and youll get what you receive. My husband got the country fried steak but couldnt eat it all because it was so big but enjoyed it. The only thing is they didnt have Coke products.

Great Petro in a rough town. Kudos to them. Clean, bright, interesting design and decorations, good music playing, good food options, staff was a joy, etc. Best truck stop in the Gary area.

Would have been higher rating, but I don’t have time to sit and chat with salesmen approaching me before I even enter the store. Polished vagrants! Drivers are dodging the people the best we can at shady truck stops. Putting designer clothing and a sharp haircut doesn’t change the effect.

Nice place to go unfortunately tho I was there for 24 hrs and not once did they clean the womens BATHROOM COULD TELL CAUSE the on stall was nasty and it was like that the whole time. Never changed.

It saddens me, all the truck drivers out on the roads on Thanksgiving trying to get the goods delivered and missing a family dinner. When they get to a truck stop to try and get something to eat there is nothing open for them to at least have a decent meal.Not even a hot dog. This is a disgrace to all the men and women that keep this county moving.🤬

Although some light were out in the restroom, the facilities are nice and clean. The workers could use a dose of professionalism. Waitress was great in the iron skillet restaurant, but the made to order food was less than desirable. All in all, I’d return but only long enough to use the restroom!

I get that masks are required but when I have a medical issue that prevents me from wearing one isnt acceptable when otherwise following social distancing you need to reevaluate how youre handling the situation. Guess that means if I were to pass out because of my condition while wearing one in your store I can sue you specifically for insisting on it? This is why I avoided the public in general even before the pandemic

Very long time to clean the shower. The application contains 3 minutes of waiting. As a result, I spent one hour !!!!!

First and last trip here ever.. Weve parked our personal car in front of our semi at truck stops hundreds of times over the last 3 years.. My car was parked in front of the truck, out of the way of others, for several hours when someone knocked on the door at 11:30 PM telling us to move it or it would be towed.. First of all its 11:30 AT NIGHT! Why didnt you tell us to move it when I first pulled up several hours ago? Or I dont know, tell me not to park it overnight here? This is not a trucker spouse friendly environment.. I have never had to move my car and never had any issues until tonight.. We dont like our car to be so far from our truck so nothing happens to it.. Will not be visiting this Petro, or possibly and others, ever again.. Ive seen other personal cars in this lot tonight taking up an actual truck space but yet we parked in front of his truck and out of the way of everyone? Pathetic!

Been in the service bay for 23:49 hours. I would have been out of here sooner if ( Justin ) works behind the counter in the shop. Would have said my part was here. Good luck in the evening, at the service counter Big Trucks. Mechancs are fast and reliable.

Great truck stop with security. Its in a shady area but security stays on top of the riff raff for the most part you just got to watch yourself after dark. They have Taco Bell, Pizza Hut,and the Iron Skillet inside. They also have sandwiches and corn dogs amongst other things in the convenience store area. Theres two TV rooms and a Verizon phone store here also. This place is huge and has most everything you need to be comfortable while on the road. They also have a huge shop for tires and repairs which from my experience is decent. The parking lot is way bigger than most other truck stops. Its clean inside and surprisingly clean outside too. This is how all truck stops should be.

One of the easiest places to weigh, park, and leave. We only come here in the wee hours of the night, so its pretty quiet. The ladies at the fuel desk have always been friendly with me even when you can tell their shift has been cruddy. Nice store with a decent selection of drinks and fair prices.

Nice place to stop for gas and snacks to eat and they had very clean restrooms.

Me and my boyfriend stopped here because our tire had a leak and they had exactly what we needed. The employees were every nice and helpful. The building is very nice and spacious. We decided to freshen up and try the showers.they were in excellent condition. They provided towels and soap. It was a very nice experience and I recommend stopping by

Good place, very nice amenities. No major potholes to swallow someones axles. Lets hope we can keep it that way. Security is provided, though it is still a stones throw away from the projects of Gary. Extra vigilance is highly recommended.

Service is good in the shop. Meatloaf is great on the hot bar. Plenty of parking and clean lot.

No food or showers, better to keep driving than bother with thos place.

Petro, you can get a good deal depending on what you are looking for. Stopped here about a year ago and my wife took our 2 year old into the bathroom, waited outside the stall and watched hookers changing clothes. So it seem to be a good place if you are looking for that kind of service station. The gas, it made my car go down the road. Nothing to write home about, unless your mom wants to hear about hookers and if that the case you have bigger problems than where your next gas stop is.

Can usually find parking. The Iron Skillet was too notch tonight here. Other locations could take a page from their buffet book. It was beautifully staged and the food was really good. I had an attentive waitress. You know Iron Skillets can be hit or miss. This one and the one in Bordentown NJ, got it together. It was nice to come in and have a fresh meal made out of real food. Good job.

Stopped here a couple of nights ago really tired. The ladies working cashier in the store and cleaning up were great. Their friendly smiles, attitude and conversation had me feeling much better by the time I left. Thanks so much! It had been a tough night up till then. They were just a friendly to the other drivers in front of me checking out.Great to see there is still true customer service with a smile out here.

Decent parking most of the time. The safest of the truck stops in the area.The Skillet is one of the better across the nation. Usually a pretty good buffet, nice staff. Pizza Hut and Taco Bell across the hallway.Newer showers. Usual game room, but this one has Guitar Hero! 2 driver lounges, one even has a fireplace. 4 washers and 6 dryers. If theyre all working off course. They even have a fitness room. Which I didnt go in because Im a unhealthy driver. The Verizon store is a little outdated, but it does make it so you have better options on wireless accessories.Lots of really cool and unique decor. As this location used to be called Steel City, there is a lot of industrial revolution style decorations. Nice pictures with foundries and steel mills.Every employee I interacted with was super nice and efficient. Which is a rarity in todays truck stops.

This is my second visit that wasnt credited properly on the buy 6 meals get 7th meal free promotion. The manager came out to fix it the first time, and it still didnt credit my visit. It happened again today, same cashier. If youre going to run a promotion that requires the cashier to input information, they should be trained on how to do it properly. Pretty sad

Purchased a steer tire rim in Morris,IL at TA. Drove to Gary,IN Petro to have torque checked within 50-100 miles. Only had one guy on duty and he was busy with 6 tires and had no time. So much for driver safety. To hell with TA and Petro and Homer Hogg..

Was broke down 26th of Nov. The service crew at petro were awesome there help was greatly appreciated from rosie, Erik, and the gentleman that drove me for the part to get me there before 8 o clock. When people work as a team things get done cant say enough for getting us going the same night. Great people you all get a YEE HA! From us.

Trying to do a b service and the black lady running the desk needs a class for customer service. Tried to answer her questions she was absent minded and when asked a give or take how long. I dont know was the answer I got. I know the length of pm service but the wait times I dont know... calling corporate on monday.. just a beware warning. Will update further issuses after service

The best place to park anywhere near here. Super clean inside and out, lots of lighting, security patrol, lots of parking, big heated outdoor area for smokers, friendly staff, feels very safe compared to Loves across the road or those dumps on Burr Ave ( T/A - Pilot ). Had a good meal at Iron Skillet and the service was excellent.

Not sure about the fuel or food, but the employees here are friendly, and Ive been watching them work hard the whole time Ive been doing my laundry. The shower attendants are steadily doing laundry and cleaning the showers, and even came through the driver laundry room to disinfect and clean in here. There are 2 CAT scales and lots of parking spaces, although you may have to walk quite a ways to the building if you havent reserved a spot. There is a security guard on duty as well, so Im hoping that allows me to sleep without our door getting knocked on tonight! I would definitely return here!

This is one of my favorite stops. Just be careful who is around you when walking in the parking lot. Kind of a bad neighborhood. The buffet is good.

Ordered my food. Food came no silverware, no napkins. Food was fresh but just warm. I could understand it being this way if it was packed and busy, but it was slow. So there is no excuses. Waitress was nice but slow. I did get photos but they were takin while I was on facebook, and did not go into my album. Or I would of posted the photos. Food was good, a nice presentation clean, appetizing.I ordered the one pound steerburger with gravy, no onions, freedom fries. It was very good.But kinda discouraging about no silverware. I was at a booth, so I graded silverware from the counter as she(waitress watched, but she never said a word or came and asked anything.I can and will say this. This place is usually very busy, popping running ragged, but the crew is usually top notch. The food is always top notch, really good. I havent been in here for at least 1 - 1 1/2 years. This place is dead. Hardly any customers at all. Lucky if there is 12 people here. The place is not that clean at allNot dirty but there is straw wrappers on the floor that have not been picked up, water on floor, not mopped up, accident waiting to happen.

Well this is the flagship of what Petro it has become. It is a very well laid-out facility. No doubt about it. It is very clean it has a unique feel to it. The staff are very friendly and considerate, I think they must be well taken care of here. Although the fuel island is a bit difficult to use because they did not put the fuel desk in the center of the islands which would make much better sense so the driver has to walk a distance back and forth especially tax exempt status for fueling. Yes it takes two walking trips to fuel your truck from the pumps to the fuel desk. If anyone has ever been here this place was not Petro previously and I cant remember who operated in the past I think it was in Ambest maybe? It is a very large parking lot and the facility is located in 1 corner which puts the furthest parking spot I would say almost a half a mile away ... They should have centered the facility in the center that makes sense but I guess they had the reasons to not do that. But they did pay attention to other details such as providing overhead heating in the outdoor walked in areas for when the weather is crappy. The restaurant is under good management. The menu was very variety thought out. Offering healthier choices for the driver. I also showered and the attendants were considerate... abundance of towels soap they made the experience almost close to home thank you what was pretty neat was that they seem to take care of the driver to bring you closer to home anyhow very good movie room and then a separate TV area for watching the game or whatever else may be on TV. I am a driver who has been exercising the past two years to stay active and healthy Petro offers a small fitness center. The machines i used ...it was very convenient for me rather than going to the local YMCA... kudos!

Regarding the shop. Could have been in and out in 2hrs instead of 3 1/2 if tech would have stayed at the truck instead of walking around and chatting.
