My husband and I had a horrible experience trying to buy a car here. We were there for quite a while (15 mins +) before a salesman came over to us and asked do you need something?. He then told us that the car we were looking at was expensive so you should look at something else. When we insisted that we were interested in that specific car, he kept asking questions about whether we had seen the price (about $50,000), and whether we could afford that. He kept suggesting that we go look at second hand cars that were cheaper and a better fit for you. From the start we had said that this car was well within budget. We ended up leaving and driving to a Mercedes dealership who were more than happy to sell us a new SUV, which we purchased on the spot. For those of you reading this wondering whether we turned up horribly presented or something similar that would suggest we couldnt afford a new car... no we turned up driving a range rover and wearing smart casual clothing. Its pretty hard to blow a lay down sale, but this dealership accomplished it!

Ive trying to get a VW for some time, I thought this was the right time, but no.First of all, I understand theres a lack of cars because chips shortage, but they literally had nothing but few used cars and a lot of SUVs. Im not looking for a SUV.Hugo and Ray were nice, they even put a fair offer for my current car. The idea was to make a trade.Problem came with the finance guy. He was asking for a down payment of $8,000!! He was practically asking for around the 35% of the car price only for a down payment. Come on, thats ridiculous.2 stars because as I said, Hugo and Ray were nice and honest to me, even Hugo told me this down payment amount was absurd. Hope they can get better finance guys.

I was very disappointed with their customer service. First of all the guy that helped me didn’t even tell me his name when he came to us. Second, i drove an hour and a half because I was interested in that specific vehicle and I wasn’t even able to test drive it without running my credit first. I told him I wanted to see how it drives before running any numbers on it but I wasn’t even given the chance to do so. I was willing to put $10,000 down but how am I supposed to do that if I don’t even know if I like how it drives? Not to mention it was a USED car with over 40,000 miles on it. It makes no sense. And also my father had went in a couple hours before to look at it before I headed out there and was waiting in the hot sun for almost 20 minutes and not one single person went to help him. I will definitely not be returning.

Please do not and I repeat do not purchase a car from this dealership! We were visiting our daughter and her husband and decided to go do a test drive on a car that we were looking into buying. Turned out we decided to go ahead with the purchase. Our sales person was Chris Kelly. We had him send us the price of the car via email and agreed to go in for a test drive. Our daughter and her husband were with us as we discussed the terms of the purchase. Chris Kelly went over the details as we all sat there. Since we didnt have our checkbook with us and the bank had closed, we signed the purchase agreement and returned the following day with our checkbook. We went directly to the Finance Department and dealt with David Keefe. My husband specifically asked him to confirm that we were NOT paying for anything extra. He had us sign all of the paperwork digitally. This is where they took advantage of us. After we received the hard copies, we realized that they hadI had charged us for Perma Plate at an outrageous price. When I inquired Chris Kelly simply told me that all their cars have that. The dealership is not accountable, and should take their own responsibilities. We experienced extremely unethical business practice as well as unprofessional customer service there. We really regret buying the car there. This is a dealership is known for awful reputation and doesnt care as long as they stick it to their customers. We had walked around the car checking it carefully since a 50,000 purchase is a huge one. There was no Perma Plate sticker there. We were four people going over it. They deceived us! Hope my review helps others from being ripped off their hard earned money! Oh wait there is more!!!! When we received our license plates, we noticed that they had place the one in the back crooked! My husband drove back like three hours just to have them correct it. I bet they just drilled another hole without fixing the one they had drilled originally! Who wants a brand new car with unnecessary holes in it?

Chris from VW GG reached out like sales men do when I inquired about a vehicle. For the next few weeks Chris has been extremely helpful and understand that I couldnt make a deal without my trade in. When the day finally came and only 2 cars left of what I wanted to get we finally made a deal. It was quick, straight forward, no hassle what so everbto close a deal. I left with a brand new GTI just in time and I appreciate Chriss patience. Would definitely do more business with him.

I had the worst experience with this dealership. Avoid it as much as possible. The General Manager Fred Ward there is ignorant, arrogant, unethical, extremely rude. If possible, I would rate it as negative. We spent more than 50,000 dollars there for a new car, but the experience there is a nightmare of humiliation and intimidation. After the deal is done, they change their faces. We found that there was an unnecessary hole drill on the rear bumper cover of our brand new car when the salesperson placed the temporary plate on the car on the day we picked up the new car and drove it back home. We found out the problem a few days later when we noticed that the temporary plate was not even and the tilting was even obvious if the trunk door is open. My husband went to the dealership to discuss and solve the problem but encountered very unfriendly reaction. Our immediate concern is that the hole may lead to the leak and damage sensors and parts when the vehicle is being washed or it is raining. The dealership falsely accused us of “drilling” the hole ourselves and refused to get it fixed. Their attitude was extremely rude and arrogant. No basic customer service at all. We were not getting the problem solved by the dealership but encountered humiliation there. We did not drill the hole but was treated as liars who tried to take advantage of the dealership. We did not lie, and we did not drill the hole. We’ve made multiple trips to the dealership and had emails and phone calls. It was a very time consuming and emotionally torturing process of interacting with the dealership.Yesterday, the general manager promised they would send the car for repair. This morning, we were about to leave the car there. I would like to make sure where they would send the car for repairment and what was the plan. I dont want further damange on a new car. The general manager showed us their own video camera that their sales person was installing the temporary plate there, my husband stood by the side. His argument was that since my husband did not find the sales person drew a different hole, that person didnt. He insists we drilled the hole, we definitely could not admit something we did not do. He threatened if you say one more word, I am not going to take care of the car Just imagine, this is what a general manager says to the customer. I immediately responded:You dont threaten me. He immediately walked to the service department saying they dont repair the car. He clearly never really planned to do so. We will never admit something we never did. The dealership is not accoutable, and should take their own responsibilites. Now, I am filing complaints to DMV and Volkswagon for resolution. We experienced extremely unethical business practice as well as unprofessional customer service there. We really regret buying the car there. While I tried to file the BBB complaint today, I found their rating on BBB is C-, and they had 3 cases in the past 12 months. I hope I checked this information before I walked into this dealership. This is a dealership with notorious reputation and doesnt care its reputation anymore. Selling a car is a one time business, so maybe thats why they dont care the reputation.

We just couldnt resist the promotional APR of 0% for 72 months and 6 months deferral for the first payment, and were set to purchase 2 cars from this dealership for our business; an Atlas for myself and a Tiguan for my mom. Also, we each had a vehicle to trade-in. Most of the negotiations were through emails. Basically, they will agree to anything to get you in the door. Once there, they will come up with every excuse why they cant give you the number that was agreed. We couldnt agree on the trade-in value on my vehicle so we put negotiations on the Atlas on hold. However, we came to an agreement on my moms trade-in and the purchase price on the Tiguan. Be careful of the finance guy, David Keefe. He is very condescending and will try to upsell you everything from paint protection (even though its covered under warranty), prepaid service ($200 oil changes), extended warranty, etc. On the final document, the numbers didntt add up and was higher than we agreed upon. He rudely refused to change it, and conveniently, the sales team was no where to be found to sort it out. They had already taken my moms car away so we felt trapped. My mom signed under all the duress and as we left, not a single thank you, have a nice day or even a goodbye. Within 5 minutes of getting situated in the new car, the staff kicked us off the lot. After we left, I had no intentions on buying the Atlas from them. Instead I purchased the Atlas at another dealer 3 days later. My advice is1) Do not give up your trade-in key until everything is signed. Make sure you have a way out2) If they promised anything extra, get it in writing. We were promised a sunshade ($36 value) and David said he would put it in writing later. He never did, we never got it.3) You can cancel the contract up until you take delivery of the new vehicle, which is once you drive it off the lot, it is a done deal. The silver lining of all this is, as I was purchasing my Atlas from another dealer, they told me that the promotional 6 month deferral was only for personal and not for businesses. As arrogant as David was, he made the mistake of giving us the 6 months deferral and I have zero reason to help him redo the contract.

Also They ask me to get maintenance service today (my mileage was around 8,000 not yet needed oil change.) I said no. I asked How long does it take to finish Recall? it takes 2 hours please wait there without other option. service time was described in recall letter approx 30 min to 1 hour depend on dealer shop. I could not wait there more than 2 hours. I asked shuttle service because I already booked on line. they said one way only available less than 10 miles without proper explanation. I asked again. because both ways were available in the past I remember. Also, shuttles were available when I apply service request through on line. It did not mentioned one way only. Every conversation was unfriendly and uncomfortable. I went to this shop because of recall. not maintenance. It means it happens due to makers fault. I do not know how important recall itself. He said he would check to see if they were partners with our credit union and would call me back, also took my email address. Received an email with the new price of the car being $17,500. Tried several times to call and even text him regarding the email, he never answered or called me back. Gary from the dealership called me back instead. When asked if I could speak with Ray was told Gary was told to call me. I cant believe how unprofessional this dealership is and that they could only discount the car $164.00. Then was told that there were 3 people coming to buy the car tomorrow and if they are willing to pay more than the $17,500 that was offered to us, that was better for them since their in the business to make money. If there is a mistake or misunderstanding, there are more appropriate ways of dealing with things than threatening to call police on someone over them taking their own property. What kind of management just automatically jumps to conclusions? Its too bad this clown couldnt even come and apologize to me when I arrived to settle the small issue the dealer had. Next time be a man, grab your britches and come and apologize like a normal human does when youre wrong. The manager Fred is probably the most unprofessional person Ive dealt with in a while. Sleezy. They advertise several specific well-equipped VW Golf GTIs at roughly $3,200 off the sticker price. So, I drive the 35 miles to Garden Grove. They have both cars they were adverting but the only way you can get the advertised price is by paying cash or financing thru your trade union or bank (their website says nothing about these conditions). If you want the advertised VW financing you have to pay full sticker price. Actually, you have to pay above sticker price because they have added paint protection, wheel protection, etc. which add another $2k to the windowsticker price. Okay, total waste of my time. I remain polite the entire time Im there and as Im ready to leave the salesman gets his sales manager. The sales manager does the usual attempt to try and sell me and then says, You can go to other dealers and they may advertise lower prices but when you get there they will add $3-4 thousand to the price. I just smile and say, Thats exactly what you did. Actually, you added $5 thousand to the price. He looks a little confused so I say, Thanks. Bye. This is not a dealership you can trust. But if you are in the area head over to Little Saigon for great Vietnamese food. You may not get car but youll get a great meal.

I bought a used truck from Volkswagen of Garden Grove and am I’m VERY unhappy with my experience.First off, the dealership sold me a truck that had a check engine light on at the time of test drive. Fred Ward, the General Manager there assured me that it was fine and that it passed smog inspection right before we bought it so there would be no problem. I asked him repeatedly, knowing there was a check engine light on, if issues arose from it, they would need to stand behind the vehicle and fix or replace whatever was necessary to cure the problem that was causing the check engine light to be on. He assured me he would. The truck came with paper plates. After waiting a couple of months, we still hadn’t received our permanent plates and registration and current registration stickers. I was dealing with Stacy Richardson in the registration department. Never could get them from her, so I went to DMV to get duplicates. DMV gave me the plates, but I had to pay the registration and get pass a smog inspection before they would give me the current stickers. Strike One.I paid the registration fee ($426) because I was getting frustrated and wanted to get this over with. However, I had already paid this same registration fee to the dealership.A vehicle will not pass smog if there is a check engine light on. Strike Two.I called Fred Ward at the dealership and reminded him that he was going to need to fix whatever need fixed and to pay for the smog and refund the registration fees paid. Also, this vehicle is used for business, I would need an equivalent vehicle while waiting for the smog inspection. Fred Ward assured me that the smog check would take one day and provided a vehicle for me to drive in the meantime.Regarding the loaner truck I was provided, Fred assured me that my truck would only take one day for the smog check to be completed. My response to Fred was to allow a few extra days with the loaner truck, in case there was a repair needed before returning the loaner truck. Fred drove the loaner to my home in Riverside and dropped it off. In my driveway, Fred showed me the contract, which I signed, allowing me do use the loaner vehicle, in trade for mine, for three days. Fred’s comment to me was that if we needed more time it would not be a problem. After diagnosing the truck’s problem, Fred Ward had the nerve to try and use the extended warranty I purchased to pay to fix the truck! Strike Three!Of course, the truck took longer to repair than expected. And I could not get the loaner back to the dealership in the timeframe expected, because the loaner truck BROKE DOWN. Three strikes, You’re Out!I had materials for a job on the truck, the materials had to be swapped with another of my vehicles, and then I limped to my house in the loaner truck. It cost me half a day’s work and the wages of two of my employees, to deal with this mess. After I explained this to Fred, he threatened that he would report the loaner truck stolen if I didn’t return it to the dealership. I wasn’t going to limp it 35 miles to Garden Grove to return it. I told him to call a tow truck and come get it. That evening Fred sent a tow truck to pick up the loaner truck, which I gladly returned.I have now, 15 months later, received in the mail from VW of Garden Grove, a stale-dated check for the registration fees. My bank will not accept a stale-dated check from Dec. 30, 2019. And also, I received in the mail the license plate and expired registration and stickers. This week I left a message for Stacy requesting a currently dated check and have not heard back. It’s been a week.Bottom line, I’m amazed at the incompetence of the staff and general manager at this dealership. Save yourself immense headaches and frustration and go elsewhere for a vehicle, new or used.

Never take your car here! I brought my car to get the engine light diagnosed. When I went to pick up the car, they had damaged it (it was hit on the back left, see picture). They denied doing any damage. I had them look at video footage and they realized there was NO damage to the car when I dropped it off originally. They agreed to fix it for me. However, when I went to pick up the car again, there was MORE damage and they hadnt fixed the entire car! They only fixed part of it (the black plastic part was still broken!). It took a ton of haggling back and forth to get them to agree to fix the rest of it. I had to wait at the dealership for 3 hours. Additionally, their staff was rude and insulting to me and accused me of only taking my car to them to get diagnosed for free and then having pep boys work on it. This is completely untrue! They had sent me a coupon for a free diagnosis. After it was diagnosed, I decided to sell the car instead of getting it fixed. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this dealership for oil changes, engine diagnosis, and air bag repairs. They accused me of not being a regular customer. Even if it was the first time I was going there, if you damage someones car, you should fix it immediately and not insult the customer. I have never been treated with such disrespect. I would NEVER go here again! The guys that work in the service center are rude and disrespectful. They also put down other service centers (ie: pep boys and jiffy lube) and say that other service centers are incompetent and dont know what theyre doing. The guys that work here are egotistical and arrogant and think they know everything. Clearly they dont know how to give good customer service.

In this age of Covid I’ve test-driven three cars (Mazda, Subaru, Kia) alone with just providing my driver’s license, insurance, and signing a one-day rental form.VW Garden Grove wanted to pull my credit (thus resulting in a hard hit) before I even knew if a GTI was a car that would work for me.I understand pulling credit prior to a test drive for an expensive limited edition halo car (like a mustang gt500), but this was a regular mass-produced GTI. All three other dealers let me test drive without needing a credit pull, so I’m not sure why VW of Garden Grove thinks they need to do so for a regular GTI.TL;DR : no issues test driving three other dealers without a hard credit pull, yet VW GG required it. I couldnt have asked for a better sales team. Roz was amazingly patient with me and took the time to show me how to use and set up all the wonderful features. And David Keefe was just as amazing and helpful and took the time to explain ALL of my options. I truly couldn?t be happier with my new ‘20 Tiguan and the support and attention to details I received from VW of Garden Grove.

Still waiting for my money from trade in since before Christmas.Sold me GAP, extended warranty, Permaplate and service package. Wanted to cancel all of these, but the GM told me he wouldnt re-write the contract... wasted my time going there right before New Year.2 weeks later, Sales Manager tells me to go back in to rewrite contract... cant remove Permaplate (even though it was already applied to all vehicles). Service was already done... yet Finance Manager still recommended it (like he would for his Family).Going on a month and still no check, just excuses.Worse car buying experience (or any purchase) experience ever...Still waiting for my check...

One of the smoothest car buying experiences we have had. Came up from San Diego since VW Garden Grove had one of the best selection of Beetles in Southern California. Ended up leasing one of the new Pink Beetle convertibles. It was a win-win deal.

This is my go to VW dealership for service and my fave service coordinator George always takes care of me and my car. Job is always done on time, communication is great, and he just makes me feel like family rather then a customer. Thanks George.

If you want a great car and a non presumptive car consultant, visit Volkswagen of Garden Grove, Ca and ask for Thomas Zimmer. Wow, for once I was not pressured to buy on the spot...Did you know that if you have bad credit, VGG will work with your budget! Have a minimum of $2000.00 and your are on your way to a new life!!! Ill be back!!!

Ive gone in their showroom and outside to check out the new cars. Ive spent approx. 25 minutes without anyone saying not even so much as Hi, I will be right with you or something. They dont deserve anyones business. The Volkswagen dealer at Dyer road in Santa Ana is the place to go. They are not only very professional but knowledgeable as well. This is my personal experience here. Hopefully others will be treated better.

Had a recall that I needed to take care right away for my Jetta. I called another VW location and they could get it done till the next day. I called VW of Garden Grove and Clayton said they could get it done right now. I rushed over there and they took the best care of me. Got an oil change as well. They washed my car and got me on my way. Thank you for the speedy helpful service. I will drive the extra miles in the future to come back to This location.

I was upset about my existing car. Jeremy Jones and Zhong Ren took really good care of our needs and gave us the best car and an awesome deal. They went out of their way and offered us pizza and super nice coffee while we were waiting on making a decision. I am super happy about the service and the car they showed me. Five stars to them and to the dealership.

Incredibly rude service agent. Passive aggressive and condescending. Tried calling several times but no answer. Told the agent, white guy with red hair and beard, didn’t bother to apologize and didn’t care his google listed number wasn’t working. Ignored me when I first arrived and talked over me. Dealerships are always great but this one is horrible.
