Best shop in town, hands down. Very professional and reasonable. Unlike other shops around town, The owner is fair and will work with you rather than haggle you.

Rick is a genuinely nice guy. Ignore the haters who posted. They all have obviously never been to a real pawn shop before. If you are expecting Macys, then Oaks Mall is where you should be just remember after you buy it from Macys and all your money is gone. Rick will be there for you to give you some cash and get you going again. I hope the haters take that to heart and delete or update their posts. Possible fake gold seller or scammer, buyer beware. Owner is highly insecure and suspiciously hostile toward anyone who wants some type of verification of the authenticity of his gold before buying it. Owner claims to stock various gold coins for the literally unbelievably low price of just $20 over spot for any coin he had in stock (including a variety of maples, eagles, mexican coins, etc.) Owner was extremely verbally abusive toward me when I asked to see gold coins on a precious metals verifier, claimed verifiers dont work, even though this is what almost any reputable gold dealer uses to test coins before buying or selling. Instead, to instill confidence in the authenticity of the coins he was selling, he showed me he had the materials required to perform the acid test. So I said ok fine, show me the acid test, but then he told me he cant do the acid test either because he doesnt want to damage the coin. (I believe this is hogwash because I once saw a jeweler perform an acid test on his daughters wedding right in front of me and it did not damage the ring whatsoever nor did the jeweler appear to perceive any loss in value of the ring.) At this point I became highly suspicious so I asked if I could even perform a simple flick test (any gold bug knows the characteristic ring of a gold coin when you flick it) yet amazingly, this shop owner would not even let me flick a gold coin in his shop. This is EXTREMELY suspicious. Then he proceeded to get angry and start cursing me out and eventually kicked me out of his shop. All the while I maintained a calm demeanor and even made sure to show him the cash so he knew I was a serious buyer. I have been to many gold dealers in many different states and never witnessed anything like this before. In my opinion the only logical reason for this level of insecurity would be a lack of confidence in the authenticity of the gold hes selling. Buyer beware

This locally owned pawn shop is a blast. Dont show up in a huge hurry...each and every customer is helped by the owner...such personal service!!! Cash on the spot makes this a great place to get a short term loan or to sell your gold.

This is a dirt hole dont let the other reviews fool you. I know that half of the people who wrote positive reviews are actually associated with or employees of this pawn shop. The dirty hippie of an owner, who obviously lacks good hygiene and respect, will tell you that all your stuff is worth way less than it is. Try and hassle you down to a fraction of what it is worth. This guy is a rude in your face kind of guy who obviously had way too many trips on acid back in the day. The rest of the staff is composed of an old idiot and a young idiot and one or two crack heads that literally just sit there and look at you and talk to the owner as he rants and raves about nothing. They try and constantly talk about the other shops and say they wouldnt buy half of the stuff i buy, which is because he mostly services neighborhood crack heads and basically stealing there jewelry because there are also too stupid to realize that he is a rip off. Well if your an idiot and want to get ripped off this is the place to go. This review is not inappropriate if you have ever been there and all those who have which is numerous people feel the same way. This is the real review of the shop not the owner trying to promote his junk yard of a store.

I Went to Best Pawn looking for an IPOD for my wife. The guy behind the counter Richard was very friendly! He had four to choose from right there under the counter. I was able to test them and pick the one I wanted. I only paid 30 BUCKS!!!!! Easy transaction friendly staff I will defiantly come back to this pawn shop!! I just got done reading all of these reviews. Some of you people are talking like you’re going to a restaurant or you’re going to live there. Yes, the store can be cluttered at times. Yes, the owner can talk to you for a while. But, at the end of the day I go there when I need help financially, so all of those things are irrelevant to me. I have been going to this place for six years now. I have been treated with nothing but the upmost respect from everybody that works there. I never feel cheated out of anything. I usually pawn things not sell them. When I come back to pick them up he usually doesn’t even charge me the whole finance fee because he knows I will be back again, and I am a loyal customer. So to me that makes me feel as though he appreciates me as his customer. If he didn’t care then he would charge me the fee on my contract even when I came back a week after getting the loan because I agreed to that price when I got the money. I just recently bought my son a Spider Man Schwinn bike from his shop. I told him I only had a small amount of money for the bike, and he looked it up on his system to see what he paid for it, and he let me get the bike for the same amount. Nobody on this planet can tell me that any other pawn shop would have done that. Everybody else could care less that it was for my ten year old son; they just want to make money off of it. The owner obviously has a good heart, and that is hard to find now a days. If you want to deal with honest, good hearted people I would most definitely recommend this place. It’s hard to find that in people in today’s world.

I would describe this shop as unorganized, unprofessional, and unhelpful. The place is an absolute mess, stuff everywhere in piles rather than displayed in any kind of arranged pattern. Clearly the store of a hoarder. What is worse, however, is every time I have gone in (4, in total) the guy behind the counter has been talking politics with someone and waited several minutes before finally asking if I needed any help. Furthermore, he seems put out, as if I am bothering him by coming to his place of business. Rest assured, I wont go in a fifth time. Any positive reviews I have read here contradict the experiences of anyone whom I have spoken to in person and I suspect that the positive reviews are written by the owner himself as it would be impossible for anyone but the owner or his weird friends to have a positive impression of this shop. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time.

A mess. And the owner is an insecure, abusive man that will demean you to get you to settle for less. If you know this tactic, he will just talk forever, even with a huge line. There is SO MUCH BETTER OUT THERE. Look in Haile, theres a super-professional place where you dont feel dirty just looking out, let alone walking in or doing business.Maybe some specialty items here, maybe some things that you probably cant find elsewhere, and maybe good for some...but for me (and I think most), just stay away, you can find much better elsewhere.

I had some scrap gold I wanted to sell and checked out a few places around town, Richard gave me the best price out of anywhere! Super friendly guy and asked me what he could help me with as soon as I walked in. I wouldnt go anywhere else and will certainly be back!

I have been to all of the pawnshops in Gainesville, FL and this is the place to go if youwant the most cash for your valuables. This pawnshop is centrally located near downtown on the corner of NW 6th St and NW 3rd Ave. The place is colorfully paintedwith planets and black and white checkered steps. Richard, the pawnbroker, is the owner and is very nice and fair and pays the most for gold. This pawnshop is like atreasure ship... they have a lot of good electronics, TVs, computers, and games withthe best prices in town. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for agood place to pawn their stuff or get a good deal when you want to buy something.
