I was able to find a decent, light, waterproof jacket here. Everything is pretty well laid out. Staff is friendly. Stocked seemed kinda sparse, but I think a lot of retail shops are relying more heavily on web-traffic. Check their website before you bother making a trip out here.

I had the best experience today! I ordered an item online for store pickup. It was ready in less than an hour. When I went to go pick it up, the store associates were so friendly and helpful. They loaded it in my car without any issues. Its nice to know there are still some wonderful people in this world. 😊

Spoke to manager Nathan about military discount. They do not offer military discount. I asked if there was any other discounts for veterans and he said no. I asked if he could do any discount and he said absolutely not. If the manager can not make a decision to offer a discount to a veteran or service member then what can he offer? As much as I like Academy they need to change their policy. And their managers need to lead the way with upper management. Step up Academy….

Good store, but the children shoes area benches are very dangerous: when my 4-year-old son was waiting for me to help put his new shoes on, he put his little finger right into a hole and it got stuck, and after that my son slipped backwards on the stupidly roundish bench, and hit the back of his head against the concrete floor covered with very thin carpeting. God saved us from two major injuries... Thank you, Lord!!!

I went to the Gainesville GaLocation, I took my 22 marlin in and ask if they could mount a Scope I was given to my Rifle, I talk with Luke Foresman behind the gun bar, He was very knowledgeable and in about 15 minutes I walked out with my scope mounted and bore sighted Im very with h help and knowledge and I will definitely be back

Still no bass raider boats! Finally got some time off from work. My plan was to go down there this morning and pick up a bass raider pontoon boat, trolling motor, and a couple of batteries. Just like the last 4 times over a 1 year period, when I started to go buy one theyre out of stock! Im about to say the Heck with them and head to bass pro. They want my money.

Tried to place an on line order, wouldnt take the credit card - took my paypal twice after telling me the request timed out. Called the local store, they couldnt help, gave me the customer care #. Called it, said had a 13 minute wait time.... after 13 minutes opted for the call back option. 15 minutes later they called back, explained the situation.... they told me they found out an hour ago the website was having problems - why no notice to users? Very poor .... it only takes moments to put up a message. This took 30 minutes of my time to determine they had internal problems.

Found one of the things we needed. Stock was low. We live an hour and a half away so we were disappointed but we truly love this store or we wouldnt have drove all that way.

Wow - when you have people you KNOW and SEE are waiting in line for scarce ammunition and they can SEE what is available, you really shouldnt take 4/5 of what we SAW was available off of the shelf before we got inside. You had 5 large boxes of 9mm ammo, but surprisingly the lady who was FIRST IN LINE only had ONE available to purchase. Having your employee be nasty and state I said thats all we have. when the PAYING CUSTOMERS SAW THE ORIGINAL AVAILABLE AMOUNTS is a great way to show how we are valued. Clearly not at all. Excellent customer NO-service Academy!!! Your managers and store owners/operators should be so proud!!

Many companys who say they are here for the gun owners are now price gouging to ridiculous levels but Academy has continued to offer the same prices or just barely increased. Costumer service isnt that great they basically made it hard to return something they saw me buy with my card just a day ago. I had that same card and left after half an hour of just a waste of my day.

Only reason for 4 stars is the pricing. Other than that this locations is very nice. There are cheaper prices online but when you need something and they have it in stock this is one of the places to go to.

Went to purchase an advertised western. 22 caliber handgun for $99.00. The male employee stated that they had sold all that were in inventory. I asked if they were doing rain checks and he said no. I was going to ask to see another weapon but he walked away from me and there were no other customers. I thought that the employee was rude in the tone of his answers and body language. I left and will spend my money elsewhere.

Awful experience, could not get help at the reel counter. Finally a dude, just drawing a pay check, came buy and I flaged him down. Hes was less than helpful with an attitude. 😖 Took my 200 bucks home with me... brick and morter stores are dead.

Today will be the last time I shop in this store. Was informed at checkout that as of Veterans Day they no longer give a Veterans discount. Used to drive out of my way to shop here, but will not again.

Terrible customer service. Items on sales rack rang up incorrectly; took forever just to tell us they would not honor the sale prices. Also, some other items (all off of the same table) wouldnt ring up, spent more time to go check prices. Treated us like we were lying when they were the problem. No wonder their checkout lines are so long--we spent more time at checkout than we did shopping.

This location was great! My only issue was that the store was out of a lot of exercise equipment (sad face) but the employees that i dealt with was helpful and polite! Keep up the good work 👏 👍

We went today to return something we bought online. The service was great. He was very polite and no questions asked just went ahead and completed the transaction. We dont go out or inside stores because of covid19 but we wanted to buy the new item right away. Everyone wore mask and followed precautions.

Made online purchase 12/26/2020 for a firearm and background check came back a couple days later with a proceed so the store called me and told me to come in and pick up.... I went in on 12/31/2020 and they refused to sell bc my city on my license didn’t match my background check which was cleared ... ( the city was incorporated that’s why it’s two different names ) I was told my funds would be released in 3-5 days .... Today is 1/17/2021 and they are still holding my funds ... funds were released a couple days ago and today I checked my credit card and it says swiped /authorized on 1/16/2021 ..... NO ONE in store can help and I can’t dispute the $543.99 charge until it’s cleared.... this is the second time my CC company shows it’s been swiped since I left out the store on 12-31-2020 without the item ....

I have visited Academy Sports, several times, recently.The staff is friendly & helpful. The store is clean & neat, well lit & organized.They have everything I am looking for at a reasonable price.If you choose your visit day & time, carefulky, its easy to get in & out quickly. Now that its Christmas season all bets are off but certainly no more hectic than other big box stores.

Got what I needed.

We have purchased numerous bikes, baseball gloves and such from this store and gotten okay service. It has never been outstanding, exceptional, etc., but the salespeople will move towards you if you ask for help. Today we went in hoping for a fishing vest (as a gift for my nephew). The man pointed up one isle and said they only had one kind. There was nothing there. I returned and told him there was no vest at the spot to which he pointed. He wasnt with a customer but still didnt show me...just insisted it was on a hanger above the red bags. There was nothing above the red bags! Two other people were with me and saw nothing above the red bags! Apparently whatever had been there was no longer there and there was no empty place or shelf label where it had been. Anyway, we never found the ONE vest? Also, they didnt carry another item we were looking for, but another sales person pointed towards the area in which it MIGHT be. Anyway, they answer any questions, but dont go over and above. And may or may not know if they have something...havent ever seen if them actually check for sure. Kinda disappointing since I chose that sporting store first over others in the area.

I suspect it was just because of the whole coronavirus situation but the store was depleted in the area that I was trying to shop and unstocked. Also the shells were mislabeled and very few of the items had correct labels or pricing.

The only place around that has a good selection of cycling energy gels now that Performance Bicycle is closed. Pretty good shoe pricing. On the day I visited which was a Tuesday they were extremely busy and I left w/o buying anything because there was only one register open and the line went halfway to the back of the store. Floor managers please pay attention and open more registers when that happens. Im still trying to figure out why it was so busy at 3pm-ish on a Tuesday. Bonus Level: if you cone here you can also get sone grub from Del Taco which is walking distance.

Went looking for an associate to help me look at a perception Outlaw Kayak and the employee from the gun department was the first one I could find, so I asked if he could find someone to help me, he then looked at me sarcastically and said hopefully.. Well, okay.... Wait for solid 5-6 mins before he says did you wanna look at it or are you gonna buy it? So I cant look at something unless I plan in buying it? Also that same employee walked away leaving the manager and I to carry it through the store ourselves. Having worked in customer service for way to long, this was a terrible way to interact with someone about to spend 800$. Wont be back.

Todays experience at Academy was dismaying to say the least. While the sign above the shirt display clearly stated buy one get one and 50% off, imagine my surprise when a young person running the register charged me 25% off each shirt.When I questioned her she assured me that she had rung up the merchandise correctly.I returned the merchandise since the person who wrote the sign evidently had failed fifth grade math.

Good selection of apparell. A good selection of insoles for all different types of needs. A wide range of shoes to choose from, basically the walmart of sporting good stores. They have something for any and every type of outdoor, indoor sporting, hiking, camping etc.... activities you may be interested in or have a need for. Employers are very polite and helpful.
