My step daughter is going to school at UF and was told by advanced auto that her alternator was bad. Took it to Compu Tune to replace. They checked everything and determined it was just a loose terminal from the new battery install last month. They tightened it up free of charge and checked everything else. Were very honest and helpful. Glad they were able to help since we are far.

A rare find. A truly honest mechanic. Heres a few comments I get from there whenever I bring my car there, sometimes for a second opinion. You dont need an alignment, your tires are worn. You just need new tires. Its not your power steering pump, you just have a loose belt. I just tightened it. Etc, etc.An honest mechanic who doesnt try to make a quick buck. Btw, I bought my car new in 2005. Fifteen years later, still running like new at 320,000+ miles.

I went to this shop today after reading all the awesome reviews and having a bad experience at another shop in town that charged me 3x more and didnt fix the issue. After doing research I felt like I knew what I was talking about. They swapped out my part and replaced the fuel injector for half of what the other shop was going to charge me for the same parts and work. I will definitely be taking my truck back here and recommending them!

Id say this is the BEST repair shop in Gainesville that not only consists of nice professionals that are very knowledgeable, but also doesnt take advantage of people. When my car was experiencing Transmission issues,not only did they help me in a timely manner/fix the problem, but also explained to me in specific detail what was wrong with the transmission and the possible actions that I might have to take in the future. Overall, great service and great people.

Came in for a simple A/C recharge left with a 1000+ bill stating that my compressor was “broken.” Thankfully I already had my A/C diagnosed previously by some other professionals, so I knew that couldn’t have been the case. Went to another shop got my A/C recharged, now it is blowing cold air. Not honest at all, definitely recommend a NAPA certified auto-care center instead. Stay far away.

We took our car there twice both times they have done an excellent job and could easily have charged us way more, they recharged our a.c. for only 75 which fixed the problem and when we had smoke pouring out of the car, found out it was only a fan fuse and they fixed it and drove it to paynes prairie to double check it and only charge me 50, great honest mechanics!

Very friendly and timely service and fair pricing. I had AAA leave my car there, after the shop was closed and was able to call them the next day to get a quote on a replacement starter. The following day my car was ready to be picked up. Easily the least hassle I have ever had to go through when dealing with a repair shop. I highly recommend them.

Kevin is a great and honest mechanic which is a very hard thing to find these days. I had some power steering leaks and he did wonderful work. After having a hose replaced a small leak from a different hose still persisted and I took it back and he fixed free of charge! He givens incredibly fair prices and does great work. He is straight forward and tells you whats wrong and doesnt try and tell you that there is a bunch of other stuff that needs to be done. I will definitely being taking my car here for any future repairs. I wish I could give him more stars!

Didnt want to change trans cause they thought it was damaged, when we changed it, the oil was dirty and low on my buddys mustang, but no metal shavings and now after test driving it several times it feels like new.

I had issues with my car a few months back when I moved to Gainesville so I trusted the man to read the list that autozone gave me and he told me my oxygen sensor was down so I went to buy one and had them replace it when my car was still having issues I called again and the same man told me that it could be anything and he needed to go back in and recheck the car. When he first informed me of what was “wrong” with my car he was so sure of himself and I paid $100 total to get that piece fixed when it was not even an issue. I took my car to the Chevy dealer and informed them of what happened and they said that the piece was not the problem and probably never was the problem. Do not give confident recommendations especially to college kids who barely have money in the first place.

My wife and I had to evacuate from our home in Merritt Island, FL during the recent Dorian hurricane event. We passed through Gainesville on our return and began to hear a disturbing noise in the front end of our Acura MDX. I hate to have some problems when I am on the road far from my local mechanic whom I have known for years and trust implicitly. Still we needed to stop and have a mechanic look at the vehicle to make sure it was safe to drive home.The team at Computa Tune took the time to test drive our car and then put it on a lift to check out the suspension. Apparently we needed to replace the two front struts, but the car was deemed safe to drive back home. Computa Tune was very quick to do this for us despite having lots of other cars in their parking lot scheduled for repair and ultimately charged us nothing for this service.Our experience with them speaks to the integrity of Computa Tune as a business and as individuals. If I were in the Gainesville area, I would not hesitate to use them as our go to auto mechanic.

DO NOT go here!!! I dont understand the ratings this business received, must be planted!! My car broke down and i was referred here by AAA. I called at 11.40 and was informed he just pushed the car in and was starting on it. I was called at 12.22 and told the started was replaced and car ready, great!! However, upon arrival i was told i owed 386$!!!! they charged me 250 for a used(reman) starter!!!!!! I checked and through 2 other places the same product was 125!! In addition, they charged me 120$ in labor!!!! For 42 minutes of work!!!(11:40-12.22) them when i asked why sip high Insta of being honest i was told that particular starter was different and always expensive. I will never trust AAA recommendations again and i certainly suggest you get a quote from this place in writing up front. What a heel to take advantage of stranded travelers!!!!

This guy is the best mechanic in Gainesville, and probably the state. He understands how business works. You treat your customers fair and right. I just had my spark plugs changed on my truck. I have an F150 and it requires the special tool (that he has). He could have really cranked up the cost on me too. But he didn’t. The dealership would have likely broken more plugs (unavoidable with these trucks is what everyone says). And they would charge $200 a broken plug. This is probably the 5th time I’ve been through his shop for repairs and every time I leave satisfied. Seriously. Don’t waste your time and money going elsewhere. This guy is THE mechanic in Gainesville.

Where to begin... after fleeing my home in St. Petersburg ahead of the largest hurricane to ever hit the US mainland, I landed in Gainesville where my daughter and I hunkered down for the duration. In addition to the hotel losing power and kicking us all out the morning after the storm came barreling through, I discovered that Irma wreaked havoc on my car - starter malfunctioned which drained the battery - and the car was DOA!! Kevin (owner at Computa Tune) gave me the phone number for a AAA approved towing service and then took my car in right away. The problem ultimately morphed into a flooded/corroded Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM, i.e. fuse box) - NOT a small OR cheap problem. New battery ✔️ - new starter - ✔️ new fuse box ?? Uhhh... NO parts available due to power outages and flooding throughout the state. Did Kevin give up and send me packing? NOPE!! He was a man on a mission - tracked down a TIPM from a different make/model at a junkyard 50 miles away!! He sent his wife (who I assume is as lovely a person as he is) all the way there and back, and lucky for me, IT WORKED!!! And get this, he only charged me what he paid for the part. 😳 (I know, right?!) I believe it says something when you feel compelled to hug a mechanic... and despite my numerous annoying calls to check on his progress, Kevin was gracious enough to hug me back. Thanks Kevin, Mrs. Kevin, and the whole team at Computa Tune - you were a rare ray of sunshine ☀️ during a few very dark and stormy days!
