I didn’t end up getting what I needed done at this location, but I did have to wait for a few hours to figure out an issue with my car. Teresa was so nice and professional. The waiting room is awesome, super comfy chairs and plenty of room to relax. I wasn’t charged for anything while there, even after they had to inspect stuff before sending me to the dealer. I appreciated their swiftness with my diagnosis and for allowing me to lounge while waiting. Highly recommend for check ups!

We have used city auto repair for several repairs/maintenance now. Most recently we took our van in for a thermostat repair. Price was in line with what other repair shops were charging (I called around for quotes), but I knew City Auto would do the job correctly so I scheduled the repair with them. They managed to get it done same day, which was a huge relief. They also offered a $50 off coupon when I scheduled which made them the cheapest after all!

For starters, the employees love working for City Auto because I asked and that is a good sign AND a WOMAN owns and operates this business and that is a plus for me in a male dominated business. I did not feel the under handedness I typically feel at huge dealerships that do not care if you ever come back because they are backed up by big corporate $$$This places cares and the prices do not change every time when speaking with them. My car would not defrost on the drivers side...ugh... and our weather just got cold so I could not see out the drivers side. Not good. So I took my car to City Auto. Wow, from the moment I arrived the service was amazing! Teresa was GREAT! She deserves a raise! She was knowledgable, kind, considerate (even helped me get a cup of coffee!). After I came back to pick up my car, we found out that the part used was defaulty so the shop had to take time to re-do the install. While waiting, I was going to be late for an appointment... so the owner, the amazing Rachael, offered to take me to the appointment or borrow her car, a BRAND New Tesla .... I know, crazy! (I made up the part about the Tesla) but she did offer to help! Great service - car fixed quickly AND I made it to the appointment on time! I highly recommend City Auto Repair!

I need work done on multiple vehicles right now, so on the suggestion of my neighbor I thought I would give them a try as he had heard about them from a friend. Ultimately I need this car repaired, AC work on another and a crate motor and transmission installed in a third so reliability and respect are key.I can only speak of my experience, but here goes.The lady that I spoke with on the phone was friendly and polite, good start. I took the vehicle in that needed the least work, to get an estimate and feel for the place. I was clear that I knew exactly what the problem was (pinhole leak in coolant hose near top of engine) and only needed an estimate.The shop has a nice waiting room that is very comfortable. The gentleman at the counter was not very friendly, but everyone has a bad day and these are stressful times so no big deal. I tried to show them where the leak is since I knew exactly where it was and just needed an estimate, but the said no they would find it. They really didnt seem to want to hear anything I had to say, insisting that they had it under control.Ill be polite and not quote the estimate they gave me, but I will say that I was charged $50 for an estimate that was over twice what another shop quoted me, and the other shop was friendly and listened to what I was saying. The other shop was happy to let me show them the location of the leak and didnt charge me for the estimate.Its only Wednesday and the other shop said that this was the second complaint about City Auto Repair they have had this week. At least its getting them business. My advice is to shop around, evaluate not only cost but how they interact with you.Regardless, I wish them and whoever is reading this the best through this pandemic, I hope you and your family make it through safe and healthy.

Absolutely do not take your vehicle here for engine repairs I have had more trouble than what I went in with at $3700 you think you’ll get great work my vehicle is awful....Chris has a great personality for trying to handle the situation but it just does not make up for the money spent and vehicle not right went for an oil change and valves are full of oil and this is one of the issues discussed being fixed sadly I have a oil leak again I’m just beyond frustrated on top of my fuel pump they replaced twice does not read correctly had to draw a line to know when gas is low I burn so much gas it’s unbelievable

I would travel across town to get service here. I love this place. Front desk, Chris, is awesome and explains everything to me well. Quotes me on future maintenance (on request after a diagnostic and fee) and will even preorder some parts in anticipation of my return (because I love this place, I always return).I’ve been to a few maintenance shops around town and I’ve always felt rushed, or my request wasn’t done like how I thought it was going to be (I just think it wasn’t explained to me). Regardless, I feel like they were always doing right by me.

I was in a pinch being out of town on a family vacation and my water pump started leaking. They were able to get the repair completed in a timely manner and were very professional the entire time. I was recommended by a family friend and do not regret following that recommendation. If I lived in the area I would definitely take my business there again. I discovered City Auto Repair by accident, as I had to use my AAA membership to have my car towed to a garage for service. Since I was towed to an independent garage, and received great service, I subsequently had work done on my truck there as well. I even had a positive referral to replace my cars stereo per the owners recommendation. I came in last Friday at 10am expecting the work to be time consuming and expensive like a new starter. After doing a diagnostic test, I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I only needed a new battery! I was out by 11:30am. This was the 2nd time Id been here. I even got a follow up call. An honest auto repair company, family owned and they care about their customers.

As a female, going to the mechanic can be overwhelming but that has never been the case since I started coming here. The staff always makes me feel comfortable, they give it me straight, and they are very fair with pricing. They reach out after services are performed to make sure things are running smoothly and give me advice that is in my best interest, and not just in the interest of the shop making money. I wouldnt go anywhere else in Gainesville.

I have been using City Auto for over 10 years and what I appreciate most about them is their honesty. I always know that they won’t try to scam you with unneeded repairs. They do excellent work and they do it quickly and professionally. I also really like the cleanliness of their facility. No waiting in dirty waiting rooms and no girly pictures in the bathroom. I LOVE this place. Rachel is probably the nicest woman on the planet, and helped me with every single car issue that Ive had!They did and oil change, replaced all of the washer fluids, and even checked all the lights for any failure. We had a brake job done and work was completed as promised. After a day, however, there was a clanking sound in the rear so went back to City Auto to have them check it out. This is the most impressive auto repair shop that I have every been to! The manager works right next to the employees supporting them and is totally honest; that really tells me a lot about the place. He saved me almost a thousand dollars that another auto repair shop said I had to spend on my ride. Secondly, the manager spent nearly a half hour talking to me about it too. I cannot say enough about how great this business is.

While on I-75 our van broke down. With our two dogs and two young children. We brought it here. Turns out the mechanic down south missed a substantial water pump leak and need for a new one. These people did everything in their power to get us in and out and back on our vacation. Even though they were slam packed busy because of the holidays. And they did it without robbing us blind. Friendly staff and great service! When I needed new brakes, they explained every step of the process and didnt suggest I do more than I needed. Cannot say enough about City Auto Repair and their team. They went above and beyond to help out, when my transfer case grenaded on the way to meet family for Thanksgiving. Stuck halfway between Tampa and Tallahassee, they stayed late and made sure we had transportation and were able to load all of our food coolers and luggage in the rental. I have been looking for a good trustworthy mechanic for a while and I finally found one at City Auto. They did excellent work on my car and it hasn’t driven smoother since I bought it. It is nice to find a mechanic with integrity who is a down to earth transparent businessman. I will going there for all my work in the future.

I took my Scion FRS here after hearing a repeated clicking sound whenever I went over bumps on the road. I was unsure what the issue was, but when I brought it in, they took it out for a test drive and were able to determine what the issue could be (which they didnt charge me for). I brought it back in again for them look into it further. I was updated at every step of the way and I was given advice on how to proceed. They made sure to confirm with me before doing anything that wasnt previously agreed upon and the repair took as long as they predicted it would.

I have used City Auto for many years, and referred several friends as well. They always do a great job, and are always professional and courteous. They have NEVER misdiagnosed anything, and have never had to parts swap and guess whats wrong. They are honest folks, and that is hard to find in this day and age. I highly recommend them.

It is truly difficult to find an honest auto repair shop, but I do believe Rachael and City Auto Repair do strive to be that. While they may not be the cheapest in town, they are upfront with what is wrong with your vehicle and what it will take to fix it. And in my experience, cheapest usually doesnt equal the best anyway and your car is to important of an asset to not pay a little bit more for things to be done right and with quality. I have had several repairs done at City Auto and have been thoroughly pleased- never having an issue with any of them. Not to mention the fact they will drop you off to work and pick you up while they have your car. Convenience from an auto repair shop is quite a bonus. The fact that they offer a warranty on their parts also provides some peace of mind that if it breaks, they will take care of it. I highly recommend to everyone I know to give City Auto a try. I know there are several negative comments on here, but I can assure you as a business owner myself that you are never going to satisfy everyone all the time and sometimes the customer is only going to see things their way- whether its right or wrong. This is a family owned company that tries to treat you the customer like you are a part of that family and I as a consumer appreciate that.

I took my car into City Auto Repair for the first time the other day and had a great experience. The entire staff was friendly and Rachael was amazing! I took my car to City Auto for a fluid exchange and they noticed that someone had put duct tape around a gizmo that would need to be replaced. They did a great job and had me out of there in plenty of time. I would recommend them to anyone. They are fair and they do good work without any time wasted.

I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. The staff is truly amazing and communicate during the process. Never takes a very long time either. I wholeheartedly recommend City Auto for all your automotive needs!

City Auto Repair were patient, explained everything and encouraged me to seek other estimates; they were totally confident in their service and price. Been trying to work out issues with my jeep for quite some time. City Auto diagnosed my issues accurately. I was informed of all expenses before proceeding forward, and was notably surprised when I received a call the next day that it was ready to go. Pricing & labor were beyond fair. I was expecting to pay much more. I never felt once I was being worked over. They said what needs to be done and what I can do myself. I normally do my own work because I often find shops to be less than ample. All in all. City Auto received a new customer for all my issues and general maintenance for the entirety of my stay in Gainesville. Fuel pump and death wobble fixed by pros.
