By far the best experience Ive had at any business ever, let alone a repair shop. Quick, personable, trustworthy, respectable... a few notes-Patient and will give updates and explanations even when busy-Told me up front what to expect, and what costs would be, and gave me options and advice-They couldnt complete all repairs (issue with the frame of my vehicle/not their fault at all) but Steve took the time to help point me in the direction of other services that would get the job done.- I was of course expecting to pay them for the services and parts they were able to provide, but Steve gave me a very generous discount because Were trying to run a different type of business. and I just felt it was the right thing to do given I couldnt get the full job done there. Totally above and beyond what I expected. I practically just paid for parts. If by different type of business he means charity then it makes sense.-As far as what they did fix (front/rear sway bars and front shocks).... it does indeed drive much smoother and the steering wheel death wobble seems to be gone.29/29 would recommend!

Steve was extremely patient with all of my questions and explained everything thoroughly – he even took photos during the repair process so that he could show me exactly what was wrong. He fixed a small issue with my brakes for free, and the prices for an oil change and a window that was stuck down were extremely reasonable as well. Out of all the mechanics Ive tried, these guys are definitely the best of the best – highly reliable and trustworthy.

I went in because my engine was overheating, turns out the last shop I went to left a cap off of my engine! The staff here was very nice and didnt charge me for this. I typically dont write reviews but I wish I wouldve known about All-Star Automotive right when I moved to Gainesville. I had heard good things about Auto ER from a friend and took my 2015 Jeep Wrangler to them to get my thermostat fixed. When Auto ER told me that I would need to get my whole engine cooling fan replaced, my dad made me get a second opinion. AND IM SO GLAD I DID! Steve looked at my Jeep and told me my cooling fan was perfectly fine and fixed the small problem for such a good price. Being a female college student, it is so easy to get ripped off by auto shops. I’ve been looking for a reliable & fair mechanic since moving here last summer - Steve and the team at All Star live up to their name (all stars!) I needed my breaks done or so I thought, plus an oil change & wanted a quote on my shocks/struts. After taking a look, Steve told me my rear breaks were good for a while but the front could due to be replaced due to rust from salted roads of the Northeast. He also said my back shocks needed to be replaced (like I knew) but advised I could wait a bit on my front because it’s a more expensive job. I respected his honesty & professional opinion - they did my front breaks & rear shocks along with an oil change & tire rotation all in 1 day! It was awesome. I’ll definitely be back for my front shocks soon. Thank you guys for taking care of me & my car!

I stopped by to ask about a repair since this shop was on my way to work and I saw all the positive reviews.I walked in and told Steve about my car and was told that he didn’t want to put his name on that particular make/model. Okay, cool. Just tell me that your shop wont work on that particular car and I’ll be on my way. Then he tells me to check for a recall because he is certain the code I mentioned would be on the recall list since my car definitely has a giant recall list. I tell him the only recall on the car is for a Bluetooth issue and he says I should check again.I tell him there are a few reviews like this online and he seems indifferent. He gives a few more smug remarks, tells me I should have bought X make/model instead, and I go on my way.Basically, it will be a very unpleasant interaction for you depending on your car. If it’s not along your route like it was for me, I recommend calling ahead to avoid this shop wasting your time.I fully respect a shop not wanting to work on a particular vehicle, whatever their reason, which is why this is not a 1 star review. I wouldnt have left a review if Steve had just refused to work on it as it is his business.I went to another mechanic where we all got a good laugh from this experience because I had to ask whether theyd work on my car.

I do not usually write reviews, but my experience at All-Star Automotive was exceptional at the least. I brought my old 2001 Hyundai in for all of my motor mounts to be replaced and an inspection. Steve was kind and honest, which is rare in business in this day and age; especially with auto repair. Not only did Steves prices beat quotes from local companies such as Auto ER and Tires Plus, he offers a student discount, which really sweetens the deal.I dont like spending money to fix my car, same as everyone else, but I will spend it at Steves location. I got my brake lines replaced here after they rusted and started leaking brake fluid. Steve is very friendly and knowledgeable, and not at all pushy like some other mechanics (in fact, he recommended that I look into buying another car rather than paying him to fix up my current vehicle). I was also very impressed by his staffs covid precautions: everyone was wearing a mask while interacting with customers, the man who moved my car was wearing disposable gloves, and Steve gave me clorox wipes to clean my steering wheel when I picked up my car. Highly recommend.

One of the most challenging things about moving to a new area can be something you think little about until your car needs help. Finding a honest mechanic shop isnt easy. I had my car lowered by another shop which left a lot to be desired. After getting quotes from Auto ER for $378 and advance automotive for $243 both for misleading repairs such as a cracked top mount for the suspension assembly, I found this great shop. They got me in early and by the afternoon got a call to come pick up my fixed car at no cost. A simple wheel tightening and a stabilizer bar link tightening was all it needed! Wow, what a honest place I highly recommend going to this shop for peace of mind knowing anything you are charged is legitimate and not a money making scheme. Thanks so much All-Star Automotive I was at my wits end and so frustrated you made my week!

Called and asked for a quote, I had my own parts, but was told that they dont deal with advanced auto parts because they dont last long which shouldnt matter. If I wanted a junkyard part on my car thats my problem. Once I leave your shop what happens to my car is not your responsibility. To decline a potential customers request is absurd because you have some problem with a certain store. 0 stars.

She had to replace a car battery and her brother helped her replace it but it still didnt work so they had it towed to All Star Automotive and it was just a computer glitch-the computer needed to be reset and he also noticed her car needed some oil and he hardly charged her anything. Perhaps the best experience Ive had with business, ever, regardless of industry. My girlfriend was in a car accident a year and a half ago that was fairly minor except for the massive headaches it caused: the police transcribed the license plate incorrectly, and my girlfriend was passed from insurance company to insurance company for months with each denying that they covered the at-fault vehicle. After one helpful insurance rep realized the mistake and she finally was able to get her car fixed, it was still left with a horrible shake when the car reached 50+MPH. Shes been to FOUR different auto shops--2 back when lived in Boston, 1 in North Carolina, and 1 here in Gainesville-- to get this fixed and each has failed. Tire balancing, replaced bent rims, repeat tire balancing; nothing worked.On advice from the last place that balanced the tires, we decided to get it looked at for frame damage, so I took it to All Star. For $50 they found the glaringly obvious problems that had been making the car unbearable to drive for 18 months. They switched out a bad lug-nut, removed a broken, unbalanced hubcap (embarrassed that I didnt think of that), and rotated the tires for good measure. It drives smoother than ever now.Theres one more detail that really elevated this experience:When we both went in to pick up her car, the mechanic (I should have asked for his name) spoke directly to her, not me, about her car. This is a low expectation, but one that has so often not been met by our mechanics in the past. Its her car, and she knows just as much about cars as I do, so we both really appreciated this all-too-rare demonstration of respect.

Good mechanic and fair prices. They were able to squeeze me in on a busy day. They always have a lot of people when I drive by which to me is a good sign that so many like them and continue to come back.

Fantastic experience with Steve. I was sure I needed a new alternator (which would have run me $500 at least) and I was looking for someone to install it for cheap. Steve looked over my vehicle and very kindly informed me that all I needed was a new battery, which was more around the $100-$150 mark. He very easily could have taken advantage of my ignorance and made a quick buck, but he did the honest thing instead. All-Star has my business till the day I graduate. Great place.

Steve and the mechanics at All Star saved me from myself on two occasions. I had to hobble my poor Focus over after attempting to replace my own control arms. I broke one bolt and had to have the other cut off. They got me in and out in minutes on both occasions and were very fair in terms of pricing. If you ever find yourself in over your head or without the equipment you need to get the job done right, limp your lemon over and leave it to the professionals at All Star.

Steve was an absolute pleasure. Being a 20 year old girl in college, the biggest thing that people tell you to worry about with mechanics is being bamboozled or overcharged for services. I took my car in because it was making a noise and Im supposed to be going home this weekend. Steve checked on it within an hour or so and called me back. He explained the problem and said that the car would be fine to drive home and have my dad fix it. He topped off my power steering fluid so that Id be fine for the drive home and sent me on my way free of charge. When I said that my dad wouldnt be home this weekend and that Id just fix it myself, he didnt give me a crazy look or act like I couldnt do it. He just said yeah! just look up a YouTube video!, gave me advice, and gave me his cell number to call him with any questions. With all the great reviews about this shop, youd think they were fake but I can promise you that this is a great place for students to take their cars.

This place is amazing!!! The staffs were super friendly and caring. I dont know anything about car, so I panic when the plastic undercover at the front of my car came apart. It was hanging off the bottom of my car. So I decided to take my car here to get it check (after reading some reviews about different auto shops online), and I am so relieved that I did. I went in without any appointment, explained to Moody why I was there (hes the total opposite of how his name sound!), and he got right to fixing my car. I was in and out of there within 15 minutes. I also met Steve, the manager. Like all of the other reviews said, hes real sweet and courteous about his customers. He double checked with me to see if I was being taken care of. He also didnt charge me for the small and quick repair at all. As a person who doesnt know anything about car or car parts, I really appreciated this place for helping me solve my problem without trying to charge me for extra parts/problems that I wouldnt even begin to understand.

My car has been to All Star Automotive twice. The first time, I suspected that my car had a bad motor mount. I brought it in, and the owner was SUPER friendly right off the bat. They found that my passenger side motor mount was, indeed, bad, and were able to replace it at a reasonable cost within a few hours. I was at work when the car was completed, and even though they closed at 5:00, he waited until I got off of work at 6:00 so that I could come pick up the car. Fantastic experience.Fast forward a few months and my car is having the same issue. I called this morning and explained what happened, and that I got it replaced a few months back by them. My boyfriend brought the car in, and he had a similar fantastic experience with how friendly the guy was. My boyfriend heard back from him a few hours later, and the motor mount was defective. It was replaced and comped, and he even comped the oil change that I had planned to pay for anyway. Because they are so quick and friendly, bringing the car back a second time really wasnt a big deal at all.All in all, this place and the staff are AWESOME. I would recommend them to anyone needing any kind of car maintenance or repair.

Ive been to this auto repair shop twice now, and each time has been an awesome experience! Each time, my car was repaired quickly and efficiently and at an excellent price. They also give student discounts. Today, they installed a new motor in my driver side window, changed out my oil, filled my brake fluid, replaced my rear differential fluid, and even lubed all my door hinges and window tracks so that everything would be quieter and work more smoothly. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE experience!I went in to get an ignition coil replaced, a few months later I found out they put in a USED/WORN OUT coil in my 2017 Jeep. Owner Steve refused to work with my warranty company for his own personal reasons. Does not value women, especially women of color. I regret ever stepping foot in that place.

Steve is an honest and genuine guy. He, and his technician, quickly diagnosed what was wrong with my car and told me not to do the repair, because the repair would cost more than the value of my car. He could have charged me for the time he spent looking at it but all he asked was that I tip the technician. He saved me alot of time and money where other shops would have easily charged at least a hundred. Im usually skeptical of glowing reviews, but the reviews are totally right about him and his shop. Best mechanic Ive ever been to - I have a 2000 Honda Accord and have been taking it here since I purchased it used two years ago. Steve is great...straight forward, efficient repair and cost was exactly as quoted..it helps to have a mechanic in a college town that makes sure your kids ride is safe..

All Star is by far the best auto shop Ive been to in Gainesville. Steve has saved my day FIVE times so far and I can not thank him enough! Super friendly service and very honest and down to earth. I was pleasantly surprised at the price for the work they did - tuneup - which was several hundred dollars less than I had been quoted elsewhere. They have a student discount, which is great. They explained to me, in terms I could understand (Im not very mechanically inclined at all), the current state of my engine and what I could expect going forward. Overall very impressed with the service, and I will continue going back.

This place is a little slice of vehicular heaven. After several nightmare experiences trying to find a good mechanic in Gainesville (note: stay away from Parks Hyundai at ALL COST), I came across All Star Automotive on the web and thought Id give it a try. The owner, Steve, has been in business for several decades and is as knowledgeable and honest as he is kind. He fixed my airbag light for free and went out of his way to write down several codes that might correlate to it; he did a full brake inspection and brake fluid flush for $60 and gave me a 10% discount - even though I told him I wasnt a student; on a freezing day in November, he took my call at 8:30 a.m. and booked me last minute when my car was making strange noises and my back left window went down and wouldnt come up - even though his lot was full of cars; I had my car back, window up, the same day with a full explanation - and he charged me $50 instead of the original $80 we discussed. Hes the real deal, and as genuine and down-to-earth as they come. He will never do work on your car without your authorization and discussing the cost beforehand. He explains the mechanical issues in ways even I, a former English major and not at all technologically capable, can understand. He works efficiently, quickly, and on a college-grads budget, and whats more, hes friendly and engaging in person. Every time I show up, he greets me by my name and asks how my day is. Even on his busiest days, he never skips my phone call or fails to get me up to speed. I am beyond grateful for him and the ASA team, and highly recommend All Star to anyone whos looking for quality work on a penny-pinchers budget.

After reading many reviews for other auto shops and this one, I got some estimates for just a simple heat tube bypass. A couple of them were over $50, one over $80, but All Star Automotive only asked for a $20 tip to the mechanic, AND they donated engine coolant. Not to mention they were really busy but still checked my car out. Excellent staff and service, even if you know nothing about cars

I have been going to Steve for some time now, 4-5 visits with my Honda Accord...and I find the service exceptional. I would recommend his shop. He and his auto techs are very knowledgeable and competent. Trust is important and I trust my car to Steve when I cant repair it myself.

Great customer service and excellent morals. The manager Steve is a great man and does his best to ensure a good, smooth experience. The pricing is fair. I had to repalce a set of spark plugs and a coil and the price came out to about $327They correct their mistakes promptly and compensate you for it as well. You will be well informed for any improper functioning of your car and any actions that can be taken.Overall they are a spectacular and very reliable. I will go there again

Last month my truck decided to start pouring coolant two days before leaving to go home for Thanksgiving. Called all around and no other places would even look at it until the next week. When I gave this place a call they let me come in immediately and had it fixed by the end of the day. The repairs were a new coolant pump and fan clutch/belt. When I picked the truck up the cost ended up being less than they had originally quoted and, on top of that, Steve gave me a student discount. I dont usually take the time to write reviews but the service I received here was top notch and made it possible to visit my folks for the holiday.

I brought my car here because of the great reviews, and Im glad I did! I wanted a mechanic to check out my car prior to selling it, and they did their free trip inspection--even replaced a small burned out light bulb free of charge. Steve was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and I will be bringing my car (or future new car) here from now on!

The reviews are true. These guys are great. Came in with an oil leak and they found the issue in about two minutes. Got me fixed up and on my way fast.Checked to make sure I wasnt too low on oil( quart low) . I use a specific brand so I went and got one and they topped it off, blew the leaves off the area between my hood and glass, and greased up the door hinge on my squeaky driver door.BTW, Im from jax and had to trust the reviews and hope for the best. Not disappointed.

I was having huge problems with my drivers side door, forcing me to exit through the passengers side, so as you can imagine I was in a rush to get this fixed. Fortunately, Steve was able to have my door repaired within hours of dropping my car off at the shop, all for a price much less than I ever expected. As a busy student, the time and money he saved me left me extremely thankful. In my 5 years living in Gainesville, this place has unmatched quality, value, and duration of service. If you have any car problems at all, come here first, and I promise you will be satisfied.

Steve is one of the rudest people Ive encountered while at a mechanic shop. Instead of just telling me they couldnt/didnt want to work on my car, he insisted on telling me that my 6 year old car that only has 55000 miles on it was a piece of junk and I quote from his mouth I wouldnt tell anybody to buy these cars but they still build them and people like you still buy them. I just wanted my car fixed not his snobby opinion.

They checked my car for free and even gave me a free oil change after a different repair shop charged me for it but didnt actually change it. Steve, the manager was really honest and helpful! I definitely recommend this place, specially if you dont know anything about cars and dont want to be taken advantage of.

Honest and down to earth. I take all my vehicles to Steve to be serviced. Prices are always fair and uses quality parts. Ive been shopping for a newer vehicle and I take anything Im seriously considering in to All Star to be inspected. Steve has provided great advice and helped me steer clear of some lemons.

There is no place I would rather go in Gainesville for car repairs. The staff was very polite and understanding. I received a considerable student discount which made the already fair price an unbeatable deal. I would recommend them to anyone, and I will absolutely be back for any future repairs.
