Deleted my 4 year old review. I e been going to Sound Ideas for a long time. When they had repair service they always got me squared away. Meanwhile Ive bought numerous speakers and turntables from them and they are always helpful, try not to break my bank, and get me sounding good and on my way every time! Endless knowledge between the staff lets you know youre in good hands.

Sound Ideas has provided me with the absolute best service Ive had from a group of excellent and well informed individuals. Specifically David and Johnny who took the time to educate a complete beginner just for the love of the hobby which led to me purchasing a Rega P6 and pair of Martin Logan loudspeakers that both sound and work incredibly. I highly recommend Sound Ideas to both beginners, experts, and everyone in-between as a wonderful place to shop and just a pleasant place to be. I have been a Sound Ideas customer for more than 20 years. They have designed and installed automation, high performance AV and theater level surround sound in several of my homes. Paul and his staff have the expertise to complete complex installations properly (the first time) and they always make themselves available to troubleshoot or repair problems when they occur. The quality of their work is excellent but their customer service is even better; you can rely on their advice, their craftsmanship, and their integrity in any work that they do.

Honestly one of the best companies Ive ever done business with! They go above and beyond. The quality of the work is top notch. I had the team install a fully automated wifi, theatre and surround system throughout my house. It works beautifully. Kent and Russel are incredible. I was having a problem with my MC452 amplifier and took it in to get it looked at. The staff went absolutely over and above... way out of their way to help me.They helped me carry it in to the store, unpack it, and then proceeded to give it a thorough look over. The tech went as far as to remove the top and bottom covers to inspect the circuit boards and plugs. Once it was deemed safe to plug in, they hooked it up in one of their systems, and voila, there it was working again.Afterwards, they helped me pack it back up and carry it back to my truck. When I asked how much I owed them, they just smiled and told me to have a great day...... no charge.All in, I spent 2 hours at the store with a tech and a rep.Of course I hooked them up, but this kind of service is rare. Great guys!!!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are only the beginning. Paul is a great guy and has been very helpful as Ive explored different audio options. Even with my modest budget I didnt feel as if I was a burden for them.If youre looking for great headphones and audio components this is the place to go. On my last visit I found out that they carry a huge selection of tubes. Now I can indulge my tube rolling by going to a local shop instead of having to order from eBay!

Sound Ideas is a great place to shop for your electronic needs. We have been coming here to see Paul for years and have always been very satisfied. We have bought many stereo components over the years and even had old ones repaired. We were always completely satisfied! Recently we had them install a high end outdoor antennae and Kevin did a wonderful job! He was spot on for everything he needed. Great experience with the whole SI team. Sales, delivery and technical help was timely and I achieved a sound that was beyond live to what I would term studio production concert. Chris came out to our site and diagnosed the issue quickly. He also spent some extra time helping the staff learn how to operate the video screen properly and even spoke to the original installer on our behalf. Excellent customer service and reasonable rates!

I went to find an pretty common adapter for analog video equipment. The fellow that I asked acted like he didnt want to bother with selling me the adapter. The adapter is still in use for many applications regarding security camera installations, so that installers can use cabling that is already in place. After that, the signal is converted to digital, to install the new equipment.He told me that when they need adapters they order them...which makes sense. But he didnt even care enough to look in his parts drawers. I guess I wasnt spending enough money for him to care.This...is why retail is dying...which is coincidentally, exactly what it smells like in the store. If you need an equipment/installer services, they might be your place. Probably not the best place for the technically proficient, or to get any parts...place is set up as a showroom for luddites.They fix old electronics measurement and development equipment, or at least that is what the store guy told me. Not that I would ever bring my equipment there for service or calibration. Guy also said they were a couple weeks behind in for these services. I briefly thought of how I might be able to help with their backlog... I always liked working that old stuff... But, just like the store man I didnt care enough to help...they couldnt afford me anyways.

Have been doing business with Paul & Larry for at least the past DECADE( man is it that long!). They have treated me with respect and given me a lot of good advice. It is rare to find a brick and mortar store that carries a great many high end brands and has stock to sell. The pricing is fair and reasonable for all the service that you are given. It is also unusual to be able to trade in your old components if you need to. All I can say is KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I hope to able to be able to trade with you for the next DECADE.

I just moved to the area and had most of the components for my new house. Paul and his crew gave me a very fair deal to install everything I had. He mounted a TV in the office and a big screen in the living room about the stone covered fireplace. Very professional and sleek looking. I liked the fact that he only used and sold me what was necessary for this install. Nothing overdone. Great job!

Was putting together a new sound system and the turntable given to me by my in-laws needed a new cartridge. My neighbor recommended Sound Ideas, and sure enough, they were great. Just purchased a pair of speakers at Sound Ideas. It was a pleasant experience. These people are experts at all matters electronic. Ive been working with them for many years and do not hesitate to consult with them on everything from new flat-screens, to older turntables. They spend time with each customer, and carefully explain everything to you. The most recent repair was to an old boob tube that had a marvelous picture--they repaired it for me and then actually repaired the remote that hadnt worked in years. They are absolute professionals.

I cant explain how pleased I have been with this store. They carry everything from used and entry level gear to high end hi-fi, and the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Paul and the staff have always been extremely knowlegeable and over the top helpful. Chris has installed the last 2 maybe three entertainment systems in my house. He knows the products, what needs to be done and is very caring about the quality of work he does. He and Paul also are very patient with me when I call with questions after the install! I have purchased TVs, receivers, amps, speakers, DVDs, DVRs, CD players, phono cartridges, headphones and more from them over the years. I have always been given great advice and they never try to sell you something you dont need or out of your budget range. Even though they are very competitive with their pricing I would rather pay more and buy from them than go somewhere else they are that good at what they do and trustworthy!

I dont know what I would do without Sound Ideas. Ive been working with them for about 15 wonderful years, and over that time my system has morphed many times. It is primarily audio, but then helped me incorporate about the nicest home theater that I could imagine a few years ago. We just moved from Gainesville and assumed that it would be easy to find another shop to replace them. It isnt! Ive kept up a long-distance relationship, and Paul and the whole team have been incredibly helpful working with me to solve problems, including FEDEXing test and loaner gear to make certain things are right. It is without doubt the best place to go if you need fantastic gear, knowledge, and support.

People here make the store as much as its wide range of products. They are audioheads with great personalities, history, and passion for music equipment and casual to serious enthusiasts.I purchased a used Denon receiver from them, which works as it was described on the condition blurbs they tag to all their used merchandise. Through to after hours, we walked through products and even their market values on eBay to settle for a bargain price. We then stayed later and reminisced on the yester years of hi-fi audio.

Paul and his colleagues at Sound ideas are excellent. I bought a Sony TV, speakers (wall and ceiling installed), subwoofer, receiver from Sound ideas. They installed them and also installed ethernet switches for the home. Everything works flawlessly. We had small built in cabinets and no subwoofer would fit, but Paul researched different subwoofers and came up with a suitable one for our system. He even brought a power cord that would allow us to install it without additional charges.Pricing is upfront and honest and although there are multiple pricey options available (they have a lot of shiny toys), Paul and his team never push you to buy anything you are uncomfortable with.Just define a budget to sound ideas and they will come up with a great solution for you.Sound ideas is local and by buying local you are supporting the local economy as well.One of my best experiences with any business in Gainesville FL.

Ive been an audioholic since my teen years and have lived in more than a few cities on the way to Gainesville, establishing relationships with what we called stereo stores in the past all along the way. So it was a pleasure after moving to Gainesville discovering Sound Ideas. Paul and Larry have incredible institutional knowledge about high end and mid-range home audio going back to the 50s and 60s. You dont find that much knowledge under one roof anyway today. Well you may, but theyre stuck up and too good to talk to you. Ive been a customer for 16 years now and will be forever. Pricing is fair and their service and installation department is second to none. Ive been in the store with customers from all over the state of Florida who drive to Gainesville to deal with these guys. Enough said. You cant go wrong.

I have enjoyed a relationship with Sound Ideas for 12 years. Sound Ideas has provided component and install services at the time of my moving into my last three homes. I feel that Sound Ideas is by far the best run local business that I deal with anywhere. I will give a few situations in why anyone considering Sound Ideas should work with them. The in-house professionals and also their install specialists that I dealt with in 2002, are all still very much a part of Sound Ideas. You will never find that with ANY Big Box retail house. Recounting the last project that we worked on. I required both Wifi for my Smartphone and for Streaming Netflix etc..Their Commercial expertise exposed me to far more advanced options to achieve our goals. Specifically by utilizing Netgear Power over Ethernet which provided my TV with zero loss of Internet Strength. My internet feed goes through my homes power grid, and the cost was minimal. As a resident of Gainesville I have a lot of pride in the fact that UF has utilized Sound Ideas Commercial Services for years. More recently they provided all gear and services for the new GPD HQ, and they will be providing similar services to the new RTS / Bus Transit Facility. They are also extremely competitive. I look forward to a very long future relationship with Sound Ideas.
