Great fit all things outdoor. This store has a wonderful staff. Were getting ready for our first backpacking trip and they helped us fit our packs and gave some great tips. Wonderful experience.
Awful customer service! The cashier had an attitude the moment I started the check out process. I had a situation with two separate orders I had made online. I tried explaining I wanted to cancel one item that was a jacket and I thought she understood me, but she barely heard what I said! Very inattentive and no common sense. She canceled my other item that was a bag instead that I intended to pick up in store. Never returning.
As an Outdoorsy person, I feel like I need to be led into the store with a bag over my head, otherwise, Ill get side tracked and want to look at EVERYTHING. The employees are always helpful, respectful, extremely knowledgeable, and eager to help. The stores layout is very clean and organized, making finding anything in the store easy.I especially appreciate all of the staff that keep making my visits enjoyable.
I brought my buddy in to buy a new pack and got the best help ever from Joe Voss. I go to REIs across the country and have to say that sometimes its hard to deal with somebody that doesnt know what their talking about.. REI needs more guys like Joe.Further more, Hannah upstairs was of great help as well including the kindest turn down of a date offer Ive ever had. Very nice crew.
Had what I was looking for. Wish they had a larger selection of long sleeve hiking shirts but its the middle of summer in Fresno. At least I know my size for a couple brands they carry and can order them from the website.
The staff is wonderful. Store is very organized. But I have a few gripes. All the basic essentials I needed for a simple backpacking trip was out of stock. Even clothing is lackluster. If you go online, and try pick up in store for multiple things, they do not have it. Its very annoying seeing as its the only REI in town.I had such a hard time finding things such as a shovel, and headlamps. I could not figure out their organization for those things
I live in MN, so I love coming to REI in CA for clearance cold weather clothes! Lol. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Clean store. Fun staircase.
The staff was amazingly helpful in general. 👍👍👍 They were very patient and attentive to help me find the right backpack. A girl with green hair (I forgot to ask her name, she is good) and Steven gave us some great tips and adjustments when I was trying on. I like the designs and colors of Osprey, but after loading up some weights and walking around in the store, I know that they just dont fit my body type. And the REI surprisedly fits me better. Carrying the same weights, but I felt it so much lighter and comfortable. If you want to find a right backpack, you definitely would want to try them in the stores first. Go to talk to these amazing staff and have them help you out.
The store isnt as big as other REI, but the staff was super helpful as always. Travis helped me pick out a great pair of climbing shoes (definitely ask for his help if youre looking for a pair of your own). They didnt seem to find the size he suggested for the model I wanted, but I was able to find them in the San Luis Obispo store (I was heading there that same day). Anyway, I followed his advice on the size, and theyre perfect! Very happy with my purchase.
They are a great store, super helpful. All their employees are experienced campers, hikers, outdoors people. If you have a question they will be able to help you. Heavily recommend becoming a member for the discounts and yard sales they have throughout the year.
Electric bikes ride them in store demo. MAHALO🤙guys for letting me ride the bike down the stairs. Sorry for being awesome 🤘🌭
Thank you for always having team members nearby when we have questions! Also grateful for the helpful, quick team at the front of the store.
This is a really good store! Staff are super friendly and helpful. Was really impressed with their knowledge and help with planning to going up to Yosemite next week.
The young gentleman that helped me is very knowledgeable in hiking boots. I tried on different brands best fit was Oboz. Tried them out today and they seem to fit well. Bought mens Darn tough socks also they fit better than the womens that I bought there before I have large calves these dont roll down. Also bought Oboz inserts for my Lowa boots that I bought there last fall. I have to say the Oboz boots are way better fit. Next time I come down the mountain Ill be back by to get more Darn tough socks.
The bike repair shop at the Fresno REI did a great job on my bike repair with a quick turn around time.
REI BIKE SHOP TO THE RESCUEI recently took up cycling with the purchase of a COOP Bike at REI. Was enjoying myself and a friend suggested a ROAD bike instead of my COOP Hybrid. Found a great deal on a used Road Bike. After riding it for several months with flat pedals, the same friend started to needle at me to switch to clipless pedals. After enough needling, I decided to make the switch. Tried to remove the previous pedals and found they were seized and I was not able to get them to budge. Stopped by REI Fresno with the bike and new pedals. After about thirty minutes, the technician with some penetrating spray and elbow grease was able to remove the pedals. He then offered to install the clipless pedals for me.Absolutely the best part - All that work and NO CHARGE.Have been and still am a fan of the customer service I get at REI.
Ethan was very helpful with my selection of a new sleeping pad. He clearly knew the inventory, the pros & cons of the various options, and help me pick the pad that best fit my needs!
Very friendly staff I bought my REI Mountain Bike 1.1 here as well as my backpacking pack jetboil system and much much more the dried food is also very good from Mountain House great for camping backpacking hiking etc.
Love everything except the prices... lol. Staff is generally helpful, and you can depend on the availability of a quality product selection to choose from. Either way out the door its gonna cost ya
My experience was fine. walked in, someone helped me within mins, received assembled bike, they passed on all needed info, out the door. just like i like it! would go 5, but all as planned, nothing truly exceptional.
Not deserving of one star. I used to shop this particular location a lot in 2019. All of the folks were super helpful and very polite. I dont know what happened during 2020, but they are so rude inattentive and not worthy of the customers that walk in. I was there with a friend on Saturday to get some odds and ends for my new bike. The 1st guy who addressed us (didnt catch his name, but he was short with tattoos all on his neck w/ dark hair.) was extremely rude. I prepared to walkout empty handed. However, another young man came to my rescue and answered all of my questions and I left satisfied with my purchase.Unfortunately, one of the items didnt work out and I had to go back into return it today. Again encountered extremely rude MOD (manager on duty) this time. He ignored the fact that I was waiting in line and help some random person who wasnt even at the line at all. I guess I was standing on the line marked Line Starts Here for my health. What an *ss. I need to figure out how to get a refund on the membership. Why would I EVER go there again? NOT!Side note: Dont have them service your bike. They have no idea what theyre doing.
Small store but a diversity of inventory and ordering as needed is easy. Staff friendly, knowledgable and chill. I ordered sandals one time for vacation, drove to northern Washington state, and had them delivered to my hosts home. No problem. Picked them up in time to hop in the kayaks.
I enjoy having this REI close to home. They have a decent variety of products to suit whatever you want to do outside.
The guys at the bike shop are courteous, attentive, helpful and very knowledgeable with regard to bike stuffs. A few days ago I dropped in for a flat repair. Upon picking up my bike, I noticed the rear tire was wiggling. Came back and brought it to Ryans attention. He told me it could be a loose bearing. Asked me to wait while he took a quick look and fixed it. Problem solved. Didnt charge me a penny for the additional service. Thats above and beyond customer service and one happy customer. The people at the front door are friendly as well and always greets the customer. For the most part, people who work here are friendly, attentive and helpful.
They didnt have what I needed but the gentleman directed me to a competitor that did have stock in the item I needed. Thank you, you made my day.
Incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The stock is a little light but thats probably driven by purchase metrics. The loan department is fantastic and I appreciate that theyre taking necessary precautions for sanitizing and continuing to loan out gear.
I liked REI. Its clean and it has an upstairs where the rest of the products are. 1st time being there. ☺ Thank you. My husband and i bought a sleeping bag for our son.☺
They wouldn’t return my original fork, after I had them install a new Surly Long Haul Trucker fork on my singlespeed commuter about six months ago.The installation wasnt very good—they cut the steering tube so it doesn’t sit flat against the top cap. I had to file it down and it’s still not quite right. It’s held up fine, but had I known they would do sub-par work and that they were going to keep the part that was being replaced I would have just bought the tools to do it myself.I’m still mad about the theft of my original fork though. Who does that? I would have never agreed to that up front. If they weren’t holding my primary source of transportation hostage at the time, I would have taken them to small claims court. I was planning on using that fork for another bicycle. It was only after they did the work that I was told they were going to keep my fork for no apparent reason. I like REI, and wanted to be able to recommend their bike shop but they’re not trustworthy.
A very neat store. Found awesome things I need in the future.
Love REI...... awesome place everyone is in outdoor mode so place is kinda empty. But still love it. Always great service. Jacob at the register was a sweet heart, super helpful and made me laugh.
The bikes are very expensive. The sales people are rude
Ive always like REI. Good equipment and the people can give you insight into whatis needed or they can find another staff member who has used the product
Great place, great service, love their service and store. Highly recommend
Went in there to look at some bikes, saddles, and tubes. Associates were present, and welcoming, but very few were actually helpful. So, I went across the street to Rubber Soul and purchased everything over there.
As an REI Co-op member I have both given and received many REI gift cards every year. Last year my husband gave me a $100.00 REI e-card (piece of paper) which I do not care for. When I went to the Fresno REI requesting to exchange it for two $50.00 hard cards, they refused and told me “you can’t buy a gift card with a gift card”.As a previously loyal customer, the bad feeling I have from being refused such a simple request has ensured that I will never set foot in this store again.ACoffman
Helpful staff. Got my hiking boots, socks, and hydration backpack from here.
Very helpful staff
Have to wear a mask. Stand up to tyranny.
Very helpful staff
Knowledgeable helpful staff ... safe environment ... excellent selection of high quality functional products
Was great experience despite everything... Staff constantly cleaning, was friendly and never got frustrated. Was nice to see.
All the best hiking and backpacking gear here! Great deals
In Early June 2020, I purchased a CTY 1.1 Hybrid bike and used curbside pickup. The entire process was seamless and the staff was extremely helpful. Fast Forward to the beginning of August and almost 1200 miles later. The bike developed a constant noise that was very annoying. I took the bike into the Fresno REI service department and in less than thirty minutes they had identified the bottom bracket as the culprit and replaced-upgraded it - no charge. The next day I noticed a slight rub from the chain on the derailleur. Took it back and again it was fixed in minutes - no charge. I could not be happier with my decision to use REI for my bicycle needs.
Went in looking for some hiking boots but the people there were snobbish so I went to boot barn. I was much happier with the service there and I will never go to REI again.
I really like this store, but they quit selling skis at the same time Herb Bauer closed -- so no more ski shop in Fresno. Im giving them two stars for their excellent hiking equipment and the fact that they have a ski tech shop. But skiing is my absolute favorite sport. Ill add the remaining three stars back in when they come to their senses and start selling ski equipment again (I dont have much hope though).
Needed so much gear for a hike and they had mostly everything available in store. I did order a lot online for color purposes. Patty was such a great help in assisting me in finding the correct hiking shoe. Which i definitely recommend for those that dont hike often. Trying on makes all the difference. Thanks Patty! Love when a store has knowledgeable staff.
Rei member, love this place. Been going here for years for the important stuff. Literally drive 2 hours to get what I really need and dont want to ship, which tbh has been once but it was them or 30 dollars for shipping that wasnt necessarily guaranteed to be here by the time of my trip. And this store is massive, Im not surprised it had stock when others didnt. Masks required and place looks very clean and req social distancing in line. No complaints and a lot of positives.
Awesome,The staff was friendly and ready to help.I bought some boots and water shoes and the dude was ready and patience with my needs.
Absolutely love this store! Easy 5 stars for excellent customer service and amazing products in store!
Great customer service!
Yes, its expensive but the quality of their equipment cant be compared to. The staff is knowledgeable, patient and friendly. When my daughter was hiking the Trans Sierra trail to My. Whitney, they took the time to load her down to appropriately adjust and fit her pack. The class they offer are also top notch. Very knowledgeable staff
REI is the toy store for anything outdoors. While expensive, thats the brands and quality of the product, the cheap stuff on Amazon can be a good bargain or a waste. Here you pay for the mid to high end stuff and the staff is very helpful. They will go out of their way to help you find the right product. Warranty here is great too.
Great bike repair techs and shop - speedy, friendly and high quality work!
Lots of stuff for the hiker, backpacker, etc. Very good service. But if you are looking for a sales item, its better to go online and have it shipped to the store. While they have a wide selection, they seem to run out of popular sizes and colors of clothing items. Tents, supplies, backpacks and other similar items you can probably find what you need there.
The products here are great. REI brand items are excellent in quality in addition to all the other big brands in outdoor equipment which this store carries. I wish the prices were a bit lower, but as a co-op member I typically get 10% back every year, so it is as if all items are always 10% off. The return policy is great. I had some crummy gear that I held onto for years hoping I could get it to work right. I returned it without any problems.Staff here has been helpful since the store opened. The only time Ive had trouble finding someone is during their busy times or sales. They are friendly and knowledgeable about gear and about nearby hikes. Its hard to restrain myself from talking to them for too long about recent hikes or hikes Im dreaming of.The Used Gear Sale is great, I saved over $100 just by buying slight used gear the one time I was able to make it to the sale. Im still wearing the pair of shoes and the pants I bought a year and a half ago.Ive kicked myself several times for buying gear elsewhere and being less than satisfied with it, wishing other stores had as good of a return policy. Ill look around at other stores and online but I almost always wind up buying from this REI.
Went with husband to purchase boots, which he had previously purchased a few years ago. The boots were not on sale and posted on their boot wall for $130, which my husband and I both identified at the great price as previously he got them for $110 on sale. When we went to the register they rang up $145. The cashier was very helpful and went through the process to verify the amount. She stated that the ones we had were the waterproof and were additional. My husband had a discussion with the salesman in the section about the boots being waterproof. She called her manager and then my husband went back up and the price was changed! Wow, $145 the sign reads now. We even identified for the salesman that he put them in the wrong spot, and when my husband looked the tag reflected $145. I hope you are happy your got your $15. #DisappointedWithLackOfIntegrity
You want great equipment at high end prices? REI is it! (I say this tongue in cheek. :-) ) REI is a great store but you can find the same items online for less. Their staff is quite knowledgeable, friendly, and know how to create a great buying experience. Most of the staff spend their off-work time in the sport that their department supports. Dont be afraid to ask them about their outdoor activities and what equipment they use.Highly recommend but hang on to your wallet! ;-)
Simply the best store on its kind !! Expensive as well..
Clean store...helpful staff!
I love this store for the wonderful variety of sporting equipment and footwear. They carry some high quality shoes for cold weather, hiking, and any adventure you can think of. Its located in Riverpark shopping center and has lots of available parking. Its a beautiful store that is always clean and fun to shop at.
The best customer service ever! Conner was helping me out in the footwear department. I couldnt have asked for a more patient, understanding, one-in-a-million kind of personality person to have helped me out! REI is the only place Ill shop now for all my fitness, footwear, etc, needs!
Ive only been here twice and years apart but both times my experience was good. My latest, I ordered online and did a pick up. It was easy, fast and the lady at the register was very nice. There were only a few customers there, I was the only one in line. I cant stand busy places though so I was happy. Everything looked neat and in order. I wish I could work here!
I spend a lot of time outdoors and always rely on REI to have just what I need. Whether I’m shopping online or in person REI always has what I need and at affordable prices too. Love this store!
Fantastic store! Love the products
Anne and John are very helpful. If what you want isnt on the shelf they will check stock with a handy-dandy doohickey. Im pretty sure it is permanently attached to Annes hand. The Zombie Prep class was a BLAST! Returns are easy, if you need to. The only improvement I would suggest is to have more help upstairs. When shopping in ladies wear I often have to go in search of a store clerk. Whereas I like space when shopping, having to leave the area one is in to get answers or have the dressing room unlocked is a minor imposition.
Great attitude with employees. Sale prices great on what i wanted. Some brands they carry are pretty expensive, high end stuff. But they do an annual refund also.
Loaded with quality fitness stuff
Please start selling skis and snowboards. I can get them at the Reis in Long Beach but I cant get it in a city an hour drive away from a ski resort? And yet you carry ice axes and snow shoes?
REI is a great place to gear up, quality gear and most people know how to advise you well. They have everything you need to get outdoor and explore from day hikes to multiday rugged terrain adventures. They even offer classes on different skills for the non initiated woodman in you. Tonight we went to the Geocaching International Film Festival graciously host here for the first time and had a blast. Its nice to have a store that supports the communities various outdoor hobbies.
Very rarely will you ever find a company like REI. I cannot think of another store that has treated me as good as they have. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly and service is second to none. I have never been disappointed with them in the last 10 years of shopping here.
Took my bicycle in on Easter to have a tire repaired, and all I can say is it was the best service Ive experienced. Not only was the bike specialist knowledgeable, but also very nice and gave great information regarding my bike that I did not have to ask for.Spoke to 2 other sales people there and everyone was very, very nice.Ill be back, and continue to promote a store that is above average in everyway .Thank you so very much.
Two story building, didnt see what they had upstairs. All REI are a bit different, but mostly all the same toys & goodies us adventurers can put to good use.
Not as much inventory as before for children
Bad customer service. My husband went in to return a Thule Force XL Roof Box and the girl in the front desk gave him a hard time. So unprofessional. REIs police is no hassle return... some one needs to tell her that!!
Always a pleasant shopping experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Nancy is amazing!
I did some shopping while waiting to attend one of their short courses (i.e. Pincushion Peak hike). Either they have quite a few shoplifting problems or the employees are instructed to watch carefully for shoplifting. I dont know if it is racial profiling or general appearance, but I noted a couple of other posts having the same concern. When I was there, I didnt see any employee that wasnt white.
Great place! Great customer service with very knowledgeable staff! Your fitness/wilderness store to go!
Ive been a member for over 25 years and this is one of their best stores with friendly and helpful employees. When I needed a rush on getting my bike fixed, they were there. When I needed help picking out a pair of shoes, I had it. When I wanted to purchase an out-of-stock item, the cashier found and ordered it for me from another store. Thanks for being the best outdoors store in the country!
A trip from Sanger, busy on weekends. But the products they carry are top notch, I love the outdoors and REI carries great products to get me there. The staff is knowledgeable and cortorous, and you can ask them personal questions when they are enthusiasts in the same sport or activity. One of my favorite places.
Great store, prices are higher than other but they give you dividends and give back so much to the environment.
We went 20 minutes before closing and the employees were still very nice and informative.
Love it! Top 5 stores
Online it says people generally spend around 45 minutes in the store. Based on my experience today, most of that time is spent waiting in line at the register. And there was only one person ahead of me.I sure wont make that mistake again.
Beautiful store with great selection but warning to my fellow tall ladies, they do not have any tall pants in the store.
Ryan at the ski shop gave us the best customer service! Thanks!
My family and I were followed around the store by a Caucasian middle-aged woman who gave us snarky looks. We went into the store looking for Hunter boots & as I tried to grab a pair to look at them closely, she told me “don’t touch the boots.” This is extremely unprofessional and rude. Overall, I feel as though the situation was racial profiling. I will NOT be returning, my business will be taken elsewhere.
Great customer service and clean and spacious
This is a smaller but solid REI. Employees know their stuff and are always willing to help and share their insight.
More than likely
REI carries basically anything hiking and camping related that you need. They also carry stuff like rock climbing gear. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Sales staff very knowledgeable and helpful. REI is the best place to shop for hiking and backpacking gear. Our family has been shopping there since they opened in Fresno
Always yummy for your yummy and great portions, so bring an appetite. Rj😈
Went into spend $300 on a decent pair of waterproof hiking boots, but unsure of a good shoe for my need..plenty of staff, but no help...maybe it was my appearance...who knows.I know one thing. They didnt get my $300.
I have shopped at REI Many timesBut what made me appreciate them even more was there classesI recently learned they give classesThe class topics range from bike maintenance to using the bathroom in the outdoorsI loved the class i attended about international travel and plan to continue attending classes at this location
Great stuff but overpriced. Just ordered what I liked for 10% to 25% less online. Price match and Ill be a regular shopper.
