Today I went into the studio and what a amazing treasure! Sandy was there today after being out from taking care of her husband and I know her time was special and she was trying to get caught up but she was the kindest person who has a talent out of this world. She has passion for what she does and it shows. She is an amazing teacher and designer. She could of just sold me something and went on about her day but she didnt! I now have found a new hobby and a new friend. I would recommend this store to everyone and cant wait to go back myself! Her work is amazing and her detail in everything she does. I cant wait to take a class and learn from her. Also I bet her retreats are amazing because of her knowledge she shares. If you get a chance stop by and see the amazement. Thank you Sandy!
WHAT A GEM!!!I have been needlepointing for around 20 yrs and just found Sandy’s store in Fredericksburg, TX. Having been in shops all over the states and Europe I had an idea of what to expect.... Nope! The owner (Sandy) was at the counter and graciously showed me her canvases (she paints them herself by the way), huge supply of threads, beads, notions and hard to find items.I was impressed with the large selection of items and her knowledge of stitches, crazy quilts, and other forms of handicraft and art. When expressed my surprise to her that a shop in a small town had so much to offer, and she explained that she and her husband moved there to retire and are happy with a slower pace.Apparently she has taught all over the US and even at the Royal School of Embroidery in England. She has had students that have been with her 30 years! I got to meet a few of them since there was a class going on that day. You have to schedule in advance to get into one of the classes, and she also does retreats (but those are usually booked years in advance).I will definitely be stopping by again. Especially since I purchased a bee canvas and kit that she has on display with many others in the front room of the store.Thank you Sandy for helping me with some stitches and giving me something to look forward to in the future!
I have attended Sandys monthly Saturday class for several years now, driving 1.5 hours to and from. She is thorough, helpful, and makes needlepoint exciting, which keeps me wanting to come back. I look forward to her lessons and tips.
This is the best needlepoint shop in Texas. All original designs. This is a must stop while in Fredericksburg
Wonderful needlepoint canvases. Sandy is a wonderful designer and so helpful with suggesting stitches and threads.
A few years ago I had heard what great selection of needlepoint materials they carry so I finally decided to pop in. Upon entering I was immediately greeted (more like bombarded) by a very large older man who immediately wanted to know what I wanted. I really wasnt looking for anything specific so I said I was just looking for now. I expected him to just say ok, let me know if you have any questions like any normal person being payed to tend to a store that obviously is not theirs would (I work on main street in a shop, I would know) but instead he persisted to follow me around with his arms folded at a very uncomfortable distance. I couldnt even concentrate on looking, I was so uncomfortable....especially since I was pregnant and unaccompanied. I just simply just left without another word and was escorted out the door. The following week when I had a day off, I decided Id give it another go and hoped that there would be someone else working there since I REALLY wanted to see if they had anything nice. I was mistaken. This time, as soon as I walked in, I was bombarded again by the same bully. Not only that, but this time he asked me what are you looking for? with the same aggression as before. I asked if they carried DMC thread because no where in town sells it anymore. I was hoping by asking this that it would assure him that I came in peace. He simply said Nope and continued to stand there staring at me,...wouldnt even let me walk past. I said oh, ok....do you sell any kind of embroidery thread? (obviously they do, its an embroidery shop!). His reply was I said no. no thread. and he preceded to grab my arm, physically use his strength to turn me toward the door and, I kid you not, PUSH me out and actually made me fall down onto the porch. He then slammed the door in my face after telling me that it was rude to ask the same question twice. I shouldve called the cops. Who in their right mind thinks its ok to physically assault a customer? Especailly an 8 months pregnant one?Im sure they have a great selection in their shop....but I guess Ill never know. I wonder if the owner knows he is PHYSICALLY turning away customers.
