OH MY GAWD. this place is so good! Lots of tea for a surprisingly low price. The lady who works here is also really nice! I got a milk tea with taro and tapioca, 16oz and it only cost 6 dollars! Way better than the too sour/too sweet place in the mall! You wont regret stopping here!
I have visited Tea Tyme twice with my husband and children. The teas and smoothies are delicious. I especially love the flavored popping pearls. She has a good variety of flavors to choose from. The lady in the shop was very pleasant and polite. I will definitely be going back, and my husband and children say the same thing.
Very interesting little tea shop downtown. First Boba/Bubble Tea experience. I was pleasantly surprised and wished I had ordered two. I tried mango peach with dragon fruit pearls. Loved it!
Took a fair time to receive order, but shop was crowded at the time. Great selection and choices, great tea, good pricing. Very nice lady working the place. I definitely recommend the honey-lemon tea, but it is VERY sweet!
Bubble tea is great and a decent price for the tea you can pick between popping pearls and jelly with an extensive flavor selection your base can be tea or a smoothie, lots of variety though the atmosphere is just okay in the store.
Was in the area and wanted some bubble tea so I found this place and was immediately impressed with it. Their prices are including tax so its easy to calculate costs and as you can see they have a pretty decent selection of teas if you want a brew. Will definitely stop here a few more times whenever Im in the area
The bubble teas seem to be the main draw. We went for the tea for two (high tea?) $50. Lady was very nice but the food was subpar. Scones were too stale to eat and other food was mediocre. Tea was fair. Old town Fredericksburg but inside was fairly run down. Based on other reviews, Im sure the owner will have a snarky comment
I traveled all the way from Alexandria to come here. I sat down and the owner walked past me a few times and did not acknowledge me or my daughter. Another customer came in and she took their order. I walked up to the counter to ask for a menu and she proceeded to say that she could not service me because there was another table that she was serving. Then she said that she could I would just have to wait. So I looked over the menu. At that time another customer came in and she took their order. So I walked up to the front to place our order and then she said again she could not service us-- after she took two orders ahead of me. I know when I am not welcome so I will not be supporting. This place is definitely not friendly to black people. I would stay away.
The tea is great but the service is very very slow. The atmosphere could improve
Best bubble tea I’ve ever had. I got coconut milk tea with tapioca pearls and it was delish. The lady at the store was super sweet. Will definitely go again. Highly recommend!
My daughter seen other kids walking around downtown with the light bulb looking drinks and asked someone where they got it and they directed us to the Bubble Tea Shop. Kind of unique and hidden, Ive walked by this place many times and couldnt tell you what was in here. As you walk in the store they sell gift items in the front, looks like a coffee shop on one side and a sign that points to bubble teas on the other. Needless to say, by daughter and niece each ordered a vanilla bubble tea and they really like them. My brother order a smoothie and he said it was good and they use real fruit in the smoothie. If you bring back the bulb shaped cups and reuse them, you receive a quarter discount on your next order. Only suggestion is to redesign store layout, most people I seen enter store were there for the bubble tea, so that should be more visible.
The decor is a bit off putting, I wish it would be more of a ambiance to sit and have music in the background and such with cute decorations. The menu is extensive and it’s kind of a lot to look at. As for the taste of the tea I think it’s fantastic, but the tapioca pearls (boba) isn’t very great, seemed kind of old and bland when I got my drink. Also the price is a bit expensive for one 16 oz drink. Overall not bad though.
I saw a review stating the woman working here not responding well to black people, but I dont feel that is the explicit reasoning. My boyfriend and I (black, hispanic) came and had a normal interaction. There might have been something else.I can agree with comments that she does at times come off as a little rude, but she was very attentive and gave us lots of information more often so it didnt come across as rudeness. I think it is more being direct.Drinks were made fast and tasted great aside from the crunchy centers of the tapioca pearls (boba/bubbles).I have a condition and my body reacts poorly to highly processed foods, and the drink gave me no issue! Im going to be coming back often! Way better than the place at the mall at this moment..
The owner was very nice and served us delicious boba tea!
This spot is a nice cute spot to enjoy a snack/drink. Their is a nice assortment of drinks for those looking for Boba, Coffee and Milkshakes. The place is also nicely decorated with nice knick knacks.
I went with a friend today to get a bubble tea for the first time. To say it was amazing is a understatement. The lady in the store was very patient with both of us. She told us about the different teas and coffees. And explained to us the different in the bubbles. We will definitely be back.
Nice lady and decent boba tea. Visited multiple times.
A great Bubble Tea shop! Every time Im in town, I buy there! I highly recommend!. The Tea shop has many options for flavor and bubbles! (My favorite is Strawberry Green Tea with Strawberry popping bubbles!) Its very homey in there as well.
The popping pearls in milk tea are very good!
The best bubble tea in fredericksburg. This lady is amazing, so kind and makes the absolute best bubble tea I have ever had. Her prices are perfect, she has a million options, and everything is dairy-free which makes it accessible for everyone. Tapioca and popping pearls are available for toppings. Youd never in a million years know that theres no milk in it. You wont regret it. Also they serve food as well! Sandwiches, etc. Please try before ordering Boba from one of the chains. Never watered down.
I enjoy taking my children here when were walking dowtown for boba tea. Weve been coming here since she has opened, and the offerings as well as the teas are great and have gotten better since they first opened, for sure! Also, there are more tables for sitting and enjoying the store. Pre-pandemic it seemed to be 50/50 giftshop / teashop, and now it is definitely a place where you can go with a small group of friends / family and sit down inside and have a tea and talk. A big menu with lots of tea options!
This place is all about tea. Bubble tea, lose tea leaves, tea sets, the works. It smelled amazing inside. There were a million choices. And the tea was delicious.
If your anything like me, you go through and read all reviews to make sure it’s going to be worth while going to and spending money on. I was kind of tempted to not come due to a bad a review left by a customer, not because of the complaint, but the way the owner responded. Not sure if he was mad because he was left with a one star or what but it was very unprofessional and you could tell he was angry over ONE bad review...anyway I still went and I mean it wasn’t anything great, prices are kind of average it’s kind of messy in there and it doesn’t have the BEST smell, I would say the tea isn’t anything special, it looked like all the customers were having a good time though. The waitress at the front came off a little rude, but who knows that might just be due to her long day at work. We might try again.
A super fun experience. The flavored teas are good, I do like the pearls in the bubble (boba) tea but theyre super sweet so beware if ya dont like sweet stuff
Everything is non-dairy! Love it
First time having Taro milk tea 😋 and it was delicious!! 🤤 and the lady was so nice ❤️
I have had boba teas in California Florida and Ohio and wanted to try it here as well. Not disappointed. Wide variety and expertly made.
A tad bit overpriced but a really cool and cute atmosphere with an amazing owner
Do not waste your time or money at Tea Thyme on Caroline street in Fredericksburg, VA. The Royal Tea tiered tray was awful. The tea sandwich bread was dried out. The cucumber sandwiches were just thick slices of cucumber with Mayo. The dessert layer was just a lot of dried out cookies which I am sure were store bought with little to no taste. Definitely Nothing special. My group had reservations but the service was slow and communication was difficult. There was a lot of fruit on top layer some pieces had never been cored and others were dark from oxidation. I guess we should have checked it out before making reservations. It was extremely disappointing. Wont be going back there again.
My girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beverages served at this shop. They offer a wide variety of unique and delicious boba, milk tea, and smoothies and are happy to mix flavors and create any drink you like. I got a kiwi smoothie with green apple + cranberry popping pearls and it was excellent. My girlfriend got lavender milk tea with yogurt popping pearls. It was so delightful that we decided to come back the very next day. The lady that worked the register and made our beverages was very kind and willing to help with any questions we had!
This place is very clean and welcoming. The lady who serves me is always polite. The milk teas are unbeatable, and the sandwiches are delicious!! There are several drinks you can choose from, so youll never get bored. There are also cute trinkets for sale if youre into that kind of stuff. Finally, they sell the teas that they brew so if you like what you get, you can take it home with you! Absolutely recommend this place for anyone wanting a quick bite or a refreshing drink. If youre curious about what I usually get, I get the Vanilla Chai milk tea with passion fruit popping pearls.
Teas are amazing and the staff was super helpful, knowledgeable, and nice!! Will definitely return!!!
Came all the way from Culpeper and they were closed. People were in there but the door was locked. Even called and nobody answered. Very disappointed. Its a Saturday wth!!!!?
Lady at the counter is very sweet and the cups are so cute! Coffee and tea is very enjoyable, I have returned several times!
This place is a true Fredericksburg gem. I order food from here almost every day. The turkey and cheese sandwiches with blueberry cranberry jam is absolutely delicious and their pasta salad is always perfect! I always get the taro milk tea with tapioca boba and it’s the best in the area. I will continue ordering as long as you guys are around. Thank you!! ♥️
Cute, and quaint tea shoppe right here in downtown Fredericksburg! I came for the bubble tea, but love that they have a wide variety of loose leaf, as well as tea meals! I will definitely be returning here soon just to try more. :)
First time and it was so good
With it being one of the only bubble tea/tea places within a 1-hour radius, its refreshing to have a place with such a big variety of drinks. Theres something for everyone to enjoy here, whether youre a kid or an adult. Cant wait to go back :).
Best bubble tea around! Green tea mango with tapioca...yes maam!
I went here with my family about a week ago and we absolutely loved it. We purchased two taro bubble teas, one green tea got chocolate, and an assortment of scones. It was a amazing to learn how many of the products they make in house! 6 hours to make the tapioca bubbles! Pure dedication! Also, the amount of sweetness was just right. Our previous bubble tea experiences had been so sweet. Tea Tyme had just the right amount of sweetness. We cannot wait to visit again! Highly recommend.
I was not impressed. While the tea was excellent the scones were greasy and flat. In addition our Cream Tea was served with no jam or butter as advertised in their printed and online menus. There was also a $5 difference between the printed and online menu so I was charged more than I was expecting. Despite my love of tea I wont be spending money here again.
My family and visited Tea Tyme while on vacation and really enjoyed it. We ordered an assortment of scones, one black tea with peach bubble pearls, and a black pineapple flavored tea. We were really impressed by how fresh the ingredients were. If you are in the area you should definitely stop in and try this place!
Stumbled upon this place while strolling through downtown Fredericksburg. Its decor is a bit dated but they offer afternoon tea service for very reasonable pricing. We only ordered bubble teas to go but we saw a small group having afternoon tea and it looked lovely. Our bubble teas were good. I ordered taro and my friends ordered regular milk tea without the sweetener. They were prompted to select a black tea from the shops loose leaf collection for their base which I thought was nice. I would return here.
Bubble tea was undrinkable. Tasted like watered-down milk and leftover coffee grinds. Had high hopes for this place! Two stars for friendly service and those having tea seemed to be enjoying it.
I ordered a mango milkshake and there were chunks of ice and tasted kind of weird, I asked for something else and they replaced it for free and were super nice about the situation. I think the blender wasn’t working well that day and that’s why there were chunks of ice, I still would recommend this place. So much variety and I’d say decent pricing.
Best bubble tea ever
Tasted nothing like fresh
My sister and I come here frequently for the best boba tea in the area. The shop is adorable and the atmosphere is very cozy and cute, the sweet woman who runs it is very friendly and inviting.
This is a very quaint little restaurant with knick-knacks and jewelry and very good food, a very nice ambiance. The waitress / manager was very friendly and helpful with the food selections since this was my first time visiting the restaurant. I will return for another visit. The tea was flavorful.
The lady that works there is wonderful and the bubble tea is delicious, enough said.
Quaint little shop with trinkets that will take you back through time. Nostalgic items and knick knacks to gaze on while waiting for your drinks. Leafy tea to buy and bubble tea at its finest! My grandson is allergic to milk and she checked to make sure the yogurt syrup was, in fact, dairy free. He loved it! It comes in a cool little light bulb cup that you can keep and bring back for a discount! Love it!!
Elegance in a Small town USA. Stopped in for the afternoon tea and i was BLOWN AWAY! Fresh make scones, sandwiches, and array of teas
Cutest little shop and great service! The lady is very sweet and the prices are good🥰 Im in love💞
BUBBLE TEA FOR THE WIN!!
One of the girls that works there called herself “Manager” about a thousand times while explaining the whole board and answering the questions I had. This location definitelyneeds WORK. The menu there is even WORSE than the one at the mall. Very confusing to read and the prices on the board don’t match the ones on the cups on the counter. The carpet by the front is a HUGE hazard and someone could trip and hurt themselves. They should NOT be in business. Plus Ive witnessed the owners dig out used sample cups from the GARBAGE and rinse them and put them up to dry to be reused. Expired food is also given out as free samples due to owners not wanting to waste food. Please shut down.
The prices are utterly ludicrous, the most expensive bubble tea place I’ve ever been by a long ways. I ordered a black milk tea with boba and I wasn’t very impressed. The lady working there was very nice though.
Owners are very sweet. I had the tea for one, scones are made fresh and are delicious.
This is a very popular spot for bubble tea. I however was not impressed. To be fair I did not have the bubble tea, so the bubble tea may be great. But its not a sit down and drink tea in a nice cozy spot kind of place. So I guess it depends on what you are looking for. And perhaps the reason for my 1 star is that my expectation was a nice tea room and that is not this place.
My daughter loves their drinks. Cute little place!
Very awkward location which makes it feel cheap, sad, and disappointing because it was really good and used to have a great location on the 900 block of caroline street. They are in a rectangular room which is literally split down the middle by fabric and a couple pieces of wood board. On one side of the partition is the tea shop and on the other side is a weird coffee shop which is rarely open. They need a new location because they are really good. The current location is ugly and gives a bad, cheap, value to their products.
My chicken salad sandwich was delicious and love their bubble tea!
Didnt feel much like a real tea shop to me. My waitress was a college age girl with greasy hair and sloppy clothes. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and received a minimal amount of salad smeared on the bread with lettuce, 6 blueberries thrown onto the plate with a mint. The waitress never came back. The two girls working at the shop stood around chatting, laughing and make dog-like howling noises. This went on the entire time I was there. It was SO annoying. I had to get up and go find the waitress to get my check. I couldnt wait to get out of there. I was the only customer there...it was early afternoon last Friday. Wont be going back to that sandwich shop!!!!
The cutest lightbulb boba tea drinks! Highly recommend the mango tea with strawberry poppers. They don’t have a large staff but you can see them running around the entire time going as fast as they can!
Great experience. Will definetly be back !
I have been to this tea room three times in hopes that my experience would improve. The tea and food have been fine all three times, but all three times I have displeased with the service. The owner, fussy, pushy woman, ruins the magic of having Victorian tea with friends. I tend to like my tea a little strong so I was immediately put off when she tried to pour my tea for me because I was taking too long to pour it. The third time was the worst as she consistently made insinuations about my sisters weight. I was livid. The other employees are kind, cordial and pleasant in general. This tea room would be lovely if the owner did not work there.
We love the bubble tea. Not many places sell loose tea with the selection they have here. We are proud patrons.
Tasty drinks and food for a reasonable price!
The woman working here is nice and friendly. They have many unique flavors of teas and the “Popping” pearls/bubbles in fruity flavors which is cool. The one thing I didn’t like (which is something I’ve encountered before at another shop), the regular black pearls/bubbles are basically flavorless. If you go to Kung Fu Tea, or even Share Tea in Fairfax, these bubbles/pearls have a noticably sweet flavor to them which makes them very enjoyable on their own whilst drinking them down with a tea/slush. This shop couldn’t offer that unfortunately.
Friendly customer service and great teas with a variety of flavors.
This is a great place to eat & of course enjoy a cup of tea. They have a very large variety of teas to select from. Sandwiches are quite large and the salads have really great flavor. I’ve never had these kinds of chicken salad, they are very tasty.. Very cozy and classy on the inside you almost miss this place as it’s buried back in a mini mall type area with sign that says “The Galleria”. Highly recommend for if you are looking for something good to eat, very reasonable prices & super friendly service. I really don’t understand what happen to Manda as they were very accommodating, even changed a menu item that stated “no-substitutions” they were very accomodating..
Confusing menu. Overpriced bubble tea. Antique shop turned cafe?
Come here everytime im off for their bubble tea
First time there and had a great time with my friends. We thought the food was good, the service was very good.
This was a stunningly bad bubble tea place. We were speechless after tasting it. We had the flavors of strawberry bubble tea and regular milk tea with bubbles. Prices are higher than most places Ive been to at $5.50 for the regular take out cups and $6 for the novelty lightbulb cup. There is also a coffee side in this same location separated by something like a cubicle wall which appears to have another girl to take orders and make your drinks. We did not try this side, but from how bad the tea side was, we dont really want to come back to see.1. the tapioca balls were not soaked in sugar water or honey. A forgivable offense on its own.2. Only powder usage. Also forgivable if you mix things right. But the strawberry flavor was a sickly pale pink with the thick consistency of peptobismol, but peptobismol tastes better. And i dont like peptobismol. You could hardly taste any sweetness, strawberry flavor or tea flavor. It was just tastelessly thick. Regular milk tea was the opposite--watery. But also not enough sugar or milk or tea flavor.3. Terrible decor or presentation. Its also selling like mall goth decor (skull goblets, dragon and fairy figurines) next to precious moments (a Christian figurines company) type decorations and cheap sterling silver and costume jewellery. Their cups were just clear plastic take out cups that someone actually took the effort to sharpie in their name tea tyme. Something i would expect of a restaurant that sells bubble tea on the side. Not store that specializes in their drinks (in addition to random knick knacks i guess).Edit: an interesting reply from the owner, but does not address any issues. Has anything changed? Have you improved? Whether flavor, bubble preparation or presentation? Do you have your own branded cups yet?Jesus saw a nice looking fig tree and approached it because he was hungry, but it bore no fruit. So Jesus cursed it. And later on the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered. Tea Tyme was that fig tree to us. We saw it looked nice from the outside, and wanted some nice bubble tea. Unfortunately there was no fruit. And it was a terrible disappointment.
Unfortunately the tea wasn’t very good... but the lady was super sweet!
Beautiful things but tea station was closed,no tea....
Love this place❤️
This tea place is amazing and the customer service is great! Im like a regular now.
They have really good bubble tea 🙂
Quaint atmosphere, they used to have delicious tea.
It is no longer a full service tea shop and cafe. The owner lost the lease and had to move. Now there is tea served from the back of a store. No food, no seating. Take your beverage and go. It is awkward and uncomfortable. I dearly miss the high tea at the old shop.
The tea was really good it was nice service
The tea was really good there was good service
Best bubble tea downtown
The service was pretty slow (although they were pretty busy so thats a little forgiveable) and the interior was pretty cramped.
Great for family and kids
Lovely experience
Amazing bubble tea
Nothing to write home about
Overpriced and weird interior
