I started coming here with my friends for poetry night after hearing from them how absolutely divine everything is and I am here to pass on the absolute GODLY experience that this place has offered. The atmosphere is just outstanding, the walls are covered in the most gorgeous local artist’s artwork, the drinks are so so so tasty and oh my god don’t even get me started on the danishes… I consider myself to be quite the danish loving kind of gal and I’ve been craving a real tasty danish for like 2 years straight and haven’t really found one to truly hit my cravings until I had one of these mouthwatering beauties, I mean I truly ascended into another world in one single bite. Also, as a fellow member of the customer service world, I am very inspired by the customer service offered here, the employees are very lively and inviting people that I would gladly have a cup of tea with. My only warning is that you might go broke if you come here, no seriously, my friend bought 4 of the same drinks in under 30 minutes because she is now addicted. Taste at your own risk.

This little cafe is exceptional! I went in with my husband and my teenage daughter (we are not vegan) expecting a typical coffee shop experience. We were a little surprised when we realized it was a vegan cafe but the gentleman behind the counter was so friendly and inviting, we decided to give it a try. It was so good!! He made excellent recommendations and went above and beyond to fix us up with something he thought we’d like. It was seriously the best coffee I’ve had in really long time! I 100% recommended!! Huge props to the barista, he made the experience amazing! Wish I had caught his name. We will be back!

Should have read more into the shop. Didn’t realize their milk based drinks were all made with plant based milks. Drop coffee was good and cinnamon vanilla latte was tasty too, just wish cow milk an option

Friendly guy, great coffee. I asked for an espresso macchiato even though it wasnt on the menu. It was excellent. Note that theyre vegan, so no cows milk. Oat milk is perfectly acceptable instead.

Was there once a few days ago and loved it, the whole concept was great, crazy good tea and coffee, crazy cool artwork, and some crazy good staff. really wishing lots of success to ethan! such a cool guy and great artwork, checked out his comics and music and really just a talented dude.

I feel insanely upset that I only just discovered this place today. We just stumbled across it. The baklava coffee was insanely good. The guy who served us was super friendly. Place has a really good atmosphere and vibe to it.This will be my new favorite spot ❤️

This place is out of this world. The atmosphere, the staff, the care that they put into every cup! Today I came in for a simple tea and the staff member made a lovely suggestions that elevated my tea. They go out of their way to connect with you. This is a center for community and it really shows. I feel it is so inclusive and safe. So much love for Katora!

Im sorry I have to give this place a 1 star now. The main guy who works here was really cool and the ice tea drinks are great, but I got banned from here (not when the guy was there), I did not do anything wrong. I came here one time to see an open-mic and talk to few nice people, maybe even get a contact, after that they step on you like your no one for them. I dont think this place shows their true color! Be careful who you talk to here!Replying to your comment:I did not harass anyone! More like you guys are bullies and trying to get me in trouble! One day you will see the truth!

Katora is a great place! The drinks are excellent and the ambience and community there are even better. Open mic Wednesday is my favorite.

Katora is a really great coffee place if you like superfood/organic drinks, this place also sells the Daves killer bread, they even have a classic super Mario game here as well, coffee was actually pretty good but it was quite overpriced(which I guess is common for organic coffee shops) it was about $18.00 for 2 iced coffee/tea drinks, overall the staff and the owner that I got to meet here were very friendly and helpful as it was first time coming in, I do plan on returning soon

Very kind barista, wonderful atmosphere, they do not use milk (instead its soy, oat, almond and coconut milk) so dont go in angry about that. The sweets the have are delicious, fresh and warmed up for you. I got a mocha raspberry and cherry tart. Fantastic. They have events almost every night which is fun for locals or travelers as something to do.

Katora Coffee is a great place to get a nice tea or coffee and relax. Theres plenty of seating to just enjoy a brief moment in life. The staff are always warm and friendly and work hard to ensure you have a positive experience here. They also have some nice baked treats and offer wraps and sandwiches from time to time. I highly reccomend.

Take the low star ratings with a grain of salt, this places vibe is like no other. Come with an open mind to find incredible flavor combos, friendliness humans deserve( not like DC hardened souls), and a place to be you. Try the baklava latte and be surprised! This shop is dairy free meaning your almond and coconut milk *substitutes* are the norm. Sit back sip and relax at Katora coffee!

Came in unsure of what I’d find and was delighted to discover my new favorite coffee shop. A huge bonus for me is that it’s vegan! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff was kind and incredibly knowledgeable. The iced lavender latte was to die for, can’t say enough great things. My husband and I also enjoyed the new section for indie comics etc. Can’t wait to see what other artists Katora unveils in the future!

Love this place! Ethan makes for great conversation, and it’s a very safe environment. I went with a friend and she got AGGRESSIVELY catcalled from across the street and we were actually followed for a bit as we were leaving, so we looped back around to Katora through an alley to lose them. Ethan not only noticed the exchange and asked if we were okay, but made sure we knew if it ever happens again we can just enter the store and he’d handle it. He was so respectful and we were very touched. Bonus: the coffee/tea is super good!

This is the coolest coffee shop in downtown Fredericksburg by far! Katora really separates themselves from your average “coffee shop”. It’s so cozy and unique, with such a welcoming atmosphere. You feel nothing but good vibes as soon as you walk in the door. The perfect place to enjoy a delicious latte’ or tea any day of the week. My personal favorite ... a Cashew milk Dirty Chai, YUM! Amongst many other delicious beverages they offer!..An added bonus they use only vegan ingredients ! What’s not to love?Thank you Katora coffee and staff for a great experience!

Ok Im from the DC area so I came with assumptions and demands. This place screams edgy elite (openly vegan leaning, quirky decor, bearded baristas) but everyone is really open and nice. Half of the new owner pair introduced himself to me and seems to get on with the regulars. I just got drip coffee but it was a very solid cup.

The atmosphere is amazing. Owners are super friendly and engaging. Coffee strong if you like that. I love the selection of loose leaf tea. Pastries are so good. Art work and the connection with community is what really tops the experience off.

This is one place that anyone will feel right at home. As a frequent customer I can say this is a local business I will proudly support. From the day to day family shop with kids playing nicely in their room and patrons enjoying conversation in a unique space, to the night time events to get the area community involved packing the space to the brim with real genuine connections. It only gets more and more unique the more you get to know the place. HIGHLY recommend.

Super friendly staff. I had an iced mango tea, with pineapple and coconut. So delicious and very refreshing. My husband had a vanilla iced latte. He said it was really, really good. We really enjoyed the laid back feel of the place. They have a nice lounge area with a comfortable couch and chairs, as well as an area with tables and chairs like a cafe. Very impressed. Will absolutely be going there again!

From a barista who knows anything and everything about Downtown Fredericksburg (especially how to make a perfect coffee) to a welcoming atmosphere with cool paintings lining the walls, this is definitely the coffee shop to visit.The barista will make you surprise drinks (upon request) to suit your mood and cravings.Oh, and the music playing in the shop is a plus😁

I have been meaning to come to Katora for a while now. I followed their social media presence for a while, and their involvement in social justice and community support is what drew me to them.It’s endearingly cluttered with art, decor, lighting, and other little things. The barista was very welcoming and has a warm spirit.I love that I didn’t have to ask for plant-based milk, it automatically comes with Oat Milk. I had a small white chocolate rose. I usually add a bit of sugar to my coffee but it was not needed here.Love it! Will be back for sure.

This was my first time at Katora and I loved it. Megan was my barista and she was kind, helpful, and charming! I was having a horrible day and she took the time to chat with me, ask about how I was doing, and really get to know me all before taking my order. I asked for a cold brew with almond milk and something vaguely fruity to flavor it. She combined lavender and vanilla with a little bit of honey to make a delicious combo that was just the pick-me-up I needed. I cant wait to return.

Hands down my favorite place in town. Christian and April are incredibly dedicated people who constantly strive to better their business and the community around them. They are so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely care about their product and their customers.Thank you for being so wonderful, love you guys!

Poetry night is how i found out about this place. Definitely a calm positive environment. Although i have not recited any poems yet i plan too. This place also has tea and coffee with many different flavors at a great price, even decaf! They also have other activities through out the week that i like to attend and a fire place as well. Great place to unwind and collect your thoughts. A must visit. 5Stars!

The atmosphere is very relaxing, the staff are great! And their coffee is better than star bucks, my opinion. The prices are worth the drinks. They have a small selection of food but even the food taste great! 👍

The shop itself is delightful....for someone like me who enjoys retro style experiences. Coffee was alright, will not order coffee again though as they only have Almond milk and Soy Milk....not my cup of tea and definitely not in my cup of coffee!

Absolutely phenomenal! I’ve been to many different coffee shops across the country, and this one exceeds what any other coffee shops has in every category. The music is awesome (rotates genres throughout the day), has an awesome skull theme, amazing artwork all over the place by local artists, and an amazing menu to choose from (without being overwhelming). One of the things that also sets this one apart is the events. They have everything from poetry nights to gaming nights, to random special events that are set up as special occasions. When you walk into the shop, you can feel the personality thats very distinct, and that’s not something I’ve ever felt at any other coffee shop I’ve been to. The owners are phenomenal people. I overall just love the mission of this place! Keep up the good work! You’re doing amazing, sweetie!

Really fun atmosphere featuring local artists. Locally roasted coffee, nice selection of teas, and food and pastries to go with. The owners are super delightful folks with great hearts. Im always happy to support a business that gives so much back to the community!

Great place loved people and coffee

In a town full of coffee shops, this is one that really stands out! The staff are super personable and kind, the decor is cozy, and the music is good! But the #1 thing That stood out to me is their children play area upstairs! It has a teepee, books, toys and kids table, with a nearby table if you care to supervise, but small enough that you can step away from view without fear! I think this is a place that people of all ages will enjoy! They also have a large selection of loose leaf teas too, and seem to be very conscious in their other selections!

Visited last week with a friend. We absolutely loved it! The staff is very friendly, nice, and genuine. The atmosphere is amazing and my Carmel macchiato was the best one Ive ever had! Loved it! 😍

I love this place! Firstly, the coffee is absolutely delicious. Many choices. My favorite is the simple iced coffee though. Refreshing and yummy. Secondly, the walls and ambience are so cool and funky. Theres nothing not to simply love about this place.

Im not typically a coffee drinker but came here upon a friends suggestion. The clerk was very friendly and since Im not a coffee drinker, she helped me choose a fantasic drink based on a few questions. I absolutely love the decor amd atmosphere here as well. Will definitely be going back soon!

An eclectic place with great coffee. Ive on separate occasions had a drip and a latte, and both were fantastic. The staff are very friendly and host a variety of social events. Its more upbeat than your standard coffee shop, the music has been slower trance or dance, so personally its not my favorite place in town to sit and have coffee and talk. But really its the best coffee in town.

While the coffee was good and the place itself had a great atmosphere with local artists work on display, the customer service was terrible. My friend and I were basically ignored while the lady at the counter stood there and chatted up another customer for nearly 8 minutes while we stood behind him and waited. I doubt Ill go there again to order anything.

I am in-between jobs right now and I went too katora too draw and try too get my mind off of things, I gave the owners wife 5 dollars so I could stay, I was not loitering and I thought I could hang out a while if I was a paying customer and the owner said, it would be best for the both of us if you leave, even after I gave the owners wife 5 dollars, I wasnt bothering anyone or anything I just wanted a spot too draw, and it really hurt my feelings because I just wanted too draw and relax but I guess they didnt want me there...

This has been one of the most warm and inviting coffee shops I’ve ever been too! It’s a space that can accommodate college kids coming to study and parents who want to get out the house and enjoy a cup-o-joe while the kids play.

My partner and I love spending time studying here. Everyone is so open and friendly, so it makes for a great environment. The coffee is also great and priced very well. Overall it’s a great place and we definitely recommend it!

There was a little mix up with my order, but they were fast to remedy the situation. The smoothie tasted great, I dont live around the area, however I would recommend to stop by if you are passing through!

If youre ever wandering downtown and consider going anywhere else. Dont. Katora Coffee is by far the best as they have an excellent music selection and savory coffee but thats not even the best part. The chairs and books they have scattered about tie everything together. If youre visiting the area there are historic buildings and battlefields to tour just blocks away!

The vegetarianism is a new thing since I last dropped in and it seriously detracts from the coffee. A good coffee cannot be made with soy, almond, or coconut milk. I do wish theyd put a sign on the door informing no dairy products so no one is caught by surprise after they stand in line and pay (15 minutes and $4.50 for an undrinkable cup I took one sip of and poured out). Sadly, there are no decent coffee options left in FXBG.

I was completely thrilled when I stopped in for my first visit.It is such a gem.One of the owners made me the best latte. And the fact that they carried Kickshaw treats that I could eat was perfect timing.Also up staira they have a kids section, which my little guy loved. And her daughter totally welcomed my little guy with open arms.

Great coffee, great barista. Very friendly and I feel welcomed. Tried the Pretty Little Latte and it was great. Although it was lavendar and vanilla, it did taste a little nutty as well. Could it be from the oat milk? I loved it either way. A large drink was very large and it was strong too, not weakly caffeinated. It left me alert all day. Other drinks Ive tried at other places barely wake me up when needed.

I stumbled upon Katora late one night with my best friends from school. We were all about to leave for college and wanted a place to be able to talk and hang but everything closes in Fredericksburg at 9. Thankfully we came across my little piece of heaven. Christian greeted me with such warmth and genuine happiness; it was infectious. After spending nearly every possible chance I can there i can truthfully say its a completely different experience. You dont just get a cup of coffee you get a friend, a memory, and an experience.

The coffee was good and the store inside with the art work and sitting area, along with a childs area was pretty cool. The coffee was overpriced, however for those just stopping in for a good coffee.

Definitely one of my favorite places to go in Fredericksburg! I am a huge tea drinker and love the selection of teas that they keep on hand. The baristas are very knowledgeable and are always giving suggestions on new favours to try and the owners are freaking awesome! I come here a lot and will continue to hang out here!

I have been to a lot of local coffee shops around here but not one is a warm and welcoming as Katora. Locally roasted coffee executed perfectly along with vegetarian/vegan food and open late. Art battles open mic nights the events keep going and going. I could not reccomend this place enough

I do not like giving negative reviews, but my first visit wasn’t the best. The barista is over the top friendly, but I ordered a peppermint mocha latte and it was like warm with no flavor and about 2 inches of foam. I wish I could share a picture! ☹ I called to see if I should go back because she was by herself and I believe I got the owner. She was very friendly as well and wanted to make it right, so i went back. She put more peppermint in it, but it still is bland and warm. Not sure about this place. I think I’ll stick with Hyperion.

I love Katora. My coffee is always perfectly prepared, the food and pastries are delicious, they have a really cool kids play area, and the decor and vibe are just my style.
