I live in the DC metro area, I had to take a trip out to Southern VA. This was the first place in literally 100 miles that wasn’t Cracker Barrel, McDonald’s, or Subway. Luckily they advertise on the highway sign, as a mostly vegetarian I was thankful to see this option.Pros:- Clean bathrooms- Mask wearing / clean food handling- Good menu options, fresh ingredients, fast serviceCons:- Not open very late- “Healthy” is relative, if you want less dressing or are trying to avoid sugar, fat, etc, you must be specific when ordering!

SO GLAD I STOPPED. Long road trip and fast food taking its toll, I thought the place sounded healthy. It’s SO DELICIOUS too! Called from the parking lot and ordered a simple Caesar salad wrap, oat milk latte, their strawberry lemonade and the pick two half n half of their tomato basil soup and grilled cheese. When I went to pick up the order, they said they were out of the tomato soup so they gave me the last ~2oz of it just to dip my grilled cheese in, and a bonus half cup of this spicy creamy chicken soup that I think was their jalapeño popper or creamy chicken tortilla? Not sure but it was spicy and delicious! Coming from Texas, anything spicy this far north is always suspect, but it was actually hot and amazing! Loaded with veggies and chicken cooked perfectly. Loved how creamy it was too. The tomato basil soup was also amazing!! I’m so grateful!Now let’s talk about this strawberry lemonade. Y’all NEED to get some. I wish I had bought a gallon to take with me. It’s so fresh and flavorful; perfect balance of sweet and tart. They seriously need to work out a grocery store partnership. I want the recipe or a regular supply!!My only criticism is covid precautions. Since I’m traveling and immune compromised I was nervous being in there with so many people and no masks on staff or patrons... but they were at least blasting the AC, and I was able to get in and out quickly. I know people think it’s political now but like I said, I’m coming from Texas where it’s still really bad, and I was free to risk everyone else’s health if I so chose. I think attracting folks off the interstate with that sign is a risk factor they could take more responsibility for. Mine weren’t the only Texas plates in the lot but I was the only customer wearing a mask....

Super delicious & conscientious eats - the best choice for wellness. Im on a long road trip & this place is a beaming star of a local restaurant in the dark night that is fast food. Staff is friendly, too.

So hard to find healthy options on road trips. We found this gem just off 81 in Harrisonburg and we will be putting it on our go-to list for future trips. So fresh and yummy!!

Greens and Grains! What a disappointment. I have friends who go to JMU that love this place and unfortunately I wasn’t able to try it. The shop hours online and posted that they open at 10am on Sunday. However when I arrived at 10:30 am the doors were locked and dark. I looked to see if there was sign as to why the shop was closed, but there was nothing. A young woman was I see and rolled her eyes. So I took my business to subway next door and gave them a five star review. It’s a shame we’re traveling and this was an opportunity for us to try this place out. She later opened the doors 10:50. Greens and gains is losing out on money by not respecting their customers time!

The Maryland soup was too salty but, the strawberry sensation salad was the bomb.

I work for a food delivery service as a side gig on the weekends and when I went here to pick up an order, the man was either trying to be funny, or was trying to be extremely rude...believe it or not, I can take a joke, but I’m not sure which he was going for. He asked me to get silverware for the customer, but I proceeded to grab the wrong thing and apologized once I realized and he said “it’s fine, I should’ve just done it myself, I always feel bad making you guys do actual work’. He actually turned out to be the manager, David..Regardless, not really sure how that was funny, but needless to say it struck a cord. I’ve went here to eat before and the food is actually pretty good... I also know they’re struggling due to COVID so I liked knowing I was helping them out versus going to one of the major chains in the area, but after the way I was treated with that experience I doubt I’ll be going back.

Their GREEK SALAD was a disappointment! I was served a bowl of 98% iceberg lettuce and about 3 tablespoons (total) of the described veggies etc.

The food was excellent. Had the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup. Went and got a second grilled cheese sandwich because it was so delicious.

Nice place with decent vegetarian options. They have soups, sandwiches and salads. Seating inside, two tables outside in the summer. Ample parking up front.

Much better than Panera :) yes you can always hit up a place on a bad day but I can’t see anything really bad or wrong with this place per some reviews. More importantly, the sandwiches and salads I have had are delicious not to mention the locals highlighted teas and kombuchas.

Decided to stop here because it sounded like a good healthy and fresh option. This place grossed me out not only by its uncleanly atmosphere but also from the bossy rude dark haired worker...who acted as the manager but was not impressive. We ordered crab bisque soup....all three orders of soup were varied temperatures...one order COLD! Went back in to get it reheated. After waiting longer than I thought it should take to zap it....that pleasant girl hands me the cup back...soup all over sides of container...I took lid of of container...now bubbles are coming to the top...it is BOILING. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WONT WASTE OUR MONEY HERE ANYMORE...SO GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE ON THIS STUDENT RUN ESTABLISHMENT.

Terrible lunch experience. I do not recommend this place. Go next door to Subway instead.They did not have the right kind of cheese in stock for my Italian sandwich, so I had to have cheddar. Also, they poured Italian salad dressing on the sandwich instead of the basil pesto that was on the menu. No apologies.-Restaurant was dirty and the bathroom had not been cleaned in weeks.BE WARNED! The employees were not wearing masks. This is highly disrespectful to customers.I do not recommend visiting this place.

The owner which is the one who prepared our food was a smart a$$. First time we actually dealt with him. We were not impressed with service but Food was great!! I recommend owner changing attitude and stop being a smart a$$ to customers when they ask questions. He acts like he’s above you but without his customers he wouldn’t have a business.

Amazing menu with great prices. My favorite is the chipotle pollo wrap. You can sit down or take it to go. Highly suggest is for a great sandwich or salad! The staff is very nice as well!

We live in NH and visit family in GA a few times a year. We ALWAYS plan our road trip around eating here going south and back north. It never disappoints and always has the freshest, tastiest food. Great quality for a great price and the staff are helpful and friendly. Wish we lived closer.

This was my first experience here, and I have to say it was amazing. Everything was fairly priced and the staff was helpful as well as friendly. Most importantly though, the food was very tasty.

I love that you can customize your meals with locally sourced food! There are so many options, including gluten free selections. This is the first place that Ive seen kombucha on tap and I love that they have craft beer available to order.

What kind of salad place doesnt have iceberg lettuce? They used to, and I ordered from them all the time, their salads were awesome. But they stopped carrying it a while back and replaced it with kale. Non-iceberg lettuce is not even worth eating in my opinion. Im not sure how or why they came to hate that popular salad ingredient, it seems dumb.

This was a welcome surprise traveling down route 81 to be able to go to a college town and get such a good meal. I had a soup and the vegan delight and both where great.

I was having a hard time going from my parents house in Delaware to where I live by Roanoke, there were no reasonably priced healthy options for a vegan so I ate my dry rice cakes. I stopped here after 2 failed attempts to go to different cafes which did not have vegan options or were unfriendly and was just about to go grab a salad from McDonalds when I saw the sign. I went in and must have looked confused as the girl explained the menu, I got the half Napa Valley Sandwich w/ balsamic dressing and salad Vegan Delight Salad. $10 and some change after 15% tip. It was filling too I didnt feel the need to eat until about 4 hours later.

This place is seriously overpriced for what it is. Salad and wrap were lacking dressing. Spinach wrap is $1.00 extra for some strange reason(other places price wheat and spinach wraps equally) Staff was not flexible regarding sandwich customization. They seemed overall bothered but our presence. Bottomline, $50 for 4 mediocre sandwiches is insane. Oh yeah, toaster and ice machine and lights dont work.

Went in for lunch today and the place was completely empty. Even so, they were out of salmon and had to prep salad to complete my order. Didnt find the atmosphere or the staff particularly friendly. Pretty over priced in my opinion, but at least the salad tasted pretty good.

Fresh, delicious, healthy, locally sourced meals, reasonably priced, prepared and delivered to my hotel room by very friendly folks. This is the stuff I dream of when Im on the road, but travellers like me will agree gems like Greens and Grains are rare to nonexistent. What a pleasant surprise for this road weary, health conscious road warrior!

Better than any of the fast food options in the food desert that is i81 but really not good. Make your own salad/wrap uses sad flavorless produce. grilled cheese is actually a lightly toasted cheese sandwich with unmelted cheese. Didnt go near any of the meat.

We didnt stay here long but the food was served quickly and was good. They had a good selection of healthy fare, much of which was vegetarian and gluten free.

Good food however it seems to have a strong odor to me this time and one of the cooks wasnt wearing a hair net/hat.

I am most excited about the product this restaurant claims to offer...but how can anyone trust the integrity required to put together fresh uncooked meals to this people ? An employees is wiiling able to claim that beef is chicken and seller to the consumer w/o any remorse or regret all to get you out faster?8/29/18 was my third and last visit to this restaurant! You see in my previous two visits all the exciment had been bashed with questionable procedures despite the appeal of the meals offered. In spite of the doubts I kept giving the restaurant the benefit of “most likely a random fluke..”Last night the young lady gave me what appear to be chili soup for chicken fiesta . Upon further inquiry she assured three times it was not a mistake w/o providing any explanation as to why there were beef chunks instead of chicken. She packed our food to go even though we had asked to dinne in. Needles to say that my family and I left the restaurant much sooner than expected giving her more than half hour for their closing.

Fresh, made-in-house, local, delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta. Options for everyone: vegan, veggie, fish (salmon and shrimp), meat (the usuals), beer and wine. Just traveling through, but would be a regular if we lived here.

Traveling though Harrisonburg, and wanted a salad, looked for a Salad Works seen Greens & Grains Cafe on a sign and looked it up on the internet. Walked in and place was full with 7-10 people in line. To our surprise It moved quickly with only 2 people working. Food was fresh, really good, and the 2 way over worked employees did awesome. Wish I would have gotten their names to post, but it was around 130ish Sunday, Sept 2nd. The girl and guy working deserve a raise

Would give this place zero stars if it was an option. Staff rude, not wearing gloves or hats or hair nets, staff person asked a customer what he wanted as he told her she just turned and walked away. A customer who paid in front of me camd straight back and had a problem with his sandwich and the counter person asked for his receipt before she could do anything. I did not have time to pay before he was back. Poor customer service to say the least.
