Fantastic selection excellent pricing great customer service what more can you ask for. I have been using the Franklin location for decades, always received knowledgeable insightful advice. They are well-equipped for the weekend warrior who just wants to fill their trunk with some stone and some steppers to letting your imagination run wild.
I made the mistake of reading the poor reviews AFTER I visited the Franklin showroom. Beautiful showroom, a castle where you the customer is treated like a peasant. I asked the young red headed gentleman what I was looking for and he took 5 seconds to tell me the product was no longer in stock, then went back to pretending he had more important business to attend to. The older gentleman overheard my request and spent many trips to the back room to find sample for another solution. I apologized for the inconvenience because he clearly displayed his displeasure with helping me. I left with no solutions, just the ringing of the condescending conversation in my head. A customer looking for solutions apologizing? I blame the 2 sales people for not having the get it done attitude, but more so I blame the management. It is obvious that they are making money hand over fist. But dont treat me like a peasant cause you aint no king😕😕😕
Be careful dealing with this distributor. They are very rude and tell you one thing over the phone and another when you show up to the yard. We have ordered multiple pallets of pavers that were covered in calcium (garbage pavers) and when we requested to make correction they simply said they cant do anything. They should no be selling poor quality product at high costs. We will not be doing business with Halquist! Look at other distributors!
My wife and I visited the Franklin store on 6/15/20 AM to look at purchasing stone for the exterior of our house. We walked in the door right near the 3 men that were working the showroom that day. A bell goes off announcing that visitors have arrived. No one looked up or ever greeted us, offered help or even acknowledge that we were alive. We spent 15 minutes in the showroom looking at stone samples and were NEVER acknowledged by a single person. Even if these individuals were busy on their computers they could have at the very least looked up and said that someone would be with us in awhile or something. Anything would be better than being completely ignored! I dont foresee myself ever dealing with these people for my stone needs!!
It is absolutely ridiculous that the stoneyard has different closing times than the Sussex location. Nowhere does it say that their yard closes 15 minutes prior to 5 o’clock. I drove 35 minutes to pick up one bucket of decorative stone for them to tell me the stoneyard is closed at 4:45. If I would have drove to the Sussex location this would not have happened.
If you are a home owner don’t bother. If you are a contractor don’t bother either. Halquist basically has a monopoly in the area and does whatever they want. I went in to learn about retaining wall products and some veneer stone products. At first I was put with an associate that had no clue what they were talking about. I asked for a more experienced sales person. The manager of the Franklin store ended up reluctantly showing me around. He was dismissive, condescending and disrespectful. If I wasn’t pressed for time I would have left right then and there. I spent 45min just driving to the location and need to get my materials ordered, so I went against my judgment and stayed. You would think they would want to try and sell you their products. I was repeatedly handed confusing brochures and dismissed. After much poking and prodding was able to get enough information to make an educated decision on what product to buy for my wall. I purchased 10 tons of wall block. Fast forward 5 weeks. My wall is almost done. I need about 1000lbs more wall block to finish. I call ahead to make sure it’s in stock. I’m told it is. I tell them my plan to come pick it up. I drive 45min with a trailer to pick it up. They don’t have a single block in stock. Ok mistakes happen. The real problem was that the managers attitude again. He pretty much blew it off. Instead of trying to immediately find a solution for me he started spouting off excuses and telling me about how their inventory system sucks. Isn’t that reason enough to go verify visually when someone calls about pick up a specific item?? Unprofessional and they don’t care. I talked to Bill Halquest about it and he just blew me off. No apology. All I got was “thank you for your feedback”. The problem is systemic. If you have other options for materials use them!
