I was visiting the area and found this shop. They have a LOT of stuff. After seeing their prices I now understand how they have so much left in stock. So ridiculous it is almost comical. The prices are way above even the most ridiculous shops I have seen. They were also very rude and hover over you every step you take. I definitely didn’t feel welcome. My wife and I were treated as if we were doing something wrong by being in there.

$85 for an FFL transfer and background check is by far the most inappropriate way to take care of customers. I stopped shopping here years ago because they were way over priced on guns, optics and ammo but did a transfer because my preferred shops were not listed. All other shops are $25-$35. Hell I put 4 on one transfer and Teds was less then this place was for one gun. What a joke yall should know you are doing bad business and take some classes on morals and ethics.

My review got deleted some time ago, and it was an honest true experience I had in that store.Id rather not waste more time writing down all of it again, but briefly speaking they are way overpriced, even for used firearms they offer. Wouldn’t recommend going here. Went in to trade in a handgun for another and while I was filling out my paperwork I looked up and was looking down the barrel of an unloaded from the display case. Guy behind the counter was showing it off to one of his buddies and had it pointed right at me with his finger in the trigger guard. When the guy processing my paperwork saw this he didn’t say a word and went back to his work. Even though it was unloaded it goes against all of the basic firearm handling rules and would expect gun store employees to be able to follow those rules. Definitely don’t feel safe going there again.

I dont have a rating to give them because I havent been in the shop yet. My wife and I live pretty close and was going to stop by but I started reading the reviews and decided it was probably best we dont. It would be different if just a couple of people had negative experiences but when 80 percent of people are saying the same thing, it makes it kind of hard to enter a store with that type of service. Just make sure you read reviews before going certain places!

Two Stars because the guy’s I’ve dealt with whenever I’ve been there were good guys. But this store doesn’t make sense. The higher your inventory the lower your prices are supposed to be. Yet they don’t even try to be competitive and don’t care. My suggestion to anyone is to go to Larry’s in North Alabama. Even after gas you’ll save money and get a better deal.

Only giving 4 stars because the prices on accessories is too high even during this shortage. First off I’d like to thank Mark for being an awesome sales associate. He answered all my questions to the best of his knowledge and asked for help on the ones he wasn’t positive about. Ask for Mark when you go in there. Secondly, people on these reviews obviously have no idea how supply and demand works. Just because this stores supply is high doesn’t mean the prices go down, they’re just fortunate enough to have a larger supply than other stores. I felt like what I paid was fair compared to other stores prices. Thanks again Mark!

Grossly overpriced and no customer service. I bought a gun for $350 more than Cabelas since I didnt shop around first and just thought that they were a reputable local gun shop. Not even close, they will rob you for every penny they can get. I have emailed them several times and they dont answer. They have a lot of inventory and they can keep it. I am used to dealing with trustful people not companies that are just trying to get whatever they can and screw their customers. This place got their one sale from me, now I need to find a good gun shop that I can trust.

I am giving them four stars for the time they spent with us looking for a fitting trap gun for my son. They didnt have a gun that fit him in stock and dropped the ball on finding him one. That only hurt them because we NG&K was able to find him a Caesar Guerini Summit Limited with an adjustable comb and get it in two days. They wanted over $6K for a CG Summit. I bought the Summit Limited with the adjustable comb option at NG&K for under $6K. Great folks but they might be a little too busy to follow up on a specific need. Their prices on most items are close enough if you dont want to take the time to shop around. For a specific or custom order I would recommend shopping around and asking them to match prices if you like the staff.

The best way to describe going to this place is to window shop. As mentioned by many others, their prices are far from competitive or at least that has been my experience over the past 8+ years that I have been visiting their shop. Their customer service also leaves a bit to be desired, but most of the employees do ask if you need any help if you are looking for anything ( I cannot say whether if it is out of genuine interest in assisting me, it is their policy, or if they work on a commission system). I only go here to see their selection of old/ antique firearms only to be met with almost crazy high prices and a lacking will to haggle. Most of the time I ask if they can budge on their price or take care of the sales tax, but most of the time is a swift no or they knock 50 bucks off of a $1200 gun...they have a vast selection of firearms because they value them more than the vast majority of the market does. If you have deep pockets and dont want to search for a decent deal, then this is your place. If you dont have deep pockets and try to make every penny count in acquiring the next piece for your collection, then there are plenty of other places that can better accommodate you.

I didnt believe all the negative reviews of this place beforehand, so thats my fault.I tried to sell two guns and their first offer was $50 a piece. That is insultingly low for a bolt-action rifle and a muzzloading rifle both in good condition. I am all about fair market value, but offering $50 for a gun that you have in your store listed at $399 is nowhere near fair. Also, the employee tried to take the case for the rifle I did sell him, saying the money he gave me was for the rifle and case, which was a term that we never agreed on.I will never shop there again. They certainly have a well-deserved negative reputation. I hope anyone who reads this is able to learn from my mistake.

Have shopped here off and on for 5 years. At first I was pleased with the selection they had. I did find an old gun that I had not seen anywhere else, BUT I paid dearly for it. I have traded guns here as well, and something I didnt read in any other reviews is that they also gouge you in these transactions. I had a Thompson contender .50 cal. muzzles loader that I paid over $700 for. They gave me $200. Then I saw the gun on the rack weeks later and it was in the $600s. Plus, at the time I was trading for a couple of new guns and they wouldnt budge on the price of those, not even a few bucks. Saw the same thing on a Beretta PX Storm; they wanted to give me $250 for mine (and it was in very good shape) and they had a used one for over $500. I asked for $300 and they said flatly no. Decided NOT to do that. SO now I go in there to look at stuff but I buy elsewhere, to include Gun Broker. Even with shipping, prices are far cheaper. And their FFL costs are way more than other shops right down the road. Whoever said no wonder they have so much inventory was right.

While I am happy with my pistol that I purchased and the knowledge that was shared with me from one of the salesmen....I am disheartened by the almost 225%increase of price on ammunition and charging $80.00 over retail for the pistol. When I asked about matching prices I was told those prices were below cost for master dealers of Sig...I believed him. That was my mistake.I am guessing after finding this pistol online and available for 120.00 less than What Franklin Gun was selling it for...That this statement was clearly untrue. I have also found sale prices at multiple locations for the same exact pistol that are $250.00 below the price on the tag at Franklin gun. Those pistols were currently out of stock. If you like paying over retail, this review will mean nothing to you.In regards to ammunition, I am a rifle shooter and I have loaded my own rounds for a long time, so I was uncertain of pricing on pistol ammo. Again...I was sold a box of Hornady American Gunner Self Defense ammo for $29.95 a box of 25. These same boxes are available online ranging anywhere from 12.00 to 16.00 all day long and Retail on these are $19.00. I was also sold a box of cheap target ammo(Fiocchi)for $25.00 that should be 10-$12.00. I get it...these are Panic buying prices. But this was an unfortunate way to be treated by our Neighborhood gun shop. Good thing I made friends at the range who pointed me in the right direction. Bottom line is... I was gouged on this purchase. I hope the same doesnt occur for you. This was an unfortunate way to be treated.I understand this was my fault for not being able to recognize this. I am not trying to whine and get taken care of. My pistol shoots great and the ammo will be gone by the weekend. But the review is here to help others avoid making the same mistake. While they are exceptionally close to my house, I will not be giving them anymore of my business. Which is unfortunate....because I love to buy stuff! Their loss.2Stars for the selection and Knowledge. If I could give 1.5 I would.

I said I thought the 6940 converted the 308 to a 556. One of the three gentlemen told me No, it does not, the problem is the 308 bullet is so large it wont work with the 556. Another one said I have a 901 rifle back there and a 556 I can show you they wont work together. I said no thats okay I must have read it wrong. I already had the Colt LE901 conversion kit at home that converts the 308 to a 556. Thats the beauty of the Colt LE901. I guess because Im a woman they think Im stupid. I made the mistake of not doing enough research before purchasing a rifle. I knew I wanted a 6.5 Creedmore but didn’t know which one. I told them my budget and they showed me rifles twice the price of what I had A budget for. Then they showed me a cheaper rifle. It was used. I bought it and took it to the gun range and 7 shots later the reticle in the scope broke. When I returned to the shop a couple hours later, they gave me a $100 credit towards a new scope. I purchased a “store demo” used scope for an additional $200 + my $100 credit. Went back to the range. The gunstock was cheap synthetic material that was warped and didn’t allow the barrel to float. Then while searching the web for a new stock I found out that Franklin Gun Shop charged me $200 more for this used rifle than it was being offered NEW elsewhere. Lesson learned the hard way. But PLEEEEAAAASE do some shopping around before you spend a dime. Also, the shop is quiet and tense inside, like everyone is miserable and waiting to clock out. Guns are fun, go someplace cool.

I am giving this business 3 stars only because of the knowledge the employees have about guns. The thing that bothers me about Franklin Gun Shop is the prices. I will take full responsibility for the last purchase with them but still think they should not do business the way they did with me. I didnt even research other gun shops when I wanted to buy a new 9mm because I figured they were the best place to go to. I went in and the salesperson sold me a 9mm pistol that said it was new, close to Retail price. A couple of days later I showed the gun to a couple of friends that know guns well and they told me the gun was used. I had not put a round in it yet and of course had not shot the gun. You could see the wear on the outside and the inside had wear marks. I called the salesperson back and he made several excuses about why he sold me a used gun as new. He eventually had me talk the to owner. The owner told me to bring the gun back and he would exchange it for a new one. Before I took it back I did what I should have done from the start. I researched other stores and found that Franklin Gun Shop was selling this particular gun for $80 to $100 more than anyone else in the area. I made a list and took it with me. When I got there the owner exchanged guns and then asked for another $10 plus another $10 for the new background check. I was also told that their store policy was NO RETURNS. So I either paid an extra $10 over retail and the extra $10 for a new background check or keep the first gun that was sold as new but was actually used. I paid the extra $20 and left. It seems this gun shop just waits for people to walk in that arent as knowledgeable as others and take advantage of them. They should have been apologizing all over the place for trying to pull something over on someone like they did me and getting called out for it. So let me take this time to say I will never buy anything from them again and suggest that if you are in the market for a new gun CALL OTHER GUN SHOPS IN THE AREA FIRST!

Great selection of high end firearms. Very knowledgeable, helped to get me the gun I wanted. I have purchased from them multiple times both handguns and rifles.

Very large inventory. To the point where they cant organize it anymore. Like that aspect but they can clean up that inventory by selling it else where. Easy to dedicate a person to liquidate all clutter. Have every weapon youd like to see. Will be back!

Not sure why they want to mark up everything so high. Going the same optics online for $70 less and he said well there isn’t someone showing you the stuff online. I understand that and would pay $20 over online prices to have it in store. But $70?Second note: guy behind the counter slamming people who build their own rifles. Sorry business must be down to talk trash about Americans building their own rifle that will out perform most of the big name manufacturers. Very disappointed will not be going back there.

Great Place! Great Business!....was looking for a carry permit class. They dont do it but referred me to an excellent vendor. Similar name to this business but separate. Franklin Gun Academy. Props to 3 folks at Franklin Gun Shop. Jonathan, Mark and Brian. Went in to get some weapons and Jonathan spent quite a bit of time with us. Answered all of our questions, shared his expert advice. We worked out a deal on trade in and purchase. Prices were great, customer service was excellent...when dealing with guns, its important to deal with experts, not just employees at Academy Sports, Walmarts, Cabellas, etc. I love this place and they will continue to be my go to gun resource.
