Kenta Ramen, their black garlic Ramen, is a rich smooth thick robust burst of balanced pork loin in a creamy layered roasted garlic flavor that blends excellently during a cold-breezy night in the bay. This warm rustic broth is a must try. Highly recommend to go out of the way to try out the ramen at Kenta Ramen.

We had shoyu ramen and broiled whole squid. They were so good. Particularly squid was much better than most Japanese restaurants. Wish they had condiments on the table.

I thought this place was OK at best. The yakitori was the best thing on the menu that we ordered. Can’t say the sushi was well made, the beef ramen was underwhelming and gamey, and the miso soup was incredibly sweet.

Quick service, reasonable prices and a large portion size. The black garlic ramen was absolutely delicious, some said the meat was too dry but I thought it was fine. Workers were kind and efficient. Ill be sure to go again.

Went here with my boyfriend at around 1pm on a Saturday. Place was pretty deserted, so we were seated right away. Food came quickly, though the appetizer came at the same time as the entrées. We ordered chicken Karaage for appetizer and for entrees, we had a vegetable ramen and a chasu ramen. We liked the karaage (though not the best Ive tasted). My boyfriend liked his vegetable ramen, but my chasu ramen was meh. It was a bit bland for my taste, so I went crazy adding pepper to it. Lol. If i had no other options, I would probably come back. But I dont see myself craving for their food in all honesty.

The food quality at this place varies a bit. Sometime great, sometime not. The spicy miso ramen is my favorite. Tried tha Ja Ja ramen the other day and it was way too sweet. For those who live at this end of Foster City, its a decent choice for ramen locally without going all the way out toward 101.

Kent Ramen is LEGIT! The staff was very friendly but the menu is where Kenta really shines. The options of Ramen combinations is very large and the ingredients all tasted very fresh. I only tried 2 of their broths but both were delicious. The noodles were perfect. I would definitely stop by again on my next trip over the San Mateo bridge.

Pretty good ramen! I had the black garlic one. The broth is delicious. My only niggle was that the pork slices that came in it were a little dry. I also had an all-shrimp tempura which was decent. I came here for lunch with a friend at 1pm on a Friday, and we were able to get seated immediately.

Not a bad choice if youre craving ramen or other Japanese cuisine but Ive definitely had better at the same or lower price point. For about $40 we got two bowls of ramen which were flavorful and a small salad with chunks of spicy tuna. Check it out if you happen to be in Foster City but I recommend looking elsewhere if you know what you like.

Pretty good! Considering the weird location this place gets less attention than it deserves.Good view of the bay out the front window and a great place for an after dinner walk if you need some time to digest the food.I had the black garlic tonkotsu. Good portion size and great flavour, really deep and rich with the roasted garlic and pork bone. One downside was that you only get half an egg. Full egg or bust!Service was quick and friendly and I really enjoyed my stay.

Went here for an early dinner today. Wait person didnt speak good English. Asked for a tea pot not knowing thats not done in a Japanese restaurant. She wouldnt tell us that. I ordered #611 Curry Beef Ramen and got the more expensive Beef Kobe Ramen. Didnt appreciate paying $3 more for it. All in all the food and ambiance was very good. Will probably go back bc of the extensive menu and close by, convenient, location.

I havent had okonomiyaki since a trip to Tokyo about 10 years ago (of course in Tokyo, you make the dish yourself). I live in Redding, so when we had an extended business trip in the area, I scouted out okonomiyaki options. Kenta Ramen did not disappoint. After reading previous reviews, I was prepared for a 20 minute wait while the dish was prepared, but the staff also let me know of the wait when I ordered. We also had a 1 1/2 year old with us and they were very accommodating, they brought a small bowl out and plastic utensils for him to use. Well definitely be coming back when were in town.

This unassuming little restaurant is surprisingly good! The interior was basic and we didn’t expect much from our lunch, but we quickly noticed that this place was better than we anticipated. Firstly the staff clearly take pride in their job. They weren’t looking flustered despite the fact that 80% of the tables were full. The tables were very clean and all of the settings organized and straight. The waiters bought our baby a water with a straw and a baby bowl with cutlery WITHOUT us asking for it, which we thought was very thoughtful of them.We ordered the Tonkatsu Miso, Tempura Vegetable Miso, Takoyaki, Spicy Tuna Roll and Avocado Roll. The vegetables in the dishes were displayed with artistry and not the usual ‘throw it all in attitude’. The ramen and vegetables were cooked to absolute perfection and we were surprised that the soup stock tasted like it was made from scratch and not overly salty or sweet. We really enjoyed the meal and felt good after eating it. We will be back again soon.

Service is stellar (the owner is incredibly friendly) and the food is consistently amazing.Their menu has a large variety of Japanese dishes aside from just ramen including sushi, yakitori, and yakisoba. Review №72

I cant say that I was very impressed with the ramen here. I had the Spicy Kenta Ramen, which uses a spicy tonkotsu broth. Tonkotsu broth is normally rich and full bodied, but Kentas broth was more thin and bland. I like that they had hot sesame oil at each table because I had to use a lot of it to give the ramen some flavor. The noodles were also a sore point. They were thin and felt more like instant ramen out of a package. The one good thing about the ramen was the piece of kakuni. Although there was only one piece, it was tender and had a pleasant sweet taste from mirin and sugar. Im not sure if Id come back here, but if I do, Id probably just get an order of kakuni with a side of rice.

Ughhh!!!! This place doesnt serve good ramen not even Okay ramen... We should have known as it was almost empty on a holiday while any other restaurant was absolutely full. The broth doesnt quite have any flavor. They charged us $0.75 for extra spicy and it was even mild..... The egg is not flavored is just a boiled egg dumped into the soup right before serving it. As for the noodles, well it felt like we are eating a cup noodles that costs $10.50. If I am paying that much I am expecting a real damn good ramen!Very very disappointing, but we had a spicy tuna roll as an appetizer that was actually good. But is it worth coming here again hoping their sushi?! I dont think so!

Kenta Ramen is seriously a gem in Foster City. Its located in a far away plaza somewhat near the tip of Foster City and can be hard to find if youre not from the area. While I havent tried their ramen, I have tried their udon, and it is phenomenal! I love that they offer udon and ramen but with the same flavors - you can just choose which type you want. While there are a lot of ramen spots in the Bay Area, theres not too many that serve udon. I am very happy that Kenta Ramen serves both!Service is great and really quick! I will definitely be back for their amazing udon.

In an interesting mistake, we learned that there is a Japanese food called karake which, despite the similar name, is actually nothing like karaage. We didnt try the karake, but the karaage was ok (the thin, lighter breading style). The ramen portions were huge and had corn and tofu in addition to the usual fixins. We both enjoyed the spicy kenta (tonkatsu broth) but werent fans of the super-sweet meat used or the sweetness of the additional (+0.75) spice. The surrounding area is pretty nice - we watched the sunset (indirectly) and some planes periodically flying overhead.

I couldnt stand traffic and made a detour on the last exit before the San Mateo bridge. I was getting hangry and wanted some filling after my workout.
