I think this place is great! lots of history and character. Im sure the pandemic has been tough but the store seemed kinda lifeless and run down. I would love to see this place vibrant with a comfortable atmosphere. Maybe some chairs to sit or a lounge area to create conversation. Everyone loves a custom hat, I wonder if there were more opportunities to bring people together with coffee, cocktails or cigars. Just my observations. I mean no disrespect and here are some photos I took to show my appreciation.
Our family had an heirloom passed down since the turn of the century. We took the hat to PB to have it cleaned & blocked, with specific instructions NOT to replace anything. In fact they replaced the liner, which held where the hat was made. We took PB to court for damages and won. PB has not only refused to pay, but have also refused to return the hat.Response: 10 yrs ago next month, Damages were awarded through the courts. A lien was placed against PB. And was just renewed.
People say excellent service. Ha! No way. Horrible. No greeting, how are you, welcome, nothing. Prices? $400. For a hat! 2 words. DRUG FRONT! Unless your rich and dont mind rude employees, dont go here!
Loved this place as soon as I came in. Yes, the owner could tidy up a bit but I am used to a working shop and so was not put off. Ordered a custom beaver stingy brim fedora...hope its done before winter sets in back east. Owner is rather matter of fact but took the time to answer my questions and educate.
I bought a hat from them 10 years ago and love it! I went into the store 2 weeks ago and the store lacked inventory, was dirty and run down. There was someone working in back who saw me, but didn’t engage with me. I stayed for 5 minutes because I wanted a straw hat. After no help, I left. Kind of sad!
Historic hat shop in Downtown Ft. Worth. Reshaped my Panama at no charge so I gave a tip.
Great customer service.
I am an old fashioned priest who wears a fedora in the winter and a panama in the summer - both of which Ive purchased at Peters Brothers. I love the sense of history in the store (theyve been around since 1911) and will always steam and block your hats while you wait. This family run business is very experienced and very friendly - Shop Fort Worth!
Went in today. Came to downtown. Just to be hatted Not much selection except a few cowboy hats, and a few Chinese made hats. If you know exactly what you want they can order it, or custom make it. I didnt come in for a cowboy hat but a fedora. Nothing g on the shelf to get an idea of style to start with.
The owner was kind of rude when I was asking a couple simple yes or no questions. His employees have better customer service.
Email communications were great. Hat band stitching on an older hat, from different manufacturer had failed. He replaced the stitching on the spot while I waited. Excellent service and price was right. 😬
I had a wourne out hat referbished in 1994. When it came back it was beautiful. Loved that they put in a Peters Bros. Liner in it. Going back soon for a Panama this spring!!!
Visited to get a new hat, the 2 guys were very friendly and helpful as usual. They got the hat out pretty quickly considering most other hatters its even longer than the 6 months which is a the estimated time to be completed. One of the few left in their profession who can make or repair hats. Would recommend to any friend.
Walked by this place last night after dinner and had already been thinking I wanted a new hat. Bingo, a Stetson dealer! Yeah, like others Im standing in front of a locked business in the middle of a weekday!! Hitting the road north today back to Michigan, had one shot at it, guess they dont need the business. Too damn bad for me, I can see hats Id buy if only I actually could!
I planned to visit this store to buy a new hat on 12/2/17. When I arrived the store was almost empty, and sales person was anything but. He wasnt particularly busy and barely even acknowledged me. He didnt even seem willing to help me verify my hat size to ensure I got the right one. Over 100 years in business with this type of service? After this experience Im going back to Lockhart to get my next hat.
Custom designed a hat to my husbands requests. He really loves it. Gets tons of compliments.
We visited Peter Brothers as part of our Texan story, and it was amazing! They take such care here, know the business from A-Z and are so experienced at making felt and straws for their customers! I know some reports say - the shop was closed - well it was open on our visit and a great experience!!Carole (Denford) Fashion Editor The HAT Magazine
Jack Turners review seems odd. Says he walked by at night after dinner and then later said it was locked in the middle of a weekday. Which is it, middle of the day or at night. Either way, the store is great, traditional hat shop with the sound of old creaky wood floors and the feeling that old cowboys once walked those floors.
Friendly, great service. They are very knowledgeable about their products as well as hats from other makers/distributors. Definitely recommend them if youre shopping for a great quality hat.
Finally found a REAL hat maker.Hoping to give them a Fifth Star after I have a Hat made!
Would be nice if they were ever open during their advertised hours. I would say posted time but every time I go there they are closed with no posted explanation. So once again I have wasted my time driving downtown and they do not ever answer the phone. Ive heard they are good at what they do, maybe maybe not, Ill never know now. They suck at public relations.
Love this place. If you want a hat with some serious customer service this is the place to go. From Fedoras to straw cowboy hats
Great work is done by them but good luck getting one of the two parking spaces.
Had my fedora resized with replacement of leather sweatband while I waited. Made accommodation for me while traveling through town. Excellent service.
Even though dark and dusty, it seems like a neat place. However, I recently visited Fort Worth for a week and the store was never open.Good luck.
Great hats but the down town Ft. Worth location has nothing and not very helpful.
I have purchased many hats from the legendary Peter Brothers and have enjoyed them for many years.
Had a new liner installed in my old Resistol, love the Peters Bros silk liner, took all of 10 minutes and a 5th gen Peters fixed my crease. I’ll be back for another hat to reline.
OK, I guess theyre closed for the winter . . . or to cut-down on foot traffic, or whatever. Either way, it works for me: Ive tried phoning twice (only to have the calls unanswered and to be told that they havent set-up their voicemail box) and tried dropping by twice during their web-listed open hours (only to find the place shut-down with nothing posted on their door as to when they would be open). So I wont be back . . . granted, theyre probably the best game in town if they show-up; but, because they are a no-show, Ill go elsewhere.
If you can get them to answer the phone. They keep irregular business hours. The machine used to ro sew in new hatbands was broken or down and not working. They did good work but Iwouldnt go back
Historic place. Nice people!
Forgot to leave a previous review when I bought my last Open Road from them years ago. Just spoke to Brad about having a custom hat made. Not youre typical hat store, not in the business of catering to tourists but rather focus on making custom hats. Ive spent a fair amount of money on custom hats over the years and this isnt a in and out process.
I buy all my good Hats here.
Variety and very helpful staff. Worked tirelessly on my old Stetson.
I’m very disappointed with the hat renovation I had done at Peters Brothers. I took my Dad’s Stetson to them for a renovation which includes cleaning, new band, new lining, re-blocking, re-sizing if necessary and re shaping. When the lady at Peters Brothers took my hat, and my $100 up front, I specifically asked if the liner would be a Stetson liner like the original one in the hat at the time. She said yes, and the hat would be ready in 6 weeks. It took 8 weeks. When I picked it up it was obvious that it hadn’t been re-blocked. It was still dirty and the brim was not re-shaped to the correct shape. The new liner was not a Stetson liner, it was a Peters Brothers liner. You can see where the original band was double stitched by Stetson with closer than 1/8” stitching, a sign of a good Stetson. Peters Brother’s just slapped the new band in with a sloppy 1” stitching. On top of all those problems, the hat stunk of some kind of cleaning solution. When I pointed these things out to the man who worked on the hat, he seemed much more concerned about his feelings being hurt rather than providing a properly renovated hat. It was a total waste of $100. I recommend you stay away from Peters Brothers.
Love my twenty x
Heck yeah, great place for hats!
Great service!
